Oh Machka - I very much feel that last meme/pic that you posted; "May all that has been reduced to noise in you, become music again".
With my job, I work far more than 40 hours. It is 50 hours with children, but then an added 10-20 hours each week prepping, cleaning, paperwork, and planning. Lately no lunch hours, due to having four infants in care (at least one of them seems to be awake when the rest are napping). But I can't seem to focus on the things I love, because it just feels like "too much" in my brain. I have been doing cooking, cleaning, paperwork without music, even; which is unusual for me. BUT. because it is so quiet while I work, DH always comes in and checks on me (which means tries to talk to me about things). He means well, but that in itself is sometimes exhausting. Or on weekends my daughter will call and want to chat. For an hour or more. A couple of times a day. lol Those chats are always chaotic because the boys want to talk, too. There is usually a fair amount of scrambling and noise going on between the three of them. I am not complaining. I have found that God/life has a twisted sense of humor where my thoughts are concerned and the minute I start complaining about things, a change is made/someone is gone from my life and I can't get that time/chat/noise back. Anyway...I have been letting go of things that are wasting my time. Like less time spent on social media and streaming. Once my brain feels rested, I will bring in more time to read and listen to music. Even if it is just 15-30 minutes a day. I will once again feel like I am treating myself better.
Beth- Thinking of you with your CI appointment.
Tracey- I painted my kitchen almost the exact same color scheme about 6 years ago! White upper cupboards, a light blue/gray (same color as yours) wall, and slate gray blue lower cupboards! I am still very happy with the color choices.
new girls - Welcome! I have been reading your posts and am enjoying seeing our group grow! Chime in whenever you feel the urge!
Michelle NV or Dia- One of you posted the wonderful dinner from the air fryer! I make the same veggie blend; roasted in my oven. I haven't broken down and bought an air fryer yet. Because I have to feed so many mouths, I feel like I would need a HUGE air fryer. lol My library has a small appliance lending "store". I should see if they have an air fryer I could try...
Heather - I am halfway through your book. I will say, that there have been moments reading it where I have wanted to put my hands in the air and shout for joy at the discoveries you have made and the windows you are opening for myself and others. You are a force, my friend!
More I want to reply to, but my brain isn't letting me remember right now.
I have been sitting at 260 for a week and a half now. I lost 5 pounds in December, 5 pounds in January. I haven't been walking the past couple of weeks; but have been working on my spaceship and doing the squat challenge. Lots of squatting. I can feel the change in muscle structure in my legs and glutes. BOY, do my glutes hurt! lol DH has offered a massage; but we all know where that is headed...
Well, I have to scoot and get a few things done for this week. We have the launch of the Spaceship 2024, Mardi Gras, and Valentine's day. Busy, busy, busy...ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

When I see people I try to limit talk of the news.
Dr.KatieBug: My son went to a public high school in Middle GA about 10 years ago. The system was using a curriculum where the algebra and geometry were intertwined. They eventually stopped using this. What was the reasoning for this?
Also I believe the classes were 90 minutes for awhile. My son did his homework during this time but it certainly seems like a long time to stay focused on Math...unless your a Math person!
I am not sure of the details of this but for Calculus the Math teacher asked the students to work on every problem they got wrong on the test until they could do the problem and I think others similar to it. Around 13 people in the class received a 4 or 5 on the AP calculus test. Do you think this method would work better in other class room situations. The calculus students were pretty motivated I think.
Best,
Rosemarie from GA
I have left the math world behind and don’t even know how they do it now, whether they integrate the geometry into the algebra or separate it out. The main reason the teachers I surveyed in my dissertation freaked out about the Georgia curriculum was that they were used to having a textbook that aligned with the standards and there was not one. We saw a shift away from even purchasing a book and instead spent all our money making copies of worksheets from the state curriculum website.
The 90 minute block schedules are still very much a thing in some high schools. From a teaching standpoint, they are nice. You have less students per day and less papers to grade. More time to go in depth with learning tasks. Many teachers didn’t do that, though. They continued to teach the old way and let students do homework in class. The down side to me was that it was very hard to cover all the material in half a year and retention was a problem since students would sometimes go a whole year with no math, depending on how their schedules fell.
Yes, the motivation found in a calculus class is a different animal than that that found in a regular algebra class. But more practice, reworking until uou get it right should be a good strategy.6 -

It's so nice that you try to say something to everyone. I wish I had that kind of patience and perseverance.
I have been drinking the zero calorie effervesced soda water with the juice, actually. It really smells more than it tastes. It even says something like, "Infused." on the product. I wish it tasted like it smelled, but that would be too good to be true, lol.
The sugar habit is a pain in the but, but I've found juices with only half the calories, about 50, of regular juices. Even then I'm only using a 2 to 1 mix Soda Water to juice. So, I guess it's not too, too bad.
Glad you like my soups. What, exactly, is Beer Cheese soup? (BTW, I can' stand beer; does it taste like beer?) Here are a few more soups I made this week. Actually, it's soup week in one of my other rooms. So, these are technically reposts.
Tomato Bisque
Creamy Garbanzo Bean and Cabbage Soup
Mexican Corn Chowder (uses soymilk instead of milk and it works)
If anyone wants a recipe for these or the ones I already posted, just let me know.
Looks delicious, and yes, please. I am always looking for soup ideas.

