Is 'eating at deficit' enough?

Let me ask you a simple question, Penny.

My calorie target for each day 3400 calories. I have my macros set accordingly. If I have 350 calories to spare and all my macros/micros will still be on target if I eat 6 Oreo cookies (or anything you want to define as unhealthy), how will those Oreo cookies impact me negatively? How are they unhealthy for me?

I've contributed that you can eat what you want without having to worry about stupid things such as mayonnaise on vegetables so long as you consistently track your caloric intake.

    So that's nothing then.

I'm willing to bet that people would be more inclined to read you can eat foods you enjoy and still achieve successful weight loss so long as you keep a deficit... rather than your 206 posts, all of which are in this thread alone.

You may be right, but at least I'm offering some in depth information. Whereas you are not.

Having depth and saying a bunch of words that aren't correct isn't really the same thing.

No one has pointed out where I've been incorrect though. You just keep saying I'm wrong and contradicting myself yet not actually proving it...

I believe every point you have made has been contradicted. You are the outlier here. The burden of proof rests on you. Most of what people are saying is common knowledge. What you are saying is not, therefore, you must prove your points which you have not done. All you do is argue like a college kid who just took her first nutrition class and thinks they have it all figured out.

As I said, you keep saying it but not providing examples of where I've been wrong. I have provided proof to back up my points but they've been ignored. Can't do much about that. I haven't started any arguments, I have just responded to attacks on the information I gave. I would've thought that people would hear something and maybe look it up or ask for further advice if it's not common knowledge. But you guys have just shouted me down and said I'm wrong...odd really. I haven't got it all figured out and I don't claim to. There's some stuff I know about, others not. I appreciate being educated as much as I like giving information.

There's a lot of resistance to learning anything new here I guess which is a shame.

There was a Cliff's notes version of how you were wrong already posted. You rebutted, of course, but your rebuttals were laughable at best. They looked more like back pedaling than defenses.

Well like I said, I can't win. You've taken things I said out of context. I tried to explain them and you say I'm backpedalling so there's really no point is there?

You haven't made a clear point yet...no need to start now.

You think I'm being passive aggressive, that is not my intention. You people all come across pretty rude too you know. If there are people more educated than me then why haven't they stepped in? There's no need to attack my credentials, I am simply educating myself and trying to make a living out of helping people. I'm not here to say I know it all. If someone has information that refutes what I've learnt then I'm all ears. I have tried to pass along what I've learnt. I didn't realise it would be so unwelcomed.

What do you mean, you people?

yea, what do you mean "you people"???

There wouldn't. I'd be told I'm backpedalling or contradicting myself or just downright wrong or whatever. On a similar line as was said to me, you guys haven't offered a single non critical word, why would you start now?

I don't mind though. I came here to offer helpful advice and information, if it's not wanted then that's fine, I will give up.

    Then stop posting....

I would personally use your opinion on the subject as a gauge.

No. I'm offering practical advice, rather than a bunch of jargon that isn't tailored to the majority of the audience on this website as already point out in the post above.

Have you wondered why nearly every single individual in this thread is arguing against you? It's how you present yourself.

Well honestly I have been trying to avoid jargon and make it simple to understand. I think you need to take people with a grain of salt when it comes to online forums, you cannot judge a person through text. My only intention has to been to get experience offering advice for my career and I thought that might be appreciated but it seems not. I thought people would be more open minded in hearing facts and learning more about nutrition and weight loss and how things work. I guess it confuses me that you just attack someone for that.

And you can talk passive aggressively, but here is a news flash, you aren't the only person that knows nutrition. There are many more people far more educated than you on the subject. Being a nutritionist isn't that difficult of a task to achieve and does not make you automatically right. You think all doctors are created equally?

Passing on knowledge is always welcomed. No one here has gained any knowledge from you that I am aware of.

Well that's a shame. Someone said different foods all react the same in the body and I tried to explain that that is not the case. But obviously people can take what they want from it and just ignore it if they want to. No need to be rude.

See.....it was me, and that is not what I said. Should I pull up the post and quote it? I said people eating different macros, but the same calories, would have the same results. I said nothing about reacting in the body. And I very clearly reinforced that I was talking only about weight loss not general health or body composition.

Jesus Christ on a stick, WTF are you going to tell people if you ever decide to become a nutritionist and they ask you a similar question?

"Well, I have an answer, but what's the point? That'll be $50, please!"

Were you "binging" on that salad?? Were you uncontrollably binging on a lb of steak? Come on.

You missed the boat. Your original statement was that those types of foods would not be served at that type of restaurant.

I reckon I did binge on the steak. That whole night in general. I better binge if I'm paying $75 per person.

I don't think Lindsey... er Penny has ever been to a Churrascaria (Brazilian Steakhouse)! The salads at the one near me (a Texas de Brazil) are awesome: fresh, tasty, varied. I have to be very careful not to fill up on salad before they start bringing the meat round. Because you can bet I am going to eat all the meats I can! Delicious meat, cooked over an open fire, hand carved at the table... I leave there so full I can barely walk, so yeah, I'd say that was binging!

Yum. I wanna go right now!
