I psyched myself up to do my roots, carried everything I needed upstairs, and went to the bathroom cupboard to fetch the box. Nothing there!!! I was so sure I had one in reserve. I felt I had seen it.
So I just washed my hair instead.
My dahlias arrived last night, and I realised, early this morning, that I don't have a large enough ceramic vase to put them in. Glass is no good, because you have to bend the stems to fit. So, I ordered a white ceramic vase. Arrives tomorrow. I may mix up these pale pink ones with one stem of my deeper set, just to get a more natural, varied look. They are pretty good though. I will post a picture when I've arranged them.
Had a quick tidy up in my bedroom, so it looks a bit less like a 'sick room'. It's a bit more civilised now.
Trying out a new mascara. I have hyper sensitive eyes, and nearly everything irritates them. This one has big claims. I always want to get my mascara off by the early evening, which isn't great for cruises. Most days at home I don't wear any. I don't have high hopes.
I'm thinking of toddling round to the Co-op today as a good next distance. I can buy their excellent streaky bacon while I'm there, but it's mainly just for exercise. The Post Office is a bit far. (I need to return the gold belt)
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
Good Friday!
Debbie Yay on roommate front! I really don't understand people who feel they are owed. Even your MIL acts that way. So does my mom. Those two out of your life would go so far to helping your mental health.
Heather and Carol Great strides in recovery!
For all struggling with health issues, hugs and healing thoughts.
So our main mechanic who has had 2 brain aneurysms, a couple of strokes, etc was diagnosed with lung cancer this week. Can't find people to hire. This should be interesting work wise. Not sure what he is going to do medically wise. He is a heavy drinker and smoker. He doesn't eat enough to keep a kitten alive.
I started working on clear up paperwork yesterday. Cleaning up paperwork and equipment that has not been followed up on. I did go to heart doctor yesterday. Heart is good, BP good, pulse ox good. She was concerned about chest pain. Did a d-timer blood test to make sure I didn't have blood clots due to travel. That was okay as well. I am guessing just muscle soreness from driving and swimming. Still commenting on cholesterol. I don't agree with her on that front. I think they have that number too low. My ratios are great as HDL is so high. Will continue doing my eating as best I can and will attempt to get more exercise in. I mainly stand and move at work. I carry things, I bend and stretch. I am not static, just nothing dedicated.
Kittens are still loving hellions. Getting so big! Took them out on leashes for short time last night. Cali is afraid of everything. Tori found a ground hornet nest in my flower bed. I addressed that after the sun went down. I need to get them out more.
Am reading a book from my sister...."Farmer Able" by Art Barter. It is on leadership. So far I see people I know in each chapter. Interesting read.
DH has lost the heart trinket he has carried in his pocket for past 15 years. I gave it to him on our honeymoon. I hope it shows up. He is upset by it.
I have officially been at my job for 26 years! Wow! Generally I love it, but not always easy. Looking more and more towards the next chapter when this one ends. Not sure what that will be, but getting antsy.
Better get ready for work.
Much love!
Thankful for each of you sharing and caring!
Healing thoughts to those needing them.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Carol congratulations on those toenails!
Pip lovely photos! Glad the visit went well.
Rita glad you are treating your sinuses. Get well soon!
Debbie hope your mother's roommate sees fit to just leave, maybe after she has thought awhile. Do you have pictures of things she might steal or destroy? It feels nasty to be suspicious but you have to protect yourself too.
My grandmother's brass lamp went missing once and I was asked to describe it and couldn't.
Well I bought my plane ticket for Las Vegas in October. Yay! I got over my doubts about leaving Dad. I have two lovely nonstop daytime flights, Yay!
My buddy says he will drive me to the airport in Baltimore but I can do it myself if I have to. He has health issues that might crop up.
My biggest issue right now is losing weight so I can fit in my clothes! I've been wearing sweats a lot. And being short of breath in my tight jeans. Gotta change.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Woohoo! Third night in a row that I slept through until morning. Find it hard to believe that it's made that much difference, but it certainly hasn't been hurt by my ten whole minutes of exercise each of these days... 😊🤷🏼♀️😁 Starting to feel reasonably rested.
Heather - I hate when I just know I have something and find I was wrong. When I brought home the shopping on Monday, I accidentally threw a card in the trash that I bought for my son-in-law. Searched everywhere before I gave in to the fact that I pitched it out. One more habit to add to the list - making sure to check things twice, like Santa Claus! 🤣 Hope your streaky-bacon shopping adventure goes well.
Monique in MO - Hope this shift is easier on you. So glad the orthotic is helping, too. Rose sounds like a very active little doggie! I just finished a double round of antibiotics (Cipro and Flagyll) to get the colon ulcers to calm down, so I'm reasonably sure there is no infection anywhere. 😁 This is the first return of the vertigo since May, when the Epley maneuver cleared it up quite handily. The pollen here is crazy high, though, and my sinuses and ears and even my lungs feel a little boggy (definitely a possible cause of the vertigo), but am limited to what I can take due to the 24-7 A-fib. Already on Zyrtec morning and night, and the hot tea helps tremendously. Even with the vertigo, I'm feeling better overall than I have since 2019, and so grateful for that!
Kylia - Sorry about the news from your mechanic's medical situation. The only thing I ever did for 26 years was stay in my first marriage! You're a tough cookie... Glad they're keeping an eye on the chest pain. Always worrisome, that.
Annie - Glad to see you taking strides for yourself, too. So hard when you're the 24-7 caregiver... As far as the weight goes, you know the drill, baby girl, we both do. Start now, start today, this minute. Put in ten minutes on the bike here and there. Change little things first. I've started dropping the amount of creamer I'm putting in my tea (I know it's a sin to put non-dairy creamer in tea, but I like it that way 🥰). I'm reading labels again. Cutting a few calories here, adding a little exercise there. Not exercising an hour at a time immediately and hurting yourself. Just start small again. If you want it, you can do it!
Rita - Hope you're feeling better this morning!
And... the only thing I have to accomplish this morning is getting my daughter's package in the mail. It's got the Halloween trick-or-treat bags, my son-in-law's birthday present (but no card... 🤣), and two dish towels and potholders for my daughter's kitchen. Had fun making all of them but the SIL's present.
Other than that, my only ambition is pretty much just a shower. Oh, and a little laundry to clear the decks for the weekend... And floors. I'm never terribly fond of doing floors. OK, I'll stop now, that's plenty. 😁
Later, my babies,
Love from Arkansas,
Lisa
Oh... and ten minutes of yoga. And the Epley maneuver for my right side again. OK, now I'm stopping, I swear! 🤣🐿️🤪5 -
Youngest son and I had a terrific college visit yesterday. He loved it, and it has become his top choice. Oldest university West of the Mississippi and a little competitive to get in. Crazy expensive, but we have some strategies for financing, so I told him not to worry about that. We need to think of it as an investment in his future. He wrote the application steps and due dates for early action/early decision on a large white board that now sits in the hall by his bedroom. He wrote a very kind thank you message to his admissions counselor about the visit.
He and I had one of the best days we've had together in a long time. Even had lunch together, but he was too excited to eat. Very cute.

