need to take back the statement about Ezie's mom- She came in with a bag from Bath and Body Works- a trio of "Happy Birthday" fragrance pack, a candle and a body wash.
Still waiting for dh to bring my food home- HUNGRY(sitting here hungry while he sits at his mom's with her complaining about him being gone for the weekend)
He should be home soon as his friend said they were leaving in half an hour.

There must be a happy medium that I haven’t found yet.

I am so glad I've got a sit-stand desk at work now which allows me to continue working but vary it between sitting and standing. I'm also looking at one for home too.
One of the worst positions for my hips is sitting in bed with my back propped up with pillows and my legs relatively straight out in front. They get so painful that way I can hardly walk when I do get up.

HAPPYBIRTHDAY!!
so is your birthday on the 8th or the 9th?
The one thing I am doing for myself is opening up the baklava I got for Valentines day(still sealed) and having "birthday baklava"3 -
Rita - thanks for the kidney diet, I'll look it over - that origami looks like fun.
Heather - glad your appointments are moving along. As I type this right now it's nearly 10 pm on Friday, so I'm guessing you'll have to wait until Monday for the X-Ray results.
Machka - Happy Birthday!
Debbie - so glad Ezie's mom came through with some nice birthday gifts. hope your DH gets home with your food soon!
Footsie update - I made an appointment with Dr. Matt, soonest I can get in is 2 weeks. He deals with folks with diabetes and sports injuries, so I'll be going to him for a third opinion. In the meantime, I've been cutting back on the walking, leaving the weights on the table for the time being, elevating and icing and it's pretty good today, no real noticeable swelling.
Good chicken news yesterday - Fairy laid an egg! I was about ready to give up on her, it's been months. Thelma and Gladys have been chugging along, one egg every 25 to 30 hours so some days I'd get one, some days I'd get two.
And as I drove the old Camry into town this morning, I realized she's 20 years old this year. I bet she'll go another 20. Almost 83,000 miles on her and she's still peppy.

Celebrating!
I walked, slowly, for 20 minutes today! (broken up into 2 sessions, with a 5 minute rest in between) It’s the first time I’ve been able to do that in over 3 years!
Tracey: Love your new haircut.
Lisa: I hear ya on the no coffee before the test. I love my coffee and dread not being able to drink any when I wake up. At least my appointment is early in the morning, (6:30) so I’ll have a thermos of coffee waiting on me in the car when the tests are over.
Rebecca: Your grandson is such a cutie!
Thankful for:
It’s been cooler the last few days than it was earlier in the week, as well as raining off and on. But I think spring is definitely here. We have 60’s and 70’s expected for next week, and the daffodils are blooming! New green grass is popping up, the trees are budding, and our wild raspberry bushes are covered in green leaves.
My DH and I ordered takeout from our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch, and went to the park to eat today. Thankfully the rain stopped and the sun managed to come out for a little while. We used to do that a lot earlier in our relationship, but I’ve been too sick the last few years to do it anymore. I could tell it made him happy. ❤️
Weekend plans:
Saturday I plan on spending most of the day with my son at the nursing home. He sleeps a lot, but he does have moments of “wakefulness” Where he will smile at me, partially open his eyes, raise his eyebrows, or squeeze my hand to my conversations with him. I’m still hopeful of him coming out of his coma, but there are some concerns I need to talk to his doctor about.
Sunday morning is my congregation’s meeting, then I’m going to plant some seeds in “Greenhouse Totes” in the afternoon, to get seedlings ready for planting in my garden.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy, happy birthday Debbie and Machka!!!
Lawyer gave tenant from Hades a 14-day pay or vacate order on March 5. We have not heard a peep from her since. Very unlike her. Maybe she got the message we are serious. I have a friend coming over twice a day to help me feed critters while my DD is in Vegas. Those are the times I feel most vulnerable. Going to eat some fish this weekend while I am on my own as DD does not like fish.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA6 -
Machka - MANY HAPPY RETURNS for your birthdays!
For her 75th birthday, my friend G , who lives alone, took herself off on a trip to Cornwall, stopping on the way in Devon. She went to two lovely hotels with beach views, and treated herself to a window table at a famous beach seafood restaurant for her birthday dinner. She sent photos as she was sitting there. She said it was so beautiful she could hardly believe it was real. That's the way to treat yourself on your birthday.
I am looking forward to going to the sports injury clinic. They treat the Olympic team and champions. I didn’t want to go there until I'd ruled out the obvious culprits. The problem is not the availability of practioners, it is that I have personal and political objections to paying for private treatment. We have a health service which is being run into the ground and is not fit for purpose. I should be able to get free physio treatment but the waiting list is a year long. In my state of pain, I consider that 'cruel and unusual punishment ', in other words, 'torture '.
I also have an extremely low income. I don't earn nearly enough to pay tax. Therefore, if something major needs to be done, I need to cancel the cruises to pay for it. The cruise costs come out of deep savings, which I can only access once a year. They are nearly exhausted. That's why I need the results quickly. I will need a medical certificate to get our money back.
I still may decide that I can't go because of the mobility issues. I still need the doctor's backing.
In the past, 20 years ago, I went to a chiropractor for the same issue, and he was useless. He had no idea what the problem was as I sat crying on his table. He also did acupuncture, which dulled things a bit.
Maybe things have moved on! The only time in the past when I got any real help was from a sports clinic, about my knee. She cured me. Something that hospitals had missed over 40 years, despite X-rays, arthrograms etc.
So, I have faith, and hope!
Meanwhile, I am doing some simple exercises from a sensible physio on YouTube. Nothing to scare the horses. So far, so good!

