Good Monday!
Quiet I crave it especially at end of work day or when working on an involved project. My SIL like my DH always has something turned on for noise. When DH would go away for weekend, I rarely turned on TV or music. Just noise overload.
Speaking of DH.....he complained about not going to KY all week, then decided not to go. SMH. I hung out with him Saturday watching mindless TV. Yesterday I had to buckle down to pay property taxes and gather tax stuffs for accountant. No noise in back room and DH was good at basically leaving me alone. I can get nasty if I am trying to work on important stuffs and keep getting interrupted. I still need to put some papers in his file cabinet, but ran out of time yesterday. The upside is I have nothing urgent as of this morning. Did take a moment to start putting all accounts in my just in case book. Had friends coming for Super bowl watch (I sually like commercials and halftime) . This was our dessert night with added appetizers. I had planned on making chicken salad and brownie bites. Chose paperwork instead, so bought those things. It was still good. Relaxing evening. Kitchen cleaned and dishwasher running while watching game.
Last week was not good for goals. Lots of blanks on my calendar. I am hoping for a better goal oriented week. Slowly but surely catching up on past due projects. I did finish one book and started another.
Beth I am happy for you getting implant. So many people won't even wear hearing aids!
Rebecca I am so happy for you! We told you oldest would love his pillow!
UTIs When I was in my 20s and early 30's UTIs were a bi-weekly thing. Allergy to sulfa drugs developed as I was on them so much. Doctor finally put me on a really low does of an antibiotic for a year. I will say that I don't think I have had but maybe one since then. Hugs to those suffering with them. The last three years it has been fighting yeast infections-ugh.
I know there was more I wanted to comment on, but must get ready for work.
Healing thoughts!
Congratulations on successes!
Safe travels!
Grateful you are all here!

Oh, YGD has enjoyed her time with MTCA in California. Apparently, she injured her foot on Tuesday night before they left. It may or may not be broken. She wore a boot when not performing. But was talked up and still did a wonderful job dancing.
So proud of our triple threat.

Used a de-bobbler for the first time ever today! It worked! My best long black cardigan was covered in bobbles after just one wash. I should have taken it back to M&S, but I had no receipt, and couldn't be bothered. I had seen the machines on YouTube, and was sceptical, but they weren't expensive. Anyway, my cardi-coat is now smooth.
John has gone off to have his hair cut and took the Sodastream CO2 cylinder with him to buy a refill. It always amuses me how much heavier the filled one is.
Gorgeous, blue sky day here.

Rebecca ... great photos. So happy for you!
Tracey ... I like your new color scheme in the kitchen!
Annie ... I am guessing that your dad might not be a candidate for cochlear implants given his age and increasing dementia. Besides being a surgical procedure (which most doctors try to avoid with the elderly), there is a lot of learning/brain work that takes place after the implant is activated. My mom's hearing is deteriorating even though she wears hearing aids. She also has dementia and I wonder if there is a correlation. First, I plan to have her hearing aids re-evaluated and adjusted if necessary to see if that helps. Maybe your Dad's need some tweaking too.
Needing to spend more time with my mom. She's depressed. And there are indications that her care is not what is should be at her facility.
My weight is bouncing around on the high-end which is concerning to me. I usually follow a 19:5 restricted eating plan (Intermittent Fasting), but I'm evidently eating past full. So, I plan to do some calorie tracking. I'm sure the recent binging on peanut butter M&Ms has nothing to do with it!

I started back into my routines right away. I can tell it is helpful. The weather person got COVID so her coming to visit the third graders will be rescheduled.
Today I go to my painting group. The computer is showing its age having trouble with the space bar today!
I am getting used to being more quiet. The world is so noisy today I have to admit I enjoy it more then not.
Have a great day!5 -
Morning ladies

Tracy is feeling queasy now ,she brought animal crackers to work ,i told her saltines and gingerale.
Old wives tale,if you get morning sickness your having a girl,,I was sooo sick with her.3 -
Good morning ladies!
Beth yes my dad gets his hearing aids cleaned and tweaked periodically. Seems like he might not be a candidate then. Yes there is a link between hearing loss and dementia, supposedly through the isolation.
Last night Dad couldn't find the ice maker on the refrigerator. Every day is a new challenge. But he still thinks he is fine, and even if I did convince him otherwise, he would forget.
Machka thanks for the links. He doesn't have a diagnosis. He hasn't done the labs. I need to reconsider what would be useful.
The senior center had a coffee with veterans event today. I meant to go, but missed it. I will buy groceries today because snow is expected tomorrow.
Have a great day ladies!

