And I, @lilaclovebird, am a Public Safety Officer for MD Anderson Cancer Center under the University of Texas Police Department-Houston.
ETA: For short: I'm a PSO.
Thanks for filling me in! I'm in Houston too!
Damn I have the less cool job out of everyone here! I'm a manager at hungry jacks in Australia (Burger King for you Americans) I'm currently stuck in bed with a cold. I'm meant to work again tonight but I'm trying to get out of it0 -
So the hubs has been having some neck pain for about a year and thought it was from a rear-end accident he'd been involved in years ago. Then he started having left arm tingles and weakness, then right leg issues.
Long story short, he has a tumor on his spine in the neck region. He had an MRI Thursday morning and they wanted him to do another one with dye injected and he couldn't; the MRI freaked him out bad. So Monday, I'll go with him, they gave him a script for one Xanax (lol) and he'll have the dye injected and another MRI.
Then he'll be referred to a neurologist and we'll go from there.
I'm at work tonight. The slacker had to work this evening to and went on in. I'm doing alright, besides having trouble concentrating. I'd so rather be home but it's my weekend off starting at 530 so I'll be good.
In other news, today was personnel problem's last day. I can go to days whenever I want to. I finish training one of the new girls Tuesday night so we'll see. I'll think on it this weekend.0 -
Another night. Another $.50. I don't think I could so day shift though. Especially working at a hospital.

My last night off. Back to work tomorrow.
@bethanie0825 - Really sorry about the tumor on Hubs spine. Keep us posted.1 -

YAY! And sad.
Sorry about your hubby. I hope it just requires a little bit of surgery and then everything goes code 4.
You will be missed if you go to days, but if it's best for your family then I say go for it.
I, personally, would LOVE to move to evening shift.
Unfortunately, I'm working overtime tonight because one of our nightshifters was rearended. Hoping he'll be back on Saturday BUT he just got back from recovering from back surgery a few months ago.
So we may need to hire TWO new people which makes me feel a little yucky because just hiring one has taken forever. On one side, I hope he is okay and can return to work. On the other side, I hope he realizes that he's 63, with a host of health issues and he should probably file for disability and retire.
I have other PSO's telling me I need to take the IAHSS Basic test in a hurry so I can apply for a SPSO position(it's a raise and more work but whatever) so that another colleague can get demoted because she is failing at everything right now.
She lost her husband in the beginning of May, of COURSE she is failing at everything. If she had the time to take off, I would say let her take the time off. But she's been weaseling her way to get a bunch of people to do things for her all the time and we're getting tired of it and I get it, people want her to just go away, but that isn't going to happen. It takes A LOT to get fired around here, using people and having a *kitten* personality isn't even on the list.0 -
I am not going to make it another 3 hours. Struggling to stay awake. Bored AF.0
-
Girl. I feel ya. I'm like doing the head bob half fall asleep thing...0
-
I NEVER get tired on shift. Tonight, not even Netflix is working.0
-
Work in an ER/Trauma center.. people bring junk all night long0
-
I know. Tonight there was a party for a great fiscal year. Chick Fil A and then cake on top of it.0
-
My coworker's bday was Wednesday and another coworker brought in ice cream cake
I've been trying not to eat my feelings but I kinda failed. Still logged it all!0 -
Man I was stress eating all week. We switched equipment and software on the same week. Nothing like an ER that is stressing over how to get people checked in and checked out and get all the lab tests run and records written. I just decided to go for Cold Stone and I'll fix the stress eating later.1
-
A crazy night coming back to work. This software change is not going as smooth as I would have liked.0

Well, I'm officially a daywalker, y'all. #feelsweirdman0

Good luck but please come back and visit us!! We'll miss you!!
My supervisor has no idea when I'll get moved. I through out the 26th as good for me so we'll see. I'm nightwalker for a little longer.
Hubs second scan went better than the first courtesy of .5mg of Xanax lmao. I got to see the images this time and now we wait for the neurosurgeon to call and schedule the appt.
I stress ate all day yesterday. I have some motivation though, I bought my dress for the wedding we're (hopefully) going to in Sept and it fits like a glove. AKA I cannot gain ANY weight it I wanna fit in this thing. I brought dinner and just need to run out for my sugar free red bull (or 2). I've been up since 8am and won't get home till at least 630a. I need all the help I can get lol.
How was everyone's weekend?0 -

A nightmare. But yet totally fine... I dunno!
I think it is fair to say I am a LEEEETTLE emotionally unstable right now...
I don't fully understand why but oh well...
It is time ONCE AGAIN for the SEMI-ANNUAL STABBING OF THE NEEDLES!
TB testing! My FAVORITE time of the year! (seriously, I love needles)
I'm also down to 161.8 again, which is where I was when I left for my sister's wedding almost exactly a month ago. Admittedly, I let things get out of hand for a while but I'm buckling down again and it's working.
Trying to work in some yoga and cardio with my heavy lifting. I'm hoping to make it to bed early when I get home to hit up the yoga scene but it seems like I ALWAYS have errands to run on Tuesdays.
I'm glad you're a nightwalker for a little while longer and glad the second scan for your husband went better than the first. Stress eating is okay, but remember, exercise is the most underutilized form of therapy.
I hope you make it through tonight okay.bethanie0825 wrote: »I have some motivation though, I bought my dress for the wedding we're (hopefully) going to in Sept and it fits like a glove. AKA I cannot gain ANY weight it I wanna fit in this thing.
I remember trying to maintain for that dress my sister had me wear in her wedding and I ended up losing a bit and people kept coming up behind me at the reception and pulling it up. :laugh:1 -

Truth!!! I'm trying to remember that in order to help him and support him (and probably take care of him for a bit) that I need to take care of myself. I can't very well help him if I feel like crap.
And I can only hope that my dress is a bit looser when it's time for the wedding!0 -

Welcome! Just waking up here till about 8am!0 -
Here until 7am.
Except yesterday I was here until 8:30 doing paper work until FOREVER(yes, I counted) because I sat in a chair and got bit by a FIELD MOUSE!
Yes. You did read that correctly.
I sat down in a chair in one of the buildings I was checking and felt some movement to my right and reached down between the cushion and the arm and was promptly bitten HARD by a field mouse which held on to me long enough to be LAUNCHED into the reception area while I screamed obscenities.
Only me. This is almost as bad as the time I got shat on by 3 different birds within a 6 hour period while working at Lowe's....
This isn't normal. This is just my life.
Rabies risk is apparently low, getting a tetanus shot, work nurse offered but I'm getting one anyway at my doctor appt. on Thursday and I'll have my records faxed over.
Just keep it clean, antibiotic ointment twice a day and change the bandage once a day. Look for signs of infection.
She took my vitals and bandaged me and I'm good to go.
I am SOOOO ready for my weekend to start after today.0 -
