Heather - I wonder why the fat in particular helps in healing.
I thought about doing different colour rungs but I don’t think I would like it long term. This is a miserable job, so I don’t want to do it again. 😂 in fairness, I wasn’t thinking when I was priming and should have been much more careful. I’m now having to sand, a lot by hand, to get it prepped for staining the seat. I seriously thought of just painting it too, but don’t think I would like it.
Next weekend when everything is done and I’m mostly cleaned up. I’ll put a coat or two of clear coat over everything to protect it. I was advised to use a new product that is better than polyurethane and I would have to work to get brush strokes in so it should be perfect. It’s pricy though so I need to wait to get it.
I need to go through my closet this weekend, I think I need to spend some money on myself next week for some work clothes. I’m waiting until I’ve been there for a few days to see what people are wearing first.
How frustrating for John! Technology is such a pain at times.
I do need to just start writing. I need to just do it. Just like I did my table.
Lisa - thanks for that advice. I had decided that I would leave the bumps and runs it reminds me of chairs in the country kitchens I grew up visiting. The kind with 10 or so layers of paint. I’m hoping they are done tomorrow.
It’s calling for rain on Friday so I’m trying to beat the weather to get it all complete. Also, I would like a relaxing weekend to get prepped to go back to work!
Well since we’re confessing, I also hate exercise.
Pip - What a shame Kirby had such travel delays. Can he stay an extra day to make up for it? Is he travelling alone or with friends?
Rita - I had a dragonfly in the house the other day. I’ve noticed a lot more in the yard this year too. That is an unusual colour one.
Michele - Rodger and I tell each other we love the other all the time. I wasn’t raised hearing it very often and swore that I would change that in my home.
I knew I was loved it just wasn’t said. I don’t think Rodger heard it a lot either.
I also text when I’m hitting the road, 1 to see if he needs me to stop for anything and 2 because I grew up in the country before there were cells. When we were on our way home we would call to say so that there was a timeframe to be expected. If you were much later than what it should have been dad or Grampie would head out searching for a breakdown. Even now some of the places I travel have no service.
If you have plantar fasciitis you need to give your foot some time to heal along with the calf exercises. I kept trying to push through and ended up making it a lot worse.
Okie - I have painted cabinets in two kitchens. I don’t know if I would do it again. It’s a lot of work but with the proper prep and paint it really is something that can be easily done.
Monique - it sounds like you had a lovely trip. I did get the job I start on Monday. I have gotten into the habit of staying up late and sleeping in over the last couple of weeks so I’m trying to stop that this week so I’m not suffering next.
I didn’t get much done today, I don’t know it or was screwing all of the screws to get the table back together or what, but my shoulder is hurting today so I didn’t do as much as I intended.
My eldest daughter and her family went to a farm today with her inlaws, her SIL is here with the nieces from Florida.
She sent me this picture of herself. It’s a totally accurate picture.