Im up and dressed, going to take Doris to the eye dr today.
Then back home..and the weekend begins3 -
Found another reason continue the diet I am on osteoporosis. Turns out a high processed diet is too acidic for our bodies so the body goes to the bones to leech out the calcium and phosphorus act as a base to bring the body to a more neutral pH. Adding calcium without adequate VitD, K2, and phosphorus only creates a situation where you end up with too much calcium in your blood (Ace inhibitors then are used with all their side effects) and not in your bones so it can create plaque, bone spurs, kidney stones. Also learned strength training builds bone. I do need to add more of that. I am getting K2 from butter and Gouda cheese, phosphorus from dairy, fish, and meat. Vit D going out first thing no sunglasses or sunscreen and supplements (I live in a northern climate) Again I need to add strength and resistance training. I have some small dumb and resistance bands plan to start with those.3

@Carol congrats on getting the knee to bend once again! Great job! Also, have you ever considered changing your carbs to fruit or to high fiber types? They satisfy you and fill you up! My pre-diabetes class recommended having some sort of protein with carbs, like nut butter, nuts, or piece of cheese. Doing that satisfies me better than say simply an apple. An apple with nut butter is my go-to snack now!
@Michelle I have a sinus infection. Got antibiotics for that on top of allergies acting up. DH has the same thing. Sagebrush and grasses here.
@Heather Kudos on your fast recovery! On writing, I journal most every day. I write “3 Good Things, Long Term Health Goal, Short Term Goals to get there( get to 145 and stay there for a year. Short term: first 10 pounds then 5 pound increments to 145) What went Well Today (Health wise, ie, exercises, etc), What didn’t go so well today, and finally, A Good Memory”. I try to stay positive to make me more positive! If I want to write anything else, I’ll do it on another page. Showed it to my therapist and she loved it!

