I run fasted for my runs.
I chew gum Orbit bubble mint, 2 pieces every 8ish miles

I carry Black Forest gummies, or Haribo gummies, if I need something else. GU used to make a gummy that was compact as well as Gatorade chews. Both stopped making them, so any gummy will do for me.
Because my nutrition stays 'spot on', I really don't need much. I make sure I fuel appropriately each day. Not to say I do not go off rails every so often.
I admit I snorted my Pepsi when I read that.
6/1 13.24 miles Crazy Laps! Rain and Mom confused
6/2 13.46 miles County Line and back
6/3 13.34 miles
6/4 13.63 miles, Running Partner A last half!
6/5 13.48 miles, rain caught me @11.36 miles7 -
I added a couple of kilometres to my usual 8km loop (very cleverly making sure they were flat instead of the usual hill madness that is my local). Feeling good today - the after effects of a couple of days of intensive gardening have worn off (my garden is finally all weeded and mulched and ready to snooze over winter, not that it really does here - I still have roses in bloom and the dahlias that the frost blackened off a couple of weeks back have all sprouted again!) and the sun came out for a bit, which always makes me feel better.7

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"06 pace). Day 36
A second good run in my new kicks...still working well. 90% of my state is planning to get HOT, but not my corner of the state. Soon enough we'll get it too. Be well everyone.8 -
03/06 3.67 miles
06/06 4.33 miles
Total 8/50 miles
The weather is really cold and windy, raining one minute & sunny the next so I’ve been on my bike mostly but had a good run this morning. My toes went numb with the cold for the 1st mile.
Here’s a photo of my old runners with 503 miles and my new ones. Brooks Adrenalines. The old ones don’t look too bad on the outside but fallen flat at the heal & ball of foot.5 -
Hi everyone!
I am glad to hear that most of you seem off to a very good and active June! I have been active as well, just not so much with the posting.
On the 1st we went to a wedding, which was wonderful but I had to spend the 2nd recovering from said wedding. I don’t know how @tarun_yadavA does it. I couldn’t get myself out the door .
But then things got better running wise.
3.6. 7.7km treadmill
4.6. 16.2.km long run
5.6. 10.1km easy run with a 15sec fartlek every km
6.6. 7.1km easy run - I would have done more but kids all had a dentist appointment, so I was glad to squeeze it in.
I started a new training plan. So far, it’s having me shake up my routine more which has added motivation. I’m excited to see if I can handle the harder runs since I train on my own. I’m also supposed to run slower on my easy runs, so there is a plus side. Tomorrow I am doing a bunch of hill repeats and have nominated a steep one for the fun .
I enjoyed reading about all of your running plans and adventures thus far in June!
45.5km/200km for June.

Ugh! A few hours ago I tripped over a large canvas bag full of books as I was turning and twisted my left knee. Felt ok enough at the time. Iced it a bit, but didn’t know where to ice because there were no signs of where to ice. Now it’s starting to swell…. Icing/elevating and ibuprofen for now. Was supposed to run this afternoon, but not going to happen. Waiting to see if it’s minor (which I’m hoping for).8
-
Oh no @daria0919, hopefully it’s little more than a bruise.
I’m feeling like I’m on track again with my running after my second great run in a row. My back, which has been aching following gardening overuse in April has finally stopped hurting. It never bothered me running but I’d wake very stiff and sore every morning and it clearly impacted my gait/pace. In that time, my VO2 max (according to Garmin) dropped from 55 to 47 (which was horrifying) but has started to go back up, giving me 49 today. I imagine there’ll be a lot more work required to get it where it was, let alone my all time high of 58 back in 2021 when I was a my peak (there was a lot of running back then, complete with drills, and speed work, and ‘easy’ two-hour runs).6 -
@ContraryMaryMary wow VO2 of 54 is impressive. At 49 you’re still ahead of me. Mine stuck at 45 for a few months now4

