LOL I hope the quality time and budget was fun! (Smart wife - I need to do that, those subscriptions do slip the mind, don't they?)

oooo, exciting on the Executive Coaching. You'd be super at it. Like, really super!

And yes, Hogwarts Challenge is here on MyFitnessPal. I'm sure you could still join, if you apply today. Well, I *think* you could still join. I bet you could. 306.2. officially the least i've weighed in nearly 20 years. In 2018 Jan i was at 306.8 before I stopped logging and was 345 in march. Not happening his time. I got stuff to do and places to go this year. Also minus 80 weighed lbs.

Thanks for linking me to that thread mkksemail, I'll keep an eye out for the next term, looks like fun.

Well done on that loss trixterjl31, amazing, keep that momentum going.

I hit the gym yesterday, feeling it today but it was worth it. I did jump on the body measurement thingy, so I know my 2025 starting point, just shy of 18st. It should come down quick, my immediate target is 17.

I really should be tracking and keep adding it as a goal, so I'll start this Morning. I'm hoping to keep an eye on my macros too, although I'll need premium for that next week.

Got a new scales, food and weight. It gives lots more information. tracking food and weight, looks like i over eat 3 days a week, calorie deficit the rest of the week doesn't offset the 3 days. more knowledge is power

@walkintofit - knowledge is power. Tracking and measuring has helped me realize where diet falls short and then I research how to address. It was part of my reason to experience a dry January as I was consuming quite a few calories through alcohol because I had never given it much thought. Old habits die the hardest!

@mikeyrowlands - have read quite a bit of your journey and I do appreciate the quotes you have provided from the Stoics. The one that struck me most was...

"Be ruthless with things that don't matter." - Seneca

Need to post that over my rower and fridge as I continue this journey...

Knowing those calories Walkintofit will definately help. Its surprising how high some things actually are in calories.

I added my dinner yesterday, stayed within the calorie range and just needed more vegetables really.

Same again today, just tracking and making better choices. Porridge breakfast and a banana. Not quite hungry for lunch yet so might snack shortly and then go through to dinner.

Question is for today, what excersise will I do, gym is an option but is likely to be rammed. I've worked from home, so maybe a long walk after dinner.

I do love that quote tobinross, it has so many elements. What are the things that 'do' matter?

    Health, Happiness, Human Relationships, Fulfilment.

The rocks, gravel and sand in a tub analogy is great for this one. The rocks being your big priority, your number 1 focus. The gravel being other people's priorities and the sand being 'everything else'

If you fill the tub with sand, you will get some gravel in too and maybe one of your rocks.

If you put the gravel in first and then the sand, you get the same result.

If you first put the bigger priority rocks in the tub first, you know you've got them sorted. Then you can put some of the gravel in around your rocks and finally the sand will fill the remaining gaps.

I think it was Stephen Covey, I'll see if I can find a video/short.

Tracking well so far this week, meals added and within calories.

I was sat relaxing after dinner yesterday amd decided to try something different, at circa 7pm I put my shorts on and picked up a hand towel and went to the gym. No need for the lockers etc which tends to get busy.

Did a good 20 mins on a bike, stretched my ankles out and half an hour of free weights. This might work for me twice a week.

I can do a bigger session Sat Morning, I like the sauna and steam, the gym cafe also makes a nice poached eggs and avocado salad, its a nice way to decompress and reflect, so I'm going to aim at that for the rest of this week

Been in touch with a brain charity that help people with lots of different issues. I'm going to speak to them about this coaching and also what else I might be able to do with them.

Thats great Mikey getting in the workout/weights. Tracking is on point also
I found I do good during the week, its my weekends that are getting me off the rails. Overeating junk, drinking sometimes. Time to fix that, add more veggies, going to look into a food service or get back on board of cooking. Cooking for 1 is depressing at best.

Exciting, mikey! The brain charity AND the just-get-dressed-and-go-no-fuss gym routine!

walkin, are you a foodie type person? or do you not mind what you eat, as long as it tastes ok type of person? I'm more the latter, and soooooo I *love* leftovers! Sure, I'm cooking for 2 and not 1, so I do understand the depressing component ... except, sometimes I am just cooking for 1. Hubby gets tired of my 'uninspired-just-get-veggies-in-but-hide-them' type of meals ;-). Or even, he likes a meal but doesn't love it as leftovers. Or, too, he liked a meal just fine the first dozen times it was presented, but he's a bit tired of it at this point ;-). So, I do end up cooking for 1. Because he's fine making something alternate for himself, that's usually got a ton of butter or cheese and beef and nary a veggie or drop of olive oil in it ;-), and I'm fine having another variation of 'brown food' (lol they often end up brown, with roasted veggies, or brown rice, or black or butter beans, or all of them, and hubby calls them 'brown food') again :).

So, you know, if you're more like me than like him, it doesn't matter 'how many' you're cooking for, b/c except for the one you eat on the day it's prepared, they all go in the fridge or freezer, packed up in single servings :).