Good morning, ladies. Enjoying the posts.
Tracey nice pics of your kitchen. Hope everything goes well for your daughter.
Rebecca good you are able to spend time with your sons.
Beth, my weight has been bouncing around too (bouncing up that is!) Appears that I have put on close to 10 pounds this winter so getting back to logging and more mindful portion control eating.
Enjoyed the Super Bowl game. Was hoping the 49ers would take it but wow...can't take anything away from Mahomes. What an exceptional player.
Another beautiful warmish day in Alberta. Will be taking my dogs for a walk and enjoy it.

Good morning from the gray wintry morn of the Arkansas River Valley... sunny tomorrow, and need that...
Woke up with a poem in my head and actually held onto it long enough to get it down on paper! Well, electrons, anyway. Will let it wait for a few days, 'til the first memory of writing it is gone, and then try to look at it objectively. Won't know until then if it's actually any good.
Usual Monday morning chores, plus some extra cleaning for guests on Wednesday... re-reading a book I enjoyed. That's about it for the plans for today. I'm starting to feel as if I might need to bump my iron back up to where it was before, my energy levels aren't tanked, but they're definitely at half-mast. I'll keep thinking about it.
More later, perhaps,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Today is Clean your computer day! I forget who had the old computer with the sticky space key, but this fits! Take a Q-Tip (or similar) moisten with alcohol then use that to clean the keys on your keyboard. Be sure the device is off before starting! You may type or send something unwanted otherwise!! ⌨️. YUMMY Cream Puffs!! 💨

I am headed for the dentist today. Just a cleaning but I hate having to sit for an hour and especially hate having someone's hands in my mouth. It's only an hour. I love my teeth and they've served me well all my life so I try to take care of them.

Good morning ladies -
Katiebug, Machka, Rita, - all of you who went back to school in your later years and got advanced degrees - so proud of you.
Kylia - your YGD reminds me of YOU with the energizer bunny/hurt foot/keep going attitude. Glad you got some paperwork done and still were able to enjoy the game.
Rebecca - I got chills seeing your boys together. I know you are enjoying every minute of their reunion.
Lisa - enjoy your visitors. Have the kids secured a landing spot they'll permanently move to after the visit?
Rita - how maddening your lost watch is so nearby but not in sight.
Michele - those socks look interesting, I'll mention them to my foot doc when I go in on March 4th. Safe travels!
Beth - great news with the cochlear implant. Sounds like many people have success with it. I remember when I was a kid, I knew an older fellow who got a hearing aid, maybe one of the first. As I recall, he wore complicated head gear. I'm curious to see how improved hearing will impact your other senses - if they will at all. As you mentioned brains change a little with improved hearing.
Margaret - after my DH passed, I appreciated the power of quiet.
Pedometer story: I have been using an inexpensive pedometer I just stick in my pocket, got it from Amazon last year. Found some at Walmart last week and picked up one for T and one for myself as a spare. I wondered how it would measure up against the one I currently use. The new one records almost exactly 2/3 of the steps the old one records. It has a "10 - step delay" which I think accounts for discrepancy. Not sure how long the period of inactivity has to be - such as sitting in front of this laptop for a few minutes, but if it's not counting initial steps or the 10 steps I take to the bathroom, for example, no wonder. I told T to just multiply her steps by 1.5 and it will be more accurate.
Waiting for a return call from the PUD. One of these days they are going to want to replace a power pole in their right of way on the back of my property. The previous landowner planted a lot of trees back there, and I sure hope they don't have to remove them to get the job done. We planted some evergreens this side of the right of way in case that would ever happen, but not many.
Though if those trees were gone, it would make it a lot easier to mow. So crossing fingers what ever happens will work out for the best.
Make it a great week.

I need to get back doing them-did good a few days then haven't been back doing them since I went to mom's.
Went the whole weekend with out using the nebulizer after using it at least twice a day for over 6 weeks. Still not totally better but a lot better than I was.
Heading up to storage to drop off half the Christmas stuff and some other misc. that I want up there so it isn't in the garage or house. Will make another run up next week for the rest of it. I will be pulling out the triplet stroller that has been up there in about a month and try and sell it- not the right time of year for it right now.
Class tonight then get together with them at the Mexican place

