3/27 - 168.5 - TOM finally arrived which came with a whoosh of a pound. I'm definitely feeling lighter and leaner today, too, proving my theory of water weight/bloating as the culprit of the last few days increased scale readings. Had a bit of a hectic day. Harley, my pretty pup, was acting funny since Tuesday evening. We thought maybe she ate a bee or something and wasn't feeling well. Turns out, last night getting her on the bed, we hit her right hip and it's horrifically tender. No wonder she couldn't jump up on her favorite chair, the couch, or the bed and didn't want to move around much! I called the vet as soon as they opened and took her in. Well, she has a very large bone spur in the socket of her right hip. Anti-inflammatory pain meds, some joint supplements, and a promise that if she doesn't improve (the inflammation is high and causing the sudden flare up of pain) or she gets worse, we will call and they will forward her images to an ortho and get us in with them to see options for helping her. For being 8 in June, she's absolutely healthy otherwise! Not even arthritis in her knees or anything, which is great. Hopefully that means these supplements will help keep her in the clear going forward. I took Smoke for a walk while she was at the vet but it's supposed to be rainy these next several days - I was upset that I'd miss a walk but it may be better now the rain is forcing us not to walk because I don't want to make Harley feel left out by me only taking Smoke or by irritating her hip by taking her with. I have a walking pad to get my walks in indoors. Hah! It started raining again just as I typed that. I guess Mother Nature is agreeing with me.
On track for food today. I had my afternoon snack late since I was out picking Harley up (we live 45 minutes from the vet) but it works out since the Man is driving from out of town home and I'm hoping I can wait until he gets home to eat together. If I can wait without needing a snack then I'll have my macros for the day nearly perfect and I'm feeling much better about handling this cut again. It's been challenging but I now have 3 weeks of meal planning to figure out something that works well going forward for me.

3/22 A new day, a new start. Yesterday was a solid day. Ate less than maintenance but more that (-300 kcal) = 1350. Won my tennis match and had a relaxing day. I’ve been putting off purchasing a new laptop for several years (mine is 15+ years old!!!!). Bit the bullet and purchased a new MacBook Pro. So…. I’ll be fiddling with that for the next few days. (One addiction to the next!) Make sure to get in my 10k and lifting this morning. Headed out of town to see a friend on the end-side of ALS. Helps keep life in perspective. Stay present and live moment by moment!
3/23 I fell apart at my friends house… I ate a sandwich / cookies /pound cake and then last night DH and I ate Mexican… Margarita plus chips. Crazy. So I will start again today!
3/24 ⚖️ much better day, but ate rice at dinner … Therefore carbs up. Ate at maintenance (1400). Protein✅. Pleased to complete🏋️♀️ for the first time in over a month. Noticeably weaker…
Today will be a full day. 🙆♀️🚶♀️💓 already. Up early to beat the rain.💪🏻 Will complete a 24-hour fast today.… May do a 36. Taking it 12 hours at a time (Not to lose weight but to regenerate cells and give my system a break!) Planning a 72-hour by Easter.
3/25 ⚖️? No clue-not even going to try to explain that one… all I can say is 🏋️♀️ two days in a row? Maybe not enough 💦💦💦? Sore. But… I had a great day yesterday! 24 hr fast. OMAD 🥩115g. 750 kcals. Well balanced. Will try same today. Big 🎾match this morning- to win division & head to state💪🏻 Still trying to stay in the moment. Self-discipline battles are real.
3/26 Solid day. No OMAD but ate at noon and 6pm - back on IF 16/8. 🥩125g. 💦💦💦. 10 carbs 1300 kcals. Chauffeuring DGS this week. Yesterday we got to play an hour of basketball. He is such a joy.
I won my 🎾 match, my team won our 🎾match & we won the 🎾division by ONE SET. It was crazy close. This was over eight matches since January - a roller-coaster season… including snow, freeze-outs & rain-outs. State is 4/11-4/13. Will be fun. It’s a pleasure to be involved in an adult league … I enjoy the competition and friendships. We have a couple of ladies at our club in their mid 80s & playing incredible tennis - they are phenomenal. An inspiration! #agingyoung #ENGAGED

