Friday --

One of my "usual" Fridays off.

I was planning to work in the garden, but it was just so windy.

So I did 2 loads of laundry and hung them out to dry. The first load was dry by the time the second was washed. That hardly ever happens. Oh, and my socks hanger tried to attack me when I went out to hang the first load. I caught the movement out of the corner of my eye and ducked as this thing shot past at about 80 km/h.

I also cleaned the bathroom and toilet room, put away some laundry that was done about a week ago, tidied the dressing room, put some books away on the shelves in the office, and tidied around my chair in the living area.

Then we went out to a Candlelight Concert in the town hall: Vivaldi Four Seasons. The hall is beautiful and was filled with candles (not flame ones) and the music was lovely.

Machka - Your colourings are lovely. So precise! I have been thinking about getting some better felt tips. There is so much you can do with them. Most of ours are just left over kids ones. I regularly check them for dried up ones. I have seen some rather gorgeous ones on Amazon.

I heard a big thud on the mat and ran out into the hall, very excitedly, expecting to see my passport. But no, it was John's old one returned, my cards I designed, and a catalogue. I went outside to see if I could accost the postman, but couldn't see him. Rather despondently looked at my cards. They will do, but the white background has printed grey. My poor photo, I expect. Will be OK for thankyou cards.
Then there was another thump and lo! There was my passport! I expect the postman had got down the street and realised he had missed it. It's tracked, so he doubled back.
Signed it and done!

Just before lunch I put my face on so that John could take a publicity photo of me. I hate doing these things. He took a few, I've cropped one, and put a bit of a filter on, so I don't look so ill. In the end it's not too bad, I think. Sorry it's so big!


One day I'll get some professional photos done, but I'm too mean at the moment.

Michele in NV ... I see you found the February posting! Ignore my January response. So sorry to hear that your Grandmother has fallen. They really have no choice with broken hips but to try and repair them. Otherwise she lives with unbearable pain. It's a no-win situation. Praying she comes through the surgery ok!

And... good morning from my last sunny morning from a few days here in Arkansas...

I'm trying to type around a cat who is giving me the stink-eye this morning... She won't put up with the typing for long and will stalk off in high dudgeon soon. Don't feel sorry for her! I didn't get up until 7, so she yelled at me first, and then elbowed me aside when I opened her door of choice, the carport door, to let her outside. Then after running around just a few minutes out there, she came back in her kitty door (that was open all the time) and oozed onto my lap, one little pointy claw at a time kneading my tummy. Rude. 🤨😀🙃😼🐈‍⬛

Ah, I just coughed, and that was obviously beyond the pale, so I have a free lap once more. Prior to departure:

Always tough working around someone who has five extremely pointy ends of weaponry onboard at all times. 😀 Just have to have an exit strategy.

Medical lollapalooza that is February. Put it in a spoiler to make it easy to skip over:

Feeling puffy and bloated and the scale shows it, but less inflamed in the lady bits region this morning. Might be any number of things that are helping, but hoping it's the Diflucan and that it will actually resolve the UTI-type symptoms over the next week. Fingers crossed!

Not looking forward to this month - February has way too many medical appointments already, and I have a feeling more are coming - GP on Monday to get a referral to an ortho for my knees; acupuncturist each Wednesday; cardio the morning of the 16th to talk about getting the heart plug installed to diminish stroke risk.

That same afternoon, I also have the gastroenterologist appointment to decide on the next steps regarding trying to yank the Crohn's into intermission. I hate the term "remission," and am going to stop using it - it feels like I'm trying to compare it to cancer, and it's not, and I'm not. Basically, something that will diminish the symptoms for an indeterminate period of time.

I struggle with the idea of starting another biologic, as they decrease your general immunity. I haven't taken the Rinvoq since September, and my body has reset back to where it was in late 2019, but without the bleeding. Rinvoq did stop that, for which I am duly grateful. Still thinking, and probably will be until I talk to the gastro. I also need to ask the cardio if there are any biologics that will prevent them from doing the surgery to install the Watchman...

Thanks for reading, and sorry for the info dump. Just too much going on, trying to get it all straight.

Anyway... I've got things to do and absolutely no people whatsoever to see... (yay!)

