    Hi,

    I would love to join! I just bought my fitbit zip about 2 weeks ago and my aim is to have at least 10,000 steps a day.
    So far I have only been under 1 day!
    Would love to know tips from people who walk 15,000 + steps a day. Very impressive!

    I also wear a BodyMedia Fit armband all day. I started January 10, 2014. Still learning things on it.

    Hi,

    The days that I have high step counts usually start with a good walk or treadmill. I also try to add steps by marching in place when I am waiting for things or parking further away. I also set mini goals during the day such as not returning to my desk until I have reached the next 1,000 on my counter.

    Caro, I don't have a car, so that probably helps me out getting steps right there. I walk to the bus stop, then rather than just standing there waiting for the bus, I walk up and down the sidewalk a bit. I walk from the bus stop to work, and I use some of the same tricks that Dancingj2 uses, pushing to the next thousand when I see I am close. I usually walk around the office while eating lunch (people have mostly stopped giving me weird looks, lol). I walk around the house while waiting for my tea to steep. And I got some Leslie Sansone walking DVDs so that even if I don't want to walk outside, I can walk inside. I march in place or do sidesteps, etc. while watching movies and so on and so forth. I tend to do a few minutes of walking every hour or two instead of sitting down and not moving through a two-hour movie. Oh, and I walk while talking on the phone! A forty-minute conversation with my mother now gives me about 4000 steps instead of forty minutes of sitting in an armchair (and I don't even notice the time passing). I find that the little stuff really adds up throughout the day, and my Fitbit has just made me a lot more conscious of when I'm not moving.

    My tricks for getting more steps
    I go to bed early instead of "relaxing" in the evening watching TV or messing about on the computer, then I can get up extra early and take a long walk before I have to shower and dress for my daily events......walking while talking on the phone, walking while waiting for anything rather than sitting.....always be on the lookout for an opportunity to be moving.