3/27 another good day yesterday with more tennis. I’ve been overly tired lately, so I need to pay attention to that. Posting late. Had a wonderful 90 minute walk this morning. Took care of a lot of business today and I am ready for a good night sleep! ✅🥩💦

Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided to start back up the day before Round 278 started.
SW Rnd 291 143.3 (65 kg)
3/22- 142.7 (64.7 kg) Another overnight whoosh. We shall see what tomorrow brings. I had a lot of sodium today.
3/23- 142.9 (64.8 kg) Today was a rainy/snowy/sleety day. Light lunch, but heavy, high sodium dinner. Random fact I just learned today: there are women specific sleeping bags often with targeted extra insulation zones around the torso and feet. I had no idea. That's brilliant and now I want one.
3/24- 143.7 (65.2 kg) Went to bed past my bedtime, didn't post
3/25- 143.4 (65 kg) It's a low energy day for me, probably due to going to bed later than normal. Strange dreams too. I dreamt the Barney ( yes, the purple dinosaur) characters had a side gig as a metal band. Scratching my head at where that came from.
3/26- 142.6 (64.7 kg) Burger night at our favorite restaurant. I remembered not to eat the whole thing and didn't finish my fries either. My stomach is much happier for it.
3/27- 142.3 (64.5 kg) I had an unexpected short day at work and got off two hours early. It worked out nicely because I was able to go get my bloodwork done, go return some things and get my glasses adjusted before my eye doctor closed for the rest of the week. It was a productive afternoon.

Goals for this round;
First and foremost, no feeding frenzies – I am not a shark or even a piranha!
to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.

I had a bit of a lightening bolt this morning. I am supposed to decide on potential therapists to interview by the end of this month to find a good fit for my “couples”therapy with my sister. I’ve been putting it off.
I’ve been putting off a few things I need to get done that are unpleasant. I think I need to accomplish some hard things today that are weighing me down.I would rather do physically hard things all day to the point of exhaustion than any of the things on today’s list.

Just Give Me 10 Days – Round 291
March 22 – 31, 2025
SW: 134.0
3/22- 132.4 so last round I got into the 133’s for a couple of days, then the tick up. But it was there. My goal this round will simply be to see how many days I can keep some sort of 132. Would like to end the round with a 132.X Yesterday, no walk, but did some elliptical and an hour machines at the gym. I am starting to get more comfortable there. Daily was solidly under, but I was not hungry. I think the caffeinated coffee I had at noon (before the gym) might have been a factor.
3/23- 134.2 Man, what a tease. Yesterday, was pretty perfect. Did my walk. Calories were good. Only other variable is the gym, which was mid-afternoon in the 21st. I just checked in with “Dr. Google” and I found the claim that peak fluid retention is 24-36 hours after the workout. So, maybe I can point my finger that way. I certainly have muscle pain, so we know there are some things going on.
3/24- 132.4 Ok, so two 132.X sightings in one round. Maybe there is hope it will stick around. Yesterday, I did the morning walk (5 miles) then after dinner DH and I went for a lap together (1.6ish miles). Tracking was thorough and target good (slightly higher but good nutrients). Today, skipping the walk and will do a gym day.
3/25- 132.4 Three out of 4. If I don’t do down once more ounce this round, I will be happy. Question is can I keep this. Yesterday, I traded my walk for the gym. Did 11 min elliptical, and an hour on machines. Cut myself short by one exercise due to hitting myself on the face, and then snuck out of the gym bleeding and with a goose egg. And we all say the gym is healthy for us. :P Two times ago, I popped a rib which I am still working through. Today is a walk, then am facing a “fine dining” restaurant that I have never been to, with people we have never dined with. I have looked at the menu and have two plans in place depending on how our guests order food. I am also going to try and reserve calories for the evening. I am not great at that. Then tomorrow is DH’s birthday. Just pizza out with his fishing buddy, but another calorie challenge. At least I know that any leftover pizza go home with our widowed friend.
3/26- 132.4 Well I stuck to my dining out plan. Went to bed fine, but had trouble sleeping I am so hungry……. BUT I did get the 132.4 for 4 out of 5, so maybe this is not just a down blip. The restaurant was a mess. I think that was also a factor of my sleep issues at 2:30 AM I kept thinking of everything I could put in a review. Yesterday was a 5+ walk and today will be the same. OH, today is DH’s 64th birthday, so I am facing pizza tonight. So a second day in a row pushing my calories off to the end of the day.
3/27- 132.2 Made it through two dietarily challenging days. Did closer to 6 miles yesterday. Pre-tracked, and was careful to not overeat during the day.
3/28- 132.2 Six out of seven so far. Gym day yesterday, with no injuries. Yay! Starting to feel more like I belong there. Feels good. Yesterday, calories crept up a bit, and I ate into some of my exercise calories. But mental math, made it sound ok. Not looking to lose more on this round, just trying to hold on. Fortunately, on this round the next out to eat is the NIGHT of the 31st. :)

