I think Chicken Fried is the only one of what both you and Lisa listed that I might not know.

This is the article in the Hovarian. It came through the door yesterday evening. Pleased with it.
I sent photos to friends and got some lovely messages back. My old yoga teacher was really sweet. How blessed I am.
Feeling some stomach discomfort this morning. It must be all the painkillers I'm taking.
Hoping to tackle the doctors today, but it might have to be a phone call.

Heather: 🥰 the article. Sorry that you’re having digestive discomfort. Hope you can get over it quickly.
Kim, NC: It’s good to get everything cut and dried like that. I had the same chat with my dad well before he passed, and also my dear MiL. Both were still fully compus mentis right up to their passing.
Grocery shopping completed and stached away. DH has gone to have his bloods done so I’m chilling out with a cup of coffee. It’s a dull wet day with no let up in sight. I see some decluttering in my near future. 😝
Will do some yoga first.

Good morning ladies!
Allie glad you are done with your test.
Machka those lilies are beautiful.
We are supposed to have severe rainstorms today, and we have an appointment with the lawyer. There's no parking and my dad isn't walking well. Also we don't have the paperwork done yet. I want to postpone, but I should have done it yesterday. Oh well, a little rain won't hurt us. And if it keeps people home, there might be street parking.
I'm postponing grocery shopping, but I don't think we are out of anything just yet.
Have a marvelous day ladies! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Today's lesson from the book, The Beck Diet Solution, is the importance of logging. I feel like it's a huge part of data based analysis. For example, if I substituted Greek yogurt for chocolate, I might think that would help me lose weight. But actually the calories in a serving ( as I eat them) are about the same. Maybe the yogurt would be more satisfying, and reduce other eating. Or maybe I would crave the chocolate and increase other eating. How would I know without logging? I need hard data to keep me from convincing myself of excuses. And hard data comes from accurate portion sizes and logging.

It looks like I've got a date of 31st May for my right hip. That would make it touch and go for the October cruise, as the second hip will be done 8 weeks later.
10 weeks recovery might be enough, but I would have to take out extra insurance (12 weeks is standard) and pay the enormous balance for the holiday before the second op, not knowing how it will go. I would have to tell the insurance all this, and they may not take the risk.
I feel bad about disappointing John, but, from my point of view, I'm happy to cancel.
I'm also sad about not being able to babysit for my son and DDIL when they go on their Pyrenean bike trip at the end of May, beginning of June. I hope the other grandparents can do the extra days and my son doesn't have to cut the holiday short. But I feel I have to take the slot while it's on offer.
I've sent the surgeon's letter and the amended physio letter to Saga. Now I wait for their response. I have emailed the doctor.

STRESSED!!!!!
Pick up and delivery guy's dog died yesterday morning. Bucky has had spinal damage for past 7 years. Needless to say, driver called out. This morning he texts me at 6 am saying he is sick. R has been out sick since Monday. He texted this morning and said heading back to ER. Texted backup driver....he is in the Dominican. DH in a foul mood because we went to a store last night that should have been open but was closed most likely due to weather we didn't get. Yes STRESSED!
I reckon when all of your employees are over 60 with no vested interest......one high sugar, heart issues, and diabetic, one has had two strokes, two aneurism, and two neck surgeries and is an alcoholic, one with major back issues, another with heart issues and diabetic. SIL has had two neck surgeries, diverticulitis and diabetic. DH is blind. SH!!, I am the healthiest one here but can't do it all. I just get migraines but manage to work.
Going to try some breathing exercises before I lose it.
Thank you for allowing me to vent!
Love you Ladies!
I am grateful for my health!

Very excited to see SIX tonight! Stevany and I are meeting with my best friend for dinner at a Cuban restaurant before the show. I wish Jordyn (DIL) could join us, but with her work schedule, she just be able to make the show.
I did a 45-minute Yoga for Weight Loss workout last night, so we'll call today a recovery day. I have heatless rollers in my hair until I start to get ready later this afternoon, so no workouts today. Probably won't even get a quick dog walk because a. I look ridiculous with the roller and a bandana on my head and b. crappy weather today in Northeast Florida.
Just an 8-hour workday between now and a fun evening!
Make it a great day!

