Good choice Margaret. I'm like you. Organised. And time sensitive. My friends and family know me very well.
The Jerk Chicken etc was absolutely fantastic. DH loved it. Next time I will blend double quantities and feeze half. Definitely on our rota
Using the prepared rice and peas made it feasible. It wasn't too hot.

Heather - Your flowers are beautiful, and the vase is part of that beauty. I've had to accept the paradox that people could make utterly beautiful things with the same hands and minds and hearts that did utterly despisable actions in the rest of their lives. Humanity is a series of paradoxes, in the end.
Easy day - Got up after six hours of sleep, but it apparently wasn't enough, so I staggered back into the bedroom about 9 a.m., and got another couple hours. Feel less muzzy now, for sure. Did get a lot done on the current project, which is, of course yet another squirrel. 🐿️😹Learning a lot, but need to finish what I've begun this morning.
Kicked-up chicken and baked potatoes for dinner. Easy, high nutrition with little effort. I only get through half the potato, but I can hold half of it for tomorrow's breakfast. Yum.
Tiny little organ recital:Messaged back and forth with my cardiologist, as the edema is getting worse again, and the fluid weight seems to be coming back on... They sent another booster diuretic for a five-day span, but asked that first I go back to the compression socks again.
They think it's a circulation issue as I'm not having blood pressure issues (what they called pumping issues). Thank goodness for that small flavor, and I'm grateful. So... this is why I do not get rid of health items. Back in my colorful socks during the days again. Hope they're right. It would be lovely if that's the fix...
Later, babies,
Love y'all,

When I went downstairs for lunch, I did remember to ask him directly to help me to empty the large vases of the old, huge bunches, and he was very happy to do so. My new flowers look lovely, in a grey ceramic vase my father made.
I have prepared Jerk Chicken for dinner. It's marinating. I didn’t use Scotch Bonnet chillies, as John can't eat really hot food, and I'm hoping that the very mild chilli I used won't be too hot for him. Blending up the paste was a lot of work, as it was too thick to blend in the liquidiser easily. But it's done and we shall see. I have a microwavable packet of Rice and Peas to go with it, which is what gave me the idea. Asparagus for a vegetable.
I've only made it once before, for a guest lunch, and I made the Rice and Peas from scratch. (The peas, for anyone who doesn't know, are red kidney beans. All cooked in coconut milk)

Your feast sounds yummy. The photo of your fathers vase is beautiful.💖
I am boiling potatoes for a meal of kielbasa sausage, potatoes, cabbage. I am also adding onions and white mushrooms in the chicken broth I will cook the cabbage and sausage. It will be a couple of meals there.

Debbie - sorry about Miso. So hard to lose those fur babies. I wonder if your old one has thyroid problems. Our old one does and even on medication she wants to eat all the time but doesn't gain weight.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA
we are pretty sure the momma cat has some type of cancer plus the fact that she is around 15yrs old(she hung around outside for years before we brought her in. We brought her kittens in 8 yrs ago and she was outside quite a while before she had them). All she does is eat(A LOT-almost constant if she has her way. She is very demanding), drink, sleep, pee and poop(a LOT). DH was sure she would only last a year or two inside. Inside 5 yrs so far. I am tired of cleaning up her mess but will deal with it(too hard for dh to squat to clean it up. Most of the time it is just on the pads that I either toss or wash- some days she moves them to the side and poops on the floor- annoying but dealing with it for now. My guess is she weighs less than 5 lbs. She has never been a very big cat.
Just finished with the weekly flea baths for the kittens. I switch back and forth. This week was actual flea shampoo, next week will be Dawn original dish soap. Need to get these under control. Next will be to spray the peppermint oil spray on the carpets. Dh is out cleaning the catio(vacuuming it now) then will spray and or dust with diatamactios (??)earth again. We sprayed the front and back lawns last week. Will do it again this evening.
Didn't get my pico de gallo made yesterday evening. Too tired. Will get that done soon.
All these from one plant- the plant is in a little 10gal pot(all my other ones are in 15gal or in raised beds) and this one is doing the best. It is still loaded with more tomatoes that aren't ready yet.
Helping dh sort through Care.com for some help for his mom- found one I would pick. He will check it out and then contact the one he likes the best.
We found out that each month they have to pay $700 towards her care(meds, care, supplies) and then the Vets will give her $1400 towards more care/supplies. Need to get it set up. Dh was excited until he found out the agency that is supposed to help him set it up, isn't actually connected to the Vets so he has some serious questions before giving them all her personal information.4 -

