There's a polar bear swim on New Year's Day out here so summer's not so bad. I haven't done the NYD swim here but I have over the ice in our lake a couple times. It isn't always ice on the lake though. A bunch of friends and us go canoeing and kayaking on NYD as a tradition but only if it's sunny.

    Avoid staring and gawking? Really?

Avert your eyes and stare at your feet, lol.

Shift three of five going down right now, it is waaaay too busy on the radio for it to be a weekday night though. Anyone else up and around?

Yep. Shift 11 of 14. Pretty slow tonight.

@canadjineh - I've seen some of the clothing optional beaches. Some of those people should never be seen naked! Not even by themselves! Jaba the Hut should never go to a nude beach.

While nude beaches aren't a thing here in NYC, you can go topless legally regardless of gender which makes summertime down here in Coney... interesting, to say the least.

Then you can see who has the bigger boobs, the young women or the old men.

Yeah the ones that run around in the buff, aren't.
It's never the ones you'd WANT to see naked.

That's why there is no staring or gawking. You're staring thinking, "Oh my goodness? Does your cardiologist know you look like that?"

Hubby whispered in an aside to me after one old guy walked past us this afternoon that "he has an 'elk butt'" meaning that his butt was the only light part on him like the white butt patches on elk or whitetail deer. Made me snicker, but not til the old guy was out of hearing range. Probably white from sitting on it all day and not getting any sun on that area.

There are nights when I wonder if anyone would notice if I just skipped all my records and went on to the next day.

Just sent one of my better employees out the door. Her family is moving to Oregon. She will be missed. :frowning:

Bummer, @sufferlandrian! Tell her she's not allowed to go until she finds a suitable replacement, lol.

I've been called to work a special event... Canada 150 Heritage Train!

Totally looking forward to this; my dad worked the rails when he first came over from Italy. Tradition!

@canadjineh - That sounds really cool! Do you get to ride it or just watch it? Either way that would be cool.

Holy!! What a hot, sweaty, and nerve wracking day! No shade whatsoever and 33C in full gear for 7 hours on a oiled dirt siding. The good part... I worked the end of the train (outside) where our PM Justin Trudeau boarded and then made his way through the vintage cars to the Stage car. Of course I was too professional and busy to get a photo when he was closest, and had to wait until he was at the Stage car and giving his speech - when he wasn't part of my responsibility anymore. His daughter Ella Grace is a cutie - she came with him too. Awesome time! Singer Dean Brody, and world champion Hoop Dancer Dallas Arcand (I took video). The vintage cars are so nifty (1916-1931).

I look a bit worse for wear in that picture, but hey, watcha gonna do? The team leader always gets the worst of it as they make sure the rest of the crew is taken care of. o:)

Got a new cooling towel for when I'm riding. Worked pretty good yesterday. You wet it, snap it and put it around your neck. This one is a tube. It cools via evaporation. 95 degrees on the bike on my way to work but it didn't feel that hot. It was still hot, but didn't feel 95. It felt more like about 85. Worked really well.

Le sigh...back from vacation and back to work. I ate so many carbs and yummy foods. The scale was kind to me and I was only up 1.5lbs. Hit C25K this morning and felt good so I'm not worried. Got some new shoes which helped out the running situation.

@canadjineh That looks like it would've been awesome!

@sufferlandrian I have a cooling towel and they are a godsend.

Those cooling neck 'scarves'/towels are pretty awesome, there's a stand at our local Farmer's/Crafter's Market that sells them. I wish I had one with me that day :/

Just had the cutest puppy in! 10 week old miniature poodle. Bitten by a spider and was having an allergic reaction.

What color? I love black poodles. We had a black standard poodle cross when I was young. Her name was Petunia.