KJ - Ooooh, I think I love you ....... A super, super quick, diddly, tiddly, review when you're done with it would make me know I love you.
I feel bad even asking you when I know how horribly, terribly, busy you are. I wish I could help. I think you are truly amazing, and I know no-one else who could take on half your load, but....... You know what the but is , so I don't have to say it. I'm going to send 'Queer Eye' down your way.

Machka and others on NEWS I watch the local news mostly for the weather and anything good happening around me. I also have a news station from TN and CT that I occasionally watch again mostly for the weather in those areas and to get a gist of the difference in news reporting between the states I’ve lived in. Sometimes very interesting but usually boring to me. My DH, like Machka’s has a news app on his phone and he sits for hours reading that and getting upset. I tell him that stuff that goes on in other places that don’t affect me, I don’t worry or even talk about because I can’t do anything about it. I tend to as people who come to my camper complaining about what they don’t like “what would you suggest I do, or how do you want me to fix this?” Most times it stops them in their tracks and I smile smugly inside of their reactions when I turn it around and put it on them to suggest or find a solution. Stops a lot of uselessness I find. Try it sometime just to see the look on a complainer or worriers face when you ask them for a potential solution. I do it to my DH all the time when he starts complaining about news or politics or whatever with no possible solution for us to get involved. 😈
Still no watch and now no power so I can’t use the gps on my phone to find it. I did chisel down the area to be in the RV someplace. Will do more ripping apart when I feel a bit better. Thank you to those who wished me well. I’ll get there. It’s mostly in my chest and my inhaler is helping a lot along with Robitussin cold pills for those with high blood pressure/diabetes. Works for me anyway.

Apple watch bands IMHO the bands that come with the watch are JUNK! Mine wouldn’t stay buckled and the watch fell off all the time. I ordered a new band from Amazon but it doesn’t come in until tomorrow. I hope to find mine by then. Below is a picture of the watch with the band I’m talking about. Mine is black contributing to the problem finding it!! The band I got is called the sports band. You would think because it is called “spots” it would be rugged and made to stay on!!

Did the Tear it Up DVD, since it was raining did a Leslie Sansone DVD, then to WalMart (it was crowded, probably because of the Super Bowl)
Did 2 loads of laundry, cleaned part of the kitchen floor, this part gets the dirtiest, right in front of the sink.
Tracey – I just noticed that you have a popcorn ceiling! Did you install it? We have it down at the condo and I’m not sure if I like it or not. I bet your grandmother’s china will look great in the cabinet
Debbie – mmmm mmmm mmmm You’ve got me hungry now
Annimzdiet – (please give us another name to call you). Put me down for wanting the recipe for the cabbage and garbanzo soup
.
Antibiotics: I was on clyndomycin for the infection in the tooth (went to the dentist and all’s fine, it just needs to heal. I already have an appt to get the bridge when we get back). Anyway, whenever I’d take a capsule, it always felt like it didn’t go down all the way. It actually was very uncomfortable to breathe. Anyway, I found out by accident that if I had something to eat RIGHT BEFORE I took the capsule, it wasn’t anywhere near as bad. I’m not talking even 5 minutes before I took the antibiotic. I’m talking that I’d have a piece of cheese and then immediately afterwards take the antibiotic. Weird, huh?
Lanette – I’m not really massaging my foot. I use the foam roller plus doing other stretching exercises. But to me, this is a good excuse to get a massage….lol I found the exercises for the calf on a foam roller on uTube. I have found that using a pumpice stone on the callus seems to help some. It’s still there, tho. My orthopaedist did suggest these Silipos socks. It got them off amazon. They’re socks but they have extra padding on the bottom. This is what they look like

