just got back from apple and peach picking... yeah... good thing i don't usually log on weekends... probably about 3,000 cal in apples and peaches right there.
Did they have to roll you home? Because wow, that would be a lot ofpeaces and apples! It doesn't get warm enough here to grow many peaches, though some try. We get some really good apples, though!

I hope is stays grey and rainy...this day sleeper loooves that!
It's soccer, not baseball. They play in the rain, cold and everything except lightning.
That is what her dad says and he was a soccer kid!

Man, when I was very little, we had an orchard on one of the farms we lived on. Apples, peaches, plums, pears and cherries. I remember taking all of the old fallen apples and we'd bring them to the cider mill to get them pressed. It was sooo cool! Or maybe I was a big nerd. We'd have a truck full of gallons of cider for the extended family. Good times....0

Hey, I made it to the gym this morning! Yay! *pats self on back*
We had a cherry orchard where we lived when I was a kid, but we would usually get a late freeze that would prevent us from getting any fruit. It was so beautiful when the blooms were out, I remember walking among the trees, and the wind would gust just right as the blooms were falling, it would look like it was snowing. We also had some apple trees, and my mom would make apple sauce and butter every year.0 -
oh, man...we had a trio of apple trees down behind my grandparent's house, and i spent HOURS in the top of the one closest to the road, just sitting there and letting the hours pass by watching the occasional car or truck come up or down the road.
good times.0 -

I miss climbing trees but the last time I did, on the way down, I fell a bit and a newer, younger tree was trying to grow right next to the one I was climbing. It skewered me in the right @$$ cheek....I still have the scar.
The most shocking part for everyone about this story is that I was STONE COLD SOBER....Apparently, adults don't climb trees unless they are inebriated?

That's 'cause adults are boring...usually.0

truth, @jennifer_417.
@lilaclovebird - it's funny how the things that seem to get us in the most trouble happen when NO alcohol is involved, isn't it?
there's a certain amount of abandon that we have as kids that we lose when we get older and fear creeps into the equation...and sometimes, i think that fear actually makes us TOO cautious, sometimes.0 -
When I was 17...I rolled a Suburban...I was completely sober. The night before, I had drove from the main street of my small town to a friends' house since I was drunk and thought I was being responsible not driving out in the country to get home. I cringe when I look back at the things my dumba$$ younger self did...stuff that I wouldn't DREAM of doing now! At least I learned...some never do...0

it's not a constant truth, but sometimes I think we're capable of doing a LOT more damage when we're sober than we're capable of when we're under the influence. generally, when i'm having a few cocktails (like tonight, for instance...not that there's anything wrong with that.. ) - i'm not interested in doing anything crazy or dangerous. I know that I'm not typical in that respect, though. But hey - it takes all kinds. Me? I'm doing laundry and watching classic TV shows...and hanging with you guys, of course.
are you guys working? are you just awake for no reason? what are you guys up to tonight?

I'm at work, but I'm also mostly trying to stay OFF the internet so I can catch up on some of my reading for class...this, obviously, has only been intermittently successful...0
-
I'm working...or AT work...not necessarily "working".0
-
how much reading do you have to catch up on? me...i'm walking through my house with a legal pad on a clipboard, making notes for what needs to be done, and when...i'm 100% in "move mode" now, and planning everything so we can do this in a somewhat organized fashion. BUT - I'm also doing laundry and intermittently watching "When Harry Met Sally" as I walk through the living room on occasion.
you and @Frankie_Felinius may be the last two regular participants in this thread that might possibly still be awake.
and on a saturday night, no less!

I have almost 5 chapters left, between my various classes.
And yeah, we're a fun bunch, aren't we?0 -

People react to alcohol differently.
I always hear and observe how people become more open when drinking. Me? I'm antisocial to begin with... you have to pull teeth to get me to engage in conversation. Want to see me shut up completely (as if it were even possible)? Hand me a drink.0 -
When I drink, I either want to do things with power tools (looking at you Wine) OR I want to go for a jog/run (glares at Tequila). If I drink bourbon, I tend to want to just lay around. Vodka makes me wanna dance and I'm allergic to Gin. Generally, I don't drink beer.
I'm at work. I'm largely on the computers and watching my security cameras and the c-cure monitoring client in between my rounds of walking/driving the campus. I spend a LOT of time on YouTube and perusing the forums on MFP.