Several firsts today!
I was able to sleep for an hour or more on my front/side.
I went downstairs for breakfast.
I didn’t use my crutch on the stairs.
I took laundry down with me.
I loaded the washing machine.
I spent some time shining the sink and the teaspoon and little bowl that we use for teabag retrieval.
I cleaned the plastic washing bowl.
All these things made me very happy.
Tracey - I think you'll be amazed at what you can find in your closet if you try a few combinations on. Also it could be a great time to declutter anything you don't feel great in. That makes choosing what to wear so much easier, and you can see if you really need something new. We all are prone to hanging on to stuff that doesn't quite fit, doesn't feel right, doesn't make us feel our best. Some colours just depress us. And those 'just in case I lose a few pounds' clothes. Ugh! They say we only wear 20% of our wardrobe. I've pared mine right down and tend to wear the same things over and over, but I love them. I have far fewer clothes than John.
I'm very excited for you.
Remember, Amazon returns are easy peasy, and you can order different sizes if you see something you like.
I have Prime, and get almost everything from them. Only other place is M&S, where I know the sizing. (Big!)
I've just ordered some pale pink faux dahlias for autumn. I was thrilled with the pink tulips I bought in the spring.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Monique I'm so sorry for the child who passed. But glad you had a great trip to NYC. You deserve a break.
Tracey you did a wonderful job on that heirloom table!
Lisa so glad your health is better. Good job on evaluating the colonoscopy and speaking out against it. You are inspiring me to look into skipping mine. I couldn't do it without a lot of help.
For exercise motivation, try this. Write a piece about being out of shape and in the hospital with diabetes or something. Make it as concrete as
possible. Conclude that exercise is not as bad as bedpans. It's negative motivation, but it's powerful.
Pip we are still concerned about your heart. Hope Kirby can get enough rest to enjoy his trip.
Heather so frustrating about John's bank. We are so dependent on modern connectivity. Yay for laundry! That's important.
Michele thanks. He is feeling okay so far, but very much afraid of side effects of prostate surgery. Cancer research is moving fast, maybe there will be more options soon.
The tow truck guy came yesterday and put a new battery in my Dad's car. Yay! So I should be able to drive it to get the oil changed, and have a pleasant lunch next door.
And I ordered the trickle charger from Amazon. So tonight I will set that up. I'm fighting some leftover childhood superstition about not touching the battery. But I can do this. The tow truck guy showed me exactly where it goes, and I match red to red. He said I could call him if I have trouble. We pulled up the order on Amazon and he showed me how to set the mode. I gave him a tip. So everything is on track.
Then I can get back to buying a plane ticket to my reunion in Las Vegas!
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Tracey - great job on the table, bet it feels good to have that accomplished before you head back to work.
Beth - yesterday evening I watched "Snowmageddon" on Discovery+ which focused on the blizzard around Buffalo during Christmas 2022. I remember when you went through it; it was fascinating to see the storm through the videos and stories of folks who experienced it. Hope your mom is doing OK.
Pip - happy to hear Kirby finally made it to his destination, what an adventure. Hope he's able to relax and enjoy himself and see the sights he wanted to see.
Michele - I hope you can get in to see a regular podiatrist that takes Medicare! We have several in our area and they do take Medicare, but orthotics are self pay unless a person is diabetic or has some medical reason. At my last visit with Joe the orthotics guy, we took a look at the bottom of my shoes. It was interesting to see where the wear is occurring. Both feet are wearing the soles on the back outer edge, but the right foot - broken toe/hammer toe foot - is also wearing more on the front. Time to go shoe shopping again, the New Balance wide I found are the most comfortable.
Barbara- nice to see the 3 pups getting along. Little Moose will have a great life at your house. How's the water tank situation coming along?
Rebecca - good job hitting the gym and the weights with or without Lee.
Lisa - good to hear your labs are improving! I thought it was neat you met up with a couple local gals at Hobby Lobby. When we moved here, I was really into handspinning and discovered a spinning group that met once a month. It was fun spending a few hours now and then with these gals and getting to know them and learning more about the community in general.
Rita - neat that you'll be a Beta-tester for the DietID! I welcome any and all information pertaining to diet and health, and keep incorporating tips that work for me. It's a process.
Heather - so happy you are doing so much better every day. One of these days those scars will just be thin lines. Glad John got the banking thing figured out. I'd be panicked too.
Mo - glad to hear you were able to take a little time off. How much longer until you can retire and move to the Chicago area? Did you say 3 years?
Annie - good job getting the new battery and the trickle charger. What a great feeling to get that settled and not have to worry. That tow truck driver sounds like a gem.
Nutrition & Strong: I watched a video yesterday, it was an older lady physician who said young women should focus on nutrition, not calories and being strong, not skinny as an investment for their future years. (I wonder how different my health would be today if I'd had that as a model instead of being raised during the Twiggy era where doctors handed out amphetamines to teens and anorexia and bulimia were almost fashionable at my school ) But still, I don't think it's too late to incorporate that strategy and worth aiming for. The strong part is a little harder the older I get, but not impossible.
OK, the final photo of the powerline clearing. All done, the boys finished it up by 4 yesterday afternoon, leaving only one log at the far end. Going to walk it today (it's not as far as it looks so won't get a lot of steps) but need to find holes under the fence on the right hand side where Rosie might want to scoot under. At least I can now get to them and plug them.
Make it a wonderful day!