Carol ... you are allowed to be frustrated with your BILs situation. Caregiving/overseeing others care is time-consuming. I admire you and everyone else who travels down this path.

Margaret ... continuing to pray for you during these days of sorrow. I'm so glad that you are prioritizing your own mental health!

My goals for February are to continue with my commitment to 10 minutes 2x daily on the treadmill. (I now have my son joining me in exercise in the evening! Yay!) And to incrementally add speed/incline. Weight stayed the same in January and I still need to lose, so will make small changes to my food choices to encourage a loss of February.

It is an older boy making a paper boat for the younger one to use in the rain in the road/hill runoffs downhill, and the result. Sorry but I have a strange mind and make weird associations! Another example is when someone says “Sumo Squats” I picture a Sumo wrestler in the beginning steps of a fight. I don’t mean any offense to anyone, I’ve just always done that. I do that to names too and use names to make passwords when I had to do it for new users at the hospital. For example, RVRita could be r>1T89! LOL. I don’t use my own name because I teach people how to change their names and use mine for examples! LOL . Now I want to give a lesson about creating passwords and safety to you all! I’ll save you that lecture unless someone wants me to.

Carol--So sorry about DBIL. Prayers for you and DH.
Michelle NA--Enjoyed the boat story, what a great memory. Glad your grandmother came out of surgery and doing well.
Annie--I think you should ask your sister to come stay with dad so you can go to that reunion in Oct. You deserve to go.
Heather--I think your picture turned out very nice.
Not a lot going on here. I do think my shoulder is feeling better. Doctor called this morning and gave me the information for my CT scan. They do it every 6 months to make sure my lungs are stable.
Have the weekend off and no big plans. Supper out tomorrow night with our motorcycle group. We go out the first Saturday of the month. Then church on Sunday with our grandson's 5th birthday party in the afternoon.

Youngest sailor son arrives at Seattle very late tonight (or about the earliest Saturday!) I am beyond exvited!!!!!
He will have a long day: ferry from base in Cuba to terminal, fly to Florida, fly to Texas, then fly to Sea- Tac.
My goals this month is to just absorb this leave time with Navy sons. The eldest is presently in an empty house in Guam and is cleaning it. Still hasn't gotten his leave dates finalized. Sometimes the Navy just drags its feet regarding that.🙄. Should be mid month that we see him though.

Had to change my dressings myself tonight as the surgery couldn’t fit me in with the nurse. She showed me how to do it last Tuesday, and prescribed all the materials I needed, so not such a difficult chore, in the end. I will probably have to do it again on Monday night if the surgery can’t fit me in next Tuesday. The flare-up is almost settled down again.

I had Latin Study Group this morning and walked to the fishmonger’s in town for salmon afterwards. At Parchment Craft after lunch I started on the embossing on a new project.

I’m looking forward to a relaxed weekend before another full day on Monday.

DD and I have had a wild week here. Our tenant has gone totally beserk. She reported water problems in the cabin on Xmas eve. We thought at first it was just a plugged toilet but has turned out to be much more. On Tuesday I made the mistake of going in the cabin without giving her 24 hour notice to try some enzymatic stuff in the toilet to see if we could get things loosened up that way. She came over to the house yelling and screaming and called the sheriff. She has been withholding rent since December 16 which is illegal in WA. We have continued to work on the problem. Today she came over to the house and asked if she could take pictures of the lease agreement as she has lost her copy. I refused as I had no idea what she might do if she got her hands on it. I told her I would consult with my lawyer and if he said it was OK I would get her a copy. Wow! Talk about a tantrum. She told me not to communicate with her again so I have ignored her subsequent calls and texts and now she says she has reported us to the WA state attorney general for not giving her a lease. We have suggested that she move out as she is so unhappy here but she refuses to do that. So we continue to work on repairing the problem. Septic company will be here Monday to jet out the line and see if that will do the trick. I sure hope so. Can't wait to see the back of this tenant.

I use alcohol markers (graphic pens) similar to the ones in the image. They take a long time to dry out. I also use Sharpie markers fine and ultra fine. And I use gel pens to get the shiny look here and there, like on the metal work on the door.
