Just Give Me 10 Days – Round 291
    March 22 – 31, 2025

    SW: 134.0

3/22- 132.4 so last round I got into the 133’s for a couple of days, then the tick up. But it was there. My goal this round will simply be to see how many days I can  keep some sort of 132. Would like to end the round with a 132.X Yesterday, no walk, but did some elliptical and an hour machines at the gym. I am starting to get more comfortable there. Daily was solidly under, but I was not hungry. I think the caffeinated coffee I had at noon (before the gym) might have been a factor.

3/23- 134.2 Man, what a tease. Yesterday, was pretty perfect. Did my walk. Calories were good. Only other variable is the gym, which was mid-afternoon in the 21st. I just checked in with “Dr. Google” and I found the claim that peak fluid retention is 24-36 hours after the workout. So, maybe I can point my finger that way. I certainly have muscle pain, so we know there are some things going on.

3/24- 132.4 Ok, so two 132.X sightings in one round. Maybe there is hope it will stick around. Yesterday, I did the morning walk (5 miles) then after dinner DH and I went for a lap together (1.6ish miles). Tracking was thorough and target good (slightly higher but good nutrients). Today, skipping the walk and will do a gym day.

3/25- 132.4 Three out of 4. If I don’t do down once more ounce this round, I will be happy. Question is can I keep this. Yesterday, I traded my walk for the gym. Did 11 min elliptical, and an hour on machines. Cut myself short by one exercise due to hitting myself on the face, and then snuck out of the gym bleeding and with a goose egg. And we all say the gym is healthy for us. :P Two times ago, I popped a rib which I am still working through. Today is a walk, then am facing a “fine dining” restaurant that I have never been to, with people we have never dined with. I have looked at the menu and have two plans in place depending on how our guests order food. I am also going to try and reserve calories for the evening. I am not great at that. Then tomorrow is DH’s birthday. Just pizza out with his fishing buddy, but another calorie challenge. At least I know that any leftover pizza go home with our widowed friend.

3/26- 132.4 Well I stuck to my dining out plan. Went to bed fine, but had trouble sleeping I am so hungry……. BUT I did get the 132.4 for 4 out of 5, so maybe this is not just a down blip. The restaurant was a mess. I think that was also a factor of my sleep issues at 2:30 AM I kept thinking of everything I could put in a review. Yesterday was a 5+ walk and today will be the same. OH, today is DH’s 64th birthday, so I am facing pizza tonight. So a second day  in a row pushing my calories off to the end of the day.

3/27- 132.2 Made it through two dietarily challenging days. Did closer to 6 miles yesterday. Pre-tracked, and was careful to not overeat during the day.

3/28- 132.2 Six out of seven so far. Gym day yesterday, with no injuries. Yay! Starting to feel more like I belong there. Feels good. Yesterday, calories crept up a bit, and I ate into some of my exercise calories. But mental math, made it sound ok. Not looking to lose more on this round, just trying to hold on. Fortunately, on this round the next out to eat is the NIGHT of the 31st. :)

3/29- 132.0 Five+ miles yesterday. Scale further down. I am grateful, but I am running on “hungry” a little too much. Going to sleep hungry and waking up hungry. I am contemplating a cautious refeed day today, just to relieve some pressure. The good news is that by the time I am dress shopping in May, I should be under 130 and be able to realistically assess how I like a dress style. Today is back to the gym. My black eye is still a beaut!

3/30- 132.2 Did the gym, no injuries. Looking to close out the round at a similar number. Today’s challenge is we have guests coming over for appetizers and cocktails. Going to pre-track a plan. I should be able to make this work! Fingers crossed.

    3/31-

    OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016.) I was actually at 250 in 2011 or so…
OGW: 199 (just to say I did)
    Maintenance Range Goal: 200-205

Simple Goal for this round : Start treating my OGW like a REAL PROJECT with the future of “the company” on the line.

    Round 291 Posts
    This is my posting format….

Month/Day: Scale Reading - First thing today after bathroom visit before getting dressed. / Comment

    3/21/25 : 227.8 SW a day before.

    3/22: 227.4
Good morning at the gym yesterday, otherwise most of the rest of the day was parked in front of the boob tube watching NCAA basketball. TV is a trigger for me to eat a little snick-snack here and there. Kept it to a dull roar although there was some failure.

I have a 50th High School class reunion this September. (I know, some of you weren’t born yet in 1975. Maybe for some of you, your parents weren’t born yet. HA!!!)I want to be at my goal weight before that.

    3/23: 227.4
Second verse, same as the first (but without gym.)

We did have a diversion. Friends celebrated their marriage with a little reception yesterday. A happy story. Kayak and fishing theme, hokey but fun. We each got our own little cup of “bait.” Gummy worms and frogs. I just sat there grazing on those worse-than-worthless snacks.

Oh, and we are looking at upgrading our vehicle to a 7 passenger what-cha-ma-call-it. It’s not a van, it’s not an SUV. There are times where it would be nice to get another 2 couples into the car for a dinner (or something) out, or, to pile the kids and grandkids in for an outing. Here is the problem. To get into that third row it’s a combination of mountain climbing, yoga and spelunking. If one of them is wearing a skirt everyone else needs to wear a blindfold. Quite the task for our older friends (and for DW and me.) Maybe we should just punt and buy a Prius.

    3/24: 229.0
This bump should have happened yesterday, but we all know about delayed penalties for misbehavior. Yesterday my fitbit/pixel watch says I burned 11 calories. 11!

    Seeking no system errors today!

    3/25: 227.8
Ate a hair (or an entire mullet) too much yesterday, but rocked the exercise.

And, we bought the what-cha-ma-call-it. Used Subaru Ascent. We will likely be passing the Outback down to the kiddos for the benefit and safety of the grand kiddos. (our real motivation for a new car)

I saw a pickup truck in the showroom yesterday with a sticker price of $114,000! Limited edition. They had just sold it for $125,000. There was a bidding war evidently.

    3/26: 227.4
    Microscopic changes but trending downward.

Today’s challenge: A couple lunch friends and I will be touring a local frozen pizza plant (small) run by another friend. They have a regional market, not quite national yet. Then it’s pizza for lunch at the plant.

    3/27: 228.0
I am right in the middle of a 3-day (3-round) pizza wrestling match, today being DW’s birthday.

Yesterday I was taken down at the pizza factory tour. I was able to offset it because of my morning spinning class where my average heart rate for 45 minutes was 135. I was sucker punched by a piece of (Marie Callendar) cherry pie I baked for DW.

Today is Rotary. Deep dish pizza on the menu. This day has the best chance of success.

Tomorrow will be ridiculous. I have a slim chance of not being pinned. On the last Friday of each month after class, our gym class goes out for lunch at Pizza Ranch of all places. (Pizza, Fried Chicken, Salad Bar) Then, to celebrate DW we are taking the kiddos and my mom to a Chinese buffet for supper. On the bright side I should be able to get out for a good ride or long hike (or both) on a warm windy day.

Once again I am “beset” with first-world problems.

    3/28: 230.0
Ugh! Oooph! The “bill” for the 26th and 27th just came due.

Last minute plans yesterday for DW’s birthday. We went out for dinner at the local, very good, BBQ place. I could have pre-logged my order; I didn’t. I could have ordered salad for my side dish; I didn’t. I could have had a light beer; I didn’t. I could have had only one beer; I didn’t. I could have kept my paws off DW’s french fry pile (she invited me in); I didn’t. After all of this I could have logged it all; I didn’t.

Could have; would have; should have!

Has anyone ever pre-logged a buffet? (two of them staring me in the face today) When will I learn that celebration does not need to involve eating until I am literally full? And on a side note, when will I take inflammation seriously?

    3/29: 231.8
I wanted to just write DNW, but there it is for all to see. This is literally 4.4 pounds over last Saturday. What is “it?” It is not all me, but rather what is currently retained in my body. Hoping for a purge by round’s end. Not an excuse.

I got a lot of exercise yesterday too, there is a positive note.

There is another opportunity for will power tonight at one more Birthday Party for DW at a friend’s house.

    3/30: 229.0
I am sure the 20 mile bike ride yesterday helped. First eight miles were ridden without using the e-bike assistance.

Yesterday I put the snow blower in its summer location and replaced it with the lawn mower. Some of my neighbors have already mowed once!!! Those are the people who mow twice for every time I mow. It won’t be long until I get my first one in. I bet they get number two in before that.

Last night’s birthday party only caused mild damage. 😊

@Chapter_3 you wrote…"To me, this group is about accomplishing SOMETHING in 10 days AND giving support … I’m doing neither."

Some here (in addition to me) might find your statement inaccurate. Hang in there and we will see you on April Fool's Day.

@deepwoodslady sending you warming thoughts. Thank goodness the crack was discovered!

Please EVERYONE get a carbon monoxide detector for your home!!!! Our detector saved our lives this winter when our furnace had a problem.

