No A tonight. Still tired.5 -
@Michieb125 thank you. I am trying to focus on the positive - for quite some time I was drinking every night, so even a few days off here and there is a good thing for me. And the more, the better.
@MissMay very interesting piece, I can definitely relate to it.7 -
I find it amazing that when I check in with this group, I am more able to keep my drinking down a bit. Without checking in I find myself reaching for that extra glass of wine at night. You are all such an inspiration, and so encouraging, and so loving when any of us go over our limits. I can never thank you all enough.
Last weekend DH and me celebrated our 27th anniversary! We ordered a cocktail, and the restaurant gave us each a glass of champagne. Had we known, we would not have ordered our cocktails. Drank both, and then a big glass of wine. Then cognac when I got home. That’s 4 drinks folks, and of course I felt like hell the next day.
This week has been two drinks per night, want to get back down to one. And then from there, half a glass, then eventually zero. It’s a process.10 -
I slept real good last night, but I’m still tired. I was so tired yesterday, I didn’t go for my walk. I won’t make it into the 180s doing that!🙁
I forgot to give myself my b12 injection on Saturday, so I’m wondering if that’s the issue. Will administer it after I finish my lunch. Hopefully, in a day or two, I’ll have renewed energy. If not, then I’m going to go to the doctor. He took me off my iron supplement last appointment, but I’m thinking he shouldn’t have.4 -
@Womona - congratulations on 27 years of marriage! Sounds like you did celebrate big! Well, there are certainly times in our lives when it seems warranted and we do just that! And, I like your plan to make small changes over time. I have heard that is the best way to tackle a food/drink habit we want to change-little by little wins the race.
@NonnieDoiron I wonder if being tired is part of transitioning into your new job and the mental energy you’ve had to give to your MIL. For me, it helps to consider all the why’s and find it usually temporary and we just need to rest. I take B12 supplements each day but the shot sounds interesting.
Same goal today - to keep within calories limits and maintain serving sizes on all food/drink.
Doing okay and feeling less bloated after all the recent travel. Want to keep that goodness going!
Planning no A for tonight as I also scheduled a Pilates class for early tomorrow morning.4 -
Having a busy week with my mom in town, drank a bottle of wine with her on Sunday evening , and had 3 drinks last Saturday night after my beach walk .
Stayed AF during the week so far. Every AF free day counts!

@Michieb125 you could be right. There’s a lot going on in my world. I had been on iron for years though. After my son’s cancer treatment 10 years ago, I was diagnosed anemic and almost made to go to the hospital because my doctor was scared I wouldn’t recover with just continuing my iron supplement more regularly. ( I had stopped taking all my vitamins/medicines during that time because I was overwhelmed with his care.) It took several months to get back to normal, but it worked.
B12 shots are great. I had a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in 2004, but the supplements weren’t working to keep my B12 up. So, the doctor prescribed monthly injections. I can definitely tell when I’ve forgotten my shot though. lol

Making my mom’s birthday cake tonight, so no drinking. I will probably have a glass of wine tomorrow at dinner with my mom as we celebrate. But, I may go without depends on how tired I am.3 -

AF on Wed, yesterday and today wine/champagne.

@Womona Congrats of 27 years! I agree with @Michieb125 that the small "baby steps" are sometimes the best way to tackle a habit you want to change.
@NonnieDoiron has your B12 shot helped with the tiredness? And Happy Birthday to your Mom.
I'm signed up for a 5% challenge here on MFP (I've been doing them on and off for years) and I decided that giving up the wine is going to be my biggest commitment for the 8 weeks. For the most part I eat pretty healthy meals, and not too much snacking, but every day that I drink my calories are way over my range for those days. Sooo, the challenge starts tomorrow and tonight I'm having my last A drinks for 8 weeks!!!

Changed my mind and chose a A day. 1 glass of wine. Won’t be able to drink tomorrow because I will have to drive the 2 hrs home in the rain after celebrating mom’s birthday.
@SparkSpringtime69 I just did the shot yesterday around 1pm. It’s now 9pm, and I’m feel like it’s starting to kick in a little. I didn’t walk today because I still felt tired, but I will probably walk in the morning before we head to my mom’s. So, feeling a bit more energetic.3 -
Last evening while at home and no plans to go out I decided on my own to have some prosecco. A few stemmed glasses while watching our favorite shows on TV was the perfect setting to enjoy this dryer tasting prosecco.
This bottle had been purchased by hubby last Dec 7 2023. It has been in our frig on the top shelf for over 7 months.
34 days AF was a nice cleanse. Last night was a good choice too. Back to DAY ONE of no alcohol.
@Womona belated anniversary wishes - congrats. 27 strong!
@AF_Brat
is the AF in your profile for alcohol free or air force? I hear a lot of AF in my area being so close to military bases in Florida.5 -

