45 Pounds down and the seats are shrinking

Tomorrow I will walk into the hospital with my head held up high. I will have surgery on my neck and it doesn’t scare me anymore.
The scale showed 303 lbs yesterday in the morning. I know that’s a lot for a woman, even if one is tall. I didn’t accomplish what I had hoped for (to be under 300) but it doesn’t matter. I am in good spirit. The weight loss and all the hard work I have put in, has been good for my self-esteem. I am in control now. I have lost 45 pounds in five months and I am proud of it.
I fit into our car with ease now. I admit it the seat belt is tight but the seat doesn’t feel so high anymore. Turns out I had about 30 lbs of extra padding on my behind, which is now gone. It was never the seat, but me who sat higher because of all the fat on my backside. (What a disturbing thought). The toilet seat has been shrinking too. It seems to be lower now. Isn’t that funny?
I can clean and wash myself. I can put on socks, even though I have to bend side-wise in a funny way. I am no longer using a ‘sock-puller’ when I get dressed.
I have lost 1 X of my top.
But most importantly I am no longer a high-risk patient, as I would have been last year in August.
My blood pressure is normal, rather on the lower side. Blood pressure meds are no longer mentioned.
I am NOT diabetic (A1C is now 5.5, down from 6.8 Type 2 diabetes in August 2024.)
I have heard my doctor scream on the phone. “No freaking way” she blurred out the phone when we talked after I had faxed her a copy of my blood work and weight, which made me laugh. I suppose it doesn’t happen every day that your doctor is cheering for you. “I will tell all my patient about you,” she added which made me proud.
I have lost 45 pounds in five months (without the weight loss injections my doctor had offered to prescribe.)
But more importantly, I have gotten much healthier. I will walk from the parking lot to the pre-op room. Just a few months ago I was wheeled around. My husband will wheel me out of the hospital the next day because that’s the law, it won’t be because I am immobile.
The surgery wasn’t planned but is necessary and I am not afraid. At home, my fridge is full with the meals I have prepared and the food I have bought. I have to enjoy ‘soft’ food for a couple of days. Piece of cake (nope I won’t eat cake).
My urge to eat unhealthy still comes up once in a while but I don’t listen to it. I know what causes it. It only happens if I allow myself to be hungry. I have learned to ‘play’ with calories. I have 1500 calories to spend each day and it’s interesting how careful I am most of the day, but even on days when I am reckless, I don’t go over by much.
I can’t wait to see what the months after surgery will bring. I have plans for spring.
