Heather: Glad your getting back to the regular Activities of Daily Living!
My thoughts and prayers to others. I will post more when I get home! Well it is 3:10 am and I am dressed and showered. This is not good! There is no comfortable chair in my room to listen to an audible book and snooze so I will go out to the lobby and do this. This is a safe environment. However I don't feel the least bit tired. I am ready to start the day!
The yoga session on Monday was really meditative and the mat work was really more than restorative Yoga in my mind. I was struggling not to sleep! I love the instructor. She is calm and thoughtful and has a wonderful tone to her voice. But it is difficult to spend 4 or 5 hours in a meditative state when you still are handling grief. So I took yesterday off and really enjoyed the retreat center. Today I am going to go into a yoga studio in Asheville in search of a little more active yoga experience. I have the instructor's blessing to do this!
I really realized over the past few days how little I eat meat. The regular breakfast does not offer yogurt so I have been loading up on eggs! I am getting plenty of veggies but feel way behind on protein! And I drink ice coffee every morning but of course here it is all ice tea! I really have become set in my ways!
This yoga group and even the pottery group and CS Lewis group are women. There is a man here or there. I noticed a few men each sitting alone on the portico yesterday morning. They were from a different conference entirely. Yet I noticed I really wanted to go sit among them. They were much younger then me! I was surprised at myself for taking such an interest in them!

Barbie - so glad to hear Jake is home! Good to have the household back to normal.
Flea - At least you were able to thin out your collection and get things tossed in the dumpster.

Michele - I love seeing your creations from the ceramics studio, this has to be so satisfying for you. You are such an energizer bunny.
Kylia - have a great time visiting your sis. Hope you have great weather to zoom down in the Miata! Blast some of your favorite tunes, lol.
Heather - congrats on accomplishing so many "firsts". Nice you were able to get out and spend time with the family.
Rita - glad your DH finally went to the doctor, hope the antibiotics get him cleared up. Was he running a fever too?
About upping protein: My local grocery store, Safeway (might be a west coast chain, I think they are called Albertsons in some areas and maybe Kroger too? Not sure) has deal going on, 4 packages of meat for $19.99. Most of these meats are more expensive if packages are purchased singularly. Now, the meat already has flavorings/spices (some I'm not real fond of, but OK) - I've gotten stew beef, chicken breast chunks, pre-formed sirloin burgers. It's mix and match. I really prefer to buy grass fed or organic IF they have it available and it's not too much of a budget breaker. But a small beef roast can be nearly $20 (not even grass fed! ACK!), and will only make a few meals, so this $19.99 four package special is thriftier.
Orthotics: I took my new orthotics to back Joe the Orthotics guy yesterday to get them tweaked. Turns out, I have been able to wear them for several hours without any problem - the initial pain when I first got them has greatly diminished. I was embarrassed, he was very nice and kind about it. We figured that my metatarsalgia must have been flaring at that time, joints a bit swollen, and now it's gotten better. Other than my early morning sunrise stroll, no more pavement walking for me. Nearly 2 years ago, when I had covid, I remember hearing my then recently-passed DH tell me, plain as day, to stop that intense pavement walking because I was going to injure myself. He was right, wasn't he?
( I know I keep repeating this story every few months - I'm hoping the next time I'm delirious he'll tell me some winning lottery numbers! 
)
Another short heatwave is coming, 90f+ for a couple days then back to the mid 70's next week. The Perseids meteor showers peak on August 12 and 13, I'm hoping for clear skies if I'm up early enough to catch them.
Got a new cellphone so today I'll be on the phone getting my number ported over from the old one and maybe changing the plan. The old one wasn't keeping up with new technology.
I've been up since 2, so a heart-healthy nap or two is on the agenda for today.

I had a unusual day yesterday. My cousin took my Dad to a funeral. We found out about it about two hours beforehand. Then I bought groceries and went to the dentist. I was afraid dad would make it home before me, but nope. So it all worked out
Dad was tired and emotional all afternoon. He kept looking for his car keys, and we had the conversation about him not driving anymore about three times.
He also said he felt useless like he should have a job.
And he thought he wore someone else's jacket home from the funeral. He found an opera ticket in the pocket. Then he put the jacket back in our closet and promptly forgot which one it was. Now all three dark jackets are on the couch and they all have his name in them. So it must have been his jacket after all. What a mess. Now I remember he went to the opera.

