Fresh corn from our garden this summer made life worth living.

    I *puffy pink heart* CORN!
  • At first, I gave up eating corn because it is an addictive food for me: tamales, sweet corn, tortillas, etc.
I no longer eat corn or anything made with corn because
    1) It causes me binge.
    2) If it is grown from Monsanto (or any subsidiary) seed, it is not healthy for ANYONE.

Please do your research. Only three countries in Europe allow Monsanto Corn seeds.

  • High-glycemic doesn't always mean bad and if it's organic corn then it's fine.
  • Ah, the Internet ... reliably producing lies and half truths since it's inception.

    Troll post. Pretty obvious.
Mine from the other night was so much more entertaining.

Would that be the chucking a carton of icecream at boyfriends unsupportive crotch one? Yea, that was 5 star.
    That's the one.

    Aww. I missed that one.

That's not because they're concerned about the healthfulness of Monsanto corn, it's because Europe has its own agri-pharma giant selling its own GMO corn for over 15 years already.

    It ain't "eco", it's protectionism.

    Research indeed!

there is no scientific category known as vegetable. mostly colloquial.
tomatoes are fruit. eggplants are gourds. cabbage is leaves, etc.
what does corn being a grain have to do with anything... ?

. I like to eat foods that are food, and anything that produces its own pesticides isn't a food to me.

I thought that a lot of plants, nuts, seeds naturally produce their own pesticide. Most seeds and fruits have naturally occurring salycilic acid (Aspirin) which is a natural mild pesticide and of course has been used for many years by people.

My son has a salycilic acid sensitive, I remember doing lots of research many many years ago.

Isn't corn a whole grain? Aren't whole grains supposed to be good for you?

no, that's what the agricultural world wants us to believe .

    OMFG. :noway:

    This farmer has no words.

Corn is a starchy vegetable that provides a decent amount of fiber.

My brother, the diabetic, always has to count corn as a starch or a grain.

Corn in in my ketchup, you can pry my ketchup covered corn on the cob from my cold dead fingers. Which if your correct should be in a few days.

The very best corn on the cob I ever had was in a small village in China. I was walking through the open market and there was a stand where the guy dipped the corn in a very spicy oil then grilled it over an open fire and sprinkled it with.....something...I dunno. But it was amazing!

    Yep.
"The word "vegetable" was first recorded in English in the 15th century,[6] and originally applied to any plant. This is still the sense of the adjective "vegetable" in biological context.[7] In 1767, the meaning of the term "vegetable" was specified to mean "plant cultivated for food, edible herb or root."

Corn is also used to FATTEN the animals that we eat quickly so that the seller can sell it quicker.

Hmm.....I don't know if I want to eat something that is used to FATTEN anything.

Fatten? if a cow was fat, it wouldn't bring much at market. Animal feed has corn as only one component. It is blended to produce the proper amount of lean/marbled muscle mass in as fast a time as possible, so the farmer can maximize his return on investment like any business wants to.
