Pain creeping up now, but not too bad. I've had some liquid paracetamol and an ibuprofen. They will give me a synthetic morphine at 10 tonight, so I may get some sleep.
The nurses are lovely, but very busy.
John came over and was happy to see me looking perky. I've eaten dinner, and the crême brulée was still excellent.
A bit of TV and somehow I've got to get to the loo. Still supposed to be drinking water.
The annoying thing is these inflating stockings. They inflate every so often, alternately, but they also burp loudly after each one. Why they have to burp, I have no idea.
Luckily I have my earplugs with me.
So, mini adventures. Every hour I'm nearer recovery.
Carol - Glad if wasn't worse. I hope recovery goes speedily from now on. I am fortunate that, in my bathroom at home, I have a door knob I can grab to help me off the toilet. Plus a raised toilet seat. I absolutely dread falling.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx9 -
I had a reply to a few of you last night, but I was on my glitch laptop and it went bye-bye. I rewrote it to send and it went poof again; SO I just gave up and went to bed.
I just caught up reading the past couple of days.
Pip- I know you will do what you need, to take care of yourself. If this had been me I would be inclined to believe the cause to be from donating blood after exercising, then sitting in the heat and sipping alcohol. All things that I enjoy. 😆 If it were me, I would want to wait to see if it was a one time thing. DH would probably harangue me, until I went to the doc, though. Hope you are feeling better.
Heather- Hope you have an easier recovery than last time. Stay on top of your pain management meds. Sending healing hugs.
Michele- I wonder what Denise feels she needs to prove to herself or others. She acts very much like a teenager trying to prove they are grown up. You and Vince are really doing all you can do. Keep communication open.
It has been a wonderful Friday. Only two kids here, today; so we ate breakfast and walked over to the beach. We were the only ones there from 8:45am-10:45! It was peaceful and lovely. Kids went down for nap right after lunch. Absolutely perfect.
Sending good thoughts, love, peace and healing vibes to all who need them!

Strava app = 746c
Other- 90min, laundry fold/put away, fill front fountain, restock what’s needed for next camping trip, make 1/2 batch of tea, etc= 300c est
Total cal 878
Didn’t spin, just piddled around the house and did stuff. Thanks for all of your concern and comments. I have a phone appointment with the doc on 8/6 so I’ll bring it up. My walk and exercising before donating blood is a usual thing. The only thing that was different was I didn’t wait 15 minutes before leaving and I had one drink. I feel back to normal now. A + was the weight loss:0) !!!!!

KJ - I really want to keep the lines of communication open. As I've told you all before, we're sure that Pete was the one who badly abused Lexi (cat). And someone who abuses an animal is very likely to abuse a person. We know that he was emotionally abusing her when we lived in Kennett Square. I know this sounds bad but every time we go up there, I always look.
I made rice kripsie bars for tomorrow when Ken & Lynette come over. I'll buy some premade biscuits (I suddenly remembered that I can't make them from scratch). I have some tomatoes from the soup kitchen, maybe I'll cut them up and have them as the vegetable. We're going to have grilled chicken. I do have some corn on the cob in the freezer. But it is SOOO good this year (probably because last year I couldn't cook it until the next day and this time I cooked it right after it was picked) and, honestly, I don't want to use it. For one thing, I didn't get the two bags that I asked for, only 1 bag and one dozen. Also, I've given quite a bit to Jess. I know that sounds selfish, but I want to keep it for us. So therefore we're having tomatoes.

Heather - Stay ahead of that pain, woman, it's important. Hope all continues well.
Well, apparently the prednisone is acting like a stimulant, as even with four hours sleep last night, I'm still wide awake and a little fizzy 14 hours later. That's OK, I took advantage, got a lot of things done. 😂👀🐿️
So now, I'm sitting with my feet higher than my heart so my ankles will stop swelling, because I've been blowing and going all day. Now I'm watching various videos that are absolutely not making my life any better, just curious and they're adding to my knowledge base. 😲👀🤷🏻♀️ Can't be virtuous EVERY minute, no one would believe it's me! 🤣
Corey will be calling in 30 minutes to an hour, heading home for his four days "off." Everything's here to do the project he has in mind, and it's all under cover, so whether it rains or doesn't, he'll be able to dive right in. Should be an interesting weekend!
Later,

Carol-glad knee checked out ok. It is easy to overdo!
Rebecca-love those pictures!
Rita-glad mom doing better.
Annie-we were trying to figure out how to get my mom to stop driving. My son was in need of a care. I mentioned to mom that he was looking for one. A few days later she called and said she wanted to talk to him about buying her car! You never know. . . .
Heather-glad surgery went well.
Lisa-prednisone does the same thing to me!
Had one of those work days where I did alot of stuff but not what I had planned! Oh well-it will all work out.
Looking forward to my Friday zoom with friend-she is 15 or so years older than me and physically doesn't get around like she once did but she is so interesting to talk too! Looking forward to hearing her views on current events. I learn much from her.
Need to throw something together for dinner-making a nice salad I think. Slowly getting eating back in line from vacation. PT added a couple of more exercises today. I need to make sure I schedule enough time for them everyday.
Take care all,

