    SW RND 272—162.8

9/13 163.6 This uptick was not because of food, but I’m not sure where it did come from. Oh, the games our bodies play when we are trying to lose weight!
9/14 163.8 Not much exercise because our water heater was out and had to be replaced.
9/15 163.6 Got in a good, sweaty walk to the beach yesterday to offset some vacation foods. Hot water now, so showers aren’t painful!
9/16 163.8 Another wonderful walk yesterday out to the beach, down the beach, and back. Expected a drop this morning, but in light of the fact that all meals are prepared in restaurants while we are here, I’ll take a holding pattern.Trying to push proteins and water to offset some of the salt and higher carbs. We fly home tomorrow. But I’ll miss the great place we have to walk here.
9/17 163.8 We fly home today, so I’m hoping I can get unstuck once I get home. It’s been weird to have been on such a plateau while here in FL. I’ve walked a ton, but guess the vacation food has offset that even though I’ve been pretty careful.
9/18. 163.2 Headed back down a bit this morning! Yay! Going to push water and protein again today and get back in the swing of things. Got in a walk after flying home yesterday plus some walking at the airport while waiting for the plane. I am doing better with water lately, so will continue to work on that to see if I can push through this plateau I’ve been on for a couple rounds now. Slowly adding in some beginner weight training this week, too. Did one session already this morning, so it's a start!
9/19 163.2 STILL!!! Ah, well, this is how it goes, isn’t it? Did some light strength training yesterday in addition to walking in the evening. Food was on track with over 100 g of protein. Sleep is really hard to come by these days. Up at 3:30 this morning much to my dismay. Don’t want to take Tylenol PM or anything though. Hoping I will get past this soon.
    9/20
    9/21
    9/22

I'm verbalizing goals here today for accountability:
    * At least 8000 steps each day, but hopefully over 10,000 at least 3 times a week.
    * Strength training 2-3 times this next week.
    * 90+ grams of protein each day.
    * Drink more water!

@Chapter_3 I just went into your spoilers and read your goals for September. There's lots to think about in there! So glad you mentioned that to @pezhed. I love the idea of your workout "snacks" of 10 minutes, 2-3 times a day, 5 times/week. I'm going to try to incorporate that as well. Thank you!

I'll be checking it out as well, though I may be sorting enough variables at the moment. But since @Chapter_3 has it in their spoilers, I can revisit when ready for more changes. Thanks for sharing with us. @UtMom81 for reminding me that I want to go look.

    👇🏻Sept Level Up (Down) Plan
    ***************************
I pledge to prioritize each of these #HSF choices EVERY DAY of Sept:

    1. P:E: Proteing greater than 1:1 vs. Energy g. [Pg > (Cg+Fg)] (and kcals = avg. maintenance).I will continue this nutrition plan. It is supposed to support muscle gain with fat loss while 🏋🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️ 🎾. I will continue to track NSVs/macros/ activities, etc. to learn about my body.
    2. 🙏📝📚🧐 - I will continue to pray, journal, research. This is my aspect of “leveling up” because I am nothing without my relationship w/Jesus Christ. I’ve also grown into loving/enjoying learning about my body & healthy aging. Replacing BAD habits w/ GOOD habits is a journey in itself. This practice helps me stay present /mindful of many decisions/ thoughts/ actions that impact not only nutrition, but improves self-talk & interactions w/others.
    3. 🏋🏼‍♀️this is my biggest challenge. I still don’t like it. Not one bit. I have some days that it clicks, but it’s a daily struggle. Living “fake it till I make it”… Faking my “identity”. My hope is that some 🏋️‍♀️version eventually becomes a healthy habit. I’m working on a minimum of 10-minute “🏋🏼‍♀️snacks” 2-3x per day, 5x per week. Gosh, how I wish someone, ANYONE would have told me in my earlier years that 🏋🏼‍♀️is the key to fat-loss / maintaining - NOT cardio. I was brainwashed.
    4. Healthy Aging - includes mobility, flexibility, balance and agility. While I do stretch every morning plus “stretch snacks”… I want to up this game… I will start to add “sprints” (which is NOW only fast jogging… 😂) and plyometrics (celebrating a 2” vertical jump) 😂. I read to “sprint” is vital as we age…..
    5. I have much “work” to do with family relationships. Won’t detail here, but it’s a challenge & my overall health will not flourish without this being acknowledged and improved. Mind, body & spirit are connected. I won’t be fully content until I reconcile this part of my life.
    6. Sleep- This is a big one. I’m usually fast asleep by 8:30-9PM. I can’t stay up later…. I love getting up early. I’m good with a 5AM wake up but I want to sleep soundly through the night. Will continue to prioritize this key component to health and well-being…
    7. Have fun… lighten up … & give myself permission to be spontaneous. (This is THE HARDEST)!!!!

