Lisa ~ You did not offend me at all. In reading all of our posts through the past years, it is easy to understand that we all have different views politically and on religion. And, we are all entitled to what we believe and think. I respect all of you and am so glad that I am a part of our conversations. This is a very good place to get new perspectives on life.

Don't know what's up with me today. Since after lunch I have done nothing but fall asleep! I had a nap, as usual, but couldn't keep awake the rest of the afternoon! Ate a light dinner of cod and broccoli, and then proceeded to doze throughout my TV programmes! Had no idea how the plots ended. Plus, my 'bad' knee is acting up.
I've now come upstairs to bed and hope I sleep tonight.
Before my sleepy time, I chatted to Max, and set off a smoke bomb in the upstairs room to slay any stray carpet moths before DSIL comes. Max wanted to go to Fatto a Mano, and had been given money by his mum towards the meal, so John went along with that plan. He decided to have an aubergine starter dish and an arugula and Parmesan salad. Max had a Diabolo pizza. They walked the long way, via the park and the seafront, so got some exercise in.
I started to feel a bit ambivalent about G's visit tomorrow, as I felt so knackered, and I know she will be, as she's up in London today at the theatre. I definitely did not feel like going out. So I WhatsApped her to postpone it until next week. I felt we were both doing it because we said we would. I certainly had no enthusiasm. We have fixed on next Tuesday, after my physio. I felt proud of myself for making that decision.
Tracey - Are you still waiting for news?
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -

Flea … even though I read that your son was taking his drivers test … you scared the pants off me with the words “my son passed.” I most decidedly spend too much time in my mom’s nursing home. Congratulations to your son.

Barbie - so glad your neighbor is willing to help with the long drive for Jake. I don't blame you for not wanting to tackle the drives farther than town, I feel the same way. Glad to hear your chimney and woodstove/woodpile will be ready to go. Fall will be on us soon.
Flea - wow, your youngest got his driver's license and will be off to college. Seems like your boys grew up fast.
Carol - neat that you'll be able to drive yourself to PT. Great feeling to get some of your freedom back I'll bet.
Well, my new cellphone is set up. Finally. Took a couple of calls to the cell company - Googoo got things twisted up so I wasn't able to log in with my password like I normally do. The phone's customer service rep was even stumped for a few minutes, but figured it out after accessing both my old and new phone. I think I had to sign over the deed to the farm and my first born, but got the wretched thing to work. Just to be able to read email and messenger - no fancy stuff.

Oh no, Beth! I can see why you would think that. I should have chosen my words better

Did an hour of HIIT and then in the water. I’ve found that I go in the pool, do my own thing, then join the water aerobics class when it starts. I’m just in the water for an hour.
Barbie – I’ve asked a friend of mine in FL who is a real good artist if she would paint “that’s all folks” on a sign for me and she, of course, said she would. I didn’t have any doubt. Glad you liked him.
Took some of my exercise stuff down to Play It Again Sports. Didn’t get as much as I’d hoped, but I’ll live with it rather than having it sit around the house doing nothing.
Heather – hope you had a great time at the bbq. Yea for showers
Rita – I’m always looking for different breakfast items. I never thought of having quinoa. Sometimes I have soup, even chicken. What are some of the other “different” food items you have for breakfast?
Went to the MD about my “callous” on my foot. Seems that the last time I was there, they modified the wrong insert. To be fair, it did say “R” on it so the guy assumed it was for the right foot, only it was for the left foot. So he put it on the right one (didn’t bother to take the one for the left foot off since it wasn’t hurting anything) and I have to go back in 2 weeks to see how it’s healing. Hopefully, it will
Walked to Food Lion to get Doritos that were on sale for Vince and another bag of marshmallows. I’ll probably make more of the rice krispie bars tomorrow since Vince has a dermatologist appt and it’s supposed to rain (supposed being the operative word)
To all quilters: Did you know that there’s a pen that you can mark on the fabric where you should put the line (say) and when you are done if you put a hot iron on it the pen marks disappear?
Packerfan – what an ordeal you’re going thru with the cancer. I think I can only send lots and lots of virtual hugs
Rebecca – you can send some of those cookies to NC. Athena can have the missed panda… I can’t use my oven right now, so that’s a good reason to send them….lol
barbie – so glad Jake is home. I just now mentioned to Vince that we need to start thinking of the weed killer and getting it put down. I hate the end of summer
Mia in the UK – welcome
No one makes anyone uncomfortable for any reason. We’re all there. As Lisa said “pain shared is pain halved”
Tracie – why don’t you get one of those pens then you can sew on the line and know that it’s straight? I think that’s probably what it’s for
How did we get such adorable grands?????? Love all the pics
Flea – yea for your son and what a relief for you. I, too, thought the worst at first!
Heather – Please, please, please take it easy and let your knee heal. I know how badly you want to get back to normalcy, but if you do too much too soon, it’ll hurt you in the end.
Pip – you’re in good company, I missed whatever it was that Lisa said that she thought offended Carol.
Need to take a shower and then probably spend time with the kitties.