Today’s gratitude: Zicam ;}
Yesterday’s gratitude:1.5 lbs less after wolfing down a half dozen ginger snaps Saturday night. Go figure. ;}
Tracey  the remodel. Will you come to Oregon and do mine? Fingers X’d for Kaitlyn.
Machka love the “our brains…” and “…music” memes, and especially the “derive pleasure from the happiness of others for things you don’t understand and would never appreciate otherwise.” Love this.
Michelle in NV your soups (especially the Mexican corn chowder) look mouthwatering. Yes beer cheese soup does taste like beer and cheese, the stronger tasting beer used, the more so I can’t help trying to respond to most posts, it’s a character flaw/trained response I’d like to outgrow.
Ginny Fingers X’d for a second opinions with better options than “some women just have this bad luck”
Lanette “…since Jason Momoa…”
Heather “…no possibility of making a future appointment” ?!? And I thought our US system was floundering. ((hugs)) Well done on creating that reel.
Annie it is so very sad. Are there other modes of communication you could try? Hope the snow event is more beautiful than heavy.
Lisa so excited for John and Soraya’s move nearer to you! “…chili with beans - which is not really chili. . .” you Texas gal you
KJ does your oven have a convection bake setting? No need for an air fryer
Rita hope you find that watch soon. Very interested in following your experience. “National peppermint patty day” Does anyone else remember Campfire Girl mints? They were the best!!!
Michele good of you to be concerned for Jerry despite all he’s put you through. Safe travels!
Carol SMH at that teacher commenting on your difficulties with math to other students. Some people! Have you tried Bon Ami on the stained corelle bowls?
Beth fingers X’d for the CT scan and implant. Glad you’re expectations are realistict but I confess I’m excited for you.
Okie Hooray for your uncle!
Allie appointment with gastro BEFORE colonoscopy?
Joy what a grief for their parents to watch your niece and nephew loose their hearing. Thankful for the implants’ good results.
Rebecca OF COURSE you eldest loved the Ramen bowl plushie! You knew he would! ;} Great pics!
Kylia “…I can get nasty if I am trying to work on important stuffs and keep getting interrupted…” ditto. Maybe even more than nasty. . .
Margaret brava for getting back into routines. ((hugs))
Cleaning computers, imho if you have no canned air, a sticky note folded so the sticky edge faces out can be used to pull crumbs/dust/schmutz out from between keys.
Barbie good luck at the DDS. Breathe…

Tracey-Love the blue and the whole thing looks so nice. Enjoyed the pictures of Aspen and Jeb.
Rosemarie--HUGS.
Beth-- A lady from church has the cochlear implant and I guess I forget she has them most the time when talking with her. I guess I just know they are a part of her. Know she has good results with hers.
Rebecca--So happy for you and this time with your boys. I hope you are taking lots of pictures.
Not bad for a Monday. Just feeling blaaa. Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE4 -
Meal with my son was great. He enjoyed it and walked both ways from/to his house for exercise. He didn't stay long, but I didn't expect him to.
His best friend, who part owns the company my son works for, got pericarditis from several covid infections He took a long time, but seemed to be improving. Then on Friday he wasn't well and went to A&E, but was sent home. Saturday morning he was rushed to hospital and has been taken to St Thomas's. This is a specialist hospital in London. Looks like a heart transplant is needed. I really like this guy - a sweet and gentle husband and father.
Hoping for the best.
My ex husband has not been well, with a fall, broken ribs etc. He has failing kidneys and a not brilliant liver., which has been going on for years. He had cancer of the liver at one stage. Looks like occasional dialysis is in the future. My son is going up to Scotland to visit him in a couple of weeks.
John has a swollen gum and toothache, I have painful legs. I made him promise to ring the dentist tomorrow, if I rang my doctor. OK.
Otherwise all good!

Rebecca - I hope you savor to the max the time you have your boys home. Enjoy!
Beth - good luck with evaluations for the implant. Hope your mom is feeling better soon.
Cool and foggy here this morning. My ankle is feeling much better after staying off of it for 4 days now. Amazing how following the doc's orders more precisely can make such a difference. Having the septic fixed has made it more possible. I am so glad that is finished. We have contacted a lawyer for the next steps. Haven't heard a peep from tenant or gotten any rent.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA6 -
Heather ~ Prayers for you, your present husband, and your ex-husband. That's a lot of worries but I guess a part of us getting older.
BIL has not made it out of the hospital because they keep wanting to do more and more test. We are getting to the point where we just don't know what to do. He was supposed to leave the hospital over the weekend to go to a physical therapy facility but that didn't happen. This has been going on for over a month.

I believe he also needs the diagnosis, correct? Can you talk with his doctor about getting him tested? That might help make more resources available.
I know all of this is overwhelming, especially as you are also dealing with the grief related to your mother's loss.