    👇🏻Review since my 1st R231 7/31/23 NSVs/Journey Reflections
    ******************

    1. ✅HSF: Avg. close to 9k steps per day for 11+ mos. Not bad. It’s no longer a “daily goal” because it’s now a daily healthy habit - #HSF 👏🏻🤩
    2. ✅#HSF: 🙆‍♀️ Daily stretch greatly improving my attitude & confidence.
    3. ✅ #HSF 📝 🙏 everyday
    4. ✅#HSF: I play 🎾about 4-5x per week.
    5. ✅#HSF : Z2 💕avg 60 min/day
    6. ✅#HSF : zero to 15g of net carbs/ day
    7. ✅Clean P:E 115-130g Protein
    8. ✅#HSF Naturally IF 18/6. Eating window=noon to 6PM. (At least 5 days/wk)
    9. ✅#HSF 💦80oz daily
    10. ✅#HSF Alcohol limited to rare occasions.
    11. 💤 7 to 8 hours sleep per night is a goal. Sleep is still inconsistent the last few rounds…

Staying in the present moment is key to mental health and healthy choices.

Rotating 115g to 130g of protein per day is now a non-negotiable. In my dreams, I want to be 128- 130lbs #HSF … 😎 I want to be Healthy, Strong & Fit to live out “Chapter 3” enjoying a full range of mobility, flexibility & activities… !

I feel like I’m on one of those bouncy gyms!
Solid day w/ 14k steps. Will spend today in reflection, prayer and creating the determined mindset for #HSF. I will start to actively show myself some TLC. I 💯 know that when I’m off-kilter it’s related to my sleep patterns…. I’m tired. And when I’m tired, I lose pretty much all of my joy. Today will be a slow start but I’ll get with it! Let’s do this yall!

Wonderful day yesterday! My “Epiphany” gave me energy and direction.

My little bodybuilder 🏋️‍♀️emoji represents functional strength training… Not full traditional weight lifting, although I incorporate 10, 15 and 20 lb weights. I also focus on using my own body weight and calisthenics. Will fine-tune these exercises. I’m good with my current macros and PE ratio commitments although will lower fatg a bit - Looking forward!

My body truly needs to be dedicated to science. I had a perfect day yesterday I have no clue about this scale this morning. On the one hand Im pissed - on the other hand, totally flummoxed and oh geez…. What can I learn from this? I am learning about my body, and I still have no clue after an entire year!. The only thing I can think of is that I went to sleep much later than usual and ate 2oz of cheese around 8pm. Slept like 💩. I do know my body is super sensitive so let’s see what today brings! If I can gain 2 lbs+ in one day WITHOUT REASON maybe I can lose 2lbs+ in one day! 🤣

    Today: Bring it on!

⚖️ I sincerely have no idea why the scale fluctuates so much… I can only guess it’s my unique internal “processing.” The steadier my daily routine (no eating after 6pm and routine foods), the steadier the scale. Timing & Familiarity are key.

    SW RND 272: 135.0
GW RND 272: 133.5 (dare I set this goal? I think I can do it if I stay focused)
UGW: 125 and evaluate from there
Non-scale goals for round 272 (tracked for the prior day each morning):
    🏃🏻‍♀️(cardio) or 🏋🏻‍♀️ (lift) 7/10 days
    🚫 no alcohol 5/10 days
    📝 track 6/10 days
    ⏱️ intermittent fasting (16:8) 7/10 days

9/13 - 134.2 🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️ ⏱️ Set some extra goals for this round. Not starting too ambitious yet but these things should help me stay on track. I did drink yesterday and failed to track my intake. But I went for a run and lifted weights at least! I didn’t snack at least. Today I’ll just power walk the dogs, and my 3 year old asked me to e-bike him to school, so I did. That’s very light cardio but it’s more than I get while driving!

9/14 - 132.8 🏃🏻‍♀️⏱️ Didn’t make many of my non-scale goals. I’ve always been a procrastinator 😅 My loss today is at least partially dehydration due to alcohol. I drank more than I’d planned when a friend popped by after dinner. Ugh. Not sure what activity will be today but I’m hoping to squeeze something in around kid activities!

9/15 - 134.8 📝 Phew, so many calories at dinner at our friends’ house. Just realized I forgot to track the wine, and I’m already at 1100 calories for dinner alone 🫣 I didn’t get a workout in yesterday beyond ebiking the kids around. Today we’ll go on a family hike. It won’t be much but I’ll count it.

9/16 - 134.8 📝🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️🚫⏱️ First day I’ve hit all of my non-scale goals! I stayed baaarely within calories but I felt like I was back on track with my goals. DH is definitely a bad influence but I can overcome his attempts to derail me, haha. What I can’t comprehend is his saying he’s overweight and he needs to fix it and he knows it’s his eating, but he carries on without making a change. It’s clear to me that he sometimes feels offended when I make a different eating choice from him but I wish he would channel that energy differently. It isn’t going to get easier as we age. Each time I restart it gets harder. Anyway I’ll just try to keep progressing toward my goal and maybe he’ll get inspired. He can’t do it if he doesn’t genuinely want to. Today I’m going to take the dogs on a walk/run for my activity. I already know I’m making instant pot chicken adobo for dinner so I can plan my lunch accordingly.

9/17 - 133.2 📝🏃🏻‍♀️🚫⏱️ Yesterday was a very good day. I had a bowl of ice cream after dinner that wasn’t planned but fit within my calories+exercise calories, so I’m okay with it. Otherwise everything was exactly as planned. Today I’m lifting so won’t have as many exercise calories to eat, but I’m always hungrier on my lifting days. The program I’m doing increase squat weight by 5 pounds every workout so I’m already at 100 pounds today! Feels like a milestone. I’m a little worried that it will get too heavy soon but so far so good.

9/18 - 133.0 📝🏃🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️ Yesterday I tried to up my protein. I realized that if I want to build and/or maintain muscle while also losing weight, that's what I'm going to have to do. But wow, it's hard on limited calories! Here was my attempt:
Breakfast: 9 tbsp of egg whites mixed with a little cheese, avocado, and salsa
lunch: cottage cheese, chicken breast, and an apple
snack: banana (think I could have squeezed some protein in here but I was in a rush)
dinner: steak with veggies and yams
All of that was only 95g of protein and I'd like to have roughly my weight in grams of protein. Anyone here target protein goals? Any suggestions? I don't love protein powder but I'll try it if it's the only way.

9/19 - 📝🏃🏻‍♀️⏱️ 133.4. Thanks for the protein tips yesterday! Making good progress on most of my non-scale goals. Looks like no alcohol for the rest of the challenge, which will be manageable. We had a date night last night. I usually complain about DH’s bad influence on me but he chose a salad for dinner so I did the same, despite eyeing the burgers! It was a fun night. I’m lifting weights now - so shaky on 105-lb squats, ugh! Have no food plan for today so I’ll have to figure that out.

