    I think it looks cool and is practical but because of the cultural significance it carries it would be inappropriate to wear one if you don't have the cultural background.

    Wearing a kilt and getting away with it is ALL in the attitude and presentation... It's NOT for the meek, and yeah, it might look a little out of place on some people, but only YOU can decide if you can pull off a kilt.

    OH MY GOD YES. My husband's great grandmother was from Ireland, and I have Irish roots on my mom's side as well. We were there in 2009 and I'm still hanging on to the fantasy of a vow renewal ceremony there at some point - most definitely with my husband in a kilt.

    I tried to get him to buy one at the Rennaissance Faire over the summer, but no dice. Not even the promise of getting lucky would change his mind. Le sigh...

    Saw a guy locally wearing one of those utilikilts. He looked completely natural in it - stocky guy, built like a bull. If you want to wear one go for it.
