It may not be that you ruined your metabolism on 800 calories/day, but you may have made your intestines lazy by not using them.
Chewing gum can help by triggering peristalsis (the contraction of your bowels).
You could also be intolerant to something you're eating. Eg. lactose intolerance doesn't just cause the runs, it can do the opposite too. Good luck.

Ditto my daughter was treated for over a year for severe constipation and when she got novovirus at 18 months old we got to keep her dairy for 6 weeks and it cleared up. As soon as the doc said it was fine to go back on she started with the same problem and the docs said to keep her off it totally now ( and no issues since)

Go see a doctor as soon as possible. Do not wait until you've tried all the advice you can get from non-medically trained strangers on the Internet. Don't just tell the doctor you're constipated. Tell him or her how infrequently you move your bowels, and how long it has been going on, and how much you may have used laxatives in the past, and how much or little you really are eating.

Pooping 3 times a month is definitely not okay. A healthy pooper goes at least 2 to 3 times a day. I would call your doctor.

2 to 3 times a day???....crikey...scarey...must remember to check into the nearest er place....I cant be normal!!!

I don't have a solution but the same thing happened to me as soon as I started eating healthy. I got a colonoscopy and everthing. They didn't find anything. It's still off and on and I can't figure out why. Stool softeners don't work and laxatives hurt my stomach. Try eating prunes or drinking prune juice.

Have you tried metamucil? That and a little Aloe juice to reduce inflammation will work wonders.

Are you eating lots of dietary fat?

Seriously, adequate dietary fat is a "miracle" cure for this problem.

ETA: And a lot of people, when they start "eating healthy", cut way back on dietary fat.

Such as olive oil and avocado and stuff? Not really. Only occasionally...I get SmartBalance oil blend and Smart Balance with flax butter. Rarely use olive oil...I'll try this and see if it helps. Thanks!

You need to see a doctor, right now. I'm a nurse and it's not natural at all to only go 3 times a month, you need to get your intestines checked out, you may have a blockage of some sort. If you are exercising that much, and drinking that many clear liquids, and taking laxatives, stool softeners, etc. and nothing is working, see your doctor! Perhaps a colonoscopy is in order, take care of yourself:)

one of your issues is 800 calories a day? Pure starvation mode-not smart! 1200 should be as low as you go! Mix it up with beans, fiber-bananas are a great source!

In my younger years I suffered with ulcerative colitis...I had trouble pooping. I got it under control by eating healthy and drinking lots of water. I had meds also.

My suggestion is see a doctor as you may have a medical condition.

The internet is great and you always have people giving you advice...but if you need medical advice, then the internet is not the best source xx

If people went to the doctor every time something didn't work quite right in their bodies...

    ...oh wait, they already do.

Shakeology cures constipation and promotes regularity???

Is there nothing this wonder-elixir doesn't do???

It may not even have anything to do with what you're eating or not eating. That is an extremely low amount of times to go a month, please see a doctor.

Consult a gastroenterologist, laxatives and enemas are temporary solution the problem. It'll be a problem if a day comes when you are dependant on enemas and laxatives for pooping...

I used to have the same problem (but not as severe as yours). I started finding out what was the food that was causing it an slowly eliminated it.

If "Ayurvedic" treatment are available there, then consider having a "panchakarma". Google it to know more. :)

This, I had the same issue and had to go to a gi specialist, found out it was food also

what food was causing your issues