Well I don't need you to be talking to be useful...
Sorry...a little sex deprived..I need a new toy. I would buy one BUT my car decided to go into full 'freak out, no starting for you or anyone else' b*tch mode. So I have to pay for that first..0 -

is this a hard and fast rule? meaning, no matter who your company is, this is you, no matter what?
because it varies with me, depending on who I find myself spending time with....0 -

you're pretty self-aware, ma'am...to have specific traits assigned to specific drinks. i pretty much go to the same places, do matter what i'm drinking. however, i've largely sworn off beer since getting on the fitness kick. i was harboring the misconception that liquor had less calories than beer (which, let's be honest, is probably true), and now i've kinda gotten in the habit of sticking to either Captain Morgan or George Dickel. my horizons are woefully limited.0 -

I'm a mild introvert. It takes me a while to warm and open up to new people. Alcohol usually melts away my shyness and I become more social and outgoing. According to some of my friends who have been around me when I drink. I've been told I am a happy drunk, I get giggly, finding the most random things funny and that I want to dance with everyone. The dancing thing is the most surprising thing for me since I rarely do it sober.

Yes, pretty much that's what happens every time, not that it happens often, I meet up with some high school buds like once or twice a year on a major holiday.
@lilaclovebird I don't need to drink to want to do things with power tools I get one in my hand and I start going about the house grunting like a caveman, Tim Allen style.0 -
It is my Tuesday...but it is kinda quiet for a "Saturday"...
When I drink, I definitely get social. I used to be a social butterfly, would talk to anyone, no issues with personal space or eye contact. Nowadays, I'm pretty cloistered in my own head when I'm out in public. Head down so people won't try to initiate conversation, people who know me know I don't like people too close to me. Well...get a drink or two in me...I won't start up a convo with anyone but I will participate if I have something I want to say...which normally I'd just keep my mouth shut. I'm VERY outspoken but typically don't volunteer my opinion unless provoked/asked, etc. The bar we go to is a nanobrewery with a pretty regular patrons. One Bloody Sunday I was up there drinking bloody marys (is that correct plural?) and this pair of dudes that frequents the place asked if I wanted to play pool. Normally, sober me would say no but I actually played pool with 'em because I was inebriated. Another time I was up there on a Friday night and a pair of non-regulars came up to me. One dude who looked like Kumar was trying to buy me a drink and I said no thanks. I ordered my beer and he slid his card to the bartender as I slid my card over...luckily the bartenders know me and my fiance well and took my card. Kumar kept trying to hit on me and I was annoyed at this point because I had expressed disinterest. His buddy started talking to me (clarifying he wasn't going to be a weirdo like his friend) and asked about my hair as HE TOUCHED IT. Number one...don't touch pinups' hair. Number two...don't touch strange girls' hair. But since I was under the influence...I just went with the flow. Sober me probably would have smacked his hand. I was down at a show once with my girlfriends at the time (they love me drunk because all personal space goes out the window and I'm all handsy...I'm like the fancy porcelain doll that you aren't supposed to touch...but then you get to and it is exciting) and they were sitting on one side of the booth, I alone on the other. Some guy came over to talk to one of the girls and asked if he could sit next to me, which I was already half sauced so I said yes. Half hour later, another broad we know squeezes in and I'm thigh to thigh with this strange dude AND I'm trapped against the wall...but I was having a good ol' time...thank-you booze...couldn't have done it without ya...
As for WHAT I drink. Huge beer nerd/snob so typically beer. When I cheat on beer...I dig margs, bourbon and ginger ale or Squirt, whiskey sours, Moscow mules, sometimes red wine...and my big shame...Lime-a-ritas! Being beer nerds/snobs...we don't have Bud products in our home...but I love those damn things. The first time I bought it my fiance took a pic and posted it on IG and called me out, lol. Whatever. I drink what I enjoy...0 -

This. And I will try anything twice. Just to make sure I like/don't like it.0 -
I love that quote.
Reminds me of one of my favorite song lyrics for some reason...
"It won't make it better...but I wanna make sure."
Can be taken either way...either you want to try, hoping it will make things better or you'll try anyway, knowing it won't. This particular song is referencing drinking away the pain of lost love...but I can relate to it in many aspects of life...especially doing the same effed up things over and over...0 -

I actually only learned that from my ex-husband. It's what got me into....stuff...0 -
