Good Afternoon, Friends!
Day 72—11/01— 160.2 - Its been a couple hectic days. My daughter had planned to do Halloween at her apartment....her street does it up big. My ex doesn't do Halloween anymore so I volunteered to do a Halloween at his house. Drove my D to the store for candy then she wanted a pumpkin to carve....LOL! Luckily, the hardware store still had some decent ones left, so I stopped and got one. Helped her carve it....came out good. I had tea lights so we could put a real candle in it. Then I got out my ex's old Halloween decorations and put them out. We didn't get a lot of kids....the neighborhood has changed some over the years. I ended up bringing some candy home, which I will eat sparingly and use the m&m's for Christmas cookies.
Then today she wanted to go to the animal shelter to adopt a cat. So I picked her up and drove her over. She found a very friendly orange tabby named Rupert and decided to get him. She has to wait though...he has URI (common for shelter animals) and has 2 more days on meds and then needs to be re-evaluated by the vet. She will call on Monday and see if he is ready to be released.
I will be happy if I can just maintain my weight for now....but I am still trying to get permanently down into those 150s.
Day 73—11/02— 160.2 - Had a couple scrambled eggs for breakfast. Not sure about lunch....might be a tuna sandwich. Soup for dinner? Maybe. Going to relax and watch the Eagles game today...and crochet. My right leg is bothering me a bit for some reason.
Day 74—11/03— Forgot to weigh.....grrrr...
Day 75—11/04— 160 - Had breakfast out with my friend…that will be my main meal. Will likely have a snack for dinner. Also VOTED! If you have an election in your area and you haven't yet done so, please get out and vote…its your voice.
My daughter adopted a friendly, sweet, male, orange tabby from the local animal shelter. I have an unused pet bed that my dog never used so am going to give that to her. I also helped clean up the bedroom she will be occupying while she is laid up ….will be for several months.
I heard it might hit 70⁰ here tomorrow.

🎯 Started strong and then just got back into the maintain mode. Not complaining since it is lower than my last 209-211 holding pattern. But really want to strive to feeling more comfortable in a bathing suit before cruising in the South Pacific in March. Pep Talk Time! 6 months … half a year! Plenty of time to lose 20-30 pounds if I focus on 5 lbs per month … basically a pound a week. Dedicate the next 24 weeks to breaking through those mental barriers and pushing the holding pattern lower and lower. Next month’s goal … <2039/1: 209.8 / 208.4 - Yikes! Strong & Fit class

I love the variety that they offer and the meals are healthy though the portions are too big. It made it really easy to serve pork loin with butternut squash and Brussels sprouts.
9/10: 207.8 / 207.9 - bike 30 min Today I’m devoting to watercolor and making sure I get on my bike. I had 2 compliments that I’m trimming up (especially the legs) … due to the almost daily bike ride. My hematologist oncologist visit was cancelled for today after they tried for 3 weeks to get insurance approval for the lab work. No reason to see him if we have no lab results to review. When I switch to Medicare in October the lab work will not need approval and will be covered. I guess there is one good thing about turning 65 soon.

11/5: 203.5 / 203.7Okay I slept terrible last night … I ache all over! I think every joint has some point of pain. Even my index finger hurts when using the computer or phone???? Finally crawled out of bed and took some Motrin. Is it the weather changing? Is it sitting in the outside metal chairs because the weather is wonderful? Is it sitting too much? Is it the bike? I'm not sure but something has to change.

Day 71—11/01: 213.0 – Another good Saturday drop, what’s that about? But I’m not complaining! Did a great cardio weights workout and stretch, and I will confess I am BEAT. I maybe worked a little too hard, but tomorrow will do a nature trail with DH for exercise, that will be a little more gentle on my weary bones.
Day 72—11/02: DNW – a really great day with DH, we walked a lovely nature trail – no blue heron sightings this time but still just a lovely walk, and the weather was so warm we stopped by a cute town and sat outside for a light brunch. I made good choices and enjoyed every bite! I was so thrilled to sit outside for what is probably the last day this fall!
Day 73—11/03: 214.0 – a bump up from the weekend loosening of reins, but I’m back on track with a good cardio workout and stretch and will get back to strictness today.
Day 74—11/04: 213.8 – a good cardio weights workout & stretch. Looks like the weekend is hanging around a little longer than I’d like but that’s the price I pay I suppose!
Day 75—11/05: 212.4 – weekend splurge gone! This is my lowest weight since June, and I am determined to keep up the momentum. I worked hard during a cardio workout & stretch, am feeling great.

