1) Made my daughter a heavily laden chocolate cake for her 18th birthday today. And I mean heavily laden (chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, and covered in chocolate buttons, ripples and maltesers).
I finished it, looked at it, listened to the children saying that it was a "cool" cake, looked at it again and decided that there was no way I was eating any of it. Cue: "Why not?" from the children quickly followed by, "All the more for us then!".
They are welcome to it as it's the sort of cake whereby you just have to look at it to feel the calories piling on . . . although a chocolate lover's delight, it looked pretty disgusting. I felt sick just looking at it.
Needless to say, the children will only be getting very small pieces of it when they have some.
I expect it to last the four of them until my daughter's 19th birthday (it was a fairly big cake).
2) Completed my 26th Parkrun today. That's 130km in Parkruns alone. Just over halfway to my first T-shirt. Still can't cover the distance in under 30 minutes but it doesn't matter. Always finish in the last 10% but that doesn't matter. I'm out there, dispite the weather, running and loving it.
The only person in my house who loves it as much as I do is my little girl who wakes up every Saturday saying, "It's YOUR Parkrun day, Mum!" and every Sunday with, "It's MY Parkrun day, Mum!". My daughter completes her 21st run tomorrow, so she'll have covered the same distance as a marathon.
We've made lots of friends, through both running and volunteering. Between all six members of my family, we've volunteered 185 times and four of us have run 72 times. My little girl is the youngest volunteer at the moment, she has the "Funnel Manager" job with her Dad, so she stands for over an hour at the funnel, shouting, "Well done!" to each and every runner who goes though the finish line. Today, that was nearly 600 times. Lots of people make an effort to speak to her, even seeking her out before the run to say something to her (she calls these people her "fans"). In the colder weather she wears a hat shaped like a penguin's head (complete with beak) which is often a topic of conversation and today she had two older volunteers "waddling" around like penguins after her. You had to see it to appreciate it, but it was very funny to watch.
Next Saturday I'm hoping that she'll walk the 5km course with me. My son usually runs with me but he's having a minor operation two days beforehand and we're not sure if he'll be well enough to run, so he and I will be the tail walkers and maybe my little girl might decide to walk with us. She's more than capable of walking 5km, it's just a case of will she want to do it?34 -
Realized that when a song from Zumba class came on the radio today that I knew all the moves and was totally jiving to it in traffic!28

It’s crazy to me just this photo comparison from april(my heaviest) to Jan. Got serious about my health in November and really forget sometimes the progress I’ve made. My smile just feels more genuine in the 2nd picture. I feel so much better.24

today I was too cozy in bed to make my 8.15am bodypump class so I went to a bums and tums class instead. I was pleased to have made it to the gym at all, but I noticed in the mirror that my lower leg/ankle has an indent
That used to be covered by fat, so it was nice to spot

I wore a crop top for the first time in my life. I was apprehensive at first bc I still have some belly fat that I need to get rid of, but after encouragement from my kids I did it. And got mad compliments too!23

But hey, I canactually feel a difference! I might not see it but certain clothes fit better and my bra band is getting loose
I’m so happy there is a change since I haven’t been logging as accurately as I should
I feel you!! For me the lower mid section is all that’s left! At some point it won’t be able to come off anywhere but there I suppose!!!
Yes I suppose that’s true but I can’t wait for that to happen!

I fell on the ice (well actually I was petting a dog and it knocked me over
) but anyway the dog-owner/my coworker gave me his hand to pull me up and I actually LET HIM. Idk about y'all but when I was 300+ pounds I would just laugh when people would try to help me up.

And you are so light that the dog knocked you over with ease! High 5!
Hope you did not get hurt by the way.10 -
I stopped drinking beer (and all booze) two weeks ago. I quit to make weight loss easier, but it's also just made my life better overall. My brain works better, I'm less depressed, and I'm more motivated to get up and start my day every morning. Now I'm the weirdo with the glass of water at the pub with my friends, but it's totally worth it. Don't think I'll pick it back up again, even when I reach my goal weight.30

Good for you! I like to get a club soda with lime when I’m out. It feels slightly more festive, and if anyone notices and is of the type to question it, they think I’m drinking a mixed drink.

10.5(ish) km last night and I maintained a steady pace the entire time. I think I've finally figured out what an easy pace is for me! (The splits that are slower are the ones where I was stuck waiting for traffic).

Tonic water with lemon or lime for me. Not only do others assume it is a mixed drink, my taste buds seem to as well and don’t feel deprived or start craving other drinks.9 -
