Rita - I was actually going to recommend Avast as well. I use it on all my computers, it's free, and it works. They bug me some with the ad pop-ups, but free works for me. I actually signed up with them for their paid program one year, and it had very little over and above the free, so I went back to their free version. You get an immediate warning if you wander into a bad site, and they update constantly to keep up with the scams and hacks.
Okay... made it through 20 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes on the elliptical. Need to do my hand stretches quick, then get outside.

Cilantro is AWESOME!!!!
LOL In class one afternoon, I made some comment about how Cilantro was the worst tasting thing ever, and the class was divided. Half of the class, or more, were ready to defend it to the end; the other half agreed with me. It's funny how it is a food that is either an all or nothing thing. You either love it or hate it. There's no, "it's okay."

CILANTRO lovers unite! I was raised in a very old fashioned traditional Hispanic household. It was always around and used alot. I love it fresh with a sandwich and a jalapeño pepper. People either love it or hate it. I was the only one that liked goats milk, it’s got a distinctive smell and taste, u either love it or hate it8 -
Annie - great job on your exercising. Hope those flash cards help.
Rita - thanks for your McAfee story. They are something else!
Thanks to all for the AVAST suggestion, I'll check into it.
The Ortho clinic sent me "chart notes" and a recap of my visit the other day. What Dr. D wrote down was a bit different than what I recall from the actual visit. So glad I'll be seeing one of my regular docs today. If it's something like RA, Dr. Paul or Dr. Lisa would be someone I'd deal with on a regular basis anyhow.
Rita - you mentioned sitting with herniated disc. That's exactly what ran through my mind too and I'll sure bring it up when I see Dr. P today. I honestly don't sit for more than 15 minutes without getting up and walking/doing something, even if it's to the sink for a glass of water.
Foot was a bit swollen late in the day yesterday, an ice pack on it for about 15 minutes helped a lot. I intend to steer clear of anti-inflammatories for as long as I can. One ibuprofen per week is plenty in my book, lol.
Heather - I understand your hesitancy to take all of the painkillers. Hope you can get an X-Ray ASAP and figure out where to go from there.
Lisa - good job getting your yoga and elliptical and hand exercises done.

Oh a fellow cilantro despiser.....💖👍🏼 its definitely as bright green as Irish Spring huh? Easy to spot the offensively leaved suckers! I do like to mix jars of bruschetta, the olive and sun dried tomato ones! Then adding garlic and sauted onion. I add it to soups, put on sandwiches, not just on toasted bread with a slice of cheese.

I love cilentro- plan on planting it again this year but need to remember to plant it late so it is ready when my tomatoes are. I like to add it to my pico de gallo , salsa, sandwiches, pho, bahn mi sandwiches have to have it along with the pickled carrots.
Mom and I both like cilentro and basil. Dad didnt/dh doesn't like either. I will be planting a lot of basil too to make pesto
I think Cilantro is an herb that if you didn't grow up with it, in foods and such, its just something you can't immediately take to, you know? My Mom was a Betty Crocker clone and didn't use cilantro in anything. I love pesto! Happy growing!

Welcome, Mel in California! Come back and read, write when you're ready, join any conversation where you feel comfortable, there are always a half dozen or so going on. The thread moves fast, so you won't always get an instant response, there may be more than a few posts in between.
So pleased with myself. I got out and cut up the branches that I'll haul later or tomorrow to get them down to a manageable size, and then got the walk-behind mower out and did 40 minutes of mowing right around the house, getting all the henbit under control (green plants, small purple flowers, grows like a weed, because it's a weed... 😀🙃 It was 40 minutes 'cause it's a battery-operated mower, and I ran that the battery completely OUT. I feel so accomplished. I love spring. When something would hurt, I reminded myself I sat on my tushy all day yesterday and hurt then, too.
And... my phone just told me it's time to get in the shower for my acupuncture appointment. Thought I'd drop by and give y'all a boost - we don't have to exercise as much as men to get the same benefit, according to this study. No subscription needed, one of my ten free articles that I can share each month. Nice to find something where we're ahead of the game!
Have a great day! Time to get the grub off and scoot downtown...

