AAARRGGH!!!!!
I am SO MAD!
While Joe was finishing the side yard clearing up job things I couldn’t do, (move the potted cherry tree, cement blocks and iron rose trellis) he “cut down the little tree.”
“Oh NO! Not the redwood tree?” If he had talked to me first I could have begged him to spare it. It would have been possible to lift the tank up elsewhere over the fence. I had been delighted to discover the sapling when I cleared the salal from that area. In the past two years it had grown into a healthy, lush 3 foot tall tree. Joe is genuinely sorry and I’m sorry to have reacted so badly, but I am literally sick to my stomach with anger, grief and disappointment in myself for making him feel so bad. Hoping BB&B class will disperse these feelings.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Things happen, you know men see things differently than us. To him it was just a manageable little tree. To you it was something you have kept an eye on. You never probably mentioned to him how you have enjoyed seeing it grow. He never mentioned that he was going to handle it. So both communicate better. Hey your outburst let him know you were mad. You didn't b just shut down, or stop talking to him. You processed it perfectly! Be proud , and always say what you mean to your Joe.👍🏼

Hair cut good. For once she didn't cut too much off. We had a nice chat about fancying our various medical personnel and all her continental short trips she has been taking! Wow! So many!
Waitrose delivery. Tonight's dinner is sea bass with spinach in crême fraiche, and a few sautéed potatoes for John. Stewed plums for dessert.
England match tonight. John said he would go in the other room, but I'm going to play nice and leave him in the living room and go upstairs with my tablet to watch something. I'll record the Great British Sewing Bee, because we both like that, surprisingly for John!!!
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx

Stat for the day-
Short outside bike ride- 1hr 45min 30sec, 114elev, 65aw, 13.6amph, 120ahr, 148mhr, 23.86mi= 826c

Was going to go to the gym w/kirby but went to bring bac a tree instead. We bought 2 trees, they refunded us for one but not the other, kirby was pissed. I offered to go instead of him because he would have blown his top off. We were hoping for a refund on both because we turned around and bought almost 1000.00 for two big succulents and pots and pay for planting and delivery. Soooo, I didn’t go to the gym5 -
Shopped today, as tomorrow we both go in for teeth cleaning. Bought a lot of the same things, as they worked well last week. Couldn't resist some sushi from the sushi guy. Don't look at the prices, I didn't.😂😂
The eel is splendid. Ate half of each, and I will have the rest later on.
Have a great day all!

Sorry that happened.
At least Joe was sorry about doing it-
I asked dh why he cut back my dwarf lemon tree-it was finally growing a bit- he just shrugged and said he didn't know- he was cutting the bush next to it and just chopped it. He also used the weed eater on one of my dragon fruit plants- That one there was no excuse for it- The thing is 12 inches off the ground in a pot. He can't say he didn't do it- there are vivid slash marks at the base. Hoping it heals over and doesn't make it too weak when it gets bigger/heavier.

OK, that's it, I'm done for the day...
After I posted to y'all earlier, I went to bed 🛌🏻 and slept for nearly an hour and a half. Don't usually nap in the mornings, but it was irresistible. Got my one thing done on the task list after I got up, then I got the basil, oregano and parsley 🌿 that I harvested on Monday morning picked over, cleaned up, oiled up and popped them in the freezer. Quite a bit of it will go in Corey's next marinara.
After I talked to Corey at his lunchtime call, I had to drag my grubby little self into the shower and then I scampered on down to the stores. First Aldi, then Walmart, then filled up the car with gas. 🚗 I just finished getting a package of bacon 🥓cooked off in the oven for Corey's monster burger 🍔 that he wants for dinner, and some mushrooms 🍄 done on top of the stove for me. Picked him up some fresh limes and an avocado to make guacamole and one big, sweet Vidalia onion so if he wants to fool with them, he can make onion rings. 🧅 Purely for him, I might add. I have a tendency to take the onion out and then eat the crunchy ring that's left, which makes him a little twitchy. 👀🤣😁 Don't know why! 😇🤷🏻♀️
Did I mention that I got everything actually sorted out between the VA and the gastro? Everything went through except the Skyrizi prescription from the gastroenterologist, and that's been resubmitted. I am so pleased! I've got an appointment set up with the local dermatologist later in the month. Still got to work on getting to the eye doctor, but that's pretty minor, as the VA has one I can see near me. CT Scan is Friday, and then a full round of tests two weeks after my first home injection which is supposed to be around August 9th.
Rosemarie - I keep forgetting to say that I do look for your posts, and am always pleased to see you post, dear heart. I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip once you're on your way.
Allie - Glad you're OK after your adventurous little trip, and hope they get the echo rescheduled soon. Sorry the UTI isn't subsiding. They're so horribly uncomfortable.
Relaxing now until Corey gets home - my Kindle should have recharged while I was out swanning around. 🤓
Later, babies,
Love,