I don't want to seem like I'm pushing Coach Viva videos. But I really like this one on getting a better sleep routine.

Richa always takes a scientific/analytical approach to things. She goes over how she developed her sleep routine. What I like about their videos, is they don't say "you need to have this sleep routine", but rather they say "this is an approach you can take to figure out a good sleep routine for you".

Visiting with my in-laws yesterday. FIL came home from the hospital last Thursday. It hasn't been going that well. So, we're going as often as we can. We packed a lot into the visit: took my FIL for a 30 minute walk (I pushed his wheelchair), squeezed in a short visit with our newest grand-nephew (great-nephew? It is our nephew's first child), he is 6 weeks old, and arranged a video call with our youngest son and in-laws. We stayed until 5:30, when in-laws go for their dinner. Needless to say, higher IN and lower OUT day.
My 7 day IN trend is heading upward, so I know the scale is going to do the same. Halloween is officially over, I need to refocus. My exercise has been really light. Yesterday I only did 15 minutes of low impact cardio. Now, it is 10:20 and I'm on my computer. I need to change the laundry, then get to my exercise routine.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 74—11/04—183.2 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.8) A huge overnight increase on the scale even though I had a very good day yesterday. It was another “easy” day where I didn’t feel as hungry as normal. My glucose numbers were good and my cravings were low. However, I did not sleep well last night (Fitbit shows total of 2 hrs 50 minutes broken up). No TMI this morning is probably the biggest factor and it was an early weigh-in this morning as I got up earlier than normal due to my travel today. Below are yesterday’s numbers. Hopefully things will settle in over the coming days though I may not weigh tomorrow because I usually need a buffer day after travel.
🦃🦃🦃🦃 Day 75—11/05—184.8 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.9) I wasn’t going to weigh today because our choices yesterday when out of town were never-ending pasta, breadsticks and soup. Olive Garden was a bit of a treat since even our closest faraway towns “up north” where I live don’t have Olive Gardens. I feel like I boxed a lot to take home (ate it later for dinner) and did “okay”. Not great, not too bad. But the stop for ice cream at my son’s request on the way home was totally unnecessary. He held me down and forced it down my throat or I wouldn’t have eaten it. It was quite the public display! Anyway, hopefully some of the fluid retention will drop off in the next day or two. I don’t think the whole 1.6 lb increase is fat. Fingers crossed!

I basically eat half of the amount that I used to, and have limited eating Ribs to once every 3 months instead of once per week. I eat everything, just less of it and/or less often. Day 71—11/01 — 136.6 - Game 7 of the World series tonight! I am working a split, but will have it on at work for the first part of it. I can get home during a commercial and resume watching. It will be a nail biter!
Day 72—11/02 — 136.0 - Classical Music hour on CBC radio, every Sunday morning. It was weird to see it almost light out when I got up, it has been dark for an hour until the time change last night. I have about 30 of the fun size Halloween chocolates. I had one yesterday, I may have one with my lunch during my split break today.
Day 73—11/03 — 136.4 - I am kind of overbooked for this week, I didn't realize until I looked at my calendar. Well, one of those days is the Atlantic Ballet at one of our theatres, so that is great. Tomorrow off and much to do. I need to make sure that I have healthy food ready to go especially for the days that I will be running from one job to the next. I am supposed to be keeping my cut finger dry and clean for 10 days, which is easy at my primary job, but going to be difficult at my auxiliary job.
Day 74—11/04 — 137.6 - No reason for a 1.2 gain. It was my early off work day, so I got another garden bed weeded, cleaned out, carrot rows harvested and the whole thing covered. 2 more beds left to do. I ate early then watched a great show in the tub, "After people" on the History channel. Hopefully today's weight is just a blip. Day off today, so I will eat early again, and then I have late nights for the next 5. Overcast today with rain in the forecast, -3 right now. Planning a nice walk later on when it warms up a bit, even if it is raining.
Day 75—11/05 — 136.4 - Okay, yesterday was just a blip in weight I guess. Btw, I always chew gum when I feel like having more snacks.
When I cut my finger at my secondary job it was from broken glass. I was trying to put a big crate of glasses up on a stack when it slipped and I tried to catch it. I changed the dressing on my finger last night and it is slowly healing. I had tried to catch the crate with my leg, which kind of worked, only 2 glasses broke. The leg has healed, but has a way to go, I figure that once its bruising is gone then my finger will be healed too. I should have taken a photo of it the first day. This is my leg 6 days later.