Well tonight we drop off eldest at Sea-Tac airport. I am kinda numb with emotions today. Just trying (and succeeded) to keep it light. Made bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs to put in a big breakfast burrito when he comes down stairs.
Yesterday afternoon/evening, we all had fun watching "School of Rock" and then took turns watching funny videos. It was 11 pm when these photos were taken, so dang I'm kinda tired looking, but gosh I will miss that kid being going overseas for a handful of years. We were kind of click happy so I put it in a spoiler.😁💖Hoping it won't be snowing when we make the late in the evening trek.

Awww Rebecca- such wonderful memories you will have of all the fun times you have had over the last month or so..keep those close to your heart..
Sheesh I went to Costco today a bit after noontime..on a Wednesday..the place was a zoo..gosh it gives me anxiety.
Only way I can handle it is put ear plugs in..it manages the craziness a bit..
I asked Tracy if she was still going to send Miles to daycare after the twins are born and she said yes.. it will be alot easier on her for sure.
I used my reward points but still had to shell out 60.00 bucks6 -

Oh yes, I will coast through life on the fumes of this great past month!💖
On Monday my youngest called from Cuba too, his normal calling day. He was shaven and had gotten a haircut. We talked about his long trip home, and I thanked him for making the cute video of the toy Athena presented him, going on the plane ride from Florida to Cuba. The toy is small enough that "The Adventures of Redosaur" will continue for many years hopefully. He had posted a video of it in the window, and I thought it could be a good way for youngest to connect with his Niece yet still have some comfort level as its "the toy" in the spotlight.

Evelyn ... the first thing we check when we get an engine light that is indicating an air leak is to take a look at the gas cap (if you have one). This just happened to my son's car and removing the cap and making certain it was on securely solved the problem. He had just gotten gas earlier in the day when it was nasty out and we suspect he was rushing to get to work not paying attention to how he replaced his cap. My husband then disconnected the battery to reset the codes. If he wasn't here, the car would have reset itself after driving for a while. Just something to keep in mind.
Got more work done outside then I thought would happen. Slept well last night!

Annie, well done on your continued exercise regime. I'm waiting for our bit of snow to go so I can get out and do more walking. Another frigid morning here but should be the last as we are going into a warming trend.
Will be getting back to my income tax this morning and hopefully complete it. I think I can transfer some of DH's unused credits to me to avoid paying.

Debbie ... it will take a very pointed conversation to get all of her information. Are you her only child? If so, you need to become her POA or if you have siblings, that decision needs to be made. It requires an attorney to draw up the papers and best to do while your mom is mentally sound. If it were me, I would visit your mom on a day you can call Social Security together. Be present with her so you can speak for her if necessary (she will have to give permission). And find out what her local office number for SSA is ... the main line takes an eternity to get through.

Not a fan of goats milk BUT, while growing up and raising goats, we had to drink it. It was odd that I could tell which goat(we had 4 nannies) the milk came from. My goat had the mildest tasting. Her and her sisters were Togenbergs , our other two were Nubians- their milk was a lot stronger tasting(fit their personalities.
The last year we had goats, we ended up with 9 baby goats in the living room- one nanny died having a c-section with triplets(she was our best goat), the other three got mastitis so lots of bottle feeding. Mom got rid of the goats after that.

Hello ladies!
It's a bleak rainy day here. I studied some. At this stage I'm just looking to learn the vocabulary. I learned that I need to plan a study break without food. When I was in college in Las Vegas, I used to eat at a drive thru pizza place on my way to class. Very convenient.
I've been eating cabbage and carrots with a mix of fat-free ranch and skinny girl poppyseed dressing to make Cole slaw. It's pretty good. Very
crunchy. And under fifty calories for a portion that fills me up. But I still want a hot mocha latte.

My recipe is called Emergency Dump and Bake Fried Rice.....a recipe by recipetineats. I didn't have Chinese cooking wine but had Mirin so used that instead. Cut back a bit on the soy sauce too and used frozen vegetables. I was surprised that it was so good and rice was perfectly cooked. Just google Emergency Dump and Bake Fried Rice and I'm sure you will get the recipe. I think the bacon is what makes this so tasty…..didn’t cut back on that at all!