I had 1 drink with dinner Thursday, feeling good about having just the one!
Last night I went a bit overboard with friends over, but today is a new day. Gonna veg with a movie and tea.
@MissMay the AF is for Air Force - My dad served for over 20 years, and I've lived in the UK, Alabama, Louisiana (living on Barksdale AF Base was so cool), and Virginia (DC suburbs while he worked at the pentagon). It wasn't a typical childhood, but I have great memories and since Facebook I've been able to reconnect with old friends!5 -
@SparkSpringtime69 your challenge sounds amazing and I can relate to your comments about wine calories big time! You will have to keep us posted on progress 😊
Current:
AF days - 8
A days - 114 -
@NonnieDoiron glad to year the B12 is kicking in. Ugh, 2 hours is a long time to drive in rain. I hope it holds off for your trip. Have a great time with your Mom.
@MissMay I love a good dry prosecco; it's great you can enjoy such a nice gift and then jump right back into AF mode.
@AF_Brat I thought the AF was alcohol free too, never thought about the Air Force . It sounds like you had a fun childhood, although I imagine having to change schools wasn't always fun.
I'm having the same plan as you tonight, tv and a nice herbal tea.4 -

Really overdid the calories yesterday celebrating my mom with my brothers. It was a fun get together, and I didn’t drink a drop! Fortunately, God heard my prayers, and I managed to stay ahead of the rain while driving to and from. Overall, a great day yesterday.
Now, to agonize about my weigh-in tomorrow morning.😬5 -

I had a really nice weekend seeing DD and my two young grandchildren on Friday night - had water balloon fights in the backyard (yes I let them bomb me and get my just washed and styled hair wet). Laughed like a kid myself, then ordered good pizza and had make your own sundaes for them. I ate one large piece of pizza and skipped the ice cream and wine.
Had some planned wine last night but didn’t go overboard - 2 mini Prosecco bottles and 1 Chardonnay which I dumped out the last couple of ounces lol. I think my taste for certain brands is changing.
I am no longer a daily drinker of wine since Feb. 2023 thanks to this great group of like minded people and the support and dedication of @MissMay!
Mini goal: log at least 4 more AF days by next Saturday and to see the scale budge a bit.
Current July:
AF days - 8
A days - 12

Checked out a new, much bigger boat on Friday, and had two glasses of wine. Now to convince the husband we can swing it. We can, but he is a lot more conservative than I am, so we shall see.
Meanwhile I blew my goals this weekend. Golfed 9 holes in Saturday, great exercise to walk the course, but had two glasses of wine. Yesterday on the boat I had two High noons, but then two glasses of wine. So that’s four drinks over the course of the day. I have got to get control of these weekends, they are the most difficult for me. Reset starts now.
Meanwhile we gave our dog a big ham bone, and he ate more of it than he should have. Now he has pancreatitis from the salt/fat of the ham, and vomited tons and is super constipated from the bone. He won’t eat but at least he is drinking. Mercifully no bowel perforation. But Lord, do we feel awful for basically breaking our dog!!! We had no idea that dogs really should not have bones!7 -

Hello LA friends - sending positive {{less alcohol vibes}} your way on this sunny, warm summer Monday.
Honestly, I went over my personal limit (and calories) last night with pink bubbles, sigh. Mini goal starts today (4 AF days this week)!
Current July:
AF days - 9
A days - 13

@Womona a new boat sounds wonderful! Glad your doggie will be okay after that ham bone! Scary though…… I usually try canned pumpkin and white rice to help correct tummy troubles with my pup, but I’m sure your vet gave you good advice. Keep us posted on both accounts.

Two AF days in a row. I didn't even think about drinking, but I've been sick for the two days so that may have played a part in it. Fever's gone today, but throat's a little scratchy, and I'm still slightly stuffy. I did just do a covid test a little while ago and am so happy that it was negative (I thought it was just a common cold, but it's nice to have a test confirm it).
@Michieb125 OMG I love water balloon fights (and water guns too). We always had that stuff on hand when we had big BBQs at our old house.
I stopped being a daily drinker since finding this group also, it's a wonderful group!
@Womona sorry to hear about your doggy's woes, glad he's going to be ok. A larger boat sounds awesome (would it fit all of us, )
Looking forward to sharing a bunch of AF (or LA) days with all of my friends here this week!!6 -
Hello, I'm new to this group. My name is Darlene.
Well, I pretty much blew it in July. I plan on quitting in the next couple of days. I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist August 1st to get established there. I have had some liver problems in the past and need to have it checked out.
Good luck to everyone in your goals! AF or LA days.7 -
Thought for the day-
Keep as much fight and enthusiasm for Mondays goals, ALL WEEK LONG.