@Skyleen75 : I think those tasks that weigh our minds down make it harder to stay on track, and when I'm procrastinating with something weighty it's sapping my energy. Good luck getting those mentally draining tasks off your plate. And kudos for you for couples therapy with any thorny relationship, especially a sister. <3

This is my posting format….Month/Day: Scale Reading - First thing today after bathroom visit before getting dressed. / Comment
3/21/25 : 227.8 SW a day before.
3/22: 227.4
Good morning at the gym yesterday, otherwise most of the rest of the day was parked in front of the boob tube watching NCAA basketball. TV is a trigger for me to eat a little snick-snack here and there. Kept it to a dull roar although there was some failure.I have a 50th High School class reunion this September. (I know, some of you weren’t born yet in 1975. Maybe for some of you, your parents weren’t born yet. HA!!!)I want to be at my goal weight before that.
3/23: 227.4
Second verse, same as the first (but without gym.)We did have a diversion. Friends celebrated their marriage with a little reception yesterday. A happy story. Kayak and fishing theme, hokey but fun. We each got our own little cup of “bait.” Gummy worms and frogs. I just sat there grazing on those worse-than-worthless snacks.
Oh, and we are looking at upgrading our vehicle to a 7 passenger what-cha-ma-call-it. It’s not a van, it’s not an SUV. There are times where it would be nice to get another 2 couples into the car for a dinner (or something) out, or, to pile the kids and grandkids in for an outing. Here is the problem. To get into that third row it’s a combination of mountain climbing, yoga and spelunking. If one of them is wearing a skirt everyone else needs to wear a blindfold. Quite the task for our older friends (and for DW and me.) Maybe we should just punt and buy a Prius.
3/24: 229.0
This bump should have happened yesterday, but we all know about delayed penalties for misbehavior. Yesterday my fitbit/pixel watch says I burned 11 calories. 11!Seeking no system errors today!
3/25: 227.8
Ate a hair (or an entire mullet) too much yesterday, but rocked the exercise. And, we bought the what-cha-ma-call-it. Used Subaru Ascent. We will likely be passing the Outback down to the kiddos for the benefit and safety of the grand kiddos. (our real motivation for a new car)
I saw a pickup truck in the showroom yesterday with a sticker price of $114,000! Limited edition. They had just sold it for $125,000. There was a bidding war evidently.
3/26: 227.4
Microscopic changes but trending downward.Today’s challenge: A couple lunch friends and I will be touring a local frozen pizza plant (small) run by another friend. They have a regional market, not quite national yet. Then it’s pizza for lunch at the plant.
3/27: 228.0
I am right in the middle of a 3-day (3-round) pizza wrestling match, today being DW’s birthday.Yesterday I was taken down at the pizza factory tour. I was able to offset it because of my morning spinning class where my average heart rate for 45 minutes was 135. I was sucker punched by a piece of (Marie Callendar) cherry pie I baked for DW.
Today is Rotary. Deep dish pizza on the menu. This day has the best chance of success.
Tomorrow will be ridiculous. I have a slim chance of not being pinned. On the last Friday of each month after class, our gym class goes out for lunch at Pizza Ranch of all places. (Pizza, Fried Chicken, Salad Bar) Then, to celebrate DW we are taking the kiddos and my mom to a Chinese buffet for supper. On the bright side I should be able to get out for a good ride or long hike (or both) on a warm windy day.
Once again I am “beset” with first-world problems.
3/28: 230.0
Ugh! Oooph! The “bill” for the 26th and 27th just came due.Last minute plans yesterday for DW’s birthday. We went out for dinner at the local, very good, BBQ place. I could have pre-logged my order; I didn’t. I could have ordered salad for my side dish; I didn’t. I could have had a light beer; I didn’t. I could have had only one beer; I didn’t. I could have kept my paws off DW’s french fry pile (she invited me in); I didn’t. After all of this I could have logged it all; I didn’t.
Could have; would have; should have!
Has anyone ever pre-logged a buffet? (two of them staring me in the face today) When will I learn that celebration does not need to involve eating until I am literally full? And on a side note, when will I take inflammation seriously?