Janie (sister) told me the cremation was going to be tomorrow, she’ll let me know the time. Janie also told me that she called judy(sister in law) and told her about mom, tony(brother) wasn’t home. She called to invite them to a gathering, potluck/bbq they were going to have for her. Tony and mom have been on the outs since I don’t know when so I doubt that he will be there but the invitation is there. Joey (brother that was staying with her) didn’t want to do any get together so Janie is and told him if he didn’t show up that was fine.
I swear, this is better than a soap opera, you can’t make this $”&t up

Tracey ~ Prayers for your daughter and the grands. Sounds like she really needs help and poor little M is very intuitive. It's a shame that they are having to miss school. Is her husband supportive of your daughter's anxiety problems? Meds are essential when needed so I hope she can get help soon.
Heather ~ Congrats on scheduling your hip surgery.
Kylia ~ So sorry to hear that your employees are missing in action and that you have the burden of all the work needing to be done.
Machka ~ Your colorings are so pretty.
Linda ~ I had to look up SIX! Sounds like you will have a great evening out!

Barbie ... I'm a little late, but thank you for starting the new month.
Heather .. that's a great write-up and you look wonderful! Glad to hear you've got a date for your surgery.
Rita ...I'm so glad you figured out the cause of your anxiety attacks. A lot of the medications prescribed are off-label uses for anxiety/depression... and I don't think that's always a good idea. My son has had significant problems with many of them and also refuses to take anything new for anxiety/depression.
Hugging/Touching ... not a hugger and I am known to back up and put my hand out to signal that you're in my personal space if you get too close. Of course, this doesn't apply to my immediate family. Hair touching ... nope on that too.
We had a nice Easter although it was tiring. Transferring my mom in and out of our Ford Explorer was a challenge. I figure we did this 8 times by the time we got her from her facility, went to church, then to our home and finally, back to the facility. My husband, with his bad back, essentially just lifted her into the vehicle. Then while she is in our home, she needs to use the bathroom frequently and that involves my help in transferring.
Monday I got a call that she had fallen in the bathroom ... because she refuses to use the call button that I pay an extra $2000 a month for personal assistance with her transfers! Arghh. A combination of sheer stubbornness and dementia. And because they weren't certain if she had hit her head, she needed to go to the ER. The ER on a Monday, after a holiday and on April Fool's Day was chaos! Fortunately, she didn't show any damage and was released back to her facility. But ... to avoid a several hour delay waiting on wheelchair transportation ... my husband and I chose to take her home in our vehicle again!
I took yesterday as a recuperation day. Today, I will visit with my mom and see how she's doing.
The rain and wind came through here last night. My knees are killing me, my son is home with a migraine.
Goals ... I did not achieve my goal of being lighter but will work on that again in April. I have also not been consistent with my healthy eating goals which impacts the being lighter goal. Will get better at that too in April. I have surgery at the end of the month and really want to go into that in a healthier state no matter how small.

(((Kylia))) I wish you could just sell the business and retire. If retirement isn't doable yet find another job less stressful. That is too many who have major health problems for you to make up the difference. It puts your health at risk. Meanwhile do what you can to help your health be the best it can be.
During that very stressful time with my DH having a place I could go to get away for a short break and eating the best anti inflammatory diet I could helped me to get through that time. Saying NO also helped.
I need to revisit that one myself. No! I ended up with GERD from the stress of trying to go out with two friends last week. The first was a miscommunication in the time we were to meet. Friend thought 11:45. I had on my calendar 12:15 to 12:30 and I would drive us to the restaurant. The next day took friend out to lunch who has early dementia. It took a half hour from picking her up to get to the restaurant she picked out because she didn't have good directions. I learned if I take her out again I have to get the directions not her. The traffic was awful in that area which added to the stress and difficulty getting there. That night I had a sore throat from GERD that turned into being hoarse for two days. (Monday and Tuesday) I am more or less recovered now but will skip the choir tonight. I want to give my voice more of a chance to recover.
I learned GERD can happen when eating too fast, not chewing food well enough, eating under stress like I did on Friday. You can strengthen the valve that keeps the stomach acid in your stomach by lying on your back and lifting your head for the count of ten. Sleeping on your left side and head elevated so the upper body is higher. I also have been sipping 2 ounces of aloe in the morning and skipped coffee for two days. Not overeating also helps. I know not to take an antacid. The problem is not too much stomach acid the problem lies in the valve not closing to keep the acid from going up into your windpipe and affecting your voice box. I also know Nexum is not the answer because of too many side effects. Keeping your weight down also helps.