Rebecca: 🥰 the photos. Enjoy your time with your sister.
Pip: Do be careful, dear girl. We need you 😂
Heather: Good to know you are through the op. Keep on top of the pain. You can ease off slowly as you mend.
Spent far too long watching the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics. 😜

Rita - we must have cross posted.
Scary ordeal with your Mom, glad she is getting helped.
When my Dad was sick, we learned that you should only use one pharmacy as well. My parents would use four different ones and therefore things got missed. When we had to take him to the hospital he had two large freezer bags of meds, he shouldn’t have been taking half of them. In fairness, dad’s doctor was concerned and had asked for the local pharmacist to get him a list of meds to review. Unfortunately he didn’t have all that they had filled.
So much for people under stress to deal with.
Lisa - I remember those rrrr-rrrr-rrrr sounds.
Currently my vehicle is doing rrrrrrrrr- before it starts. I’ve had it to several mechanics and none of them can figure it out.
It doesn’t seem like it’s been two years on that quilt. Time sure flies.
Margaret - I agree you can’t outrun a poor diet, but I am thankful for some meds just the same.
I think all of the pesticides and chemicals certainly have an effect on the number of cancers these days.
Michele - the education system has changed so much, most things are taught in more than one manner. It’s not a lot of memorization these days. I bet PJ is doing wonderful.
Allie - Are you enjoying sharing Alfie? You probably enjoy the break from the barking.
Heather - I hadn’t thought of putting one in the fridge that’s great!
Terrible on the Uber driver.
I hope you have a night with minimal pain.
Pip - that’s sounds scary
Lanette - I’m not wearing croc’s ( the original ones) I’m wearing more of recovery slipper/slide, but a knock off brand. It’s really helping. The exercises for my calves and the night splint Allie recommended help a lot too. I am very careful how I hold my foot and am careful what I wear when I go out.
Rosemarie - Thank you. I don’t have an Etsy shop. The ceramics I do for me and my family.
We sell some wood ornaments at local markets at Christmas. DH is thinking of making some other things, but he hasn’t decided yet.
I’ve thought of getting Etsy setup, but it’s quite pricy.
I hope you enjoy the time with your Mom.
It’s so nice to enjoy a summer. I hadn’t realized how much I missed until last year.
Barbara - you sure are attentive to Joe’s cues.
Yes the two ladies I interviewed with will be working very closely with me.
My 2nd interview today went very well I think. I had actually had dealings with her in my previous job at the manor. I had to do two assessments and 2 questions.
The 1st assessment was reading a budget and offering two suggestions on how to cut costs in two areas that they were losing money.
The 2nd was manipulating an Excel Data sheet.
The other candidate will be having her 2nd interview on Monday so I expect I’ll hear something by end of week next week.
Carol - I hope you heal quickly now.
On driving with DH. I really trust my DH he drove professionally for years and has many defensive driving courses, however he has gotten so I don’t like driving in the city with him. I do love going on road trips with him though.
Rebecca - 💜💜 love the photos!
More I wanted to comment on but my phone is dying. I am at the stock car races with Rodger tonight and all day tomorrow. This was his Christmas present.
We have had +30’s for at least two weeks and tonight the feels like with the wind is 10 😳. I am buying a throw to bring with me tomorrow. It’s cheaper than driving home to get one.

SophieRosieMom wrote: »About Foot Pain:I've been thinking about foot pain and how it's now known it can often be helped - or even prevented - with the daily calf (and also hamstring) stretches. I wish medical providers would start emphasizing this when we get into our 50's and beyond instead of just jumping into the "walk more" advice.
I bet if they talked about the importance of daily stretching to avoid foot injuries and to also help with balance, some of us seniors could remain active longer. At least that's applicable in my case. My mom stopped walking for exercise in her later years due to "balance problems" and painful feet, mainly bunions and probably toe misalignment. Dementia and broken hip followed that inactivity. Correlation or causation, who knows? I wonder how different her final years might have been if her foot pain (which might have affected her balance) could have been taken care of early on - maybe before it developed. Wake up call for me.

