Welcome Jared, although I am 66 yo and 6'2", we are close to the same initial weights and goals. I started back on a nutrition and fitness plan in the fall. I was at 218 initially, and now I am down to 190, with 185 being my goal weight. I do weight HIIT M-W-F, and cardio T-T-S, with Sunday being my free day. My fitness level has improved dramatically, with my BioAge currently at 46 yo. For me, the binge eating is a lot easier to control when I am accurately tracking my caloric intake. It has also been very helpful for me with accountability to work with a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Good luck with your fitness journey!

Hey brother, this is super inspirational thank you! Hat's off to you for your commitment to your fitness. Same thing with me, tracking my caloric intake helped a lot with binge eating. However I falter at times when I use binge eating to medicate and run from emotions instead of processing them. I am working through this though and building more self-awareness upon it.

Again I really appreciate the warm welcome and your response, reading about your progress and success had me smiling from ear to ear.

Great job @mikeyrowlands with staying on task with your duties. Know that those emotions will always pass, it is the law of life. Eventually everything passes, again great job brother.

Welcome all to March! My goal for this month is to continue to lose 1/2 lb a week and to focus on cholesterol reduction by increasing my fiber intake to 30gms/day and limit red meat intake to one 4-6 oz serving with the goal of bringing my cholesterol levels from high to borderline. Wishing everyone a marvelous month!

Hey guys! New job is exciting but demanding.

Love this, nothing more exciting than a new opportunity. Good luck, as @alvarotaipe12 says, stressful and challenging times pass. Enjoy the moment.

A lot of inspiration in the channel, I love it. Cancelled the gym for my wife as she cant/won't go now really, the price went up a bit for me, so it's make or break time. Get back to the routine and get training.

Another day calling to get new service, oh snap, my phone is locked. I didn’t know this so another few days to get it unlocked. Oh my this is getting me all stressed out, only good thing about that I’m not hungry so by by excess poundage. The house is oddly quiet without the phone ringing of the hook. Oops that dates me as phones aren’t on the hook anymore. that reminds me of a funny story. Grandson (he is 13) he asked me what was hanging on the wall, I said it’s the phone, u should have seen the look on his face!! He asked if it works and it doesn’t, I told him I might need it someday. lol His age group has never seen a wall mounted phone or even how to use it.

    Hey everyone!

    Wanted to share some wins:

    • I've weighed myself the last two days, one of my goals this week is to weigh in daily. I'm around the 212-213 Lbs range.
    • I've woken up on time without snoozing and drank water immediately (Another goal of mine, drinking water immediately after rising also helps me with waking up)
    • Keeping track of the weights I'm lifting at the gym on paper
    • I drank about 113 Oz of water today!

I just about remember my grandma's phone table, a little knee high thing. The phone had an old dial pad on it that you had to turn with your finger for each number. I guess that's where the phrase 'dial a number comes from.

Also had an old phonebook that you could flip by putting a little selector on a letter to open that page, all very high tech and used to get told off all the time for 'playing with the phone'.

Getting up without a snooze optimumme, well done, something I have been unable to do for 46 years 🤣

I read the below this Morning. It's interesting, I need some changes work wise, in work, following the stuff I did last week but also personally, am I going to get what I want from this job or am I beating my head against a wall.

I don't have a plan, so I'm still bobbling along in the sea, drifting in the wind.

I don't know what the universe is or where I am. I am also getting frustrated by things that are either my own fault because I don't have a plan, OR because I'm banging my head against the wall.

I've got a meeting today, maybe I can bring it up, although my boss and I over the last year seem to misunderstand each other and it can be difficult.

"Someone who does not know that there is an ordered universe does not know where he is. Someone who does not know the natural purpose of the universe does not know who he is or what the universe is.

Someone who fails in any one of these ways could not tell the purpose of his own existence either. So what do you think of the man who fears or courts the applause of an audience who have no idea where they are or who they are?"

This was Marcus Aurelius. Book 8 section 52. From my very dog eared Meditations copy.

It does affect me in a broader sense, I am tired after work, race home, only to doomscroll, I'm not even enjoying playstation time which was always my escape. I'm not organising fishing because I don't feel I can properly relax when I go. It is mentally draining, like being on high alert all the time.

May be selfish, I'm a good leader to my team, or I think I am, they can be quite needy and we often plan things or adjust around their personal issues. I can't remember the last time one of them or my own leader asked me how I was as an open question. Maybe it's just work, I don't 'expect it' but I spend over 40 hours each week here with them.

Ive got all the tools, time and support, I just struggle to put it together.

This was a bit of a braindump sorry, its not a cry for help or attention, I haven't slept too well this week and am a bit tired, I was tapping away and just put my thoughts to the paper.

I'll see how I get on with my boss, I have a meeting later and maybe I'll bring it up for discussion.

I'll also plan to take my wife for a walk when I get home now that we have later and colourful sunsets. I'll do a couple of puzzles, read and get an early night.

Oh yeah, I've been reading this puzzle book. Murdle, its full of the murder mystery logic puzzles with an interesting story element attached. They get harder in 3 stages. I got 2 from Amazon for about £10 each and have done one or a couple each Morning.

I've been volunteering at SXSW, we have been heading out at 6:30am and we get home about 7:00pm. Long days, but a lot of fun. I missed my Monday workout because of the scheduling, but got down this morning. It felt good to hit the weights.

hi, lost a couple pounds, I need to check if this dropped me from overweight catagory, ya for today! I have been hanging out in overweight for around 6-8 months. I hope it holds for a while or drop that bowling ball or 10 lb sack of flour. I am short, 5ft, so any amt of weight gain looks terrible. that good ole spare tire effect.

oh ya phone is still jacked up, i have a ticket in for it to get it unlocked. so no phone till friday.. only good thing about that is no boss is calling me to ask how to do something. This says I have been on the job way too long!! course my bosses are 35 year younger that I am.. here is a funny thought this person(me) running with the younger crowd and keeping up with them.