Lisa – I didn’t realize that this is THE move for the kids. How wonderful for you!
For some reason I just couldn’t sleep last night. Maybe it was that I had things running thru my head making sure I thought of everything for FL.
Taxes – Vince is working on the taxes but he says that he really can’t finish because there’s some information that he needs that he won’t get until we get back.
Remember Jerry at BK? Well, from what I gather BK was on the store manager’s case about not letting him live on BK property. Which, to me, makes sense since I can see liability issues. Anyway, one day he came in but it appears he was super-drunk, his hands were shaking, slurred words, that sort of thing. He hasn’t been in BK to work for a few weeks. I was concerned because a while ago he said to me that his sister wants him to go into a group home (that also might have been his interpretation of what she said), that if he went he’d commit suicide. Anyway, he came to BK the other day (I wasn’t there) and I understand that he’s staying at some Heritage place in Hickory. To me, that sounds like a senior place, and if I’m right, there’s no way they’ll put up with his empty beer cans thrown around. M (store manager) isn’t going to fire him, but she also isn’t planning that he’ll be at work. Really, he probably doesn’t have a ride. At least I know that he’s alive.
KJ – I saw on uTube a video of some kid making a turkey. The body was an apple. I figure if this kid can do it, it probably isn’t real hard. I’m thinking that if I have a chance, maybe I’ll make some for the last Newcomer bowling session.
guess I’ll work some more on that x-stitch.

Katiebug ~ It was interesting reading about your insights on teaching math. I know that I am totally learning disabled when it comes to math. I did fine learning adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Then, in 5th/6th grade due to a lot of upheaval in our home life and other factors, I totally missed out on fractions. That progressed to high school where algebra was beyond my comprehension. The teacher actually commented to her other classes about my whining that I didn't get/understand it. For some reason, I liked geometry but that may be because I loved to draw. When I started college I had to take a course in what was called The New Math (that was a bust for me). Anyway, later my college GRE scores were so bad that I was able to get out of teaching math to 5th graders. For that I am thankful!
Michele in NV ~ Love your soups.
Michele in NC ~ I broke down and purchases some Corelle soup/cereal bowls to replace my old bowls that had gotten so stained I was embarrassed to use them. The ones I got are a bit small so I might order larger ones.
When you drive through Georgia to go to your condo, wave as you drive down I-75 through Cobb County.
Kelly ~ I can truly understand your thoughts about quiet! With all you do there is no wonder that is something you long for.

Tracey, blue color is beautiful. Big job you are tackling.
DS sent a video of the girls synchro routine. They did good with just a couple of stumbles. First girl that fell got back up right away and joined the others. I thought good on her....shook it off and continued on. My granddaughter is one of the shortest in the group of 15 girls and was skating next to a very tall girl who turned the wrong way twice and bumped into her. Didn't knock her down though and quickly turned around the right way. Will be skyping tonight and I'm sure my granddaughter will be commenting that she was just about taken down. Not sure how they ranked but they did quite an intricate routine. Proud of them.
Watching the super bowl later today. It airs at 4 pm here. Should be a close game. Got a slow cooker of ribs going. Finally finished my organic paperwork and glad to see the end of that. Won't have to look at it again until inspection which probably will be some time in June. Going out for supper with DH for Valentines Day and looking forward to that.

The cochlear implant consultation went well. All of my questions were answered and I'm considered an excellent candidate given the severity of my hearing loss and my ability to adapt/learn language. I'll be scheduling the surgery after a prerequisite CT scan of my cochlea and temporal bone to make certain there is no underlying disease (which we're 99.9% sure there isn't). I have been talking with people who have the implants ... including those who have not had great success ... so my expectations are realistic. As the doctor commented, however, there are really no other options available to me. I'm also fully aware of the risks and have selected a doctor who has a great track record. I'll only do one ear ... the one with the greater hearing loss (although there's not much difference) ... as I do "hear" by using some sounds from the other ear. The implant is an ugly contraption if you ask me ... looks like an apple watch charger attached to your head! You would think with today's technology they could design something different. Profound hearing loss is very isolating ... I've been feeling the effects ... and I need to address this now.
So not to feel left out of the upcoming solar eclipse, I purchased eclipse glasses. Now you can pretty much figure that it will be cloudy and rainy that day in Buffalo!
Off to make Buffalo Chicken Tacos before the big game ... we'll be rooting for Purdy and his team!

Beth-glad to hear consult went well. I can not imagine what isolation from not hearing would be like. I agree-I would try something if it has a somewhat reasonable chance of helping.
Have been watching Super Bowl off and on. Not overly involved with game. I am rooting for Purdy-I just love his story of being Mr. Irrelevant. Will not doubt drift off to sleep while watching.
Can't tell if maybe I am also trying to catch a cold or some such after being around so many people last week. Several people at work have Influenza A. I have been vaccinated but I guess I could still get it. I was blaming all of my fatigue on UTI and while those can make me feel bad it typically doesn't bring on sneezing, stuff nose and cough!
I did get a few things done today I needed to, Took some returns to Kohls and picked up a couple of things there. Went to Lowes to get new house key made. Several years ago when making keys for new door I got one of the keys that has a red cover and a battery light in it. I rather like it and it finally fell apart. I also picked up a small battery operated screw driver. I gave my son the large drill. I don't need it but hand strength is not what it once was! I am also happy to report that laundry and ironing are completed!
Take care all,