Hi My name is Sue from Buffalo NY. It's so nice to see women my age having the same struggles. I work in a dept where I am old enough to be my co-workers mother. I have decided to once again try to loose weight. I have also ruffled some feathers at work by applying for a different position. I am just ready for a change. So fingers crossed I am considered for the position. Going to get back into logging my food to gain some control.9

Afternoon / evening ladies.. well this morning got Doris to the Dr and praise be the laser worked and the pressure in her eye went from 45 to 25 so she is back on track and I went in with her and opened my mouth and asked if she could switch to this Dr.she wanted to,but was afraid to say anything.
Ol Allie spoke right up and its all arranged.. she was happy as a clam in sand.. didnt have to take Sean anywhere today.
But will be taking him out for breakfast and for a haircut with me tomorrow. That will be his birthday present, his birthday is next week he will be 60. Jean called him and started in on him,I told him by text not to get riled up and calmly tell her that you would talk to her when she calmed down and that would be tomorrow. I honestly think she might have early onset alzhimers because she could be sundowning..who knows.. I told Sean that Doris's retina surgery is September 26th and his court date is the 25th and he said whatever you do don't tell Jean..because she will flip out..
Jean has been bad mouthing me all along and yes it was her mother i was taking care of.
After dropping Doris off I came home and took a 4 hr nap.because I was up at the buttcrack of dawn lol
And Tracy has asked me to watch the new little one 3 days a week starting in January, I said I would do my best.. and thats all I could do.5 -
Heather, those flowers are lovely. I love flowers; they brighten me up. I hate that you didn't get your Dim-Sum. In my 20s, I purchased a shopping cart because, in Chicago, it is hard to get a good parking space. So I would take it with me to shop for groceries at the market and if I found other goods along the way. Thirty years later, it is still in excellent condition for my move to Chicago. Here in Mississippi, I used it for my kid's parties when I was room mom, and then I would be the party planner for New Year's Eve for the kids and staff at the hospital. I brought in cases of sparkling apple cider and grape juice. I had decor and appetizers. That shopping cart came in handy. Maybe you should get one, and it will hold everything. I have a cart from Sam's Club, too. Currently, it is holding my bags of potting soil. That works, too. Jerk Chicken sounds delicious.
Lisa, I am so jealous that you got your floors done. Today, I dropped Rose off at 7:30 a.m. at Day Camp. I was in time for the AC people to come. They changed my filter and said the problem with my AC would be $760.00. I am so sad about that. So they will fix it on the 3rd of September. My warranty ran out last month. We replaced the HVAC system and machines five years ago for $22,000.00. They even set my house on fire while doing so. We had to live in a hotel for a month. It is hot upstairs, but I have a great mattress, so Rose and I will sleep downstairs on the couch while waiting. It's been a rough week with
this. I didn't get to swim today due to a chemical imbalance with the pool. I am glad that I checked my email before driving to the gym.
Machka, be careful driving in those high winds. It sounds terrifying. I'm praying for you and your family.
Allie, I am glad you are staying away from your toxic SIL. Enjoy Miles; he is so cute! I love seeing his pic.
Annie—My neighbor is fine now, but her son works an hour away, and I can tell how stressed he was. His mom wants me to come and visit with her sometimes. They have three pugs and a red dog. Their water dish was empty, but she didn't want me to refill it because the pugs bite. I will take a cool shower and try to enjoy my book. I should exercise, but I will try tomorrow. I am going to focus on sleeping.
I haven't been in my boot for a week, and there is some soreness, but otherwise, I am fine. My headaches haven't been bad. I take my meds and Plant Guru stuff and am better. It was great seeing my friends last night. My friend Bonnie wants to scrapbook, but we have no time. We used to do it when our kids were in school. Now, they are adults, and we can not find the time. It is nice to hear what our kids are doing.
Well, I'd better go. Rose is hot up here, and I will jump in the shower. Have a good night, everyone.
XO,
Monique

John has someone coming to estimate for the garden, fallen branch, clean up, this morning. We also want them to trim the huge bay tree and take down the conifer outside my window. That must have been a small Christmas tree, once upon a time! Now it's the size of the one at the Ritz!
I have the bathroom floor person coming to estimate after lunch.
Just to be clear, it's cushioned vinyl I'm having, but with a light oak herringbone print. I'm cheap! I had something similar in my previous house bathroom, and you couldn't tell at first glance that it wasn't wood. I will be so glad to get the tatty, paint-splattered, moth eaten, twenty years old carpet out.
My DSIL, who stays up there when she comes to visit, sweetly said she hadn't noticed. It's the same carpet as the bedroom. Can't afford to replace that yet. I keep setting off moth bombs.
I hope Vicki is OK. And Tina.