Good morning my chicks, from Arkansas, and from this girl who slept eight and a half hours!
The days like yesterday aren't easy, but after only four hours sleep Monday night, my body just couldn't resist a long night's sleep last night. I appreciate every one of those.
Annie - Thank you for that advice. The thought of exercise now or bedpans later makes the choice pretty clear, even to my lying mind. I don't know how long it's been since you had a colonoscopy or what your cancer risks are, but the research can help you decide whether to do it or not.
Monique - Glad you're back with us, and that you're getting enough time to rest. Thank you for the comment on my tests and for the exercise comment, too. Remember, you don't have to reply to everyone every time, though every single reply is appreciated. It can become another pressure if you let it, and you have plenty of those to spare! Sounds like the boot didn't slow you down in NYC at all, and hope that healing continues apace.
Heather - Well done on your first steps back into your life. While not denigrating these wonderful men we married, there are some things they just don't seem to see or need to clean if they do. Corey will clean a sink until it shines, and leave the edges of the faucet grotty. Every. Single. Time. SMH. 👀😁🤣 I just try to appreciate the clean sink and scrub the faucet. Better than doing it all!
Lanette - Love watching these guys work - they came and cleared our power lines last year, but not nearly so much needed trimming back as yours. Nice to see them doing preventive work, so they don't have to come in and repair lines when a tree takes them down.
So... sent a message to my cardiologist yesterday, as the edema in my ankles has gone up significantly the last few days, even though I'm staying cool and keeping my feet up. I took a pic of it and sent it. I keep an eye on it because of the A-fib--it's a real signal for impending problems for me.
So, they're sending a diuretic booster to the pharmacy to add to my regimen for five days. Which means I get to be near the bathroom for a whole different reason! Woo-hoo! 👀🤪 There are worse things. I need to pick up magnesium while I'm there. Already taking potassium daily.
More dinking around making things today, other than a quick trip to the pharmacy.
Corey's good morning call should be anytime now...
Michele - which reminds me. Corey and I probably say "I love you" to each other more than you would be comfortable with as well. As I explained to a friend long, long ago - should something happen to either one of us, I want the last words I hear from him or that he hears from me to be "I love you." He wasn't comfortable with it at first - we both came out of relationships where the love had died long since. Now, he says it first as much, if not more, than I do, and it makes me happy every time.
Love y'all!

Lanette Nutrition strong holds true for us too! For me it is quality over quantity too! How the food is produced like grassfed over corn and soy fed...Animals not given antibiotics...Methods used to produce the food GMO's .
We get so caught up in the calories the nutrition can come in second. It needs to come in first. Protect your liver and feed your gut the foods that make it healthy (fiber).
When you truly look at others you realize they are so many who have some kind of metabolic issue. Bloated stomachs can be a sign of fatty liver disease and high cortisol. Too many dragging through their day lacking the energy they need to do the things that are important to them. Brain fog...the list goes on.
Unfortunately the deck is stacked in favor of the food companies here. Cheap (not very nutritious food) means big profits for them. For example just look at what they make on potatoes turning them into potato chips with little nutritional value. They know you can't just eat one!5 -

I don't drive anymore, so when he goes, I go. I still keep my drivers license active, just in case, but I just hate to drive. Being that I got the license at 50 out of necessity, it just has never come naturally to me.
I am procrastinating baking cookies! I told Athena I would, so I just need to. There is that, "I need to be in the mood to" but I am just never in the mood these days. I will do it this afternoon, I have told myself.

Rebecca I don't drive long distances any more. I used to but don't for a variety of reasons. Jake does most of the driving but now with him being banned from driving for six months, we've had to be creative. Good friends have stepped up to drive him to his two appointments 60 miles away this week but I'm in charge of driving to local stuff. We still can't leave Annie, the puppy home alone so she comes, too. Right now she and I are in the car while Jake goes into the lab for a fasting blood test. Later this morning he has a discharge appointment with his primary care doctor and late this afternoon he goes to the chiropractor. I am great at waiting by myself but waiting with the dog is a special challenge 🐕

I have an appointment this afternoon with a dermatology doctor. The rash has gotten bigger and is bleeding. I am really working to stay out of the big black hole. I am just tried.

Well, I felt better yesterday but today, is a different story. I’m going to the clinic when I’m done here.
Dinner yesterday was salad and meatballs/port in a thick tomato sauce with a dinner roll.

A big change from the way I was eating a year ago with ice cream, cookies, pastries, pizza, candy. And the result has been an average 2# weight loss per month, plus getting my waist back.

I had a nice chat with G this morning. I really wanted to tell her about something that happened this morning. I was listening to a podcast (Esther Perel) when the woman client said, " I want to run and dance and start to live again."
I burst out sobbing. Really sobbing. I'm even crying now as I write this. It was the word 'dance' especially. I had no idea how much I had been repressing my 'joie de vivre' and how much I want to move and dance again. Live again. I've been out of action since March.
Then I had a dream during my nap that I was giving a talk to a big audience, who were all arriving at the venue. I wasn't especially nervous and I had just been directing the rebuild of a house. Wow!
I just hope my dodgy knee holds up!
Vicki - So very sorry about your rash. Miserable. Hope the Dermatologist can help you.

