    @FindingAmy77 I think you're doing great with your new start, give yourself some credit for doing all that hard work! It sounds like the main thing you've been missing is a plan for maintenance. I also repeatedly fell into that trap of thinking that once the weight is gone, I'm "done" with that particular self-improvement project -- but of course, that is a surefire way to gain back all that weight :#

    I've been a member of another challenge here on MFP that has taught me a new way of thinking about the maintenance phase (also known as "the rest of my life"). I know that this is going to be my last time having to lose this weight, because I'm really changing my lifestyle for good this time -- instead of looking at weight loss as a to-do list item to be checked off and forgotten about.

    I’m just in the process of recovering from a reoccurring back injury and my wedding is Aug 24th! My eating habits have been shockingly bad. Mostly in the evenings. I challenge myself to lose 10lbs by Aug 24th and quit this evening snacking and binging when I’m bored.

    @lindseycotto361 Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding. Yea, that evening snacking is what is holding me back too. Its so difficult because it is not usually hunger for me either, but boredom and habit. I'm trying lots of new things (later dinner, pre-logging my food and snacks etc.). If you find anything that helps I look forward to you sharing it. I will do the same. So...what are the colors you have chosen for your special day?

    07/09-189.0-(Trend Weight: 187.6)- The 4 day holiday weekend really bit me in the behind. Back on track now and actually making progress. Yes, this number was worse (higher) yesterday. I know the weight went on in leaps and bounds and will come off in pathetic little dribbles but at this point I truly appreciate any progress I can make. It feels good to be back on track. I just need to mix the exercise back in. It’s easy to be lazy on that front when you feel as out-of-breath and pudgy as I feel right now. I can actually feel every pound I put on at this point and I’m not real happy about that. I hope I can feel the improvement as I lose it back down.

    07/16-188.8-(Trend Weight: 189.0)- A very small drop after a very good day. I got in extra steps when I lost my cat outside. I didn’t know she was in my attached garage and when I came home and opened the door she got out. She went into the woods and I followed her in difficult terrain but eventually lost her. She is a tortie so she was well camoflauged. She did eventually come back to the yard after about 90 minutes where she continued to run from me but I finally got her near her catio and managed to get her into it so I could lock her in. Maybe I shouldn’t have given her that extra special treat last night after the ordeal. She didn’t really deserve it but I was so happy she came back home even if she strung me along in the yard for awhile. And why does food always have to be a reward? Hmmm.

    I know I’m a bit late to the party, but I figure better late than never!

    Hi I’m Kristen, 40’s, AZ.

    I’ve been on MFP and other apps off and on for many years, but I really struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I get really wrapped up in my work (HS choir director) and convenient choices often win out over healthy choices.

    I was at my highest weight ever (293.8) when I went in for my annual physical this month and my blood pressure and blood sugar were on the high side as well. That lit a fire under me to get my s*** together and get back to a healthy lifestyle! I’ve been focusing on tracking my food, staying within my calorie goal, and eating more protein and less carbs.

    My goal is to be down at least 10 pounds when I go back for my follow up visit on August 19. Ultimately I am hoping to avoid blood pressure and diabetes meds too.

    Starting weight (July 16): 293.8
    7/24: 286.4


    I’m logging my weight daily but I’ll post here on Wednesdays
    I’m also setting some easily attainable activity goals for myself. This week, I want to fix my bike and get in some intentional activity (as in not just my usual daily activities) like a bike ride or going to the gym at least 1 day this week.

    I've been slacking off lately; it's time to make a fresh start! I will resume my weekly weigh-ins and scale app stats beginning Sunday, July 28th (3 weeks before my 66th birthday)!

    I'm hoping to get back down to the 140's by then, but I will be happy to lose at least 5 lbs.

    Checking in early since I reached the 10 lb mark today! My first short term goal was to drop 10 pounds before my follow up with my doctor on 8/19 and since I still have over 3 weeks to go I’m going to aim to be down at least 15 lbs by then. Can I reach 20? Maybe, but I don’t expect to keep up this rate of weight loss going much longer once the water weight is gone. I’m back at school this week so less time for meal prep too. Wish me luck!

    I’ve gotten nowhere in July. Truly a wasted month, or more like a wasted opportunity. August will be better. I’ve got to get a handle on things. Final weigh in tomorrow for the total month accountability. I don’t expect miracles overnight but I’d like to see myself back on the right track.
    @deepwoodslady I also had a bad month. But I don’t think of it as wasted: I’m looking at what happened, and how I can change my response in the future. Because what happened this month can happen again… and the only way I can get a better result next time is if I figure out how to deal with it differently. You keep pretty detailed notes every week, that’s a great opportunity now for a look back and a new & improved plan going forward!

    Wednesday weigh in/check in!

    Good this week: staying within my calorie range; meal prepping, treated myself to a lunch out with my department; met the 15 pound goal (15.8) already for my doctor’s appointment. I’ll aim for 20 since I still have 2 and a half weeks. As long as I keep up with this lifestyle change I’ll be happy!

    Not so good: didn’t fix my bike or do any activity.

    Goals for this week: continue meal prep and bringing lunch and snacks to work. First day with students is tomorrow so I will now have teaching and class prep in the mix too. I was at work past 9 tonight to make sure I’m set for tomorrow, so I can’t let that become a trend…
    My roller derby league starts back up on Sunday so I will get activity in by going to practice!

    August goals:
    Continue meal prep and bringing food to work
    At least 1 activity day per week (mostly derby)
    Loose another 8 pounds for a total of 23.8 pounds lost.
