I planned my birthday weekend. I'm cooking the three of us a large Indian meal on the 17th, and then on the 18th I'm going to go see my mother and get my birthday present from her and from my sons, who live with her since Dad died, and then watch them open their Christmas presents from me. Lunch will also happen.
How is this an NSV, you ask? Because for the last ten years at least, my chronic pain has been so bad that the day after cooking an elaborate meal, I couldn't contemplate socializing with anyone. I would have a hard time walking to the bathroom that day, let alone cooking anything, let alone using the worst of the two feet to drive somewhere any distance at all.
And now I'm fifty pounds lighter, and enough pain reduction has happened that I can plan that with confidence that I'll be physically able to go, and I won't be so sore that I can't enjoy it.20 -
All my jeans from last year look like clown pants on me so I’m getting rid of them.
I was feeling good on my walk today and I broke into a light jog and it didn’t feel like I was dying.
I pre-logged chocolate for myself (trying to figure out how to treat myself in moderation) but I managed to forget??? To eat them??? And I already brushed my teeth for the night!25 -
Normally during TOM my bigger clothes fit about right. This month they're still big and my middle size clothes fit well! Also went down two bra sizes.20

I made a homemade pizza last night, and it had Italian sausage and cheese. It was hearty! I limited myself to one moderately sized piece! My hunger was quite satisfied with that, plus a salad. It really was enough.18

Rode my bike to the bike shop to get a back rack and basket for errands. The man who installed my rack commented, “you’re livin that bike life, huh?” Well, not yet but I’m trying! Two Target pickups, one wine shop trip, and a donut store trip so far this week thanks to new basket! So much more pleasant than riding with a giant backpack.19

I tried on new shoes. I stood on one leg, took out one shoe, put the shoe on the floor, took out wool sock (Finnish winter, can´t do without), put on the new shoe, fastened it, then put my foot back down. Stood on one leg for the whole procedure, with ease.19

I'm officially fitting comfortably into a size smaller for my jeans!13

My non scale victory is finally fitting in the dress I wore to my wedding dress rehearsal 13+ years ago. I’ve kept it all these years, dispute almost giving up hope. But I refused to get rid of it.
I did it!
And it feels so freaking good smashing this goal!

Shoveling heavy snow and not breaking a sweat or breathing heavy like I used too. proving that losing 100 lbs and exercising every day, does the heart and lungs good.23

I entered two runs for yesterday. A 5km and a 2.5km, back to back, thus adding up to 7.5km. The farthest I've ever run is 5km. I completed both runs back to back and was only 3 minutes slower overall than my last 5km run time.17

I'm in the elderly category at 67. Losing considerable weight means that my wrinkles become more pronounced and that there are more of them. In the sunlight today I saw the lovely pattern of geometric crinkles up and down my arms. I see my face losing its wrinkle-defying plumpness, in the morning my eyes are double-lidded. My thighs are muscular, but over the muscles there is a whole lot of saggy baggy skin.
I embrace all of this, reminding myself that I had ovarian cancer 6 years ago and survived it, and had a thyroid lobe removed 3 months ago, the scar has healed wonderfully, and I can breathe and swallow without obstruction now. I have been so lucky in this skin, so I embrace it in all of its changes with all my heart!44 -

I am seeing this as well. But it's still better than the exta weight. I can move around better and feel more energetic and confident. My goal is to live a long happy healthy life. Wrinkles don't affect that but the extra weight does. So, I am right there with you!14 -
My boss (the managing director) just now: "ehm, I hope this is not inappropriate but did you lose weight, you look fantastic".
Yay, thank you for noticing!!20 -
I was taking a bath and when I looked at my legs I was like, "Wait, that's cute. My legs are cute."25

I have had some hardcore struggle days when it comes to eating, to the point of binge eating. I went through a depressive period and the transitional period coming out of it made eating a big struggle. I'm doing better though, and I'm hoping being back here will help me be more consistent!35

And today one of the Directors said the same. Twice in one week, it's a good week....20 -
So yesterday I made my birthday cake. Well, cakes. I'll celebrate a bit at lunch today with my partners, so I wanted a little cake then, and I wanted some cake to take to my mother's house tomorrow, when my sons will be off work and we can all have lunch together.
So instead of making a 9 x 13 which would make far more cake than I want in the house, I wound up taking a small 4 x 6 baking dish and a square 8 inch baking dish, and putting the batter in those and tossing what didn't fit. That made me a small three-person cake for here, and the square cake should handle five pieces and I'll leave the rest there for my boys. I really didn't want cupcakes sitting in my freezer. They would have sung to me, and I try to keep food that sings out of the house. This way by Monday there will be no birthday cake sitting around, and I'll have had a piece on my birthday and a piece the day after, and then it will be gone.
I also iced the cake (I love that they make sugar-free icing!) and when I was done I had about a third of a cup of icing left. And I pointed out to myself that saving it was silly. What was I going to do with it? I can't eat fruit so dipping apple slices into it was out, and I can't eat graham crackers dipped in frosting without having the fructose intolerance hammer me. No one else in the household needs it. And if I do get someone asking me to make the cake again, I'll go to the store and get a fresh can of frosting. So I just tossed it.
Before this I would have made both the 9 x 13 and the cupcakes and felt tremendously guilty and like a failure every time I found myself nuking a cupcake at midnight, and would have had a headache and felt stupid for eating the leftover icing with a spoon. There would have been stale cake sitting around singing to me which I would have eaten even if it was stale, and felt stupid doing it.
Now I feel like I can make choices and enjoy things (like birthday cake)! in a sensible manner. I'm happy with this.31 -
I cleaned out my wardrobe yesterday, and pulled out a pair of jeans that were too small. I tried them on and they fit perfectly. 🥳18

I had the energy to outplay a four-year-old
I was babysitting, and was a bit worried that I would not have the time for my regular walk. But we ended up hanging out outside for several hours, climbing snow piles as the floor was lava. Even if I didn´t end up with that many steps, it still felt like a great work out. Can´t even remember the last time I have climbed on a snow pile. We stayed out so long that it was he who said he wanted to go inside, usually it would be me who would get tired and decide that now we have to go. Ofcourse he recharged his energy to full with a small snack, where as I was knackered the rest of the day, but still...26 -
I forgot to eat lunch! I have never in my life forgotten to eat a meal. I'm highly surprised.19

I had my annual doctor appointment last week and my doctor said my labs were "beautiful". She said ALL of them were great and there was nothing to talk about there.34

I've tracked my food using MFP and my calories burned using FitBit for 30 days now!! I'm so proud of myself!29

I realised today that I can see the “ripples” from the top part of my rib cage being visible on my chest. Especially if I move my arms up and down but also just in general if wearing a low cut top. I13