Greetings fabulous ladies. So happy to have spent the time catching up on all the positive developments, learnings, photos, food porn and stories of your everyday courage, compassion, resilience and recipes. There are times I can almost see this thread as a movie. Who would you like to play you???? Myself? Selma Hayek with salt and pepper hair.
Tracey: I agree with Heather. Hold onto your dream and believe it can happen. You are so incredibly talented and creative. Maybe you will be the one to finally get us a teleporter and you can take the maiden voyage around MFP-land. I know I have been profoundly honored to meet many of the ladies we know here. And I hope I can meet more of you soon. Best of luck with the job search.
Lisa: You certainly have poured a lot of heart into your AR home. Six years? Seems like yesterday you were moving in.
Machka: I love all you have done with the new house, and given the benefits of this location, I think you and DH are well on the way to a happier, healthier and safer lifestyle. May it become the best place you have ever lived.
Everyone: Thanks for being here and giving this community your stories and spirit. I always learn so much here, and I cherish your presence in my life.
Back when I was still working my full time professional job I was always happiest when I was on a trip, just back from a trip or getting ready for a trip. This summer feels like that and it’s wonderful. Put this epistle in a spoiler.Since Mother’s Day weekend, I’ve been on three short jaunts, packed with emotional reconnections, friendship and fun. 1) Charleston, S.C. with my special friend for Bonnie Raitt concert; 2) Burbank, California for my 50th High School Reunion; and 3) road trip to Taos with a friend visiting from east coast. And I am about to embark on another short trip beginning this weekend with my special friend and fellow Golden Goober, N. He will arrive here in his van on Saturday after driving west from New Hampshire and making stops to golf in different states. Once he arrives here, I’ll hop in the van and together we’ll take 3 days to drive up to my nephew’s house on a river in Idaho. One stop we will make will be to Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves in Glenwood Canyon. I’ve booked a massage for him….his first! We have talked about this at length and he is very amenable. This will be our fifth playdate in just over a year and since he's coming to my humble abode, there is a tad more excitement and giddiness. I don’t stress about him, but I do rack my brain about how to surprise and delight him. And quite honestly, it doesn’t take much because he is such an upbeat and cheerful person naturally.
My girlfriend from NYC/Atlantic City had mentioned to me months ago that she wanted to see Diana Ross performing at Red Rocks. So I procured tickets, and J flew out. The day after the concert, we jumped in my car and drove the scenic route to Taos for the weekend. She loves art, good food and culture. Taos did not disappoint. And for that matter, neither did Diana Ross, who is still gorgeous and glamourous at 80. Ever the pro, she actually sang “No wind. No rain. Or winters storm….” While getting drenched and blasted by a freakishly fast and furious thunderstorm. This was in an ampitheatre, and I estimate 90% of the patrons stayed till end of show huddled under plastic ponchos. It was memorable.
Add me to the rest of you who have procedures coming up. I’m getting a colonscopy on the 24th. Ick. My neighbor and condo pool walking pal will take me. Did I mention I have a new friend who I water walk with at least once a week? She has a lot of weight to lose and wants to get stronger on her feet before an upcoming birthday trip to Spain. She says that watching me workout at the pool 3x a week inspired her to get started. So, when I see her, I make time to walk and talk with her and do my best to encourage and empower her towards her goals. She inspires me with her sobriety and discipline of cooking healthy meals for herself.
Mars, my bossy dog-cat is reminding me its late and I should get ready to turn off the lights and this laptop. Stay well. We can do this.

Heather - I love how you encourage so many of us on here.
I don’t know why my dreams always get pushed back for reality. It must have something to do with how I was raised not to take risks.
Good luck to Max tonight. Do all of them attend private school?
I need to get my hair trimmed, maybe I’ll do that this weekend.
Lisa - Rodger doesn’t have any friends either. I really wish he did. I don’t think it’s very healthy that he doesn’t but he seems happy enough.
I’m with you on the DrBenja - MFP is my anchor, but we’ve never seen before. 🙄
I have been denying friend requests from people forever but the last few weeks it seems to have really increased in number sometimes two a day.
The scammers try everything they can.
Machka - I have never had one of those serene first night scenes either. Those pictures are probably all staged, or they hired movers. 😂 congratulations on your first night.
Annie - if you’re dying your hair you would just have to tell him to wait a bit. I need to dye my hair today, it needs to be washed and I purposely didn’t last night so I could dye today. I went with a more red than I normally do, if I don’t like it, it will only be about 6 weeks before my next one.
Machka - the same complaints are being made about trade services here as well.
Mike Rowe - the guy from Dirty Jobs has been saying for years that if we don’t start encouraging youth to loon for futures in the Trades we are all going to suffer. They expect in the USA a shortage of trade professionals in the millions. He has started a scholarship program to get people back into it.
There is a podcast called “The Way I Heard It” episode 394 about trades and his scholarship program.
Allie - I love the haircut. I bet it would need to be dyed grey.
Rita - I like the spaceship flying into the mall.
Hope you feel better soon.
Barbara - We sure make things worse sometimes don’t we. Sorry about your little tree.
Pip - that’s odd they would refund one and not the other. Did you end up at least keeping it to maybe sell online?
Rori - you are having fun. Does water walking help build strength? How deep of water?
I’m intrigued.
I went to ceramics tonight. I finished one piece of my 3 piece set snowmen.
I did some laundry after Rodger and I got the AC put into the window. It was 37C.
Still no interview scheduled.
Chat tomorrow.