In both cycling training and running training, there is an emphasis on stretching the calves.
In the cycling, we didn't stretch the calves so much prior to riding, but once we were out and riding our long distances, there was a set of stretches we'd go through periodically which included stretching calves.
In running, there's a big emphasis on stretching the calves in several different ways. I find stretching my calves mid-walk is good too, especially when I'm walking fast - it eases off any leg or foot pain I might be feeling.
I also do calf drives (as seen here: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/jul/12/faster-stronger-runner-plyometric-exercises) from time to time. You're not supposed to do those every day, but I'll often do them if I'm waiting for something ... hop up and down for a bit.
When I climb stairs, I pause and stretch my calves on the stairs from time to time.
We did a lot of stretching before fencing, which was really good. I was impressed!
I've also done quite a bit of yoga and pilates.
And I've found that walking in fairly deep snow and soft sand is really good for building up the calf muscles.
In addition to all that (and I've mentioned this here before), when I'm in the shower each morning, I don't stretch my calves so much, although I might do a little bit, but I stretch my feet. I'll hang on so I won't slip, then while the hot water is blasting on my feet, I'll spread my toes, and curl my toes, and stretch out my feet.
One of the reasons I stretch my feet, and do all the other calf stretches is to ease off the arthritis pain in my feet. I've seen physiotherapists and a couple different podiatrists who recommended these things when I burned my left foot to the bone and when I developed arthritis.

On Pilates ... my husband and I both attended a year or more of physio-led pilates after his accident. I focused on increasing strength, especially core and hamstrings. He focused on general strength and balance.
Our physiotherapist instructor had him doing a lot of different balance exercises.
He also struggled with vestibular issues, and our physiotherapist did several other things to improve that.

Today’s gratitude: When Joe checked the water storage tanks, they were full to the brim, even after a load of laundry and a luxuriously long hot shower washing my hair. Line dance demo at the fair went well, was actually fun, but looong. 18 dances in a little over an hour with no breaks, a real workout. All those steps (10,057) brought July’s average up to 7778 goal, now to keep it up.
Lanette Dr. Matt’s on the “training” vs “workout” or “exercise” mindset really spoke to me. The BB&B is “training” so I can dance, play with the dogs, garden, etc. Thanks forever for introducing me to him. https://youtu.be/ZVk4dbWmY6c?t=50
Ginny I’m with you about the Fosamax, for the same reasons. When oral surgeon took be off it, my MD wanted to start me on HRT, no way in light of my family’s medical history of breast cancer, heart attack and my personal of DVT. Found a small Canadian study showing a combination of supplements showing the same or better bone density improvement, pm me if you want the link. I’ll keep with the supplements till the implants heal, then re do the DEXA scan. If all’s well, goodbye Fosamax! Glad to hear you’re heading out of the COVID impact, sure has been a long stretch.
Heather so sorry your UBER driver gave you such a rough start. Not a morning when you needed any more stress. Delighted to hear all’s well, whooshing “less pain” energy your way. Your “every hour I’m nearer recovery” attitude? Brilliant!
Carol so glad to hear you rested better yesterday. Fingers X’d you can start PT soon.
Annie yours to pip about the dogs and vet. Right on. IMHO if your nephew is interested in the car, let him persuade your Dad to sell it. You have enough persuading to do as it is.
Rebecca the pics, thanks!
Rita hoping your mom’s PT goes well and she can be quickly back to her home.
Debbie fingers X’d Joanne has (and respects) an exit date. ((hugs))
Tracey fingers, toes, eyes all crossed that you get good news next week. You would be such an asset to any company who hired you.
Terri the poem. Delightful

For the moment ... we've had way too much to do with this move. It's been full-on every weekend and most evenings.
When everything is moved and unpacked, I'm not going to know what to do with myself!
We were at it again today ... a van full of stuff went to the tip and a van full of stuff came home. About half of it will stay here and we'll move the other half into storage tomorrow.
Then we'll head back to our rental and hopefully we'll take out most of whatever's left. Plus I'll clean a bit and do some gardening. I hope.
We'll be back there on Wednesday when the end-of-lease cleaners come, and my husband will stay for the day to fill our van with some remaining gardening stuff and some shelving he wants to remove from the basement (he built it before his accident and wants the wood for new shelves in his workshop shed which he will build eventually.
Our COVID boosters have slowed us down a bit ... I'm having the same reaction I had after either my first or second shot.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Heather Yay for the operation is done!
Rita Yay for SysAdmins! It's a lot of responsibility, and a lot of repetitive work. It's always hard to do a job that others don't understand.
I'm sorry your mother kept forgetting who you were. That's got to be tough.
Tracey enjoy the races!
Today we are going walking, then out to lunch in a historic restaurant. Should be fun.
I noticed a chore to get done. The wood around the garage door needs at least paint. Hope it's not rotten. So after the party I guess I will look for someone to hire. There's always something.
Have a great day my friends! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Morning, my chicks, from the lovely coolish morning of the middle of the country,
Already ferried Corey's last cup of coffee to him this morning, and we're both starting out with more than eight hours sleep, and lots of energy. I expect I will peter out fairly quickly, but then again, I'll be taking my prednisone here shortly, so who knows? If it hits me like yesterday, it could be Energizer Bunny time... 🐇🤣
Hope it's a good weekend for all, I'm going to put on my kicks and get the prep work done for getting the carport re-clad - get the vehicles moved, get the floor swept and the mitre saw and sawhorses set up with extension cords, etc.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR
