I began using this app on October 5th. My mini goal right now is to drink more water every day. When I was working, I drank water regularly but not enough. As for exercise I used to walk 10-11,000 steps per day at work and went to the gym 3-4 times per week. Then my husband of 23 years died. I was his caregiver for 15+ years. I haven't wanted to do much of anything since his passing in October, 2023.

I think I have turned a corner. I made the decision last week to start taking care of me now. Since the 5th I have been drinking 3-5 17oz bottles of water per day and counting calories. I began the Mediterranean food plan right after he passed and am keeping in line with the "healthy" eating aspect pretty well. I need to learn how to stay within a reasonable amount of calories. My next important goal is regular attendance at the gym and fine tune the calorie thing. 💪Wish me luck!!

Good Luck! 🍀🤞✨ Sorry to hear about your loss, that is tough. Congratulations on now taking care of yourself!

One little goal at a time is the right way to do it.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband in 2023. If you were his caretaker for 15 years, I'm sure his passing brought many complicated emotions (and probably continues to do so). Good on you for turning your attention to yourself. Water consumption is such a hit-or-miss thing for me. I've found that keeping lemon or lime slices in my water bottle and making sure the water is kept nice and cold have made it more palatable to me and make me less likely to get a Diet Mountain Dew from the vending machine.

I'm a stranger in Missouri, wishing you the best of luck!

You are still a caregiver only now your patient is you! I too have been through caregiving family, loss and, in renewal, am learning to bring some of those skills into taking care of myself. Sometimes it sounds and feels selfish to do, especially if we're used to spending energy on others. But, actually, if we're healthy ourselves? It helps prevent our becoming a caregiving case for others later on. So enlightened self-interest, I think! Best of luck with it all!