Dermatology yesterday went ok. He freeze sprayed two spots, one one back other on side of neck. Then he marked two for biopsy. Those are on my calf and toe. Not getting that done until they submit the request to insurance, plus appointment isn't until June.
I sent off a 3 lb box filled with homemade brownies to eldest son. Then a small box to a pen pal filled with accumulated greeting cards I've collected over the years. I still have a pile I've kept, but they can multiply.
Kitchen is still in the same state like the photos I posted. Nothing has been done as of yet. Its getting to be annoying to grab food from the other room where the fridge is living. I now realize how many chilled items we use to make our meals. I guess that's a good thing huh?
No phone call from youngest this week. Its been only 2 weeks so I should not be complaining. I miss his mug though.
Today is gray and misty on the island, so it will be soup making day. Thinking of making a sausage, pasta, beans, and shrimp sort of gumbo. I will take a photo.
Healing Hugs to all that are hurting.

Barbie - I love the idea of a 911 playlist. I may have to make one of those.
Heather - I just love the article, it really tells who you are. Of course, the picture with your beautiful smile is just lovely.
I think that cancelling the October cruise would be my decision as well. Getting the hips dealt with will make future cruises more enjoyable.
Machka - I thought those lilies were painted, incredible colouring skills!
Kylia - Hugs to you. I hope DH's mood improves greatly. Are the powers that be interested in hiring anymore staff?
Carol - Thank you, my daughter's husband is wonderful. I feel bad for him though as he shoulders a lot of responsibility all on his own. I didn't get the chance to speak to her privately yesterday as I hoped, so will try the next time I have a chance. That may be a couple of weeks though as my BF comes tomorrow and the next time I see my daughter will be a gathering. I assume the kids are in school today, I took my vehicle in for her to use this week as my SIL's is broke down, that way she didn't have that as a reason not to take them.
Beth - Did I read that correctly? You have to pay an EXTRA $2000 a month for a call button! Here call buttons are part of the deal to begin with. I hope that you Mom starts using it, falls are so bad for elderly people.
I think you deserve a couple of recuperating days.
Rebecca - Has the management company at least been staying in contact for the repairs to the kitchen? If not, they should be giving you a discount on rent or something to compensate for the issue.
Allie - great pictures of Miles.
I need to go practice some ASL for my presentation on Friday and I also need to study for a quiz tomorrow. My BF's flight has changed, she should be here tomorrow at 413pm providing all is well with the storm they are supposed to get. She thought they changed her flight to Friday, but it's tomorrow. Very strange.

Barbie - Love that idea of a 911 playlist, as well.
Tracey - Sounds like you're dealing with the frustrating issues in ways that makes sense.
Allie - Glad the tests were good, hope the biopsies are clear, as well. At least it's over, now...
Rebecca -Hope your results are good, too. Not surprised nothing further's been done on the kitchen, but I know it's frustrating.
Kylia - I so want to provide suggestions, but I genuinely have none (and I know you're not looking for them, you just vent as much as you need. A job in a family concern is not one where walking away is an option, and that presents a rock and a hard place, I'm afraid.
Heather - So pleased you have a date for the first hip! You'll get through with flying colors, I'm sure, and the cessation of pain is unbelievably relieving. We learn to live with it, and when it's gone, it creates a lightness of spirit. Loved the article, hope it's a real boost to the sales for NOW I AM.
Beth - Glad your mom's OK, but agree with Tracey that you need a recuperation day! Hope the surgery goes well at end of month.
Speaking of more medical-lollapalooza, my tests were perfect, no clots in sight, follow up on May 7 to decide on the Watchman procedure. Four-and-a-half-hour wait, all wired up to everything before the doctor showed up for a ten-minute procedure *sigh*. Hospitals are overbooked at insane levels now - I was there at 6 am and finally left at 11:30. I had coffee waiting for me in the car, and my husband cooked lunch for me the minute I got home. Bless him, five and a half hours in a waiting room isn't anyone's idea of fun.
And, on we go. Starting to feel vaguely human with a little food in me. I did OK until it was all over, and then just fell apart a little. Got it back together by the time I got back to the car. Kinda thought I wouldn't do that any more once I got over 60, but I sprung a leak anyway. Ah well.
Love y'all,
Later,