Heather - I have decided that I will call them tomorrow if I don’t hear anything today. Yesterday was the first day back after a long weekend and if their payroll is the same as my previous job would have been a payroll submission day. It also may have taken her time yesterday after completing my reference at end of day on Friday to write an offer letter yesterday or this morning. I really agree though that it’s been long enough after today. Tomorrow will be one month since they spoke to me the first time.
Can you tell I’ve talked myself down a bit overnight? 😂
You were probably played out from all of your activities yesterday.
I still haven’t heard anything. I had someone at ceramics tonight offer to send my resume to someone that might help get me a job somewhere else though. It’s a call centre from home thing though and I’m not sure I’m interested in that.
What a progressive day you had yesterday! I bet it felt wonderful to do all of those things, did it wear you out for today or are you still ready to go?
Rosemarie - your retreat sounds amazing. I understand the meditative state and grief not mixing well. I have a very hard time shutting my brain off so that would make me think more than I wanted
Lanette - I keep thinking mine or Rodger’s Dad’s should help us with the lottery numbers as they both played every week, nothing so far though.
I hope your DH comes through for you, without you being delirious though. A nice dream would be nice.
I find anything that requires my Google or Microsoft password a total pain. It always is such a miserable experience.
Annie - It’s nice that your cousin took your Dad and you were able to get some errands taken care of.
Your dad must be wanting to feel useful if he wants a job.
Barbie - it’s good that you have neighbours and friends that can help with driving. I don’t know that we would, we’re some of the youngest around our neighbourhood and DH has no friends.
Flea - I hope your son passes his test. Neither of our girls got their licence until they moved out. We lived in a city with transit so they didn’t feel they needed it.
Lisa - I have family that is at polar opposites of me and I just avoid those subjects with them.
Yesterday Lisa’s weather weasels called for rain all day so I didn’t take my table out to work on at all. Today they said sunshine all day so I took the whole table out and started working and it started raining on me. 🙄 Go figure! I did get one of the leaves down to the wood though.
I had ceramics tonight and finished a bank for Michaela for Christmas. She is very into the hippie style right now. She also advised me that her new favourite colour is cyan (turquoise to the rest of us peasants) and pink has fallen to second place.
I finished it and bought a mug to do for Rodger thinking it would take me a couple of weeks to do but it ended up being completed much faster than I expected so now I need to buy another piece next week too. 🤦🏻♀️ this wasn’t part of the plan.
Oh well.
Well tomorrow is Thursday we’ll see what the day brings.