Just back from a spa getaway with hubby (we planned several mini-Maine-getaways for this yr, as our 35th wedding anniversary celebration), and I'm buzzing with good vibes and positive energy. The lady at the deli counter, where I was picking up sliced sharp cheddar and sliced aged provolone last night even noticed it! lol she said I love your energy, come and visit me again! heh

The home cooking is great walkintofit, as mkksemail says, enjoy the process of actually cooking, I don't do as much of it as I should.

You could try exploring a come dine with me type experience, a friend of mine was trying to launch an app but I believe they have them all over, you organise a dinner evening with 3 or 4 other people at one of the homes and rotate over the course of time, so different people get a chance to host.

It might be a good way to share your cooking?

Gym night again tonight, hopefully get home, light dinner and get there for 7pm ish. See how I get on.

Short Simon Sinek clip was talking this Morning about only seeing the challenge or negative for a situation, rather than what you actually want.

The anecdote was him and a friend after an short run had the chance for a free bagel but there was a queue. Simons friend didn't want to bother because of the queue. Simon decided to wander up, squeeze in and grab a bagle for each of them.

Sometimes you have to be in the uncomfortable to get what you want.

    Yummmm, trix !!!

Love that anecdote, mikey! So inspirational. Hope you enjoyed your gym workout, gettin' it done, yes ! I got a 2h 20m snow clearing workout done yesterday - no gym required ;-)

Those carrots sound good trixsterjl31, keep going to nudge those numbers down a bit more. And that snow workout mkksemail, we are lucky we've avoided any more snow in UK.

Got to jump on the scales tomorrow myself, let's see what my progress looks like.

I almost bailed on the gym but was chatting with a friend during the day, its about consistency, so I got my stuff ready and went and worked out my shoulders.

I've got a plan for gym breakfast tomorrow, instead of the poached eggs and avocado breakfast I look forward to, I'm going to try prepping a boiled egg and avocado wrap with some salad instead. I'll still grab a coffee as its good downtime.

sometimes I get on a cooking streak and I will eat left overs. I box up the rest and put it in the freezer for another day. Did drop .6 lbs this week for the win! Drinking on my weekend and eating junk wrecks things. I bought a new scale and a food scale instead of eyeballing the amt of food.
I know I have times of depression. I miss my hubby terribly. No getting past that. I have had some grief therapy/support. some days are ok
My new thought about that is he got to spend the rest of his life with me.

Congratulations on the wins, both of you! 💪

Happy Friday, crew! I have a quiet couple days planned. I have some digital organizing to do, a couple new (refurb) computers (HP laptop, MacBook Air) to get updated and set up, and some Amazon boxes to open, sort, and put away. I have some body weight exercises to finish for my Hogwarts challenge by Sunday (25 squats/day x 3 days, and forward arm circles. Some other stuff too, making a homecooked meal, a few other things. Shouldn't wait til the end of the week for this stuff, ey? ;-) ).

    Let's get 'er done! 📣

Ohhhh, mikey!, I've been shopping journals and journal covers and planners and things this month. I finally know what Field Notes mean! I thought it was an inspirational book you were using, but instead, you were filling it with inspiration! love it. What sort of cover to you use? or do you just go minimalist, and use only the notebook?

Oh, and PS ! In the spirit of the enriching yourself and continuing to learn theme of this thread, ...

I signed up for a computer class at the local college. It's just a 1 credit class on Excel. I'm pretty familiar with Google Sheets and Lotus 1-2-3 from back in the day, but I'm largely self-taught, and I feel like I have gaps, so I wanted to update and refresh my computer skills. It's a half semester Excel class, and a half semester PowerPoint class to follow. There's a 3 credit applied spreadsheets Excel class, too, that I plan to take in the summer semester. Technically, there were no pre-req's to sign up for that, but I felt like it would be smarter to take the other two 1-credits, first. And a Google Suites overview class through the local Adult Ed program starting in mid-Feb, too. I'm feel fairly certain that one won't be as useful as the other two, but again, entirely self taught, so there could be gaps, so I signed up for it. Or, actually, I didn't sign up for that one yet, but I plan to :). Taking the opportunity to close the gaps (assuming I have some, I'm sure I do)! So, I have to log on to my Excel class this weekend, and do that work, too :). Basically, digital weekend on deck, here. With bodyweight exercises, some cooking, and some reading thrown in :).

Hubby is taking the classes with me =). I told him I signed up (before we left for spa weekend), and asked him if he wanted to take the classes with me. He did, so ... cool 😎. That's why the computer arrived - he mostly uses his iPad mini and his phone, but he'll need a bigger screen for doing the homework. The desktop, while functional, is kind of ancient, and hasn't been used in like ... a long time. So I ordered a second laptop. This way we'll not have to take turns doing our homework 🤗. Pretty sure hubby's job will pay for his tuition, too, so that's neat. We'll see. He emailed his boss about it on Saturday, before we left. Haven't heard back yet.