3/24 - 131.8 lbs. I am tired of losing same weight over and over. Had long work trip, celebrations at home, spring break and just gave up on balanced lifestyle in between these events. After a month of negligence, I am feeling worse and out of control. I feel heavy to sleep at night with heartburns and generally slow and unmotivated during the day. Time to get back on track and stick to the program.3/25 - 130.9 lbs. Stuck to planned eating and stopped myself as I started to binge. Keeping initial goals easy until I get comfortable with getting on track.
3/26 - 130.3 lbs. Ate planned meals, stuck to healthy carbs, high protein meals, 10K steps and 10c of water
3/27 - 130 lbs. Ate planned meals, stuck to healthy carbs, high protein meals, 10 K steps, 12c water. Avoided sweets and chips at office and avoided drinking socially after hours.
3/28 - 130 lbs. Ate planned meals, did snack a bit unplanned but limited it and kept it healthy, high protein, controlled carbs, 10K steps, 12c water. Need to mkae sure I keep this momentum during weekend.

@_JeffreyD_ My advice for buffet is first, walk the whole buffet, so you can see what you want to spend your calories on. second, only one plate that is a single depth, kind of like what a plate might look like if you were being served a plated meal. That's all I got for you. Hope it helps. Two in one day will be an extra challenge. Good luck!

Finally a light at the end of the tunnel! First day out of bed and back at work after being home with the flu all week. Packing a healthy lunch will try and take a walk on my break. Yesterday I tried and felt dizzy. I can’t wait to feel recovered about to get out in the garden those peas don’t plant themselves. Not looking forward to today, going to have a lot of work to catch up on.

03/27-195.6- (Trend Weight: 194.9) Well, I was on target with the issue yesterday but furnace is still not working correctly or consistently. Me and the handyman will be all over it again today. Luckily no pipes froze last night.
I stuck to good meal plans yesterday but ate my emotions in my “low carb and approved” snacks. I read the post by @judefit1 and it struck me deeply this morning. I hope that her post and my feelings toward it will help me make the changes I need to make more permanent and ingrained. I will say more on this in my response to her in a little while. I’m thankful for her and for all of you.
🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 03/28-DNW- (Trend Weight: DNW) No weigh Friday. I finally broke down and called an HVAC company. We don’t have one local so it will be a bit more expensive due to travel time. The plan is that they will diagnose the problem or part we need, we can order it and my handyman can put it in. He has done some furnace repair in the past and even worked for an HVAC company for a short time before he moved here to our remote area. I hope for an answer today and a repair soon. In the meantime I am babying out heat at 66 degrees (it works pretty good if I don’t ask for more). It’s still very snowy and cold here in Northern Michigan so that is not a comfortable temp but it’s keeping the pipes from freezing and keeping the cat comfortable, especially when I turn on the Eden Pure for a bit to warm up her space. My bed is still in the livingroom because of the reno so she stays snuggled up on top and lets the Eden Pure rock her world. My son has a little ceramic blower on him most of the time in his basement apartment so he is okay. Praying for answers today! Pebbles is counting on me!

3/26 - 169.6
3/27 - 168.5
3/28 - 167.9 - Well, I wasn't expecting that. I did stick to plan yesterday and stayed perfectly on track with my macros. I went ahead and checked in today and it increased me a tiny bit - 1g protein, 1g fat, 2g carb increase so nothing significant but I will take it! We're having date night tonight so I've pre-planned my meal based on my favorite there and I'm just barely within goal. I could forego a side on my lunch or skip my afternoon meal but I feel like that'd leave me too hungry and I'd be tempted to overeat. Best to just aim for my snack so I'm not so ravenous at dinner and then focus on not eating all my rice (my macros allow me 1/2 cup rice and they usually give about a cup's worth so I just need to focus on eating only half which is usually what happens anyway). Good cardio day playing various basketball games with the guys. My sciatic is acting up due to the hectic weather, but it only slowed me down a bit, not stop me. Harley seems to be doing better today with her hip and we managed a small walk outside - slow and short, but it got us all moving so I'm very content there. Hopefully the inflammation and pain will fade entirely before we even finish all her meds and she'll be back to normal again soon.

RE: your Post
“It's these patterns that get me in trouble every time, and have done so since I was an overweight little girl hiding bags of Cheetos and Hershey bars in my bedroom. I know that, when I start feeling badly about what I eat, that little girl is still with me and she wants her junk food. Adult me is still trying to figure out what she really wants…
I'm here to change the patterns.”
In Response:
There are so many habits that are tied to emotions and experiences. So engrained in each and every one of us. Your post touched me because it brought me the reminder of so many things that I need to remember on the daily. I’ve made mention of some of these things before, but I hope it helps others while thanking you for your post.
I grew up poor and I don’t have to worry anymore if there will be enough. I grew up in a household of 6 kids, mom and step-dad. I don’t have to beat my brothers to the food anymore in order to get an adequate amount. They were growing to be 6’ 4” and needed that protein. I see that now. But I don’t have to compete for what my own body needs anymore.
I don’t have to stuff my food down quickly because I’m not 18 at the factory anymore. I don’t have very timed 15 minute breaks with no time to eat it because of the long walk to the break room. , I used to stuff it down much too quickly. There was always that watchful eye from the causeways going through the building above us where the upper managers would watch us so closely, and the floor managers would overdo their jobs. Absolutely no eating until break and NEVER on the workroom floor. Again, stuff it in quickly lest you don’t get it at all!
Food is something that I should use to fuel my body but Food is also something that I should enjoy. I don’t need to use it to stuff my stomach until it is overfull which is a sense of security and safety for me. I can slow down, enjoy it, let my body register it. I can appreciate it. I can partake only what I need now and not squirrel away in my tummy for later. Somewhere in these truths I lost my respect for food and have not appreciated it or enjoyed it properly.
As a young adult I started off very rough. Hubby #1 (of 27 years) and I were hungry. We lived on buttered noodles and 25 cent Banquet pot pies. To this day, I find such comfort in buttered noodles or any pasta. It’s those very carbs that my diabetic body does not need. But my SOUL, yes, it needs it to feel SAFE. To feel fed in more ways than one.
I’m not that young girl or young adult anymore. I’ve worked very hard to physically move past all that and I really need to mentally and emotionally move past it all too. Those weren’t Bad or Horrible years. I Cherish them and their lessons. I just developed such bad habits during them, because of them. It’s time for the little girl in me, the young lady and young mother in me to grow up. To slow down when I eat. It’s time to feel secure.
We all have our reasons that we overeat. We all have reasons we have developed bad habits along the way. I know I am not alone in this. Thanks for sharing that post about the little girl in you. It definitely touched home and heart. I will continue to work at it. I will likely continue to slip and fall in it but I know how to get back up and keep fighting. At nearly 65 years old, I’ve had enough practice. I appreciate your sharing.