@astroamy You are an absolute inspiration!!!! I hope your new dress isn’t too big by the time you get to wear it!

@baileedobbie Slow and steady! You are making consistent progress.

03/30 177.0 I was worried since my main meal yesterday was out for Mexican and I showed up hungry!

Allergy meds did the trick yesterday but I did not do everything on my list. DH had his first full day off in a month. Wonderful spending the day together but exhausting listening to all of his planned projects for around the house.
I had to smile and nod, lol as soon as the boat goes in the water we’ll see how much of that gets done!

I am going to fight really hard to keep this number today. I’m feeling a little down in the mouth this morning about my winter gain. My attitude and effort really turned around for March but my progress hasn’t caught up yet. I need to keep up the good vibes until I make a break through.

@deepwoodslady : Donna, thank you for sharing your story- so touching, and also so recognizable.

I also remember years when dinner was a shared box of Kraft Mac and Cheese, made with water cause we didn't have milk; and after my divorce, dinner was too often a box of pasta with a bag of frozen vegetables- it lasted 2 days for my kids and me. I called it "pasta primavera" and my kids grew to hate it- but it remains a fond memory for all of us of the lean years when we became so close.

Food is always associated with good (and bad) memories for me too, as recently as last night when DP asked for the "Full Italian" (including braciole, sausage, meatballs) with all his kids and grandkids for his birthday. I started cooking on Friday night! Luckily, I was able to remain (somewhat) restrained in my own eating, but was really happy to feed the entire brood, and hanging out in our kitchen with them is always so wonderful.

And yes- I agree that even those rough times had wonderful, poignant moments. Best of all, look at us- we've both succeeded, thrived and have grown families! Who knew back then how it would all turn out?

So, if food is our "vice", I say let's enjoy it- at least in moderation :-) <3

    XO Julie

@Chapter_3 : I am going to take a break until April 1. To me, this group is about accomplishing SOMETHING in 10 days AND giving support … I’m doing neither. I want to re-group to give it my best. I will return April 1 and plan a viable re-set. I’m simply not #ENGAGED. Good luck to all & see you 4/1 🥰JGMTD#292

Carolyn, sometimes we give to others, sometimes we get back. I know you always feel like you need to be "doing"; I hope this is time to just work on "being"… feel better, we're here for you, too.

@deepwoodslady Donna, I’m glad you finally called a professional. Our neighbors across the street have had issues with the water heater for years. The pilot wouldn’t stay lit. My husband has been telling them to get it replaced for at least 2 years! He would go over and relight the pilot whenever we knew they were coming. When they came a couple of weeks ago, he lit it again and they had hot water that night. The next morning she ended up with a cold shower!! They finally gave up when he couldn’t get it to light. I suspect that “emergency water heater replacement” is good part of the $2000 cost.

Whelp today I am going to actually try and track and get some movement. I feel like this flu is going to hang on in little ways for awhile, you know those illnesses it takes awhile to shake. But I have a little more energy every day.

I am encouraged by the garden birds waking up and singing, showing me where they want me to plant my pea plants today. I feel like I am starting from scratch again, but I am proud of myself for just showing up these past 9 days.

3/29 DNW - away for the weekend in Malvern.9.37 miles walked.

3/30 DNW - still away. Walked 11.49 miles to Upton-on-Severn & back. Happy Mother's Day to all those celebrating today x.

3/31 139.6 (trend 140.6) managed a very early 5.9 mile walk before leaving the camp site planning on visiting MIL. Half way through the drive we had a phone call from her care home (she has advanced dementia) to say she had taken a turn for the worse. It's now a waiting game, taking turns with BIL & partner to sit at her bedside, at least she is comfortable and not in pain.

    👍👍This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE & I AM WHAT I EAT!!!!! 👍👍.

@deepwoodslady Oh my! I hope the roads will be safe and clear to get you to a warm hotel room. You’ve had more than a fair share of challenges lately. Stay strong but be gentle on yourself.

@Chapter_3 You will get through this and your family will be stronger for it.

I enjoy reading everyone’s posts with my morning coffee.

    03/29 177.2
    03/30 177.0

03/31 178.2 Ugh. Not my best round. Technically a tiny drop from the first day but really it’s a gain from last round ending.
I did manage to do a few things yesterday from my stack of “I don’t want to”.

I have to reframe my outlook on tasks. I put too much value into them- creating good tasks and bad tasks when really it’s all just stuff that has to get done. I know the part of me that procrastinates and gets anxiety is the same part of me that binges on food.