Amazing progress walkintofit, well done. It's always interesting to see the kind of weight we carry around in a different context, such as a bowling ball or bag of flour.

I love the volunteering interbeing, what kind of work do you do with them?

Decent enough evening for me, no walk as my wife had already been out, so we had dinner and a bit of quality time. I did get to bed a bit earlier and my smart watch seems to think I have higher energy levels in response, so all good there 🤣

Goal today is a simple one, pick up a decent lunch and track it using cronometer.

I'm missing my phone, didn't relize how much i use it, even for stupid stuff: social media. That really is a fake kind of social time. I would rather have a ful on face to face convo. How about u? my dil likes to have text kind of convo. i want to hear the words cause then u can guage the feeling behind the works.

I think I will do some kind of intermittant fasting on my days off. It does help rn.

Scale moved downward along with body fat. Is it the thing of starve the fat? u know like the old saying starve a cold or feed a fever thing? ya I wasn't very hungry this week, so did cut the calories substatinly (btw where is spell check) too much stress. Got the phone working finally now on to other things.

Love the volunteering, well done, I must email the local brain charity as I can dedicate some work time to volunteering.

Walkingtofit, I agree, social media was great 18 years or so ago, when it was picture sharing of events and things people were doing. Its now just an advertising algorithm.

You can't beat a face to face conversation, its what we are built for, body language, active listening, these are all inherent skills and important ones. Plus, its important to make time for people that matter and for people to make time for you, as you are important also.

I heard something interesting today about goal setting. Not a philosopher or icon, just someone sharing their experiences.

"Set the kind of goals that force you to make something of yourself in order to achieve them".

I love it, the goals should stretch you, take you out of your comfort zone, teach you something new.

I want to be much healthier and well out of the obese range.

I want more freedom in my time for work, that I'm less a 'part of the machine' and have more time for myself and my family. This may be working for myself but I'd need to work this out, a different job that meets these needs would be fine for now as this is my priority.

I want another motorbike 🤣 I sold my last one just before covid, it needed work, insurance and tax so I sold it to avoid the cost. Bought a new car and now I have no bike, I miss the feeling of freedom and wind in my face, as well as the adrenaline. Strangely, my mind was clearest and felt more rested after being out on the bike.z

I want to do more engineering work, building work around the house and repairing tools and machines, repair old bikes, I was going to be an engineer originally and somehow ended up in an office, I need to scratch that itch more, I enjoy it, it doesn't need to make me any money but that would be nice.

I want to engage socially with people who share some of my hobbies, in person (per walkintofit) and grow my social world.

I work in a big box store, I meet a lot of people. Strangely enough I am basically a loner now days. I have 2 close friends. One i work with the other she is from friend from junior high school. Hubby took up the slack of friends. He has been gone over a year now. There is a huge void. Trying to fill that void by staying busy. Its getting to spring time so maybe that will be the uptick. Could you see me dating? sounds terrifying rn. I haven't dated in years, the world has changed so much since then. I don't go to bars or church anymore. So that leaves finding someone in the store. or on the street cruising main street. lol That is where i met hubby , driving around the "cruise" in another town. The first time I kissed him I knew right then that he would be the one i would marry. I'm pretty sure that won't happen again.

How did you meet your significant other?

We met at work. We were both working at the same on-campus convenience store during college.

We worked together, I wasn't going to hang around on Isle of Man, I was going to come home, but we hit it off, were there for 10 years together, got married and then moved back to UK, 7 years or so ago.

If you are out and about mixing with and meeting people, you have the chance to come across someone that may just ring your bell. If you concentrate on you and doing things you enjoy, you may well meet someone but at least you are doing stuff for you.

Tracked my meal yesterday, cheated with a pizza and fries but managed to stay within calories. We go again today. More water and maybea snack at 3pm ish ro hold off the hunger feeling at home time.

Hey guys, I loved reading all of your comments. I myself also need to get into dating and seeing your guy's post was inspiring. Here to report that the last week I haven't been as diligent with tracking calories and I also believe I missed thursday's check-in. It feels like it's been a while since I posted, however progress over perfection is always my motto. I am relatively back on track this week and have made it a goal to wake up on time and do my evening routine right after I walk my dog. I've been consistent with it thus far. Today I weighed in at 211.6 LBS (Not to shabby). Hope everyone is doing well in their own journey's. I look forward to seeing more of your wins on here!

We aren't counting optimumme, no judgement here.

Wins, that's a good question, lots happening, but I've been true to logging this week and seemed to have stayed within calories which is interesting.

Tracking is the first action of my health priority and to make sure I've got a good, varied diet that puts me in a deficit. I'll keep tracking even when I've cheated.

Scales moving is good walkintofit, keep it going, I need to get to the gym and jump on so I can get it going in the same direction.

I was reading about quiet time and reflection in the Morning, I have a good routine of doing this now, I'm driving to work at the moment which is more peaceful and I enjoy the small amount of time I get in the office before chaos.

Except when I was younger, knocking around the army reserves and cadets, I never really managed to wake up anything other than just before I need to leave. Never rushed, never late but always out of bed at the last moment for whatever the timings are.

Maybe I can nudge it back half an hour, keep investing in driving to work, enjoy a good coffee and actually make the most of that half hour in the office, quiet, do a bit more reading and reflection.