Gals, thanks for the welcome back.
I can tell I’ve missed lots since I’ve been gone. It’s good to see postings from people I remember and look forward to getting to know the new gals. I’m at the Cancer Institute with my sister. She is having a bunch of labs and scans. Hopefully we will be able to go home tomorrow and come back next Monday to get results and a plan going forward.

Vicki - So many gentle hugs from here. It makes even your soul tired when every waking moment has misery all wrapped up in it. Hope you can get some relief, dear heart.
Heather - Kind of sneaks up on you, doesn't it. Those tears replace a lot of them you didn't cry while you were gritting your teeth just to walk across a room. I miss Sunday drives with Corey, just meandering through the countryside, looking at houses and properties and the scenery. There was a freedom to that, and free-ranging conversation, talking about life, the future, and everything. Those have gone away these last five years...🥹 But they'll come back... hopefully soon, in fact. And your joy in life hasn't gone away, I promise you, just your joy in movement, and you will have that back soon. It's just around the corner!
Betsy - Many good thoughts going out for your sister's test results, and for you. Hope Ella's doing well, too.
Went and ran my errands, got all the outside the house things done... and contemplating a busy afternoon or a somnolent one. I think I'll do ten minutes of yoga and then decide. If that wakes me up, I'll do a few other things... If it makes me tired, I'll go take a nap! Second day in a row of tracking my intake as well - Not trying to restrict my eating, whether by time or by calories, not yet. Just getting a good idea of what's actually going in my body right now.
Later, my dearlings,

trying to catch up on here after no power to half the house including wifi since yesterday evening. Got to deal with dh because of it which was NOT good- On top of him being in a pissy mood because of his mom the past week, he was over the top angry at everyone, including me(I was trying to help but that set him off)
Good news is, found out which outlet was bad and he changed it after he got done with his mom's this morning. (I had cleared out that side of son's room so he could get to it(behind son's tv stand that had all his games and consoles piled up on it- son wasn't home). Got that working then son was mad because then his computer wouldn't turn on- I figured that one out- the light switch had been turned off to that outlet. This house is wired so weird. I was very close to just walking out. He has no clue how close.
Best news is, after fixing that, the dryer works again. I had kept that a secret for the past week-drying all the washable pee pads from the cats outside in the back yard every other day. I was NOT going to tell him the dryer quit on top of his mom being a witch.
He has an interview with an agency tomorrow about hiring some help. I will also be talking to another lady at church about the job. As long as MIL doesn't know I know the lady- if she even wants to try. I am very up front about how she is to everyone. Can't go through another lady like the last one- went home shaking and in tears, vowing to never ever go back there(hired her for a week but she left the second morning before her shift was even over)
Have class tonight and then get to go back walking the wetlands tomorrow- Ezie starts school today.
Haven't been walking out there for the whole summer.
Ok, need to have my snack- zucchini fritters that I started to cook last night but then all the drama started so I didn't eat anything.
Then get ready for class.
Will catch up here while I eat. Then feed all the cats and leave by 6.