No work today so I got to exercise! Did the stairmaster and then took the water aerobics class. Then went to Aldi then to Ollies to see if they had the chlorinating solution for the pool which they didn’t so I’ll probably get it Sun. when I go to WalMart.
Ladies: need ideas. PJ will be graduating preschool in May and I’m looking for ideas for a gift for him.
Weather was fantastic yesterday. We even got the cover to the spa off and cleaned. Then there was a problem with a hose from the power washer to the wand and water kept squirting out. So I went to Lowe’s Hardware and got a new one. By the time I got back and Vince got it put on, it was too late to get the covers off the pool (boo). What I wouldn’t do for one more (just one) day like yesterday. Sunny (so the covers would dry) and not breezy. Also washed and waxed my car on Mon.
Allie – when I got to the end of that stuff, I would have to hold my nose just to get it down. Pictures of Smiles always Make me grin
Get this: at the gym today I put my water bottle on the stairstepper then went to the bathroom. When I got back, someone else was on the stairstepper! Fortunately, the one next to it was unoccupied so I just moved over. But what if it had been occupied? Didn’t my water bottle there give her a clue that someone was using it?
Anna – I’m so sorry your cat had “hunger pains”
Speaking of hair: I’m supposed to get mine cut tomorrow. Seems the cosmetology school now has this thing where you can either leave a message or send them an email. What a pain! I left a message Tues and she called me back, but when she did I was outside working so I didn’t get the message until later. I would just rather (like before) talk to the person and get the appt made that day.
Lanette – I would love to play pickleball, but unfortunately the times never seem to work for me. There’s one gal at the condo who organizes games, but they’re always at 9:30 and I’m usually at the gym then shopping. I tried it once, didn’t do too well. Jess was watching the chickens at her boss’ house and she gave me some of the eggs
Picked up Loki’s ashes yesterday. I remember when we had to have Bonnie cremated, vince couldn’t bear to go pick up the ashes so I just went myself and got Loki
Linda – Jess has been working with a few rescues. See, it has to be a certain kind of rescue because these were dogs that were used for teaching. When Jess signed to get her dog, she also signed that she wouldn’t give it to a SPCA. However, one rescue did find someone who is looking for a dog with theirs. Jess was totally honest about Eva’s shortcomings (the anxiety which is getting worse) and the lady still is interested. They’re supposed to go there this weened and as long as Eva gets along with their dog (which I can’t see not happening) she’s going to take the dog. If for some reason she doesn’t, Jess has determined to have Eva put down. She is miserable and making Ganon miserable too along with Jess and Colby. This lady, while she doesn’t live on a farm, lives sort-of out in the country which is the type of place Eva was at before going to the school
Barbara – just to be clear I WAS NOT on drugs when I chose the colors for the praying mantis….lol
Heather – great article! I’m so glad you got a date for your hip
Annie – lately I’ve found that eating a fair amount of protein keeps me full
Beth – so sorry about your mother
Lisa – yea for good tests but boo for the waiting
Off to vacuum out my car

Tracey ... yes, I pay an extra $2000 for "premium enhanced care" ... the facility's highest level of care ... which allows for my mom to receive one-to-one assistance in her care ... especially in transfers. The call button is a wrist-watch type of device that is part of that care. Not all the residents in the facility have one. When I visited today, she told me she was "not allowed to use the bathroom on her own." I've been trying to get her to understand this for months ... she is to use her button and call for assistance. Whether she'll remember and comply with that tomorrow is another story. She claims they are slow in responding, but I've timed them and sometimes they're in her room within 3 minutes. They're not to be more than 10 minutes. I think that's pretty good. But for someone who no longer understands time??
