Good morning, all, from the foggy, foggy Arkansas River Valley foothills,
All my beautiful noises are making my environment happy, washer, dryer, dishwasher in the instance. Already put a load of dishes away. When I'm the cook, as I was yesterday, there are LOTS of dishes, so the second load of dishes is going through now. One thing I've not learned from Corey is how to clean up as I go. He blinks a lot when he walks in a kitchen where I've been cooking all afternoon, bless him. I have a much higher tolerance for chaos than he does.
When I'm up to it, I'll head outside and get my bird feeders rehung - I got inexpensive retractable pulleys for them as well as my plant hangers. The pulleys have pull brakes, so you can bring them down and they'll stay down until you pull the strap again and they reel back up. Not pretty things, but that won't matter with the bird feeder. I will probably either paint or cover the ones I'm using for the plant hangers. I do love being able to pull the plants down and water them at a level where I can see what I'm doing!
First have to retape my knees with flex tape, then do my 20 minutes of yoga - I sleep significantly better, I'm finding, when I've done yoga that day. My body stays looser all day long. Also sleep better with the tape on, as my knees don't get in a bind. They do fine through showers and exercise for three to four days, but my skin needs a few hours to breathe without the tape on every so often.
Later, my dears,
Hope it's a good day for all,
Lisa in AR

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBBIE!!!
Do something nice for yourself. Buy yourself some flowers.
Hair went OK, though she took a shave more off than I asked for. It's much cheaper than my usual place. The hairdresser has been on a hospital list to see a gynaecologist for a year.
I've been doing gentle exercises for hips and wearing my gym trainers in the house as slippers today. Plus I put my arch supports on. So far an improvement. I was in less pain walking to the hairdresser. It's about 100 yards.
I've got mushrooms to use up, so I think I'll do a chicken stroganoff with fresh kale and a bit of rice.

The docs receptionist rang me to reschedule my brachial pulse appointment, plus potassium bloods for next Thursday. I'm pretty sure now it's not vascular, but I'll have the test as I've got to go in anyway. I asked about the X-ray results, but they aren't back yet. She said there is a note for the doc to ring me, but they might wait until my appointment on Thursday. I said, No thank you, I would like to be rung ASAP.. She said she would make a note of it. I will ring on Monday if I haven't heard.
Things are moving at least.
PS I've just now booked myself in for an assessment at a private sports injury clinic that my son recommended. In 10 days time, which will give me time to collect all my results. John can take me up there and I can get an Uber home. It's not outrageously expensive for a 45 minute assessment.

Well I sent my Dad to the senior center for a group called Mind Matters. He came back and said it was for people with dementia. I said it was for people with memory issues and he has memory issues.
He is in total denial about his limitations which makes it so hard to help him.
We also had to have the conversation about tree work again. I told him no tree work.
Then he needed help paying for the newspaper. And more help with the checkbook.
I guess I am useful.

Good morning from snowy Nebraska. It is really coming down and adding up. I am happy as it has made acouple of my girls change their weekend plans and they can work. So I am off the weekend. Thank you everyone for your support. It means a lot to me.
Annie --Thanks for your concern. I have to come in Monday before work and have lab work done.
Rita--So happy for you that your lab work shows so much improvement.
Tracey--I really like it.
Sue--I pray they work quick and get your tenant out of there. Please be careful when you are there a lone.
Debbie--Happy Birthday. I hope you do something just for you.
I am trying to go down to 4 days per week and it was working until someone calls in sick for a week. I have looked at another job, the problem there is we have to have insurance and because DH has long haul covid it is hard to find coverage. Sometimes it just over whelms me, but One day at a time until we are out of debt and I can quit. Thanks everyone for being here for me.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE9 -
Vicki - I really get having to stay because of insurance--it's not an environment where we can be without it anymore, and especially with long-haul covid. We're here holding you up, dear.
Heather - Glad things are moving with all your leg issues. It will be a lot easier to make decisions regarding cruises when you've got information in hand.
Feeling quite smug and virtuous - Did yoga with crunches, knee pushups and hand stretches, as well as 12 minutes on the elliptical.
Also finished re-reading a favorite trilogy - the Liz Danger series by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. She's all kinds of funny, and when she combines mystery/suspense with Bob Mayer, they've produced some enjoyable reads. Agnes and the Hitman was one of the best books I've read in years, but I haven't read the other two in that series yet. I think I'll dig out some of her backlist and reread.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR3 -
Debbie-I hope you have a happy birthday even though it isn't what you planned.
Heather-your appointments are moving along nicely now.
Home for the day. Will do bits of work off and on while kids are here (they will be on Arizona time) so I might as well keep some emails cleared, etc. Right now I am packing up some more Goodwill stuff, throwing in laundry. When I get back from Goodwill I will clean the back bedroom floors and dust so it will be ready (need to inflate mattresses). Blankets I ordered for arrival today are now coming tomorrow-considering cancelling them but I do have extra quilts here so I may let it go.
Off to continue prepping and cleaning.