There is this tiny thought seed in my head as I review therapists for working with my sister and I. This isn’t JUST going to be about our relationship, this could potentially be an individual healing journey.

My relationship with food and my body is all wrapped up in a life time of experiences. Maybe I could use some help sorting them out. I’ve done a good job getting this far. It’s time to go next level.

Ready for the next round and the next level.

@deepwoodslady OMG, I am so sorry that it is going from bad to worse for you. Do find somewhere to be where you can have warmth, a hot shower, and maybe a cooked meal. Will be thinking of you. Hope things resolve soon!!

@Chapter_3 I fully understand the concept of becoming derailed due to other aspects of my life. That is a repeating concept for me that needs to end. Sorry for what you are going through!

@musicsax Dealing with the decline and death of our loved ones is heartbreaking. <3

3/31- 131.2 I was actually debating whether I wanted to have this be my final weight for the round, and thus be my next starting weight and putting a lot of pressure to have any loss during round 292. But ultimately, I need to not get triggered by numbers. Last May, I crossed 127 and was no longer in the range of 124-126 that I set for myself. My response was to make less effort, blame life (though life was certainly a contributing factor) and add 10 more over the next 9 months. On another note, this number implies that I handled yesterday’s entertaining ok. TODAY, I have to go out to dinner (all this social stuff takes a lot of planning).

End of Round 291 count down: 167 days until the wedding, 30 days until dress shopping

    @Chapter_3 you wrote…"

…. We are personally not familiar with anyone who has had to come to terms with the challenges required in applying “tough love“ measures & the associated REAL fallout …"

You are at least familiar with me, if not personally, but count me as someone familiar with giving tough love. Think of it as a gift for your DS that at least gives him a chance to make a good decision for himself. It's long and emotional. And sometimes leads to a better place.

Without tough love, the chances for making his own good decisions dwindle. Hugs.

    OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016.) I was actually at 250 in 2011 or so…
OGW: 199 (just to say I did)

    1. Yesterday I was taken down at the pizza factory tour. I was able to offset it because of my morning spinning class where my average heart rate for 45 minutes was 135. I was sucker punched by a piece of (Marie Callendar) cherry pie I baked for DW.
    2. Today is Rotary. Deep dish pizza on the menu. This day has the best chance of success.

    3/31: 227.8
This round resulted in no change from last day of the previous round. But the 10-day average went down very slightly. Both readings would have been better without the three day bender I went on. Overall I am happy.

    RSW - 131.8lbs
    RGW - 130.8lbs

    Goals -
    1. Eat in calorie limits
    2. Get active
    3. Drink lots of water

    3/22 - DNW
    3/23 - DNW
3/24 - 131.8 lbs. I am tired of losing same weight over and over. Had long work trip, celebrations at home, spring break and just gave up on balanced lifestyle in between these events. After a month of negligence, I am feeling worse and out of control. I feel heavy to sleep at night with heartburns and generally slow and unmotivated during the day. Time to get back on track and stick to the program.

3/25 - 130.9 lbs. Stuck to planned eating and stopped myself as I started to binge. Keeping initial goals easy until I get comfortable with getting on track.

3/26 - 130.3 lbs. Ate planned meals, stuck to healthy carbs, high protein meals, 10K steps and 10c of water

3/27 - 130 lbs. Ate planned meals, stuck to healthy carbs, high protein meals, 10 K steps, 12c water. Avoided sweets and chips at office and avoided drinking socially after hours.

3/28 - 130 lbs. Ate planned meals, did snack a bit unplanned but limited it and kept it healthy, high protein, controlled carbs, 10K steps, 12c water. Need to mkae sure I keep this momentum during weekend.

3/29 - 129.2. Ate planned meals, controlled snacking, fasted for part of the day, 12c water, 10K steps. I feel like this weight drop is inconsistent and might be showing because of fasting. Need to stick to my guns through weekend.

3/30 - 131.3 - Time of month started, ate in limits and ate planned meals, went up by 200 calories, 10K steps, 12 c of water

3/31 - 132.0lbs. Time of the month, feeling bloated and ate junk yesterday which was detrimental to my diet plus consumption of too much sodium. 10K steps, 10 c water.

Well considering I went through the worst illness I have had since 2020, this was a minor miracle I checked in all ten days. I can’t wait for the next challenge to really make some change and ask more of myself.

@chapter_3 you said 99% of the time your imbalances in other areas are the things that trip you up. This is so incredibly true. I am sorry you are going through that but tough love is sometimes the last wall holding someone else up. I hope he will understand and be thankful someday. Stay strong, with kindness.
