Corn is also used to FATTEN the animals that we eat quickly so that the seller can sell it quicker.
Hmm.....I don't know if I want to eat something that is used to FATTEN anything.
Fatten? if a cow was fat, it wouldn't bring much at market. Animal feed has corn as only one component. It is blended to produce the proper amount of lean/marbled muscle mass in as fast a time as possible, so the farmer can maximize his return on investment like any business wants to.

Corn is a grain and is not good for you..
It's a high-glycemic grain
Of course, that's why they feed it to pigs.

Hey remember that time someone with no understanding of nutritional science started a thread on the internet
....and then instead of having a discussion a lot of people decided to be condescending instead so the whole thing just sorta went down hill because everyone was wrong and no one was right but everyone thought they knew better than everyone else even though they had no understanding of nutritional science either.
Yeah....vaguely. lol0 -
I could tell you a little story about corn that a male friend of mine told me once..but not sure if it would be acceptable fodder on MFP
But it put him off corn forever0 -
Corn is amazing.
It's delicious going in, and looks almost the same coming out.0 -

- One medium-sized ear of corn provides over 10% of our daily requirement for dietary fiber.
- Studies have shown that a high intake of lutein and zeaxanthin is associated with a significant reduction in the risk of a chronic eye disease called macular degeneration. Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) is not some obscure medical condition - it is the leading cause of legal blindness among the elderly. According to the National Eye Institute, 6.5% of the population over 40 has symptoms of ARMD, for which there is no cure.
- Lutein and zeaxanthin may also play a role in slowing the development of cataracts. Since lutein and zeaxanthin are the only carotenoids detectable in the lens, researchers believe that these powerful antioxidants may protect the clear proteins in the lens from undergoing the oxidation that causes them to become cloudy.
- Corn contains beta-cryptoxanthin, another cousin of vitamin A that is being studied for its possible role in slowing bone loss associated with aging, reducing the risk of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis as well as various forms of cancer, especially lung cancer.
- Corn is a good source of the vitamin folate that supports cardiovascular health and significantly reduces the risk of neural tube birth defects.
- Corn contributes thiamin (vitamin B1) that helps the body’s cells convert carbohydrates into energy. It is also essential for the proper functioning of the heart, muscles, and nervous system

Corn is NOT a healthy food and tells the body to process sugars in a not-so-healthy way (putting it simply). I lost 55 pounds between January and July of this year and corn was one of the foods I avoided. Even though my favorite snack is popcorn. Stay away from corn, processed soy products and of course, sugars.0

Whole corn is a vegetable. We cannot process the fibre in it down to a high enough level to get many calories from it. That is why cultures that eat corn as a staple grind it. It is a grain/starch if ground or popped.0

Corn is a grain and is not good for you..
It's a high-glycemic grain
Lol. Well, if you are concerned with your glycemic count, then it's probably a food to limit or eliminate. If you are not, it probably doesn't matter. Although I believe it's true glycemic level increases the longer you wait to eat it after picking. I believe freshly picked corn (like that day) is much lower.
With that said, most corn I believe is gmo, so I will only eat organic.
Eta: and no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, will ever come between me and my popcorn!
You know that something organic can still be gmo right? organic is how its grown, gmo is how it is spliced.0 -

No. I've eaten corn all my life and never became 55 lbs overweight. So, to put it simply, my evidence is stronger.0 -

It depends on how you define "organic". If it's certified organic by the USDA, then it's not GMO.0 -
A bowl of frozen corn in the summer is as sweet as ice cream ^__^ yum~
OMG! Have you tried Cauliflower ice cream? NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!

I'm regularly eating corn and dropping 3 pounds a week. So there.0 -

If it has become genetically modified (such as with cross-pollination) it can no longer be classified as organic.
The GMO corn grown is actually classified as a pesticide.0 -