My new shoes and photo from morning run in the spoilerI recently got one pair of Hoka Mach 6 and one pair of Brooks Glycerin 21, to replace a more cushioned pair of new balance I wore when I was heavier. I wear a women’s size 12) men’s are too wide) and they only had the Hokas in at fleet feet. I used to run in Glycerin shoes and ordered the pair online. I use superfeet insoles for high arches. Both pairs are nice and the jury is out. One may move to the gym for treadmill runs.8 -
@chris_in_cal I've never heard of any of those bands, but their names are interesting. Enjoy! Glad the shoes felt good again.
I'm glad you had such a nice run @martaindale .
@Teresa502 Great running and planning that trip sounds trying, but I'm sure you will all enjoy it once you get there. It sounds like fun. Good job sticking it out today when you were struggling.
Great running and gardening @ContraryMaryMary . I'm with you in adding flat miles instead of hilly ones. I'm glad you are getting back on track with your running.
Glad you got out for a run @mari333a . Those soles don't look too bad. Love the new shoes.
Nice running @Laurz9191 . Sounds like you're enjoying your training plan.
Oh no @daria0919 . I hope rest and ice is all it needs and it feels better soon.
Great running @henridw2095 . Love the shoe porn. I hope they work out for you.

13.00/80.0 mile goal
I didn't post yesterday. I did go to the gym and then did a treadmill wun. Afterwards, mom and I started trimming more trees along the driveway. My first order of business was to fall into the bed of the Gator and hurt three of my fingers. One of them went into a small hole on the side of the bed that is used for hooking tie downs. I'm lucky they didn't break...or at least I don't think they did. We went ahead and did one load of limbs, once my hand calmed down a bit. A storm was pending, so we quit.
This morning, one of my fingers is back to normal, but the other two are really swollen. They don't hurt. It just makes it hard to grip and make a fist. Because of that, when I went to the gym today, I did legs and core only. It was a pretty hard workout. So, when I got home, I just walked 2 miles on the treadmill to keep from overdoing the legs.
I have iced my hand some and will do so again in a bit. They feel better than they did, so hoping for improvement again tomorrow. It could have been so much worse than it was.7 -
June Goal: 215 Miles
6/2: 11.02 miles
6/3: 3.15 miles
6/4: 6.26 miles
6/5: 1.10 miles
6/6: 6.27 miles
27.8/125 miles completed for June
I almost missed Global Running Day. I decided to take today as my rest day. I needed to go by and have some blood work done and didn't want to run before having my coffee so I just did yoga this morning. Then this evening I was looking at Facebook and realized it was Global Running Day. So even though I was about to start getting ready for bed I got out and ran 1 mile. It wasn't a bad run, just short. It was hot and it was dark. I do prefer running in the morning. "Dusk" dark feels different to me than "pre-dawn" dark.
I guess I never posted this yesterday. I guess I will add today's post here:
I had a great run this morning. It was 72°F, dew point 64° and 74% humidity and 7 mph winds. It was so much more pleasant than the last few days. I ran 6.25 miles and felt like I could run forever.
@daria0919 I hope the knee isn't serious.
@quilteryoyo I hope your fingers heal quickly.
@henridw2095 Nice shoes!
@chris_in_cal Sounds like a fun music festival.

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"57 pace). Day 37
I am wanting to try and get some longer run in while I'm traveling this weekend. It nearly never happens, but we'll see.

@Teresa502 haha. No never been on a group chat with 5 other women! Lol @ clothes and outfits.
Sounds like a blast though!!

@chris_in_cal weekend festival sounds cool. Enjoy!!! 🍺6 -
Good morning everyone!
12km today for my hill repeat run. I did 10 75sec. repeats. It went well even though it was hard. The weather was perfect for running. Also, the slug count has gone down, so I don’t have to watch my step quite as much.
As for the fuelling question. I usually only fuel my long runs with water and either a Maurten or Gu gel for anything 10miles/16km or longer. If the weather were to be hotter I probably would take water on anything over 10k, just so the run would be more comfortable and I wouldn’t be as dehydrated after.
53.1km/200km for June.6 -