Day 72—11/01— 160.2 - Its been a couple hectic days. My daughter had planned to do Halloween at her apartment....her street does it up big. My ex doesn't do Halloween anymore so I volunteered to do a Halloween at his house. Drove my D to the store for candy then she wanted a pumpkin to carve....LOL! Luckily, the hardware store still had some decent ones left, so I stopped and got one. Helped her carve it....came out good. I had tea lights so we could put a real candle in it. Then I got out my ex's old Halloween decorations and put them out. We didn't get a lot of kids....the neighborhood has changed some over the years. I ended up bringing some candy home, which I will eat sparingly and use the m&m's for Christmas cookies.
Then today she wanted to go to the animal shelter to adopt a cat. So I picked her up and drove her over. She found a very friendly orange tabby named Rupert and decided to get him. She has to wait though...he has URI (common for shelter animals) and has 2 more days on meds and then needs to be re-evaluated by the vet. She will call on Monday and see if he is ready to be released.
I will be happy if I can just maintain my weight for now....but I am still trying to get permanently down into those 150s.
Day 73—11/02— 160.2 - Had a couple scrambled eggs for breakfast. Not sure about lunch....might be a tuna sandwich. Soup for dinner? Maybe. Going to relax and watch the Eagles game today...and crochet. My right leg is bothering me a bit for some reason.

Day 75—11/04— 160 - Had breakfast out with my friend…that will be my main meal. Will likely have a snack for dinner. Also VOTED! If you have an election in your area and you haven't yet done so, please get out and vote…its your voice.
My daughter adopted a friendly, sweet, male, orange tabby from the local animal shelter. I have an unused pet bed that my dog never used so am going to give that to her. I also helped clean up the bedroom she will be occupying while she is laid up ….will be for several months.
I heard it might hit 70⁰ here tomorrow.
Day 76—11/05— 160.2 - Up and down....up and down. This is what happened years ago when I got to 160....couldn't seem to break through that number. Not giving up, though.
My daughter asked if I could pick up some groceries for her....she wanted to make soup....so I did that. Also did her laundry and remade her bed with clean sheets. Her surgery is tomorrow....hoping all goes well with it.
My EBT is being reduced....by $2. Where they got THAT number at is anyone's guess. But since I am not getting anything right now anyway, so its kinda silly.
Had a Wawa Gobbler bowl for brunch and some rotisserie chicken for dinner. That's pretty much it for today.

Day 71—11/01: 213.0 – Another good Saturday drop, what’s that about? But I’m not complaining! Did a great cardio weights workout and stretch, and I will confess I am BEAT. I maybe worked a little too hard, but tomorrow will do a nature trail with DH for exercise, that will be a little more gentle on my weary bones.
Day 72—11/02: DNW – a really great day with DH, we walked a lovely nature trail – no blue heron sightings this time but still just a lovely walk, and the weather was so warm we stopped by a cute town and sat outside for a light brunch. I made good choices and enjoyed every bite! I was so thrilled to sit outside for what is probably the last day this fall!
Day 73—11/03: 214.0 – a bump up from the weekend loosening of reins, but I’m back on track with a good cardio workout and stretch and will get back to strictness today.
Day 74—11/04: 213.8 – a good cardio weights workout & stretch. Looks like the weekend is hanging around a little longer than I’d like but that’s the price I pay I suppose!
Day 75—11/05: 212.4 – weekend splurge gone! This is my lowest weight since June, and I am determined to keep up the momentum. I worked hard during a cardio workout & stretch, am feeling great.
Day 76—11/06: 211.4 – another big drop! Let’s see if that holds through tomorrow. Did a good cardio workout and stretch, feeling strong. DD23 is coming for a visit and we’re going to have a little early Thanksgiving celebration this weekend since she can’t come for the holiday – I’m going to make her favorites and stick to the turkey & vegetables. Wish me luck! 😏

Good day yesterday. Went over on IN calories. Exercised. Did not walk the dog. Did housecleaning including, vacuuming, mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms. 7 day trend weight went back above 140. I'm tired of hovering between 142 and 138, I know I am in control and I let Halloween take over.