Hi Sue, welcome to the group. I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and decided to get on this morning. It is now 4:27 a.m., and I will try to go back to sleep upstairs because that couch is killing my back downstairs, and a red wasp is flying around. Sue, I hope you get the position that you want. I, too, have co-workers born four days before my son. So, I get what you are saying.
Allie, wow, you are juggling a lot. I hope Jean will appreciate that.
Lisa, ensure you stay near a bathroom and prop your feet up.
I am going back to bed in my room as long as the temperature is not in the nineties.

Can you see the low pressure system and big wind?
It's relatively calm just now.

Good morning all:
Glad I got a few minutes to read and catch up.
Tracey-good to hear job is going well.
Allie-you always seem to have a full plate-try not to be too stressed.
Debbie-do you think as some of the cats pass you will cut back? They sound like a lot of work and expense!
Rori-prayers for your nephew and others-the fires seem to be very bad the last few years.
Rebecca-the kids do grow so fast! Love Athena's posing-makes her seem much older!
Margaret-I understand your frustration with the waiting!
Meet with new PA today (actually met her for sinus issue two weeks ago, this is for annual). They take more of a functional medicine approach so will be interesting to see what they have to say. Supposed to cost a bit less with my insurance.
Need to get up and moving. Hope everyone has a good day and the trials and tribulations you are facing don't overwhelm.

Hi, Sue in NY - welcome! We're glad you're here. A number of the ladies on this forum are still in the workforce, and you'll find more support here than you can shake a stick at! A lot of us are retired, as well. All of us are trying to find or maintain our physical, mental and social health, and share much of our lives along the way.

Machka - Wow - Yes, can see tiny little Tasmania (in comparison) and it looks like more windy days are headed right down your neck. Not fun... The last of winter weather before you head into spring? Or early spring weather?
Allie - Please be careful. You know Sean best, but from this viewpoint, he doesn't seem to have YOUR best interests in mind. Understandably in the middle of his divorce, but just remember you have to take care of Allie. So glad your friend Doris is doing well.
Monique - We had the choice of dropping that kind of money on a new HVAC system for our house or putting in window A/Cs. They more than paid for themselves in the first year, and are still saving us tons of money. The heating part of the old system still works, but is gas based, so it doesn't drive our bills up nearly as bad. I know it's too late now, but a thought for the future maybe.
Rebecca - Love the pics of Athena - impossible that she's already in kindergarden. Just amazing to watch her grow!
Being good, moving, and then feet up as much as I can. Spent the evening crocheting with my feet up on my computer table, above heart height. Starting the day in the support socks. There are worse prescriptions! Got to try again on the Epley thing - the dizziness and vertigo was dogging me again yesterday evening. Weird when it feels like your eyeballs are bouncing around inside your eye socket all willy-nilly. 👀🤪

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Margaret I like your political safe zones! And DrewB is a cutie!
Rebecca Yay for the NSVs!
Rita you are being so patient with Brownie!
Heather gorgeous flowers both rose and chrysanthemum!
Debbie good luck with your MIL. I looked at care.com but went with someone I already knew. Trust is so important.
Sue from Buffalo Welcome!
Allie wishing you strength to look out for yourself between Sean and Jean and Tracy all demanding.
Monique sorry about your a/c!
Ginny hello!
Machka that looks like a big storm! Stay safe.
Lisa your health journey is such a trial. I'm proud of you for continuing to work on it.
Lunch with my Dad's friend was excellent, and the guy even said he would help dad get free of a church thing, that I have been worried about. My dad is a trustee for a particular church account and with his Alzheimer's, that needs to change.
Our power is out right now, and I am supposed to have a video medical appointment in 45 minutes. Hoping it will turn out okay.
I've got errands to do, but Thursday is my busy day. After this appointment, I take Dad to the senior center, then later is horseback riding, which will wear me out.
Have a great day today! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Tasmania is in the path of the Roaring 40s and they do blow strongest in the spring.
However, now and then a whole collection of low pressure systems will gather and create conditions very similar to a hurricane - very strong wind, rain, storm surges. We usually have a blast of heat - several days with above average temps for winter and high humidity, and then suddenly the temperature drops right off and we freeze.
Last night a record breaking wave 18 metre (59 foot) wave hit the west coast of Tasmania as part of a storm surge, I presume.
Exciting, but a little scary at the same time.
I thought it was windy when I lived in Manitoba, but Manitoba has nothing on Tasmania!!