Must have needed sleep today as I got up 2 hours later than I had planned. So need to get going. I will walk with ankle weights while doing the reservation tags, then I need to go to town for some groceries. Not much else planned as it will be over 100 degrees outside by the time I get home from that. I started crocheting a Harry Potter and the kit provides enough yarn to do Dobie as well. I’ll post pics when done.
Dinner yesterday was cucumber salad, green bean salad, a cheeseburger, and pan fried potatoes (we only use avocado oil or olive oil so healthy frying!!) Breakfast was 1/4 cup muesli with quinoa (I don’t Cook this right as it stays gritty. Need to figure that out), snack was banana, orange, piece of cheese and handful of nuts, a small bag of popcorn and a Sargento’s Fast break white cheddar, almond, craisins package. No real supper last night.

I have been reading along for three days and made a few notes. I was anxious to get my table and stuff all completed by today and I did it. I’ll post pics in a separate post.
Heather - I have very few clothes myself. When we moved here we had to start sharing a very small closet probably about 1.5m I go through my clothes in the Spring and in the Fall every year. If I haven’t worn something that season, unless it’s a special dress or something I donate it. I know I won’t need pants, I may need a couple of shirts for Fall. I really should try Amazon clothes, I just haven’t yet.
I hope you’re dancing very soon!
Annie - were you raised that there were things women shouldn’t do? My grandfather was a man of contradictions, he had very definite lines of what women should or shouldn’t do, but on the other hand before I got my license he taught me how to do/check things under the hood of the car. I couldn’t mow the lawn though. 😂. My Dad didn’t go by those same standards and just taught me whatever I wanted to learn.
You’ve got this!
Lanette - that seems all new on your power line. It’s good they are proactive and get rid of problems before they start.
Lisa - nice to see you had a good nights sleep.
One of my favourite memories is going for drives with my parents. I try to get Rodger to go for drives with me, but he doesn’t see the sense in them. I think part of it is all the driving he has done for work in his life.
I sure do miss it. It’s not the same when I have to do the driving.
Debbie - I hope your husband is able to find help for his Mom. You don’t need that abuse from him or your son.
Take care of you.
Machka - it’s difficult to leave a place that brings so many memories. You’ll be able to really start enjoying your new house now.
I think that weekend plan is just the ticket!
Annie - it must be a relief to know the car is ready to sell if your dad allows it.
Rita - that doesn’t sound like a pleasant experience at the doctor at all.
Carol - what a great feeling that must have been.
Michele - Most of our family and friends say I Love You frequently to their partners and to other family and friends. I don’t know, I like that Rodger knows where I am and I often let my girls know too if I’m going on a long drive.
Pip - it looks like you’re having a good visit.
Monique - I don’t know if men have the same feelings as we do about “home”. My husband says home is where we are together, it doesn’t matter where it is.
Debbie - I hope the woman doesn’t do anything to hurt your mom’s property or her before she leaves.
Kylia - Sorry to hear about your mechanic. Lung cancer affects the appetite I think. My dad barely ate with it. It was awful. I hope you find some help soon.
Annie - will your sister come stay with your dad while you’re away?

My table and chairs. Michaela and I set the table with my great grandmother’s dishes for a photo shoot.
I am incredibly proud of this job and so thankful it is done!

Last night was able to text with youngest sailor. Dermatologist did blood work and found some abnormalities, but with rash, and his wound on leg that isn't healing, the doctor referred him to internal medicine saying it might be Crohn's. I wish I could be there to just wring the docs neck. His symptoms though he has some skin issues isn't the major symptoms of Crohn's which is an inflammatory disease of the digestive tract mostly. The derm doc didn't even call him back up with his diagnosis, another sailor did, and called my son while he was in berthing, so son said it was heard to understand. I did tell son that more tests should be done, and he has to really be firm with medical so he can be proactive with his health. He's just a 25 yr old kid, not knowing what questions to ask, while still trying his best to be a sailor. Calming thoughts to him is appreciated. I cried and was so confused by this whole situation. Finally medical might actually take his grievances seriously and not just throw topical creams his way.