Day 76—11/06 — 135.2 - That is welcome! I had hummus and water crackers for dinner last night because I felt like it was too late to eat a meal. I also had some carrot wedges baked in the toaster oven. They were just okay, still tasted like carrots instead of french fries lol. I have a whole bucket of carrots on my porch, thinking of trying some carrot pakora or carrot fritters. Not a whole lot of time available for cooking, but I should soon at least peel, cook, and freeze them until I figure out what I want to do with them. There is one more patch to dig up, and 2 patches of beets. I did dig a few beets on my day off, peeled them and baked them in the toaster oven. I have been having a few forkfuls with lunch each day, I enjoy the colour when I go to the bathroom 😅

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. We can’t control the ingredients in restaurant food so portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 75—11/05—184.8 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.9) I wasn’t going to weigh today because our choices yesterday when out of town were never-ending pasta, breadsticks and soup. Olive Garden was a bit of a treat since even our closest faraway towns “up north” where I live don’t have Olive Gardens. I feel like I boxed a lot to take home (ate it later for dinner) and did “okay”. Not great, not too bad. But the stop for ice cream at my son’s request on the way home was totally unnecessary. He held me down and forced it down my throat or I wouldn’t have eaten it. It was quite the public display! Anyway, hopefully some of the fluid retention will drop off in the next day or two. I don’t think the whole 1.6 lb increase is fat. Fingers crossed!
🦃🦃🦃 Day 76—11/06—185.0 ❌ (Trend Weight: 184.0) Every time I even get CLOSE to the number 179.9 or even 180.0 I grab my “stuff” and run the other way. It’s like 180.0 is the Great Wall Of China, so long that I just can’t get around and something I could never scale either! It’s like it is a trigger for me! These last couple of days I have spiraled. But knowledge is power so I am going to try to go forward with bravery!

Day 72—11/01— 160.2 - Its been a couple hectic days. My daughter had planned to do Halloween at her apartment....her street does it up big. My ex doesn't do Halloween anymore so I volunteered to do a Halloween at his house. Drove my D to the store for candy then she wanted a pumpkin to carve....LOL! Luckily, the hardware store still had some decent ones left, so I stopped and got one. Helped her carve it....came out good. I had tea lights so we could put a real candle in it. Then I got out my ex's old Halloween decorations and put them out. We didn't get a lot of kids....the neighborhood has changed some over the years. I ended up bringing some candy home, which I will eat sparingly and use the m&m's for Christmas cookies.
Then today she wanted to go to the animal shelter to adopt a cat. So I picked her up and drove her over. She found a very friendly orange tabby named Rupert and decided to get him. She has to wait though...he has URI (common for shelter animals) and has 2 more days on meds and then needs to be re-evaluated by the vet. She will call on Monday and see if he is ready to be released.
I will be happy if I can just maintain my weight for now....but I am still trying to get permanently down into those 150s.
Day 73—11/02— 160.2 - Had a couple scrambled eggs for breakfast. Not sure about lunch....might be a tuna sandwich. Soup for dinner? Maybe. Going to relax and watch the Eagles game today...and crochet. My right leg is bothering me a bit for some reason.
Day 74—11/03— Forgot to weigh.....grrrr...
Day 75—11/04— 160 - Had breakfast out with my friend…that will be my main meal. Will likely have a snack for dinner. Also VOTED! If you have an election in your area and you haven't yet done so, please get out and vote…its your voice.
My daughter adopted a friendly, sweet, male, orange tabby from the local animal shelter. I have an unused pet bed that my dog never used so am going to give that to her. I also helped clean up the bedroom she will be occupying while she is laid up ….will be for several months.
I heard it might hit 70⁰ here tomorrow.
Day 76—11/05— 160.2 - Up and down....up and down. This is what happened years ago when I got to 160....couldn't seem to break through that number. Not giving up, though.
My daughter asked if I could pick up some groceries for her....she wanted to make soup....so I did that. Also did her laundry and remade her bed with clean sheets. Her surgery is tomorrow....hoping all goes well with it.
My EBT is being reduced....by $2. Where they got THAT number at is anyone's guess. But since I am not getting anything right now anyway, its kinda silly.
Had a Wawa Gobbler bowl for brunch and some rotisserie chicken for dinner. That's pretty much it for today.
Day 77—11/06— 159.8 - Well....that number is nice to see. Not a lot but still under that 160 mark. Probably from the many trips up and down stairs at my ex's yesterday. Its that easy.
I ordered a stuffed dog that has a cast on its leg and a crutch for my daughter as little gift....I think she'll like it.

