Finishing a great week. Down 1kg, 4 more to go. One thing that I've started to do is to weigh things like rice and pasta, just realized that I was eating about 4 times the recommended portion :s Hope everybody has a nice start to the week.

I would think rice is more of a measure thing. 1 cup is 200 calories (cooked). I normally cal it 2 cups any time I eat rice. That is how much is in the 1 pint Chinese food container. I figure out that for reg rice you cook a cup you get 2. For sticky rice i cook a cup i get like 3. I'm not sure what that is about.

Greaterthanlife 'the work of the mind' I think is just an interpretation that we should be putting our mind to work on the goals or things we actually want to work on, rather than distractions.

Weird anecdote, many years ago I lived on the Isle of Man, there is a small island (calf the Calf of Man) a lovely little spot and you can see it as you drive down a long access road. I'd always thought 'I should bring the tripod at sunset and get a photo'. I put it off for years and one evening, I decided to get myself together and get over there, it was a half hour drive but I made it just before sunset.

I tried my tripod in a few places and had to keep moving around to avoid traffic.

I took tonnes of HDR photos and then spent a couple of days/hours editing.

To this day, its one of my favourite photos, firstly because it was exactly as I'd imagined and secondly because it was born of me making the time and effort to do the thing.

I'll try and find it and link it shortly.

Love all the posts and momentum, well done all, I'm sat in the hotel lobby nursing a coffee. I think my habit this week now is more positive self talk, I do too much complaining to myself. If I think about the anecdote above, choosing action will make great things happen.

The waitress who brought my porridge just asked if I was having a cooked breakfast too, typical Northen Ireland, no thanks, I've got a bowl of fruit and yogurt.

Have a great day all, I'll see if I can find and post that picture.

'Do the things you need to do, to achieve the things you want to achieve'

Darn, I'm sure it was a great photo, try again Mikey. sometimes it takes a while to load pictures on mfp.
I am logging my food everyday even if its tedious. I need a break through and the only way to do that is log every bite.

It's been a couple of weird days, one of my wisdom teeth got removed so I wasn't able to do any sport and gain a lot of weight, about 2kg which is weird because I only been eating soup and water. :|

309.8. Mild milestone first time. Exactly 7 years ago I was at 308.4. The next day i drop to 306.2. That is the lowest I ever tracked on MFP. So in the next week or so i'll be tracking new lows for the last 7 years. I'm pretty sure it was about 18 years ago that I dropped to around 270. So i'm getting close to being my lightest weight since my 30's.

Hi everyone! Checking in before the start of the weekend, had a couple of rough days because of the extraction of 2 wisdom teeth, only eating soup and juice. I've realized that I can live without eating chicken and rice :D Congrats @trixsterjl31 and @Greaterthanlife! Keep going!

I will jump into this also! I just started logging today. Everything is set for tomorrow. Today was grocery stuff.

    Beginning weight: 274
    Current Wight: 220
Next goal: 200 in 16 weeks

Need to get to working out. It'll be good. Will help me in clearing my head. Might end up playing chess better.

It's good to hear that there are others on this thread. Have a good one!

    Mike,

I hope you are well, staying motivated.... (You ARE a motivator of others; but TREAT yourself right! Be good to yourself and remember loving yourself is just as important (or maybe even more) as loving anyone else!

Hey all, been off the wagon a bit, last week's travel nackered me out.

Had bloods done yesterday, only regular checkup stuff, thyroid, blood sugar, cholesterol etc. I'm sure I'm getting a telling off next week.

Watched a really interesting video yesterday, nothing new and mind blowing, but a reminder to turn off or tone down social media and do something interesting instead. That's what I'm gonna try over the next few days. No short form media, no doomscrolling, tried just sitting and writing Morning pages on the bus instead of scrolling my phone and it was liberating.

Will track my food today, porridge and some fruit, chicken sandwich for lunch, not sure about dinner yet.

Also - had a conversation with someone a few weeks back before Christmas about an interesting new job, I assumed he went in another direction as I hadn't heard from him. He's asked me for a meeting tomorrow, let's see how that goes, I'm keen to see what he has to share.

Hi Mikey! I'm still here. Not sure why I stopped posting, but I haven't broken my logging streak :). Tho, I did break my steps streak! I'm still getting my steps, but it's more often 70k over the week, instead of 10k/day.

My Prolon FMD fasts (not sure if you remember that) had a beneficial effect on my LDL cholesterol (down almost 30 pts, from Apr to Nov!). I did four of them, from May to Aug, none Sep-Nov, did another at the end of Dec, and am in the middle of my 6th one right now. I'm down almost 25 lbs since I started visiting your thread. Knees aren't any better tho :p.

Good luck with the interesting new job! Rooting for you! And, Happy New Year!

I'm been hanging out in the Hogwarts Challenge, I guess. Do you like Hogwarts? You should join, if yes :). A new 'term' just started on Mon. It goes for 8 weeks :).

    Cheers!
    ~ mk :)

(I can't watch vid now, as hubby is asleep next to me ;-), but I'll come back and watch it.)

Words of inspiration from a flat out amazing story in a Facebook Group.

When faced with a setback you have 2 options:
    1). Give In
    2). Go All-In
We only have 1 short life. Always take option #2

Happy New Year mkksemail, glad to see you back. I'll have a look at those fasts, my boss in work did a series of fasts and it worked.

What is the Hogwarts Challenge, is that on MFP? I love Harry Potter, good memories of reading the first one, knowing it was a children's book but being really drawn in to the world. Maybe I'll add them to a re reading list that I probably won't get to.

I love that advice, I got a call yesterday about my bloods, as expected, high cholesterol. I'm lucky really, I've been generally healthy but age is catching up and my diet has not changed. This is my next wake up call, so I am all in. Reduce cholesterol, get fit and get up the mountains with my nephew.

I randomly stumbled across an ADHD coach qualification yesterday and an alarm bell went off, not sure where it came from but I can use my workplace experience to help people that are struggling. Had the option to work for a business or for myself too I guess. I shared it with my wife and she was really excited.

Last year I had the idea of exploring executive coaching, this is an extension of that and would focus it on people that need help rather than CEOs or board members.

Yesterday, on a few occasions, I sat with my notebook instead of picking my phone up, just wrote thoughts and reflections. It really helped my mood, I did the same this Morning, similar to 'morning pages' just not as rigid.

Anyway, porridge today, brought in a thermos and a banana. I've got beetroot and tomato salad for lunch with mackerel.

Plan will be gym tomorrow and then my wife wants to go through the subscription stuff to see if we can save ££, so we are off for a coffee and some quality time while she goes through the budget 🤣

I'm all in and on it. Have a great day all.