Gratitudes:
Today’s: Joe got, and made for me, Theraflu with extra honey.
Tuesday’s: Joe playing ball with Shadow … and Moochie!
Monday’s: the backup alert that kept me from clipping the truck parked next to me ;}
Last night felt snuffly so did not go line dancing. This morning full blown cold, sneezing, scratchy throat, headachy stupid brain, so no BB&B or line dance class. Soup and napping. Not a day to do PT or get steps in. [sigh] Took an aspiring which triggered a little GERD retching but nothing like last week thank goodness. Stayed sitting up to catch up here. Now for more soup and maybe some broccoli crunch salad before sleep.
Pip so glad your sister and nephew were able to walk 5 miles. What a surprise!
Tracey That table is gorgeous! It will be a treasure to your grads, even more so because of its history and your hard work. “Cranky?”
Heather how John and Sue’s smiles match despite having different bioparents. Kinda like how my half-sisters are tall, but I am short, like Mama and Papa. Excellent healing, bravissima! Really, really love:your writing counsel to Tracey.
Terri the gillet’s colors. Can you use any squares you shortened off to make pockets? Congrats on the new glasses.
Lisa I like “Dude” but we seem to be devolving to “Moochie Poochie” Also love …” write it like it's a letter to the one of your daughters “ to Tracey. “… there, I said it. I just purely hate it.” That’s always been me, until I stopped using the “E” word. Now I dance, walk, or do physical therapy. A mindset change that has helped me. That having been said, you are right, right, right about “And then it just gets harder and harder to want to do it. . .,” That’s when I need to remember the James Clear “But there will always be reasons to not do something, and this is particularly true of anything worth doing. We value those moments in which we overcame challenge, not those in which we avoided it… “ message.
Rebecca yours about choosing to brush our teeth, insightful! and naming your exercise pants ?
Monique ((hugs held extra long)) and sorry to hear your friend got the corporate shaft.
Thanks for talking about your NY trip, brought back good memories.
Annie “…not as bad as bedpans” Inspiring! Whooshing healing energy to your friend.
Barbie ((hugs)) and good wishes for Jake’s appointments.
Carol praying your pain is easing and knee is healing well.
Lanette, no movement on the water tank/pump room upgrade. Joe’s done what he could to dig out and level the tank. Now that we have water in existing system, we are no longer an emergency and back to waiting. The good thing is he hasn’t billed us for the pump and labor so far. . . “naughty: Hand spinning? With a drop spindle? Always wanted to learn to spin and weave. . . never did anything about it.
Rita you will contribute so much as a beta tester. They’re lucky to have you!
Vicki praying the dermatologist has a quick and effective cure for you.
Debbie so thankful you are getting back to walking the wetlands. Needed respite from MIL and DH. ((hugs))
Later, lighter, lovelies!

This afternoon made blueberry scones for husband, chocolate chip cookies for Atjena, milk.chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for daughter inlaw, dark chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for son, and packed in a box along with the Panda Athena loaned me for traveling. I put a thank you card with gold stars on it for Athena along with some bookmarks, and stickers.
Today husband bought his favorite Chinese barbecued pork pieces from Hagens grocery. He ate them with the hot mustard for lunch frying his nostrils. Then the rest he cut up and I made barbecued pork fried rice. Just like 6 cups of cooked sticky rice, 8 pieces of cut up bacon, 4 eggs, and Bulldog sauce. I also put soy sauce and honey in the container of pork before I warmed it. We have lots of leftovers!

Hello, ladies; I didn't get to work out. After dropping Rose off, I went to the memory care to pay my mom's bill and see her. I don't know if I told everyone that COVID broke out in that unit. They knew my mom was ill cause she didn't eat, and she loved to eat. So, I can not visit till everyone has gotten over it. Then, I went to our grocery store, Kroger, to buy veggies and make a garden vegetable soup. Then I ate brunch. I was tired, so I took a long nap. With my energy, I cleaned the den and loaded the dishwasher. Then, I put in a load of laundry. Then, it was time to pick up Rose.
I feel like my dog is like a child. I lost my energy after that, so that I will go to bed soon. Tomorrow, I will focus on not being in bed with a bedpan. I will move my body and pick more nutritious food. As for the Colonoscopy, I decided that my mom doesn't need to go through that anymore at 82 years of age. I need one next year, but my doctor retired. I will do it before I move. I also need a mammogram(I wouldn't say I like those.). Have of my dad's side of the family was wiped out due to cancer. My dad had breast cancer and so did my mom. My cousin died of ovarian cancer at 41, and her mother had intestinal cancer. My aunt had a double mastectomy cause her cancer came back. Seven of the eight boys died of cancer. I have a wonky intestinal track, anyway. I will not go unless I have some laxative. I am on Pepcid, and prevacid. I retire in 14 to 15 months. I am leaving as soon as all my kids are okay with health insurance.
Lanette, I didn't take time off; I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 pm to 7 am. So when I got off that Monday morning, I was supposed to fly out at 10:30 am and land at 5:50 pm, but I missed my plane. So, I stayed at the airport until 4:30 pm to catch a flight to Dallas, Fort Worth. I saw a plane on Friday at 6:00 am to go to work that night. I am usually off on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So I have 14- 15 months till I retire. I will work in Chicago as well.
As for your powerlines, your guys worked hard, and it looks much better.
Heather, you have done wonderfully in your healing process. Are you going to get any PT as well?
Tracey- Congratulations on your new job! Treat yourself to new clothes.
I am so tired that I can not keep my eyes open.
Take care everyone.
Sincerely,
Monique McMillon