Beth that cochlear implant sounds like it will help your hearing and isolation. Hope it goes smoothly! I wonder if my dad would benefit from something like that.
Annie in Delaware2 -
Beth good that you are getting information about the cochlear implant and hope it works out as an option. I have a niece and nephew who had that surgery many years ago. My niece was one of the first (not the first) in Alberta to undergo it as a child. She had to wait until she was totally deaf before she could get it. They could both hear at birth but hearing declined as they got older. They both went through genetic testing along with the parents and it was discovered to be a genetic defect that both parents had and passed it onto the children. I think my niece was about 8 when her hearing totally went. My nephew was a teen when he had his done. Both had very good results and no issues.

Carol – I really like my corelleware. It’s light, in over 50 years I’ve only had 2 break, none chipped. Two of them got a bit discolored but I found that putting a paste of baking soda on them and letting it sit, took the discoloration off. I’m sure you’ll love yours. I think you are looking for the cereal bowls.. There are dessert bowls and they are smaller. One time I thought I was buying soup/cereal bowls but they were really the dessert bowls. Be on the lookout for a big wave Tuesday!
Beth – I’m so happy for you getting that implant!
Michelle NV – sorry, Give me time and I’ll recognize your name on MFP and your given name, just like Carol. She doesn’t have to sign her name, I know who she is by just looking at her MFP handle. Give me time.
Off to a shower and bed. Tomorrow is the last day of work for 5 weeks! I’ll give them extra prep, even tho they didn’t specifically ask me for it. Can’t hurt. But I bet they weren’t real busy this evening, so that’ll probably mean that a lot of the prep that I did Sat. probably hasn’t been used so it’s that much less that I’ll have to do tomorrow…

Hey ladies! Youngest and eldest are just chatting in their bedroom, laughing, talking gaming stuff. Such a cute pair they make.💖
My eldest loved the ramen bowl plushie pillow.
Made pinto bean and ham hock soup that was devine! Boys inhaled it!
Long day as we had to wake up at 4:30 am to get to Sea-Tac airport to pick up eldest.💖⚓🤗

I was thinking more about the Gottman's relationship research. They talk about bids for attention/affection. My dad is so deaf that he ignores most of what I say, and I stop talking to him when I feel annoyed. He very rarely says anything personal to me, but he repeats inane observations. There's room for improvement there, but I'm not sure what he is capable of anymore. Dementia is so sad.
Annie in Delaware
Do you have a dementia association or organisation near where they live? It might be a good idea to do some research and find out more about dementia ... and more about what's going on in your father's brain. They might also be able to give you tips.
For example, would it help to have a whiteboard in a place that your father will see frequently. On it, you could write "Aunt has cancelled dinner. We are NOT going".
I have a big whiteboard calendar with our main events written on it. My husband knows what day today is (most of the time) but early on, we used to have whiteboard sign that said, "Today is Monday 12 February 2024" on it to help orient him in time.
Also, the repeated observations is very typical of dementia.
It's also typical of some forms of brain injury ... my husband repeats a lot of stuff. Some days I feel like I say, "That's interesting" in 1000 different ways.

Lanette - I thought my plantar fasciitis was a callous. I ignored it way too long. If you have one I would get it checked out.
It’s awful to be in pain all the time.
Thanks for the pelvic area information.
Heather - you did a great job with your Reel.
Annie - I hope you and your father find a rhythm soon. It sounds like neither of you are very comfortable in the situation you’re in. You are handling it well.
Kelly - I like to have quiet too sometimes. Often, after DH goes to work I just shut everything off. I for sure, turn the volume down. DH needs a hearing aid!
Rita - I hope you find your watch.
Michele - no I didn’t do it. I would get rid of it if I could. I like a smooth ceiling much better. It does hide imperfections in the ceiling though.
There are some very talented child chefs and bakers out there.
Carol - I learned math just as Canada was converting to Metric from Imperial. I don’t do well with math either except the basics.
Rebecca - I am so happy for you!!
Well I managed to get the kitchen out back in order, I also loaded my china cabinet. I did laundry and made supper. The living room is still a dusty mess and I need to put things on the walls in the dining room and hallway, but I’m waiting for a delivery and Kaitlyn is going to help me make a gallery wall within the next couple of weeks.
She is starting a medication today that she has to take for two weeks. The last time she had to take it she was sick the whole time so she’s not promising to do anything over the next two weeks.
This will be step one before the see the fertility doctor at the end of the month.
I have never watched football in my life but I watched the last 30 seconds of the Super Bowl. There is a new show with Justin Hartley on right afterwards.

Busy, busy, busy...ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
