Of course I want to be able to lift a house, but I'm going for aesthetics, not strength.
Definitely impressive numbers in this thread. Well done guys.0 -

PR yesterday, 635x11 Rack Deadlift. It's a brag/max thread so why not. Not a big three. But since I don't do a single big three lift these days, it's all I have.. Pin below knee. . I think I could get 785 for 1. But not even gonna try with these effing slipped discs.seeing people talking about rack pulls- anyone feel they significantly impacted their lifts?
I read a few articles that said they really didn't help that much outside of perhaps a mental impact.
Thoughts?
I'm pushing 300 but for some reason it's an issue- wondering if I should start including them.
I think it's THE single best lift for mass. Nothing overloads the back more, period. The CNS impact is less than a regularly deadlift. And even if strength is the goal, reducing deadlift frequency and adding rack pulls in place of deads on a pull day can really help push through barriers. It helped me when I used to lift for strength and I know a lot of PL'ers that do em. Pretty good carry over.
Besides, they're just plain fun. Bending bars is the best legal high out there!0 -

I don't know about the other 2 but I tested myself on the squats today and managed to do 3x 65kg/143lbs! Almost my bodyweight! I shall work on this!!! :bigsmile:0 -

Bench = 128lbs
Deadlift = 250
Squat = 150 (it might've been more, but then I was injured and haven't tested it since March)
OHP = 93
Right now just working back up after a hip injury and a broken foot.0 -

New to lifting (about a month ago) and in awe of these numbers, but here's my £0.02 for now:
F / 49 years / 5ft 1"
Squat: 40 kg (88lbs x 10, so am sure I could go higher)
Bench: 30 kg (66lbs - tho I've only benched on one occasion so far anyhow)
Deadlift: 75 kg (165 lbs - 1RM)
We all gotta start somewhere....
Edited for clarity!0 -
I scored a new PR on Sunday for 1-rep deadlift: 325. I've only recently added deadlifts and squats into my routine, so I think I can go much higher. I would like to hit 400 by Christmas this year.
By the way, I'm 38, male, 216 lbs.0 -
From a couple weeks ago, 115kg squat, 52.5kg bench, and 165kg deadlift at 81.8 body weight. Looking to add a few kg to both squat and deadlift on Sunday.0

Just coming off a month off due to an injury but mine were
bench 215
squat 345
Deadlift 435
Just read about the rack pulls people have been suggesting, is it basically the top half of a DL or am I missing something.0 -

5'11" These maxes (gym PRs) were hit around BW 182-185. Currently a soft and injured 191. lol.
Bench: 290
Squat: 410
Deadlift: 415. And the 415 was attempted strictly to get me out of the "squat more than I pull" club.
LOL. I used to get my mail there. Then my deadlift took off, and now I wonder if I even squat.0 -

I am seriously in awe at the numbers I'm seeing. Makes me wonder how long people have been lifting for and if I'm not eating anywhere near enough to see those kinds of gains.
These aren't 1RM because I haven't tested for that but these are my highest 5x5 work weights.

Male 19
215 pounds off season during powerlifting season 198.25
Bench Max is 325 or 225 for 13 reps or 185 for 29
Deadlift Max is 525 or 405 8 times
Squat max is 500 or 405 8 times
If you need help with a lifting program let me know, I do different lifts to work small stabilization muscles in the core, low back, shoulders and around the knee. The key is to work on the stabilization muscles, using dumbbells and body weight squats with one leg and deadlifts with one arm. These will make your maxes explode. By Christmas I will want to be squatting 550 and deadlifting the same weight. I hope this helps, If you need proof let me know I have videos of squats as well as deadlifts.
Thanks,
Shawn Murphy0 -

yeah- I'd REALLY like to see an experienced lifter put on 50 pounds in less than 6 months to their squat.
REALLY.
I'll wait.0 -
I have a lot of work to go.
Weight today 171.8
height 6'1"
I haven't tried bench press max...used to be ~255....I do dumbbells a@ 110lbs for 6 reps
My DL has been going up...without straps, ~330. w/ straps 365x3 last time I did them
Squats (so weak on legs). ~225 x 5, going to parallel or slightly lower.
But for weighted chins. I can do BW + 100lbs for 3 - 5 reps (w/ straps)
Dips I can do BW + 100lbs for 5 - 7 reps0 -
Age: 23
Weight today 167.8
Bench 235lb - I am working on pushing reps out for 225lbs before I try a new max.
I have recently added OHP to increase my bench max. I hit 135 for 2 reps yesterday! I am working on this too!
It has been about 1.5 Months since I incorporated Deads & Squats (legs for that matter)
Hit conventional deadlift @ 285 for 3 Reps this past saturday!
Low bar Squats - Still working on form and my technique. I am able to hit 185 for about 2 sets of 4-6 reps. I have been working on going below parallel but for some odd reason I get a bit nervouse at the bottom so I haven't tried doing any one rep max yet. I just bought some reebok oly shoes so maybe that will help my depth & ill be adding some weight tomorrow to see where I am at.
This week I am going to try warming up with other excersises before I hit these bigger movements. I usally start my Chest workout with bench and then do other volume workouts. The same goes for my squats.0 -
Baby maxes. (5'9", 46, 235 - yeah, yeah))
DL: 125 x 1 set of 5 (Stronglifts said to do it once. I don't like that but I'm following instructions; when can I do repeated sets?)
OHP: 70 x 5 sets of 5 (pushing it to almost fail but I was cleaning it each time)
BBRow: 80 x 5 sets of 5
Bench: 75 x 5 sets of 5
I can't squat for now. Want to wait until after meniscus surgery to bust out my knees.0 -
Squat. 425 for 6 reps
DL. 505 for 2 reps
BP. 315 for 4 reps0 -

I looked at strong lift. So you squat three times a week. You only do one deadlift set a session. It says that deadlift takes a lot on your body. I think squats take more than deadlift. I do my deadlift just like I do my other workouts and I am very close to 405 deadlift. current is 3750 -

I've only been lifting for about a month and a half, so I'm just getting started. My current goals are to bench my bodyweight, and squat and deadlift 200, and be able to do sets of dead-hang pull-ups by my birthday, Dec 5. After that... I'll just have to come up with new goals. :happy:0 -

With progressive overload stronglift sounds like it relies on squats to have deadlifts increase. Which is true I think. If you look at it with whats muscle elevates the most testosterone it would be quads.