Rebecca - such wonderful photos. I am so happy for you and Lee, having your boys back for a little while. It did everyone good, didn't it?
Lisa - you are getting me excited to mow! Weatherman says end of next week we'll have a few dry days, temps near 70. If it wasn't so chilly out right now I'd be tempted to get the weed eater going. Good article, by the way. Thanks for the link.
Betsy - sorry the taxman came after you. I was kind of sweating last year's taxes as a "single", luckily made it OK. This year I have to take a small RMD and might just throw most of it into withholding. I'm like Barbara, I probably over-withhold but at least it's there and I'm not tempted to dip into it for something I really don't need.
Tracey - sorry I forgot to mention - what great luck getting in with that doctor. What a relief to have someone who will get to know you as a person and keep on top of things before they get to ER stage. Hope the meet n greet goes well.
My own visit with Dr. Paul this morning was great. He went over Dr. D's notes and lab order, did his own exam of my foot which was OK, hardly any swelling, and my finger joints. He said "we'll run MY labs. Ignore Dr. D's. You don't have RA!" I can't remember everything he ordered, I think the sed rate for arthritis and threw in kidney (creatinine) and thyroid. And A1C - I have high fasting morning glucose, we wanted to see if my walking after meals has helped.
I wonder if they test kidney function a lot in case we need to be on certain meds that are hard on kidneys - better to know ahead of time?
He also said keep walking with weights as much as I want. Let pain be my guide. My appointment was for 11. I arrived there at 10:40, waited a couple minutes in the waiting room, then nurse Kellie came and got me, put me in an exam room. Dr. Paul was in there in two minutes, we had a good chat and the foot & finger exam, then I got the blood draw and was out of there by 11:10.
Kellie told me Dr. D at the Ortho clinic often sees FIFTY patients a day. And he is the community foot and ankle surgeon. Everyone is crossing fingers he doesn't burn out early. He's in his early 50's.
That's the update. Think I need a quick nap.

Thank you!!
I have two sisters. I am sure mom has picked me over the other two.
She has had her will revised after dad passed away. I know for sure she did it because I got a letter from her lawyer but I don't know what it says exactly.
When I took her for ear surgery, they asked about POA or at least I think that is what they were referring to and she said I did .
I just need to get that information for sure, so I know. I have a few nephews that are trying to worm their way in. Neither of them are living in state and don't really have their act together financially to keep the property the way mom wants
I will stay an extra day to be there on a Monday to have her call or just take her down to the office, even if it is to just go down to make an appointment.
It will have to be on another visit. Right now I am trying to balance time with her but also time at home if dh has another blow up with his mom. There will be one on Monday because he is going away for the weekend to do another comic-con.(I can't be up at mom's if he is about to have a melt down again)

I never had it, other than in Pico de Gallo maybe but didn't know what it was. Didn't eat out very often growing up and had never heard of it until more recently.
Only herbs I remember mom cooking with were basic- rosemary, thyme, sage, oregeno and garlic. Nothing else. Maybe a little chili powder but that was rare.2 -
I remember the first night I arrived in Mexico City. I went out for a wander around the cathedral area and decided to have some soup in a café. I sat up at the counter and had no idea what I was ordering. (1993) There was some strange unidentifiable taste in it that I had never had before. I thought it was amazing, and seemed to me to exemplify this wonderful place I had arrived in. I now know that flavour was cilantro, and for me, it will always mean Mexico.

The leave both sailor sons took literally mended our family's mental health most definitely. I think it surprised my sailors how many family members reached out and came to the "family pizza night" event. They are an important piece of the complete family puzzle. I think my youngest learned its just easier to reach out every week or so, then of course wait years. There's no insertion of guilt that way. I tried to not make him feel guilty, but when he saw on the family email that I was taking anti depression meds, he knew he had to call home. I am off them since the holidays, and its nice to think upon youngest son with a warm and fuzzy feeling, not panic or worry. He actually called this past Monday so the behavior of active correspondence with family continues.💖😁⚓👍🏼