Rebecca ~ Sure hope your son gets the medical attention he needs. You are a proactive mom and glad you can point him in the right direction.
Tracey ~ Beautiful work. I know you will have many more years enjoying what you have done.
Debbie ~ Wishing good luck to your mom and to you and your husband in trying to remedy a trying situation.

Tracey-- your restored dining set is beautiful. I love the place settings too. Very nice work.
Rebecca --here's hoping your son gets a more diplomatic doctor for a complete diagnosis. If Crohn's, would that mean discharge?
Much love to all. Waiting at oncology for monthly check in.

Rebecca if it is Crohn's are they recommending a gluten free diet? Gut issues can show up on the skin...My friend I just talked to whose DH was in foreign service ended up with type two diabetes she thinks it was from the stress of being in Iran and his diet. Unfortunately in this day and age we often have to become our own doctor. It is our body and figuring out the clues to what is wrong sometimes does fall on us. Doctors can help but only so far...Support him to keep digging until he gets the answers that are the root cause!3

Tracey. Your table, chairs, and bench are so beautiful. I love your dishes, too. The whole area is just perfect.
I’m still waiting on my car to be finished. According to my insurance app, it should be finished today.
My brother is doing much better with his recovery.
I’m with those who will take every “I Love you” I can get, although it does annoy me when it seems automatic from someone who doesn’t show it by their actions.
I’ve been struggling lately to get my steps. It is just too hot. I need to switch up my morning routine, I think. Do my long walk, then have my tea and devotion time. I have been doing a decent job of staying in my calorie deficit, but not so good with logging. I diligently planned out today’s meals, only to log them on Wednesday! I don’t even know how that happens. At least it made it easy to click the little circles again, since they were at the top of my frequently eaten foods.3 -
Tracey--What a beautiful table and the dishes really top it off. You did a great job.
Deb--Glad she has a move out date. I pray she leaves with no problems or trys to push the date out for more time.

I think this may go to Michaela. She actually ended up helping me a bit with it last night. She listened to how the table was made by her 4X great grandfather and the dishes were her 4X great grandmother’s

Barbara – the article on the net said that pushups were strenuous. To me, they’re not at all. They also said situps. Perhaps if you do a full situp it MIGHT be.
Lisa – I don’t criticize Ken and Lynette for saying “I love you” every few minutes, it’s just strange to me that you have to say it every few minutes
Debbie – yea for your mom! I really hope she doesn’t take revenge
Kylia – I am so sorry about your main mechanic. I hope your dh finds that trinket.
I’m wondering if I might have EIA. Yesterday, after mowing the weeds, I came inside to take a shower and I think I could hear myself wheezing. I do remember taking things downstairs like the Halloween decorations and Christmas decorations, and after coming up the stairs, I was out of breath. Gotta see if this continues.
Worked, then dropped some boxes off at the church, then to WalMart to do shopping, then the soup kitchen where I put things in their refrig. Home and I’m thinking that in a few I’ll go in the pool
Tracey – you SHOULD be proud. That table is awesome!
Rebecca – good thoughts sent for your son. How frustrating for you and him
Walk – I like to take my walk after dinner. Seems to help settle the stomach, too. Plus, it’s usually cooler
Well, off to the pool!

Tracey,That furniture looks amazing. It must be so satisfying to complete a project that is sentimental, useful, creative, and beautiful. I, too, am in awe of what you've done.

Tracey - GORGEOUS! What a wonderful picture, including the sweet dinner set. You should be very proud.
John and I say 'Love you' a lot, but not usually in public. We are not ones for constant texting. I do more of that with G.
I was absolutely knackered after my trip to the Co-op. It was at the limit of my ability. Around 400 yards. I had a good hour's nap afterwards. Just took my stick, not my crutch.
Kedgeree for dinner with masses of asparagus. Heaven. Friday night is wine night, so John chose a lovely white wine.
My brother's trip to London was for a healing service at the Methodist church there. Also a Catholic one for his wife. Then they finished with a drink at the Opera House . He is a Born Again Christian.
He begins treatment on Monday.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxx
