Annie: Sorry about the diagnosis for your dad. It’s a rocky road you are travelling. I agree with others about not mentioning the fees for Daddy Day Care. You don’t need the hassle if he decides it’s too expensive. You need that respite.

Rebecca: I’m not that keen on clothes shopping myself. Not even shoes tempt me these days.

Getting ready for my guests tomorrow. We will work on my dining room table so need to clear out all the paraphernalia from my groups pronto.

My Austrian friend arrives on 12th July, which can be a little fraught in Northern Ireland, due to the annual Orange Parades. She is staying in the city centre for 4 days. It’s over a weekend, so we will spend some time with her and her husband. We will fit into whatever they are planning. We haven’t seen each other in over 30 years. We hosted each other over several years of educational exchanges with our twinned towns. We keep in regular touch. So looking forward to meeting in person again. .

🇺🇸 Happy 4th July 🇺🇸 to all my American (and Canadian?) friends. It’s election day in UK, so I will be voting later.

Good morning beautiful ladies!

Thanks to Machka, Terri, Barbara, Lanette, Ginny and Tracey and the rest of our community for your concern about my dad. Today I have to sneak in a shower when he is occupied. I thought I could do it yesterday while he was out to lunch, but that fell through.

Tracey right now my favorites are Toni Anderson, Laura Griffin, Lisa Regan and Allison Brennan. I bought two Maranda Collins to try. I like romance thrillers with a strong female lead, but I read other stuff just to mix it up.

And I was thinking of temping for you too! It's a great way to explore jobs.

Rebecca you go, girl! Excellent fresh start!

Heather so glad voting went well.

Barbara so the water adventure continues. Sorry about the financial blow. These expenses come out of nowhere.

Yesterday I had to send my Dad back upstairs to change his clothes. My mom used to do that all the time. I don't worry about the black socks, but the plaid shorts with slippers were a bit much for a lunch date.

I recently read how nomads who live in vans shower - many of them have gym memberships, and some rely on camp type showers which consists of hanging a black bag of water in a tree with a hose attachment in the sun for a bit. When I spent 3 months cycling around Australia and 8 months cycling around the world (various locations around the world), I used showers in accommodations, showers in truck stops, and showers at the beaches (the ones people use to rinse sand off). I've also used bodies of water like lakes and ocean.


When we lived in the shack in the middle of nowhere for a year after the bushfires here, this was our summer bathtub:


Between pond baths, I used this method of bathing in the summer. I could wash my hair, and then the rest of me. I think we had a shower bag as well for rinsing.

Since my sinus cleared up and putting a small piece of medical tape across the center of my mouth at night to help encourage nasal breathing I am sleeping better. I also try to drink at least one small glass 4-6 oz of tart cherry juice too. Try to wear light compression stockings during the day when I can. I do not cover my whole mouth with tape. I also could not do this when I had a sinus infection. When I cleared up my diet the sinus infection went away.

By sleeping better I mean at least 6-7 hours of no leg cramping and no getting up to have to use the bathroom. Solid sleep.

I learned the importance of clear sinuses and nasal breathing as it helps increase your levels of nitric oxide.

From the internet..."Nitric oxide dilates blood vessels, raising blood supply and lowering blood pressure. Conversely, it helps protect tissues from damage due to low blood supply. Also a neurotransmitter, nitric oxide acts in the nitrergic neurons active on smooth muscle, abundant in the gastrointestinal tract and erectile tissue."

I am wondering if when I had chronic sinus and gum issues if this contributed to my blood pressure being high. My blood pressure is now in the normal range.

Nora Roberts put a new trilogy and new stand alone out each year. I love most of the trilogies. I don’t have trouble finding her books though. Here her books list what are stand alone and what are trilogies at the front of each book.

Machka - I find it easier to move the stuff and get rid of it after myself. Trying to get to donation centres or dealing with selling stuff during a move is stressful.

JD Robb's are set in mid-21st-century New York City (about 2050 or so) ... so they aren't very futuristic. Just watched another video on gut health. Everyone's journey to improve their gut will be different. Sometimes in the beginning even healthy foods can upset your gut. So the importance of being aware of how you feel after eating a certain type of food is important. Examples they used were foods high in lectins like kidney beans, soy beans..oxalates spinach,kale, almonds...nightshade like tomatoes eggplant It is best to take a break from these and reintroduce them slowly to your diet if needed. Gluten and rancid fats from vegetable oils were the major foods to eliminate.

Absorption of what you eat is just as important as what you eat. You can eat the best diet in the world but if the gut is not working well your body will not absorb what it needs.

A simple goal for me is I need to work on chewing my food more slowly and rinsing mouth with water or aloe after eating and breathing through my nose.

The good news is they are now teaching the future doctors the gut is the foundation to your health. Healthy gut healthy you. Unhealthy gut the list is too long to name them all.

Another take-your-breath-away day,90 degrees at 10 am, supposed to hit 100 F... but a storm coming this evening, hopefully will cool things down without too much damage, and give all the thirsty plants a drink. Storms blowing up into these hot days are the scary ones, unfortunately. But we'll *ahem* keep a weather eye on the situation. 🤗

I'll be inside... Corey, on the other hand, plans to get some clearing done of the felled tree, and get some firewood out of it. We've got the gas fire set up in the living room, but the man just can't resist it, because he paid somebody to cut it down. I fully understand.

Heather - Sounds like an interesting time with John's old friend... always an eye opener to see a piece of our loved one's past. Glad you were able to get out to vote!

Annie - You would probably love Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer's Liz Danger series. I really enjoyed it, and I'm not always a romance fan... but these have enough suspense and humor along with the romance that I loved all three books. Have been a fan of Crusie's stuff for years, and when she started working with Bob Mayer, it added an interesting male perspective. They did a great job with Agnes and the Hitman, as well.

Flea - Quite a difference from Crater Lake and snow on the ground above it!

Ack! Time to eat my omelet before Egg gets TOO interested.

Took a day off from eating right yesterday and feel it today. Headache, tired, and allergies acting up. So back to it today. Logged breakfast: Quaker Oats Low Sugar cinnamon-spice instant oatmeal with 1/2 cup almond milk, 1 T almond butter, 1 T butter, 1/2 banana, and green tea. Planning a nap then maybe snack of plum and nuts. Not sure what DH has planned for dinner.

I’m simply out of it today. Busy day yesterday and poor food choices are making me ill today.

I listened to a podcast today about how gratitude comes out of suffering. Just reading this thread shows me how many of you are expressing a huge amount of gratitude as the result of some suffering (personal health, family health, home and yard challenges, etc.). Jake just told me how much he has learned from his cancer and the effects of the chemo.

Great job food logging. I just started logging food again, too. Today is day 3 for me. Cooking for husband, mother and now sister I got carried away creating all kinds of delicious recipes over these past 3 months! Feels good to balance things out again.