    Day/Weight/Trend Weight/Comment

    9/13 - 198.2/198
This uptick of 1.8 in one day makes absolutely no sense. I’m officially depressed about it.

    9/14 - 198/197.9
I did some “consolation eating” last night. Not too bad, but more than optimum. I’ll do better today.

    9/15 - 197.4/197.8
Nothing much to report. Have a lovely Sunday, all!

    9/16 - 197.4/197.6
Other than 10 Triscuits last night, I did well all day.

    9/17 - 196.8/197.4
Better. Also, I realized something (thank you, @SModa61 , for the nudge with your calcium discussion!). I’ve been having terrible gut issues all spring and summer, making me afraid to be far from a bathroom so keeping me from long walks. Have tried eliminating various foods from my diet with no results. Didn’t even think about the magnesium I’ve been taking to prevent leg cramps. I’ve stopped for a bit to see if that’s it. If so, and if cramps come back, I’ll add calcium to balance it out. I actually feel better already, and am hopeful for nice long autumn and best-of-winter walks.

    9/18 - 197.2/197.3
    Nothing to report today. 😊

    9/19 - 197.2/197.2
I’ve been keeping my calories below 1400, so sooner or later I have to lose, in theory. Just discouraging. I do like it, though, when real and trend weights line up—feels like a fresh start. 🤪

Great photo, even if blurry! Encounters with the wild are so thrilling and profound. One of my favorite memories of living in NC is of coming face to face with a gray fox, maybe 30 ft away, and just standing, looking at each other for a feeling of being seen, one to one. Soul stirring.

09/19-194.6- (Trend weight-192.6-) I got home so late last night that I didn’t have time to actually post but I did weigh yesterday morning and today so I’ve documented the weights. It was a long day doing the medical trip for my eye issues. My eye issue will eventually require surgery but it’s very risky and they want to wait until it is absolutely necessary so I’m to go back for rechecks every 6 months. The condition “eye pucker” is more common in women than men and is actually caused by old age. It’s an actual wrinkle in the back of the eye caused by an eyeball collapse of sorts. Old age….Humph. It’s more common in women because we usually live longer. They said I am pretty young (age 64) to have this condition but my eyes are aging more rapidly due to T2 diabetes. The surgery would involve removing the jelly in the back of my eye, pulling up a pucker and then filling the gap with an air bubble. What the scan looked like was an even line like a beach of sand going straight across and then suddenly a big triangular sink hole was in the center then back up to the straight beach line again. That sinkhole needs to be pulled back up. I will put a link below with what I found when I googled it this morning for anyone interested. I had never heard of this condition. I also have the start of a cataract in both eyes pretty evenly. That will also wait the doctor said as they are just beginning. Also, I have a large floater. Good news is that he did not find any bleeding vessels the other doctor told me I had. Gosh, this T2D has really wreaked havoc on me. Avoid it at all costs my friends! I was first diagnosed in 2007 when I quit smoking and very quickly gained a lot of weight. This makes losing weight all the more important to my body. I’m proud of how far I’ve come since then (I weighed 253 at one point for a very long time). However, I still have quite the road ahead. I’m planning a very careful day today to offset the overnight gain from yesterday’s trip. More travel tomorrow to my son’s dental which is about 75 miles each way. Lunch will likely be out again. I’ll try to keep it to one meal although it’s going to be another long day as I have quite a few things to do in that town in relation to my renovation. He’s the link I mentioned:

@deepwoodslady Donna, glad you are being monitored and your eye issues caught, but sorry you are going through it. DH had eye surgery in August (had his recheck this morning). In his case, his left eye was growing a membrane across his retina, so they went in to tear it off. Won't do into the surgery details, but they are flummoxed on why his vision a month out is worse than before the surgery.

My main advise to pass on is to tell them to do the local anesthesia well. DH's wore off before the surgery was over, and they kept say "almost done" when he told them he could feel what they were doing.