🎯 Started strong and then just got back into the maintain mode. Not complaining since it is lower than my last 209-211 holding pattern. But really want to strive to feeling more comfortable in a bathing suit before cruising in the South Pacific in March. Pep Talk Time! 6 months … half a year! Plenty of time to lose 20-30 pounds if I focus on 5 lbs per month … basically a pound a week. My hematologist oncologist visit was cancelled for today after they tried for 3 weeks to get insurance approval for the lab work. No reason to see him if we have no lab results to review. When I switch to Medicare in October the lab work will not need approval and will be covered. I guess there is one good thing about turning 65 soon.

11/7: 205.1 / 204.2 - WHOA I knew it would be badGot a call Wed morning from my DIL. My son is out of town and she has a sick baby 6 months and an almost 4 yr old. She was exhausted up all night and called for help. So I went Wed morning and didn't return home until Thursday early evening. No exercise. Plus her choices for meals Wed lunch brisket mac & cheese, Wed dinner Chinese take out, Thurs breakfast scrambled eggs and cinnamon toast, Thurs lunch shrimp tacos and nachos. Then when I got home exhausted DH made frozen pizza for dinner. I know why I gained and it is my own fault for not pushing for healthier options. Some of it might be salt and water weight but no matter what I need to eat clean today!!
So much damage in so little time!!! Time to buckle up butter cup … we are going to stay focused this weekend on better food choices.

Day 71—11/01: 213.0 – Another good Saturday drop, what’s that about? But I’m not complaining! Did a great cardio weights workout and stretch, and I will confess I am BEAT. I maybe worked a little too hard, but tomorrow will do a nature trail with DH for exercise, that will be a little more gentle on my weary bones.
Day 72—11/02: DNW – a really great day with DH, we walked a lovely nature trail – no blue heron sightings this time but still just a lovely walk, and the weather was so warm we stopped by a cute town and sat outside for a light brunch. I made good choices and enjoyed every bite! I was so thrilled to sit outside for what is probably the last day this fall!
Day 73—11/03: 214.0 – a bump up from the weekend loosening of reins, but I’m back on track with a good cardio workout and stretch and will get back to strictness today.
Day 74—11/04: 213.8 – a good cardio weights workout & stretch. Looks like the weekend is hanging around a little longer than I’d like but that’s the price I pay I suppose!
Day 75—11/05: 212.4 – weekend splurge gone! This is my lowest weight since June, and I am determined to keep up the momentum. I worked hard during a cardio workout & stretch, am feeling great.
Day 76—11/06: 211.4 – another big drop! Let’s see if that holds through tomorrow. Did a good cardio workout and stretch, feeling strong. DD23 is coming for a visit and we’re going to have a little early Thanksgiving celebration this weekend since she can’t come for the holiday – I’m going to make her favorites and stick to the turkey & vegetables. Wish me luck ha ha
Day 77—11/07: 211.0 – kind of crazy, I’m on a good roll this week! Did a 20 min cardio workout & stretch

This week went well. No candy happened. No kids come to our building, so we haven't purchased candy in years. I don't have much of a sweet tooth anyway, so the candy bowl at work looked unappealing, so I'm lucky in that respect. My workouts are going well.

@deepwoodslady re “Every time I even get CLOSE to the number 179.9 or even 180.0 I grab my “stuff” and run the other way. It’s like 180.0 is the Great Wall Of China, so long that I just can’t get around and something I could never scale either! It’s like it is a trigger for me!” This is exactly how I feel right now. Let's both hunker down and climb that wall together!

@dawnbgethealthy re “I did dig a few beets on my day off, peeled them and baked them in the toaster oven. I have been having a few forkfuls with lunch each day, I enjoy the colour when I go to the bathroom 😅” I’m with you. I love beets. Mother nature broom stick PLUS so many vitamins and minerals. To my mind, they are a ‘superfood’, but they never seem to make the trendy superfood lists. Ever fall my husband buys a 10 or 20lb bag of them. They keep well. He also does a quick ‘pickling’ and we put them on salad. They are also fabulous roasted… So sweet.

@Lilylady3k You are so fortunate that your son and DIL live close enough that you could be there so quickly AND that your DIL feels comfortable to call you for help. I can honestly say that I would not have called my MIL for help in the same situation. Don't worry about a couple of days of less than ideal food choices. Rejoice in being able to spend time with your grandchildren, even when they are sick. Those moments are precious.