Her hair looks like mine but mine is a bit longer and not red.
Growing up, it was such a pain. Mom would make me set it on those hard plastic rollers each time I washed my hair, Thankfully only once a week(on Sundays if I remember right).Sleeping on those things was so hard. Also always had to have barrettes in the sides to keep it out of my face.
Was great when I got married- no more rollers unless I wanted to. I did for a while but now that there are so many great products for curly hair, I embrace my curls and enjoy them.5 -
Debbie the very happiest of birthdays to you! Sorry you have to work all day and no lunch with DH. Instead of cleaning and decluttering the house, can you give yourself some kind of birthday treat? Visit your mom? Take a walk???
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
Thanks- no, no visit to mom's this weekend. I have to stay here to check on MIL.
Supposed to rain both Saturday and Sunday so no walking or gardening.
Dh just gave me my gift- NO thought what so ever put into it. Pulled out his wallet, handed me $100. Not even a card, or "happy birthday".
I do have a little gift to open later this evening from former hubby. I am sure he put at least a little more thought into it.
Talked with my two best friends this morning. My friend of about 55 yrs and my former hubby both text me first thing. Stayed in bed with a cup of tea while we chatted.
Now waiting for Ezie to get here.
Packing up the last of the stuff for the show

Finally getting back to our quiet little normal. Dropping off eldest at Sea-Tac was physically taxing for me! We left at 10:30 pm and got to the airport at 2:30 pm. Son was in line to check in with AMC (airlift mobility command) from then to about 2:30 am when he checked his 2 seabag in. There were a lot of people waiting Space A which is after a flight has check in all traveling on orders they take the space available people. Some had kids, and pets! One smaller kid in line pretty much had a meltdown, poor kid. After that we walked him to the security line and said our goodbyes. I was really too tired to cry, but he looked relieved that we stayed and made sure he got checked in. We drove home nd got home at 4:30 am, sleeping until 11 am. Rephrase, I slept in that late. Husband was probably just 8 or 9 am. His flight did not leave until 7 am which is crazy, but that was its normal leave time. I think with checking orders each person takes a bit to process. Then with the space A people as well. They even had a copy machine by the ticket counter, so military could make the necessary copies of their orders.
Here's Athena's toy Horsey that eldest son got, landing in Japan.

Allie ... Ovaltine! My mother swore by it for years when she couldn't sleep. A cup of ovaltine in the middle of the night and she then soon fell asleep. When cleaning out her house before moving into the assisted living facility, we found cases of Ovaltine. She loved the chocolate flavored.

Annie ... don't tell your dad about the light that is out!!
Debbie ... Happy Birthday!
Vicki ... Is your husband close to getting Medicare? The insurance thing really does stink. Still going to worry about you though ...
Today was Spring Clean the kitchen table and shelves. Did that and then tackled the family room. I can only do so much there as the shelves and walls are covered with DH's things. However, I cleaned and sanitized the furniture (leather and the dog likes it) and did a thorough vacuum of the carpet along with deodorizing and vacuuming again!! Then helped DH haul large branches down to the road for pick-up.
Barbara ... even though I eat within a certain timeframe, I have been doing CICO the past few days. My husband thinks I eat too much in a short period of time. Sadly ... he is correct. Logging always helps keep me honest when I start getting "creative" with my meals.
We're supposed to get gnarly weather Saturday night into Monday. Still, Spring is definitely on its way!

