I guess I'm alone here when it comes to the females, but I thought this was funny.
it's 2014. lots of women have jobs now, so i hear. some even drive.

the guy didn't say "go halvsies." he said "expect the guy to pay." so ladies, offer to pay. offer. do you know how awesome that is for us when you even just offer to pay??

but you know, if the girl insists on buying expensive food and drinks or whatever, she should definitely throw down some cash. like a whole "let me get this round" is really really nice.

I always offer to cover my half. I always keep from ordering something crazy expensive as well, since I know the guy is most likely going to refuse to let me pay. I don't want to be the reason he's not going to be able to cover rent this month. I guess it's all about how you were raised.

Don't bring up marriage. It's a first date. You'd be surprised how many women do this.

    So, um...wanna get hitched?

My 19 year olds daughters self set rules and requirements, She is a beautiful college student. 1. he has to have a job and plans for a future or the date never happens 2. he must not drink a lot and never on the first date. 3. He pays for the first date, what he does on the first date shows what kind of man he is. (sorry to the guy that posted about her paying, but if you ask a girl out, show some respect and pay for the first date. 3. if you go to a restaurant ask him what he is going to order, look at the price and order a dish that costs LESS then what he has ordered. Don''t order the most expensive thing on the menu. (most guys right now are on a budget, respect it) 4. don't ever go back to his place on the first date! 5. Don't talk about exes. 6. if he doesn't show respect she doesn't go out with him in the first place or again. (ex. he calls and asks her to go drinking with his friends, she doesn't go.) 7. This one works, and she has proven it in the last month, be straight out and tell him if he wants to talk with her again to call or text her. She makes it clear she will not call or text him and she NEVER acts needy! Not sure how she says it but seems like they love this,. They seem to get it and it gets rid of all the games that are played with texting and calling now. If he doesn't call, he isn't worth it anyway. Shes not waiting for days for a call now. She recently did all this with one guy and he called her about an hour after the date, asked her out for a second date and she has since been dating him. Wow, who would have thunk it! It is possible that good guys are still looking for decent women!

LOL sorry.... as you can see its been a topic in my house lately! :)
  • Wow. It used to be if a guy asked you out on a date, he paid. I always offer to pay for my own, but if he accepts it - after he asked me out - I never go out with him again. The difference is in the way he asks. If he treats it like a date, it should be a date. Otherwise, it's just 2 friends hanging out, like a couple of girls, and each should pay their own. But that means there's no hint of intimacy involved. Unfortunately, too many people date with an end-goal in mind - "relationship" or "hookup" = Dating Fail.

I'd have no problem "putting out" for someone like you. I'd put u right out the front door and tell you to not let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out.

No, but sometimes relevant. I WILL talk about my kids on a first date. Because if the guy I'm dating isn't cool with kids, then there's no point in a second date. And due to the fact that my ex chose no custody in the divorce, and I have them full time. Talking about the ex, a bit as backstory to why I have the kids full time, is an important piece of who I am, and my level of freedom to date.

And I'll aways offer to pay on a date. But I've never actually had anyone take me up on that.

    How do we destroy it?

It's pretty much the same thing for women as it is for men.

You destroy it my not treating the person you are on a date with as you could any other human being: with courtesy, respect and plain common decency. If you relax, enjoy yourself and have no expectations on the outcome of the date you will normally have a great time.

When I go out with my friends I always offer to buy a drink or get a round in - why would it be different for a date?
When I go out with friends I quite naturally hold doors open - why would it be different for a date?
When I go out with friends I have no other motivation but to enjoy myself and be in their company - why would it be different for a date?

    Dating doesn't have to suck.

    Ah women...

So by a man paying for dinner that allows for a chance of intimacy? If you pay for your own food there is no chance at sex.

If you ladies insist on being prostitutes at least get actual cash as opposed to a Caesar salad for your troubles.

(I always pay on a date, I just laugh when women tie paying for a date to sex and expect to sound like anything other than a low price escort)

Every guy is different, I don't think there is a definitive list of do's and don’ts, just relax and go with the flow.

    A :)

Ps, talking about what colour your bridesmaid dresses will be on the wedding may fall into the don’ts category lol

Don't try too hard. Try the perfect amount. Don't dress too sexy, but dress sexy enough. You aren't a nun. Show some skin. Don't talk too much, but when you do talk, talk about all the RIGHT things. Don't flirt with the waiter. Don't look at your phone. Don't forget to brush your teeth eight times before the date, twice during, and once after. Don't order garlicky or spicy foods. Don't tell your date he reminds you of your dad. Don't talk about your porcelain egg collection. Don't pretend you don't have kids, but don't whip out your phone and show him a few hundred candid photos of them, either. Don't forget to shave. Don't go past second base. Don't come off as needy, unless the guy seems to like that kind of thing. Don't drink too much, but don't drink too little, either. Guys want a girl that knows how to have fun but doesn't pass out every night with two empty bottles of pinot on her nightstand. Don't be a ballbuster, unless your new guy would like his balls busted. Don't wear flats, but don't wear stilettos, either. Don't forget to be yourself, unless yourself sucks. Then be someone else. Don't tell him how much you can deadlift unless you are 99.9% certain he can lift more than you. Don't finish your food. Don't ask for a doggie bag. Don't pick up the check. It's emasculating.

If I was a woman and I had to live up to all those requirements I think I would rather be single...

If a man is stupid enough to buy me a drink, buy me dinner, or otherwise pay for my **** that's on him. Regardless of whether he pays for dinner, you don't owe him sex, intimacy, or anything else. I just never offer to pay and if he insists on going splitsies, I just excuse myself to the bathroom and sneak out of the restaurant.

If I ask a guy out on a date, I would want to pay since I asked. If he asks me, I would offer to pay still, its just polite.

I like to laugh, smile and joke around alot. So I tend to steer clear of any kind of serious discussions on the first date. Just relax, be yourself and most of all have fun.

I am not a big dinner date fan, I prefer to do something fun, like air hockey or pool or bowling.
