I am one of these people....I have a Bulldog....he is my baby...my life...the most spoilt dog on earth.....I lost my Gran last year...hard times...but the week after her death my dog had a seizure, it *kitten* me up big time...I was in more of a panic then than the week before (my Gran was not unexpected...I am not totally heartless...lol...)
I could not imagine having to do what your doing there...I doff my cap to you big time.....
Meet Duke...My Bully.....when we got him his pedigree name was "Duke is a Hazzard" I had a German Shepard as a kid named Baron...so I kept Duke as a fitting name....and boy does he live to his full name.....

Night is going well so far. Nice and quiet. A few things I have noticed are broken(lights not coming on and the like) so I've had to put in some work orders. Other than that, perfect.
I have a lab sharpei mix who will eat just about anything but the only ones I worry about getting intestinal blockages are my two ferrets.0 -

Interesting mix with a Lab.... I must ask for pictures.....im a sucker for any mutt....0 -
Bull dogs are a lot of fun. :-) I always enjoy working with them. They are comical as well as friendly.
Not a fan of Shar Pei dogs. Sorry. They are good dogs but they are tough to fix when they have lacerations since their skin was bread to tear when they fight. They get Amyloidosis as well which is almost always fatal. They are unique in their skin composition and inability to metabolize amyloid proteins. I hate the frustration that owners go through when you have to try to explain why the kidneys are failing and it was nothing the dog got into or didn't get in it's diet. I've seen too many die when they were so young and healthy that they should have had years left in them.
The lab we took to surgery had a piece of a hoof stuck in the intestines. Should recover well and is already up and moving around.0 -
re: vomit. glad i popped in here while eating0

ROFL. I forget not everyone deals with that. Sorry.0

A Hoof??? what sort of hoof??? only type of hoof I know is a horses hoof etc.....how the heck did a dog eat a horses foot???0 -
@fatjon73 - Over here us Yanks can buy cow hooves in the pet store for your dog to chew on. This guy just swallowed it whole.0

Glad to hear surgery went well.
Sandi just turned 10 and isn't much of a fighter. Other than some joint issues and a slight weight problem(I've had to relocate the cat food a couple times) she is the picture of health. Especially considering she fell out of a car window going 65 MPH when a window rolled down unexpectedly while my parents were moving to Texas 2 years ago.
Thank GOODNESS she knows how to tuck and roll. She got a tiny scratch on her head and needed stitches on her right rear paw. The emergency vet was AMAZED when the tech told her she WALKED into the office. "THIS is the dog that fell out of a car window going 60 miles an hour?!"
She's our miracle doggy!0 -
BTW Sorry if my Pic of my mutt has made your screen massive...it has mine...but I cant change it...or edit the post...dont know why.....0
-
@lilaclovebird - Glad the injuries were minor. That makes me happy. Hope the coffee helps.
@fatjon73 - The picture didn't make my screen massive. Love the profile picture.
I've had two dogs in two nights that got hold of THC. If you are on medical marijuana, make sure the dog can't get your stash. They can seizure and die if left untreated. With fluids they almost always do well with no long term effect.0 -
@sufferlandrian, was it a lab, or lab mix?? They always eat ANYTHING!! But to be fair, I have an 18 year old black and white cat that wil eat and drink anything as if he was a dog or a person! I have to guard liquor because one time my old roommate had a party while i was at work and he drank someone's glass of Wild Turkey!! No issues!!0

@cindytw - That's funny! Gotta love an alcoholic cat. The pot dogs were mixes. The intestinal resection dog was a Yellow lab. Now she is sniffing around the trash cans but won't eat her food. I think I'm going to send her home in the morning to see if she will eat at home.0
-
@lilaclovebird sometimes they surprise you, my grandparents dog got hit full force right over his neck and throat by a pickup truck, and other than skin tears of his jowls and skin, he was fine and running around protesting going to the vet!0
-
@sufferlandrian , good move. The same alchoholic cat ate a penny and had to have surgery, wouldn't eat for the vet so they kept him a week extra. I finally said enough, I am out of money and I got all the force feeding stuff and instructions. Came straight in, ate like a hog and was like..."Why didn't ya come for me sooner, stupid?"!
Also the same cat, diagnosed with cardiomyopathy since I got him, WILL NOT take a pill! i tried everything, including drinks to get him to take his daggone Diltiazem, no dice! So it was not worth it and he was right. He didn't need it he is 18 and wasn't supposed to make it to 5!0 -
@cindytw - You gotta love cats. They never read the book. :laugh:0
-
@sufferlandrian they sure don't, ESPECIALLY the Black and Whites!! They are the true Cat-Dog! At least the ones I have encountered!0

no no no...its just not allowed...its our club house....so if you want entry...get some stash off Sufferman to sweeten us all up to maybe let you stay for an hour...as a guest....
Or get a job working nights........I prefer the stash option.....;)¬'''''0 -

Cats are like women....they are not right in the head....you can't work out what they feel / want / say / do / or mean......they do as they like, when they like...they cant be trained.....and for no reason at all can turn in to the nastiest animal on earth.........that's why I have a dog......;)0 -
Wow. It's time for dinner but we just had a cat in that was sprayed by a skunk. It smells so bad in here now that I'm afraid anything I cooked would just end up smelling like skunk. Maybe I'll bottle it as the new diet plan. :laugh:0