Heather - Chestnut would have red undertones right? I used to have a lot of red in my hair, I used a cheap dye last time and am not impressed with it. Sometimes a few extra dollars is money well spent.
I’m glad you’re going to get to see your brother. I’m sure he understands about you not being up to all of the work that goes into a visit.
When my hip was so bad for years one thing that really helped me was when someone finally told me to set a timer to get up and move for a couple of minutes and not sit longer than 20. Over time of course the time of each increased, I can tell now when I’ve been sitting too long. I have been lately because being on my feet hurts my plantar fasciitis, sitting hurts my back and hips. There must be a happy medium that I haven’t found yet.
Allie - I had a sleepless night last night too, so frustrating.
Barbara - some days are just like the day you had yesterday. I hope today is better for you.
I used massage to get my back and such back in working order. Those first few hurt, but was well worth it.
Lanette - that’s so sweet. Lauryn and I look so much alike that there have been times looking at pictures I think “I don’t remember that” and then realize it’s her. We even sound alike on the phone.
Several people commented on how much younger I look, funnily enough I stopped at a beauty counter yesterday to try to find some moisturizers to help with some sags.
My Mom and Grandmother were very youthful looking. I’ll try to scan a picture today as Kaitlyn and I are going through them.
Annie - a local handyman would probably change that lightbulb out for you. We have a local FB group called Odd Jobs & Chores, people out what they need and then people that can help respond. The price and such is usually done privately.
Lisa - I would love to see a picture of your pulley system. I would love to have hanging planter, but watering has really kept me from making that leap.
Thanks for the Jennifer Cruisie suggestion, I’ve read a couple of her books and really enjoyed her writing style and characters.
Debbie - I’m so sorry your husband didn’t put any thought into a gift for you. We don’t really do much for birthdays, but it’s nice if we do that thought is there.
Rebecca - I bet Athena loves the pictures her Uncle is sharing of her toy, hopefully he keeps it up.
How sweet is Eli!
I’ve caught up, just waiting for Kaitlyn to arrive, she was supposed to be here at noon, but when she went to start her car it was beeping and lights were flashing. She is dropping Brodey off at work and then coming, but this out her way behind. Brodey’s boss is going to give him a drive home so she doesn’t have to rush. I’m sure it will be a late night so I probably won’t be checking in again until tomorrow.
I’m just waiting for the final grade from this session, I think I did well on the quiz. They word things so messed up, I struggle with them.
Happy International Women’s Day!

Tracey - I'll bet you'll end up with another 100%. These are the pulleys - Got three of them from Temu: So far, I'm pretty happy - the lines are about six feet long, and they work on the same brake system as a seatbelt, so you have to jiggle a little to get it to move or retract.2

thanks for all the birthday wishes. I appreciate every one of them.
Havent heard "happy birthday" from anyone in the house(dh, son, daycare girl or her mom when she dropped her off)-dh did acknowledge it-asked how if felt to be 62.
Even my back up plan is changed. DH was too busy to go pick up lunch so will pick my food(will now be my dinner) when he goes and gets food for his mom. Only good part is with him picking mine up late, it will be just for me and I won't have to share- I can have it for two meals.
Had half a corned beef sandwich(only one slice of bread, the cheap wheat bread so not a lot of calories) and three slices of corned beef. That will hold me over until he brings dinner. Needed something-all I have had before that was hot tea(3 or 4 cups so far).
Just eating a little, I can have a big bowl of gumbo and half the hush puppies. SO nice to find really good hush puppies, finally.
I should have done the dishes last night. Now they are all waiting for me. I will wash them a bit later, after Ezie goes home. Only one more hour or so and she should go home. Found out that not only do I have her all day instead of just after school, but her mom is on vacation all week.
She knew today was my birthday but still brought her regular time and for the whole day- oh well.

April, congrats on the smaller size shirts.
Tracey, cute hair cut. That’s pretty close to the style I’m trying out right now with my newly curly hair. I will say I am loving letting it dry naturally. Also congrats on the presentation.
I love spring weather. I got over 13,000 steps today walking outside.

Did a DVD by Kerry Katona today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a yoga dVd
After doing the DVD, walked on the treadmill and then went to Aldi then cvs to pick up a prescription
Tracey – I knew you’d knock that presentation right out of the park!
Allie – the TV ALWAYS puts me to sleep. Vince has told the doc that he doesn’t need to give me any anesthetic, just put a TV in the OR
I could swear I made a post last night, but for the life of me I can’t find it. Maybe it’ll appear
Debbie – happy birthday
We all need to celebrate National Woman’s Day. Have an (unsweetened) ice tea
Heather – so glad you’re getting into that clinic in a timely manner. It really disturbed me that you were having to wait so long
Yea Lisa – you go girl
Rebecca – your grandson is such a sweetie
Vince wanted to try Culvers. Unfortunately, all their fish is deep fried. So I had a grilled chicken sandwich. I did splurge and had one of their concrete mixers, But I did get the mini size. Just water to drink. Honestly, I wasn’t super impressed. I would much rather have gone to a good seafood restaurant.
After Culvers Vince wanted to walk around the parking lot (woooo) so I put on my sneakers and went with him. I will work some on Jess’ tree skirt then depending on the time, I’ll go for a walk