Jake can't drive for at least six months. The cardiologist said that his heart was unstable and could he have another incident which would be deadly to him and others if he were driving. I'm OK in town but for longer drives he'll need to have someone else take him. He has a follow up appointment with the cardiac team on Monday and has arranged for our next door neighbor to drive him. Hugs to everyone with troubles, I am too self involved right now to address everyone individually but I am thinking of you and admiring your courage. Barbie 10 -
Rosemarie ~ It seems that you are coming out of a deep state of grief and maybe are ready to move on with life. That is to be admired!
Annie ~ Hugs as you continue to navigate life with you father's mental deterioration. You are doing a great job.
I got the staples out of my knee yesterday and was told I could drive as long as I wasn't taking narcotics. I have only been taking naproxen and X-strength tylenol so hope I can drive myself to physical therapy tomorrow. I hate that my DH has been having to drive me everywhere for over two weeks. And, there is no other means of transportation. Anyway, I am able to walk with my cane but must say my knee itself has been aching badly this AM.

Thanks for the sympathy about decluttering. I should clarify that the three dumpsters were hubby's mess. Things he let me get rid of. Legitimate trash. I tend toward minimalism, though not as much as Rebecca, though I can dream! My part was just organizing and cleaning.
I feel better this morning and looking at his mess in a new light makes it more manageable. We've got one more week with the dumpster,so here's hoping to filling it! I love throwing things away or giving the useful things to people who might use them. I did unload sacks of clothes that I will never wear.
Youngest takes his drive test this morning in two hours. I am going to walk at Riverside Park in Salem while he is testing. We have the car for him already, an EV Fiat which he loves to drive and fits his cello, so if we can get this license taken care of, he can drive himself to his activities next year. One step closer to independence! We also have our first official college visit on Friday, at George Fox. He picked two privates and two state schools to consider. All in Oregon.

Hello, my chickens!
Finally stopped futzing with the quilt from heck and it is in the washer on gentle cycle for its first wash. 🥵 Trying not to think about it. I've constructed it well, and it will survive just fine.
Still waiting on an address for my niece to get the quilt sent. Two phone calls to my sis so far regarding getting that address... which wandered off into more ouchy territory. I will make no political or religious reference, but even though it's neither one of those things (to me) I've put it in a spoiler just in case someone else might believe other than I do, and their belief grows out of their political or religious bent.--
My sister believes the Earth is flat. I do not. She surprised me while we were talking, and I just fell headlong into a short discussion on one of the extensive number of areas where we disagree.
Mostly I just try to love her. Most of the time, that's sufficient. Occasionally, I cuss.
Sometimes I wonder if the love I feel for her can survive the distance between us in how we look at the world and other people. It can be exhausting, walking that tightrope between love and dismay.
The only upside is that it even supersedes our incredibly different political viewpoints. I'm sure it's easy to believe that we think quite differently on that side of things, as well. Radically differently. Polarization would be the word, but she doesn't believe in the poles so... there's that. There is no emoji for how I feel about all this.

Barbie - Glad your Jake is home and that there are people who can assist with transport. Did the kids make up to see him yet? I know it's hard to have your lovely, peaceful life discombobulated.
Flea - Like Heather said of Tracie, I've been grateful to have your posts on the part of your journey that you're willing to share with us. My heart just soared the day you told us you were clear, and I really appreciate that you've let us know what was happening all along.
Am going to run down to Aldi real quick to check to see if they still have one of the fans left that I like so much. If not, no biggie. It will get me out of the house while the quilt's in the dryer. And I need to get a mailing box for it, too.

Wow! So much health issues happening in this group recently! I’m proud of everyone here who has had cancer and beat it back into remission! Awesomeness!! My DH is taking his meds as ordered, still having trouble hearing but not as bad as before yesterday. He did not have a fever or headaches, just the hearing loss. That’s why he waited almost a month to go to the doctors. At least he finally agreed and is on the way to healing.
My health has been good lately, I’m glad of that. The food changes I hope will show up in good bloodwork next month. Seeing both my Nephrologist and my PC so 2 blood draws for different things, the same week!!
Dinner yesterday was tuna tomato sauce over spaghetti, and a salad. Parmesan sprinkled on top. Had 1/2 an apple for dessert.

Thank you, Lisa. I am so very grateful for everything. Just finished a lovely four mile walk through the nature conservatory by the river. Such a beautiful morning and lots of people out enjoying it. I have to go to the prison this afternoon then hoping to talk someone into kayaking with me on the river either tonight or tomorrow morning.
Oh, and hugs about your sister, Lisa. That is really hard.

Eli is 11 months old! Miss this cutie!
Well on day 3 of exercising with husband 4 times a week at the gym. This morning, all I wanted to do was sleep. Nothing like live doing weights or walking quickly on the treadmill, using a wee bit of anger as motivation. Its just a small part of my day.
Today is tacos and burritos night. I hope to wait and not eat, until I fix that for dinner. Distraction will be high on my list today!

It's nearly 80 degrees here today but some guys are delivering firewood. On Monday the chimney sweeps came to make sure the chimney and wood stove are in good condition. It's hard to believe we're going to need those things before long. Barbie 4

My son passed! He will have his driver's license early next week. (We are waiting because he took the test through the driver's training program he has been participating in, so they need to complete the paperwork for DMV.) He was very happy! And so am I!
