Hello, am at 1200 per day as well. It is much harder than I anticipated but I am hoping it will be worth it. How was the year prior to Dec., did you find it hard to maintain the 1200? Do exercise as well?0

add me twice I'm at 22600

Repeating for emphasis.
I'll share my story.
I picked 2lbs a week for my loss rate and MFP gave me 1200cals. I was 5'7" and 167-172pounds.
I ate 1200 cals. And exercised. But didn't eat back those calories. So i was netting less than 1000 cals a day. I lost weight. And muscle mass (which is bad btw). And I was kinda cranky. And hit a plateau at 150#.
I read and lurked and upped my cals to 1500. The weight fell off and I was much happier. Upped to 1800and added weight training, life is so much better.
Don't suffer on 1200 cals when you could lose weight on more.0 -

Feel free to add me. MFP set my calorie need at 1200 - my doctor calculated it more like 900-1000 but I'm typically closer to 1200 or slightly over. (I'm petite and work at a sedentary job - so yes, my doctor calculated my calorie need correctly).0

I exercise when I feel like itwalk instead of most other transport, recently started strength training to tone, when I was doing 1200 mostly, It was completely fine except maybe right before bed I would feel hungry, but I got more and more used to it because my stomach got smaller. but with December eating I need to get used to it again xD I tend to eat back half of my exercise calories. Lost a lot of weight on it.

I lost most of my weight on 1550 NET calories (ie 1750 or so total a day). I was never hungry, never fell off the wagon, didn't lose a bunch of muscle mass, and didn't regain the weight like so many do.
Read the sexy-pants link as well as this one:

1200 calories is not enough for 95% of you guys. It's unhealthy and hard to maintain. Damaging your metabolisms by losing muscle is NOT a good thing, and you will be unhappy to boot! Do it the right way once, rather than the fast way over and over and over...and over...0 -