Yes, she has always been quite the sweet ham. I think her momma helped too with posing when she was younger, so now she just knows all the cute ones. These ones from a beach trip, priceless.
I swear every photo shows movement you know?😁. Never is she just standing and being un-Athena-ish.😂

Getting frustrated with my weight. Been on a plateau all month it seems. I just need to be patient and continue on the path…. It will break eventually. ‘Sigh’ I have to remember that I’m changing my eating style, not dieting and accept that my body may want to stay where it is, not where I want it to be. Oh, well, not giving up! not surrendering!! Lol
Here is yesterday’s dinner. It was an interesting take on salmon. The sauce was made from chopped tomatoes but it tasted like DH used sun dried tomatoes. We don’t have any so I don’t know where the flavor came from, but it was delicious!
Orange for dessert, 1/2 plum, cheesecake (from DH’s birthday), 1/2 apple in a 1/2 whole wheat pita with peanut butter for supper and snacks. Breakfast yesterday and today was muesli (1/4 cup), 3/4 cup of strawberry Greek yogurt and 1/2 banana.

Good morning ladies!
It's a great morning. Got my dawn walk in. Sciatica on the run - even after I bounced around on the mower for an hour yesterday. Maybe that's what it needed. Also took a pre-emptive ibuprofen before bed last night, and have incorporated a new sciatica stretch. Facebook reel:

And while I'm at it, I ran across a few physical therapists with simple exercises for seniors. Sometimes I want to do something other than just walk around for a few minutes after I've been sitting for a while. More Facebook reels:

Allie - Doris was so lucky to have you as an advocate in switching doctors and accompanying her to medical appointments And she's lucky to have you as a friend - you take such good care of her. Happy Birthday to Sean - it certainly sounds like Jean is having some mental stuff going on. It will be good for him to spend a little time with you.
Rita - that salmon looks terrific! I run out of ideas and can always depend on your (and your DH) to come up with good recipes. Do you have any container gardening going on this year? Tomatoes? I think you said earlier in the summer things weren't doing well?
Back later. Busy busy morning so far and now will get laundry on the line. Nice breezy, sunny drying weather.

I empathize with you on your vertigo as I have had it many times.😥💖. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with it. Mine was mostly lying down though. It was a nightly thing, and my neck and eyes would be so achy during the day. Taking hot showers made my head feel better. Sometimes its just air pressure of weather, and my ears, or a sinus cold coming on. I know when my neck starts to ache that particular way its coming. I tend to get into bed extra carefully, like I am entering an area with nitro glycerine!

Today's exercise went splendidly! This morning I automatically woke up at 6:23 am before husband would normally wake me up at 6:30 am. My body is acclimating.👍🏼💖
Today's shopping run went well too. I did not get any sugary candy, cookies, those Nonnies that you dip in coffee (mmmm), or chips. I did get 2 yogurts, and whipped cream cheese to put on bagel sandwiches with cheddar cheese, turkey, tomato, and sprouts.
I bought ingredients to make a nice potato salad that has red onion, hard boiled eggs, celery, baby potatoes, with a nice dressing. I can eat that when opening my eating window, and then my main meal a bit later with husband.
I bought some cocktail sauce to have with some huge jumbo shrimp I have. They are cooked and deveined so just thaw and eat.💖
Tomorrow is husband's birthday, so making him some keto chocolate cupcakes with sugar free frosting (in a tub). Dinner will be spaghetti with ciabottia bread and I will have a salad with my spaghetti. He was like, nah I have had my salad for the week. He's gonna be 64 crazy to think. Other than that not doing much more. Its a rest day, no exercising, well maybe some hugging and smooching but hey we do that most every day.😁
Enjoy the weekend ladies!