Tracey - I agree with Rori, you are soooo talented, intelligent, imaginative, gifted with kids, very expressive in your writing, and so many other things. This is your time.
I think we sometimes get overwhelmed by the big picture, but we can just choose to turn towards the things we enjoy and dream of, and take one tiny step.
Rori - Sounds like a fulfilling summer, to say the least. I'm sure it had its frustrations and ennuis, but you kept moving forward with openness. We only have one life, and it is not a dress rehearsal. I'm looking forward to making some kind of trip when I'm all healed up in the autumn. It will probably be in this country as they are changing the passport requirements in October and chaos is predicted! London looks attractive at the moment, but it could be Edinburgh, or .......anywhere!
John said last night that it is time we went out for a meal together! So we are going to The Regency by Uber after my girlfriends Zoom today. I might get the bus back if I can stagger up the hill. Hooray for John!

Today’s gratitude: Shadow’s good morning greeting. Joe’s recommendation of Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop on Amazon Prime. Hot shower at the gym.
Tracey imho with pen, paper and faxes, more people had gainful employment, fewer homeless. Love your idea “Tracey’s Community Craft Cabin” Camaraderie is crucial to our health, both physical and emotional. Really your dream world tour. C’mon down!
Monique bless you for the work you do. Had to google Miss Rachel. Me, I’d find Teletubbies more calming
Lisa thanks for the Dr. Benja caution. Your list. WOW!
Annie, good luck at the DMV. I don’t feel strong or brave, feel whiny and cranky. ;{
Heather hooray for carpet out from bathroom. Hope you get an estimate/commitment soon.
Margaret thanks for the details. Think I have everything on hand but the geranium oil, can pick that up from the doTerra gal at the farmers’ market Saturday. Thanks again!
Congrats on getting out the smaller clothes, well done!
Rebecca thanks, you’re right. Saying what I mean is healthier than “stuffing it down”. And yes, communication needs improvement ;}
Allie both are cute! Whooshing you healing.
Oh Debbie, I am so sorry your DH is so uncaring for your feelings, or the truth. ((hugs))
Rori safe travels. how you seek things to surprise and delight your special friend, one lucky guy!
Machka and Tracey with you about first nights. Even with movers hired, my first night in our little blue cabin in the hills above the sea was hell. 95 degrees, no breeze, no fans in any store within 30 miles, all our fans with Joe or the movers a day away. Sleeping bag on floor with dogs, cried myself to sleep.
Some good news, water guy will be here with helpers tomorrow at 9am to move and hookup the storage tank. Joe cautioned me they may damage or have to cut down “the other redwood tree” since it’s near the entrance to the side yard. This one is significantly bigger, not a giant but not a sapling either. I’m looking for sources of redwood seedlings and will plant as many as I can for the future. At least this time he communicated first !

Tracey - Their primary school is state funded, though it is a bit different, being bilingual English/Spanish. The secondary school they have chosen is private, though Max has a 40% academic scholarship. Edie has one more year at primary and is taking exams for the private school in November. She is hoping to get an 'all rounder' scholarship. It is my impression, though they haven't said so, that the other grandparents are funding some, or all, of the fees. We just spend our money on cruises!
The only decent state secondary school in Brighton is a church one. They did go to church for over a year in order to get him in, but decided on the other school in the end. I am not happy with either option, but I must admit that Max is very happy in his school and it suits his temperament perfectly. He is 'geeky' and would probably drown in a big state school. The girls are more robust.
Rosemarie - I was always poor at Art at school and not encouraged. Every time I tried to create something in my first marriage, my children and husband mocked my efforts, and I was very discouraged. It was only on a cruise that I tried watercolours for the first time , just as a fun thing to do, and it took off from there. It's wonderful that John loves it too.
My knowledge of the history of Art is very good, and I adore all things creative and 'designery'. I enjoy experimenting with different styles, often inspired by something I have seen on the Internet. My favourite painter is Matisse, but I love every style. We now have a huge pile of paintings and ought to do something with them!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
Just got a text. Max won various certificates, including Academic Excellence, and got the 'Getting Involved' cup. He has been running the Dungeons and Dragons club, just like his uncle! Glad to see him socialising.
It's all very Harry Pottery. I refused to send my children to a school with uniform. I hate it. Nearly all schools have them now. Max has grown out of his.
My son got back home to see England equalise with a penalty. (They won and are in the final on Sunday) John will be going over to theirs for the match.

