Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided to start back up the day before Round 278 started.

3/31Had a busy day reseeding part of the yard. This meant shoveling top soil, seeding and raking. I feel like I should see a downward turn tomorrow. Our house, or at least the people in it, continues to be sick. I really hope it goes away soon…

Goals for this round;
First and foremost, no feeding frenzies – I am not a shark or even a piranha!

be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

03/23 178.6 I had a mini binge yesterday afternoon. I want to say that this came from no where but I can clearly see how it happened.
I should have had something to eat before I went to the movies. No popcorn was no big deal BUT by the time I got to the grocery store after, it had been hours since I had eaten. We all know that is when my shoulder devil rides hard!!!
Oh and that little devil is all hopped up on TOM hormones so I left with chocolate, cheese and bread.
I ate like I was getting rid of the evidence of my shopping calorie crime.Today is a new day. I’m recommitted to doing my best, put this weekend behind me and get some progress this round. I ate ALL of my bad choices yesterday so at least that temptation is gone.

March 22 – 31, 2025

3/22- 132.4 so last round I got into the 133’s for a couple of days, then the tick up. But it was there. My goal this round will simply be to see how many days I can keep some sort of 132. Would like to end the round with a 132.X Yesterday, no walk, but did some elliptical and an hour machines at the gym. I am starting to get more comfortable there. Daily was solidly under, but I was not hungry. I think the caffeinated coffee I had at noon (before the gym) might have been a factor.
3/23- 134.2 Man, what a tease. Yesterday, was pretty perfect. Did my walk. Calories were good. Only other variable is the gym, which was mid-afternoon in the 21st. I just checked in with “Dr. Google” and I found the claim that peak fluid retention is 24-36 hours after the workout. So, maybe I can point my finger that way. I certainly have muscle pain, so we know there are some things going on.edit to add: I looked at my morning weigh-in's from last round. Did not see the pattern I mentioned above.

3/22 A new day, a new start. Yesterday was a solid day. Ate less than maintenance but more that (-300 kcal) = 1350. Won my tennis match and had a relaxing day. I’ve been putting off purchasing a new laptop for several years (mine is 15+ years old!!!!). Bit the bullet and purchased a new MacBook Pro. So…. I’ll be fiddling with that for the next few days. (One addiction to the next!) Make sure to get in my 10k and lifting this morning. Headed out of town to see a friend on the end-side of ALS. Helps keep life in perspective. Stay present and live moment by moment!
3/23 I fell apart at my friends house… I ate a sandwich / cookies /pound cake and then last night DH and I ate Mexican… Margarita plus chips. Crazy. So I will start again today!

Good morning at the gym yesterday, otherwise most of the rest of the day was parked in front of the boob tube watching NCAA basketball. TV is a trigger for me to eat a little snick-snack here and there. Kept it to a dull roar although there was some failure.I have a 50th High School class reunion this September. (I know, some of you weren’t born yet in 1975. Maybe for some of you, your parents weren’t born yet. HA!!!)I want to be at my goal weight before that.

Second verse, same as the first (but without gym.)We did have a diversion. Friends celebrated their marriage with a little reception yesterday. A happy story. Kayak and fishing theme, hokey but fun. We each got our own little cup of “bait.” Gummy worms and frogs. I just sat there grazing on those worse-than-worthless snacks.
Oh, and we are looking at upgrading our vehicle to a 7 passenger what-cha-ma-call-it. It’s not a van, it’s not an SUV. There are times where it would be nice to get another 2 couples into the car for a dinner (or something) out, or, to pile the kids and grandkids in for an outing. Here is the problem. To get into that third row it’s a combination of mountain climbing, yoga and spelunking. If one of them is wearing a skirt everyone else needs to wear a blindfold. Quite the task for our older friends (and for DW and me.) Maybe we should just punt and buy a Prius.

03/22-DNW- (Trend Weight: DNW) What a Horrid way to start my Saturday. Woke up with freezing cold temps in the house again and furnace blowing cold air. I had a new Google Nest thermostat installed yesterday and they did have to shut off the breaker to the furnace for a bit. Recently when we had a power outage and furnace was off, it also quit blowing heat. . It runs and blows, but blows cold air. Sounds related to me, like the pilot won’t auto light afterward. Last time we had several days of it not wanting to stay lit once it was reset. Of course, in this rural area there are no heating and cooling parts stores. Ugh. Then….. I went to weigh this morning and my scale wouldn’t work because it needs to be charged. It always just goes from full-blast work to dark window stop with no warning! I’m charging it this morning but I’m not waiting on my coffee. I’ll weigh in tomorrow and post. I have another scale but couldn’t find it in the renovation mess. It’s packed somewhere! Today is DGS’s birthday party. It’s being held about 1 ½ hours from my house closer to where he lives. He’s turning 6. Cake, ice cream, pizza etc. will be served. It is being held at a hotel with fancy pools etc. I hope this heat issue doesn’t stop me from attending. Good luck this round my friends. I hope all my bad luck will be concentrated into today and that I will have a great round along with the rest of you. We can do this!
🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 03/23-194.4- (Trend Weight: 194.5) I’m okay with this weight considering my youngest male GS’s birthday party yesterday, age 6 now. I definitely was off plan and had no exercise either since it was a bit of travel. However, we (my nephew and I) worked on the furnace all evening after I exited the party a bit early. No luck. He’s on his way over for another day of trying. Until he gets here, I am experimenting with the furnace and a theory. We’ll see how it pans out. It certainly doesn’t hurt to try unless I blow the place up! Having owned two small motels and some rental properties back in the day, I do know a little something but I’m certainly not an HVAC specialist. We did order a new part but it won’t be here until Tuesday from Amazon. Cold northern Michigan temps are horrid. It was 13 degrees last night. My poor cat was not happy. I’m doing everything I can to make her comfortable but she doesn’t like to be under the covers. We had a pur type square heater but you can only feel it if you are standing right in front of it practically touching it. It does not have any sort of blower and it certainly does not warm a room. It’s little help in a 3300 sq foot house! Please pray.

Yesterday was rough - DH has a bad flu and I spent the last 24 hours tending to him. Sleep was choppy for both of us. I am proud on day 1 I managed to get a full walk in and a meditation. I stuck to my calories. We will see if I can get more activity today. Down a pound I still feel like I am retaining a lot of water so I expect (hope) a lot of water loss these first few days. Would like to see 163-164 by the end of this first round. I don’t expect the rest to go that fast. I can feel a cough coming on 😩

Well am officially laid of April 10, but had to turn in all my computers and keys Friday and no longer going to the office. Will finally have time to actually participate in this challenge in between looking for a job. As you can imagine the past few months have been chaotic as my boss assured we would have funding and ultimately had to accept the horrible conclusion we cannot survive. Have spent Saturday and Sunday coming to terms with the conclusion and readying myself for Monday. I have not ate well at the office the past few months and with all the stress have not weighed myself, rationalizing I am in a tough time. well time is up! I need to get back in control of myself, no excuses anymore. My goals, are to weigh my food and record! No wine on weekdays, and no whining anyway !!!! I have time to work out so do it in the morning and hope I get a new job soon so I can then procrastinate working out again once more.

03/23 178.603/24 DNW For all my bad feelings about gaining 10lbs this winter, I was swimming in compliments yesterday during my morning workout. My “ride or die” workout group has been together for over 5 years and we know each others bodies well. So when these ladies say my body is looking good, I believe them. I’ve done a good job creating muscle this winter so now I have to drop 10-20 pounds so everyone can see it!
I’ve got my early morning positive feelings! Monday is full body strength with cardio bursts. This evening I start a four week series of Belly Dancing classes! I’m hoping to learn to have a bit more grace and fluidity in movement. It doesn’t come naturally to me but with determination I’ve learned I can teach my body anything.

3/31:3/24: Actually cooked dinner and ate a "true serving", so it was a successful day. I've been gentle on my body for the last week and a half after too aggressive yoga/Pilates/Barre stints left me with sore hip joints and a cranky lower back. I'm learning: I'm not 35 (nor even 55) and my body requires different exercise and care. High impact and/or repetitive motion workouts can aggravate/inflame my joints in a way that I used to ignore (and I wish I hadn't). But when I was young, a couple of ibuprofen and a good night sleep made the aches go away; now it takes a couple weeks.
Learning to let go of personal expectations of what my body can/should do to be at its best is my new goal. Time to put away the ego and learn what is really best for my body.