Olympics - love watching the various sports.
Some years are really good for sports on TV - a whole series of cycling events + the Olympics!!
Pantry - most of the kitchens we've had here in Australia have pantries, including our new place. That's where most of our food goes. We don't have an immense amount of food in storage.
Friends - I'm not sure that it is important for everyone to have friends, particularly close friends. I think it depends a lot on where we sit on the introvert - extrovert scale. I've mentioned before that my husband is my best friend, and I like the freedom of having only the one best friend.
Dandelions are good for the bees ... so it's nice to see a lawn with dandelions. We leave them wherever they want to grow.
Waiting to hear about a job ... is normal here. It can be up to 6 months from application to announcement. So I apply ... and then I carry on with life as normal. Then sometime in the future I finally hear something.
Vision - spent the past week in my long distance trifocal progressive lenses. I usually just wear these for driving and cycling.
Normally, I wear my desk glasses which are shorter distance trifocal progressive lenses. When I wear them, my computer screen is clear, but distances are a bit blurry.
It's a relief for my eyes to wear the long distance glasses ... or no glasses at all.
Sleep - sleep as long as you want whenever you want. Unless you have to be up for a particular reason. I have to be up for work during the week, but if I didn't I'd sleep all or most of the morning. I am not keen on naps and prefer to sleep 9+ hours all in one hit (except for getting up to use the toilet) whenever I can, which is usually on weekends.
One-ingredient foods - I eat a lot of vegetables and fruit.

Machka: It’s great to see you posting again. Hope you are settling in to your new home.
Barbie: Glad to know that Jake is back home. Sending positive vibes as you navigate the changes in your life.
Heather: 🥰 all the firsts.
Tracie, Flea, and others: Share as much as you need to. We have broad shoulders 😂
I love that this group is here for us to share the ups and downs of life. I think of us as a sisterhood, where we find solace, advice, and acceptance as and when we need it. We don’t have to agree with everything written by others. We can just agree to disagree, and scroll on by.
I got a call to say my new glasses are ready. Will make an appointment to have them fitted asap.
Virtual (((hugs))) held extra long and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Osteopenia - I had a DEXA scan a few months ago, and I also have osteopenia in my spine.
The specialist who reviewed it didn't consider it much of a concern because it isn't so bad to be consider osteoporosis. She encouraged me to continue walking and doing weight-bearing exercise and some resistance training.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK499878/
"Osteopenia is a clinical term used to describe a decrease in bone mineral density (BMD) below normal reference values, yet not low enough to meet the diagnostic criteria to be considered osteoporotic[1]. BMD is diagnosed via dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) bone scans."
Further on ... Waiting to hear about a job ... in the past few years, I've been waiting on information about a job much/most of the time! I've had 4 jobs in the past 3 years and have lost count of how many I've applied for!! In fact, I am currently waiting, but in this case, I don't mind if they drag it out a bit.
The reason for the long, long waits here is that it takes a long time to choose an interview panel, then to go through 40-odd applications and narrow the field to 2-5 applicants. Once the interviews are finished and the discussions have taken place, and someone has been chosen, then there are the reference checks. Finally the approval for the chosen one needs to go up several levels, and it can sit at a level for weeks if the person is busy or away. Then it passes back down the ladder again. And if I negotiate (which I do), approvals for that need to go up and down the ladder too.
It was 3 months from the time I was first alerted to my current position before I started.
Eating at someone's house vs eating at a restaurant - I prefer the restaurant. I'm often too picky to enjoy eating something someone has prepared for me, and prefer to make selections from a menu.
Driving - I do all the driving for my husband and me. He cannot drive because of his brain injury and resulting epilepsy. I was really nervous at first because it had been 10 years since I had driven, but I'm OK now.
Pudendal Neuralgia - Feet feeling odd? Tingling? Painful? Itchy? Burning? Numb? Google Pudendal Neuralgia
Eating Less Meat? - Well done! Me too. Lots of vegetarian meals lately. But I'm thinking about writing an article for my website entitled something like "How to Feed a Vegetarian Like Everyone Else at the Table".

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Rita glad DH is healing.
Lisa thanks for the hugs! And yes it is so hard when someone close has a different world view.
Allie Debbie is bringing us rain too. I need to go to the mailbox, but I keep hoping I can find a dry minute.
Flea Yay for your son's driving license!
Carol Yay for driving again!
Lanette Yay for the new cell phone!
Michele hope this orthotic helps your foot.
Tracey we are anxiously waiting with you!
Machka good to see you back!
Well Dad wrote thank yous yesterday, so the bulk of that is done. Yay! Still plenty of little chores to do.
Dad is starting a new medicine Memantine. I have to catch him when he gets up and make sure he takes exactly one pill. Hope he tolerates it well because it ought to give him an extra six months of time at this level of confusion before it gets worse.
Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!