Morning, my chicks,
Waiting to hear Corey's alarm go off... either it didn't go off yesterday morning, or he turned it off within a moment of it buzzing, as I looked up at 4:55 and he wasn't out and about. Usually, at latest, it's 4:45! So I scrambled in and cajoled him awake from the door... purely due to memories of my brother, who would swing at whoever woke him--that was mine and my sister's punishment if we were cranky in the mornings, Mama would send us to wake him.
Rori - Always good to see your face... 😁 I figured you were swanning around the country somewhere, and it sounds like you were having a great time doing so. I'm trying to "flip" my outlook on my upcoming September colonoscopy for the idea that it's just a wonderful reset for my whole gut. A way to make sure everything's cleaned out and ready to be restarted with healthy foods. People pay thousands for "cleanses" in LA, you know! 🦋 <That's the emoji I got when I typed in "butt," so even Microsoft is trying to make it pretty! 😁🙂👀 Ha!
Not sure if it's the medications helping my system heal or swapping coffee for tea, or maybe a combination, but sleeping for six to seven hours straight and then napping later is just, well, dreamy for lack of a better word. 💤 Waking up rested is a revelation of sorts... and I swear, someday I'll get used to it and stop talking about it.
I MUST get some work done on that quilt today if I'm to get it done and out the door by Viv's birthday in mid-August. It's a self-imposed deadline, she's not expecting it at any given date, but I'd really like to have it done.
Have a grand day, my dears.
Love,

About uniforms ... I think just about all the schools in Australia require their students to wear uniforms. So do a lot of businesses. Generally, there seems to be stricter dress codes here than in North America. My impression of school children in the UK was that a lot of them also wear uniforms.Anniesquats100 wrote: »Yesterday Dad called me for an early ride home from his adult day care. It doesn't surprise me that your father was just "done". Sometimes he might stay the whole time, sometimes he might need to come home. My husband does the same thing.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to count on things like that working all the time every week.
When my husband is done with an external activity, I either have to take him home or suggest that he or we go somewhere quiet to rest. Which means that I either have to know where we can go or think fast! Sometimes I'll ask if he wants to sit quietly in a park or in the van, or if he wants to go for a coffee.
If your father suddenly wants to come home, maybe ask if he can sit quietly for a few minutes or have a glass of water or something, then decide what he'd like to do.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Barbara so sad about your redwood. Glad there is another one. And loved Rebecca 's reply to you. Insightful.
We had a great trip to the DMV yesterday - a long wait balanced by the lack of problems with the car inspection and paperwork. So now the title and registration are current. Yay! Next step is selling the car, which includes convincing my dad to sell it.
Machka yes my dad did come home and rest on the couch. He wouldn't tell me if he had some minor digestive issues, so maybe it was just that. He eats lunch there, and he can never tell me what he ate.
Today is horseback riding. Hope it's not too hot.
Have a great day folks. May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

For those who aren't on my FB, this morning's excitement:
So... I was walking around the house after putting the water on for Corey's garden and I saw the six-footer shown above. Found out my heart is in better shape than I thought, because it got right back in there and started beating (after jumping RIGHT out of my chest, thumping on the ground and doing backflips for a few seconds).
So I turned around and tried to go in the house and had forgotten to unlock the back door.
And I turned my self around, hiked all the way around the house, found my phone and came back out and it was still in the same place! And I realized it had three tails, so I thought we not only had snakes, but had MUTANT snakes.
And then I realized it was a six-foot-long STICK, and those were branches.
Life in the country.
Lordie.
I did throw a rock at it after I took the picture.
Just in case.
It was definitely a stick.11 -
When we moved into our current house from one on the other side of town, two of my friends offered "help". One came to the old house and worked for a long time with me to do the final cleaning. The other prepared dinner for us, brought it to the new house and had dinner with us. Cleaning with the first friend was fun since she was great company and an excellent worker. The other, not so much. She and her husband wanted to talk politics while we ate and although we share similar views on the topics, it's not something I enjoy talking about. We were exhausted when they left.
My whole experience with the wisdom tooth extraction has been so easy and painless that I am embarrassed at how much I whined about it and dreaded it. Good lesson for me. I hope all of you with upcoming "procedures" have similar experiences.

Wonderful visit with sis, her DH, their son and his kids. Does anyone have Elon Musk's phone number and/or address? I really want to pay him a visit and talk about getting that darn teleporter in production. This is getting ridiculous. That way I could visit with sis in Indiana or nephew in Boulder any time I wanted and still get home in time to feed the chickens!
