Would remove the frosting simply because it is gross. Not sure why to each their own is such a hard concept for so many people. LOL
I prefer donuts without the frosting too, but I'd still log the whole donat.0 -
I'm more sad that most of the diaries I see feature like <%1 fresh fruits of veggies; everything is packaged and processed. That's what sad to me.
I rarely read anybody's diary, but on the board I've been absolutely floored by the amount of people here who proclaim that they almost never eat a vegetable, some quite proudly.
It's incredible how few people I've run into here who are interested in consuming a diet that not only gets them to their weight/body goals, but also well nutritious that very body. Tons of crap is being eaten on the back of "calories in vs calories out is all that matters".
Wow you hit the nail on the head. That's exactly why it bugs me, I'm like I know you're hitting your macros but overall I imagine that most people feel better when they are eating something a little more...food-like...0 -
After I read this I had to see it for myself lol. There is an entry for horse semen extract. WTF???One of my female MFP friends noted that semen is in the database. I didn't ask her why she looked it up.
oh god , had to look this up too . WTF doesnt even come close to describing my reaction .
there is also an entry for genenic and homemade ( OH REALLY )
and one for Skippy semen butter but maybe theres something lost in translation here .

Spaghetti squash is a great base for historically pasta based dishes. Gives a really wonderful, alternative flavoring too if done right.
I eat pasta from time to time, and still have chosen to have spaghetti squash as a base simply because it's good (and nutritious).0 -

I don't know. I don't remember sad entries. But, as a parent sometimes you log weird stuff when eating left overs or sharing a donut. I get burgers without mayo. I like mustard, ketchup, pickles, tomatoes.0

I have noticed that most processed gluten free stuff is super expensive, which is why I don't buy most of it. However, I get my gluten-free pasta in the bulk bins of my local store and it's only about $0.04 per pound more expensive than the regular kind. :drinker:0 -

Also, even if no donut you wanted was available and you wanted to remove the icing - why create your own entry.
There is a plain, and glazed donut.
I think that's the point - making up new food items when just a tad bit of thinking will find something there.
Besides with the donut - how in the world would they know the nutritional info unless copying from a donut that never had icing - which is likely in the database.
My oddest one found - Total Guess unknown calories.

oh oh oh this stuff made me laugh... mostly, who knew what stuff was in here.. cat food, feelings, made me smile to know I am not as sad as i thought... my favorite? Makes me sad when veggies are disguised as noodles !!!!! ha ha ha ha0

I just came to read. I don't have any that come to mind. But hey, I had a dunkin donut in my diary today...complete with frosting! What makes the OP one so "sad" is the 'frosting removed' part. I just get an image of someone scraping the frosting off with a knife or something onto the plate before eating the thing. Just get it without the frosting in the first place. Or maybe it made them feel good about it to be able to say "Hey, I just scraped off all that frosting. I'm making the healthier choice!"0

I dont like frosting but even when i log cake, I dont bother trying to figure the w/o frosting calories, I just log it like i ate the whole thing.0

I sometimes use potatoes in place of pasta.
Makes many dishes taste better actually.

Or maybe they got one of the many donuts that come with frosting, but don't have an unfrosted counterpart.
I personally would never scrape off my frosting, but lets say you enjoy an eclair or a boston cream pie, but you don't like frosting. Last time I was at a doughnut shop neither of those varieties were offered without frosting.0 -
I logged pasta bake without any pasta, but I don't even really like or want the pasta. I still had cheese/egg/more cheese-drenched chicken, broccoli and mushrooms, along with crunchy bread topping.
Some entries are magically devoid of calories, carbs, protein and fat, which leads me to think some people just log fake foods to kid themselves. That's sadder than taking the frosting (bleh, I'd do this too) off a donut.0 -
I have picked the chocolate coating off of food, including chocolate bars. Since I am not a fan of chocolate, but love the nut and caramel goodness that is inside that evil chocolate.
But that was in my pre logging days. I haven't had the opportunity to add it to the database yet.0 -
Definitely have to be careful with the values MFP spits out sometimes. I went for a bit of a walk and thought, heck...may as well log it right. I walk at a pretty brisk pace so I put in "60 minutes of walking 4mph" Apparently according to MFP I just managed to burn 900 calories. Woo-hoo weight loss here I come. Good thing I walked and didn't run since running for 60 minutes only burns 500.0