My birthday is on the 9th.
The 9th is the 8th in Canada.
The 10th is the 9th in Canada.
So to avoid confusion, I celebrate for at least 2 days and usually 3 or more.

My husband did that when he came out of his coma. He'd frown at the tubes coming out of everywhere, then smile when someone came near, and raise his eyebrows if something new happened ... which for him was quite frequently because everything seemed new.
For a while his eyes pointed different directions but gradually they more or less aligned.
Sounds like your son is out of his coma but he's probably well and truly into Post Traumatic Amnesia. My husband spend 7 weeks in PTA.
It's a long slow process ... but it is progress.

There's nothing wrong with going private. We have private health care ... I put myself on public waiting lists and if I get tired of the wait, I go private.
With my deviated septum situation, I didn't realise how bad it was, so I opted to stay on the ENT waiting list for 5 years. Finally I saw someone who told me it was pretty bad but unfortunately, I would be on another waiting list for a year or two more if I stayed public. I switched to private and got it done a few month later, right in the middle of the first COVID flare up.
Chiropractors vary widely. I tend to prefer those who work in sports medicine, treat sports teams, etc.

Machka - PoliticalI have had a lifelong objection to private medicine. I don't support private education either. It truly hurts my principles to go private. Unfortunately, our government has an agenda of screwing the public sector, Including elderly care, children's services etc. It is broken. So..... I refuse to be a victim of political ideology and will take myself to a private clinic. I'm still waiting for the X-ray results though, to determine whether I need operations. I hope not.
Today has not been a good day for pain so far. Did strip Edie 's bed though. John will make it.
Waitrose delivery this morning. Plus new T shirts.

Taking Machka's suggestion, I've just rung the very local osteopath centre and left a message for an appointment this afternoon. It certainly can't hurt. The centre has very good reviews. I enjoyed a couple of massages there last year. They don't open until 10 am, so will get back to me.
We keep on keeping on.

Good morning ladies!
I received my next book 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle. The beginning is standard, write down ten reasons why I want to lose weight, and such. I have a notebook ready to go.
But I can feel my mind already getting evasive. For me, family comes before weight loss. But normally there's no conflict. And of course sensible eating is better than weight loss at any
cost. Excuses are popping up.
Anyway, today I start with the journaling. That should be fun.
It's going to rain. And I have to go to the drug store. Maybe soup for dinner.
April hugs for you and your son.
Heather hope you find answers soon!
Have a marvelous day my friends!

Heather - happy for you getting the appointment so quickly. I have a good feeling they'll be able to shed some light on this for you.
Vicki- very glad you've been able to adjust your schedule to 4 days per week unless there are extenuating circumstances. I understand you needing the job for the insurance to make sure your DH is covered. We went through similar when my DH was diagnosed with RA 30 years ago, there was a period of time neither of us had coverage through an employer back then and we ate through savings quickly getting private insurance for him. His premiums were sky-high.
Sue in WA - glad your lawyer has given her the ultimatum. If she doesn't comply, what's the next step? Sending a guardian angel to your house this weekend to oversee everything.
April - good job getting that walking in. Starting slow and building up is a good way to go about it. Sending heaps of good thoughts your way for your upcoming heart test. Glad to hear you are getting some response from your son. Machka has such a good handle on recovery from brain injury from her DH's experience. I keep thinking we are all here on this thread for a reason. .
Don't forget about Daylight Savings Time coming up early tomorrow morning for most of us.
Back later-

Good morning, my chickens, from the chilly biting breaths of the swiftly waning winter of the Arkansas River Valley, spring waiting in the wings as we turn the clocks back tonight.
Hard to keep a coherent thought this morning, with six trips to the bathroom in the first two hours... all the days can't be good, but these mornings have me starting out tired--I just try not to get frustrated and get some reading done--one of the few things that can be done in fits and spurts.
I think things have settled down enough to get some yoga done, and then we'll see where the day goes from there. The rain has finally moved through, and supposed to be sun for the rest of the day and then for a few more days to come. I need that - it's been gray since Tuesday, and that wears on me.
Read everything, not holding onto much this morning, but thinking about all,
Love,

When I found MFP at age 62, I was a veteran of decades of failed attempts to lose weight and keep it off. I decided to make weight loss and health my top priority. I gave away my cookie baking ingredients and pans and decided that I would find fame as something other than the baker of the world's greatest chocolate chip cookies, I gave up food and eating as a source of recreation and entertainment and planned simple healthy meals, met my friends for a walk rather than a meal, sought every opportunity to be active, read about ways to eat and think in healthy ways. I bought an exercise bike so I could exercise indoors while watching TV or listening to books or podcasts, Things take time but one day at a time, I made changes that have served me well. Today I am approaching my 78th birthday and am still walking two hours a day and riding my exercise bike for a similar amount and have kept off the 50 pounds I wanted to lose. It's possible to change,

I made my Cole slaw in case I get hungry this afternoon. It's one Tablespoon of fat free ranch (17 calories) mixed with 2T skinny girl poppyseed dressing (10 calories) plus about half a cup of chopped raw cabbage, a quarter cup of matchstick carrots and a quarter cup of green pepper. So maybe fifty calories total. So I have that on hand for snacking. It's very crunchy and filling.
Barbie thanks! You are always an inspiration to us!
