In the last 3-4 days, I'm starting to see convincing mirror evidence in the morning that the fat around my waist is starting to evaporate. Not ready to claim victory but I've crossed a new paradigm and am within 4 lbs. of my initial goal weight. It's only a matter of time before I share some photos. To others who share here and other posts with photos, thanks for sharing and the inspiration.17

Finally feeling some movement. After the last 2 weeks seriously feeling like I might have to go back up a notch on the belt, I finally and feeling loose on the buckle again. Today I'm actually able to pull past the hole and and back again considering punching a new hole.
Will be leaving that a couple of weeks at least, and hopefully my scales will catch up (not had significant moment in that regard for some time)11 -
Just back from a 22-mile bike bike which was bitterly cold due to northerly wind and troublesome due to idiots in cars who think a) that they have right of way regardless of which side of the road they are on and b) that the horn fitted to their cars is primarily there to frighten the life out of cyclists - yes, Mr. Idiot-in-a-car, I do have functional ears and do actually know when you are right behind me. I do not need to know the tone or pitch of your horn, thank you - but I digress!
So, on this ride I clocked up my 11,000th mile on this bike (well, actually, 11,015th mile).
And got back to find an email stating that I've been accepted on a course to become a bike ride leader. This is slightly scary (new people, eek!) slightly exciting (because it's about cycling and getting others out on bikes) and slightly annoying (clashes with Parkrun).
More exciting than anything though22 -
I'm a high school teacher. So far, I've lost 27 pounds, down from 297 peak. Walking down the hall, a student I had last year walked up to me today and said, "I don't want you thinking I'm checking you out, but I swear you're shrinking!"
Best compliment I've received.42 -
Can someone help me with the abbreviations used here? What is NSV? And any others commonly used. Not used to forums. Please and Thank you!1

Lots of folks mention here that it takes them a while to mentally adjust to their smaller size. "Who is that little(r) person in the mirror?" True for me, too.
Congrats on your success!
Thank you, you too!0 -

There's a handy reference at this link, covering lots of the abbreviations and terms:

I braved week 4 day 1 of c25k yesterday. Week 4 has always frightened me a little, it's the first week where the walk segments are less than the jog segments. And the first 5 minute jog. I made it without giving up. Yes it was turtle pace, but the important thing is I didn't decide it was too hard and just walk the rest of the way.
This morning was back to week 3, trying to keep my speed at or above 8km/h. Dropped under a couple of times but pushed myself to get back up there. Feeling pretty accomplished this morning.
Also- a scale victory, it after 2-3 weeks being stuck at 97.something, the scales finally dropped to 96.05 yesterday. I knew that a big loss was coming after the stall so just kept at it.10 -

I agree! I'm a high school teacher as well, and I've have the same group (of teens with learning difficulties) for two years in a row. One day, they told me they had been commenting that I look much thinner this year - and that it suits me!
Best compliment ever!17 -
I lost enough weight to begin exercising comfortably and in a few weeks of hitting the gym my blood pressure has gone down from 130 over 82 to 118 over 78.28

Awesome job Kendrazombie!6

I'm about to hit 3 weeks without having a cigarette. Woo hoo!
I've also upped my water intake and haven't had a pop in a few days. It's amazing how much better I feel physically by doing those things. My skin feels clearer haha!51 -

@Kendrazombie, you are rocking that skirt, sweety!!!!! Good for you. Well done!4

Just jogged for 30 minutes straight!! 2 months ago I wouldn’t have believed I could do that in. Now to improve speed I want to go from 4.7mph to 5mph pace:29

Well done you, so inspiring! I was up to 3 min runs and have now broken a toe! In two months time I hope to be able to catch you lol, that’s a good pace you got going 😁13 -
Still kicking along with weeks 3 & 4 of c25k. Working on speed in week 3, still dropped under 8km/h a couple of times this morning but got myself back above it. Not only that, but my walking pace is getting much better! At the beginning I was walking between 4.5 and 5.5km/h. I've made it my goal this week to stay around 6km/h during the walk parts. A few times I dropped as low as 5.5, but mostly it was above 6. Even hit 7 on a few downhill stretches. Yay me!18

So, there I am, slogging up a hill on my bike in the lowest gear of the mid-range, sweating like a crazy thing when a cyclist shoots past me, like I am stood still. Whilst my jaw is involuntarily finding its way to the floor, another one flies past.
As I silently (jealously) curse them and wish I could cycle up hills that fast (they must have been going at 12mph - I mean 12mph UP a long, long steep hill? HOW??) I realise that both of them had electric bikes.
I felt so much better (aka smug), knowing that I may have been going slowly but at least I was doing it ON MY OWN.

@Madwife2009 - I do love your posts, they set me up for the day. You have achieved so much. You embody true grit and determination. I know you’ll continue to inspire once you’ve done your cycle leader course.17

I put my chest and back weights up for BodyPump. I'm now on 15 kg for both (a 5 and a 2.5 on each side of the bar). And then when I couldn't quite do all the clean-and-presses with that weight, I didn't try to force it (and lose form), I alternated with rows instead. Ambition and sense? Can this really be me?
(I probably need to put my squat weight up too, but there are practical issues because my gym is chronically short of the 5kg plates, but if I use 10kgs I won't be able to swap over quickly enough after warmup. Why is everything always so complicated?)19 -

are they short of bars too? I used to have 2 bars by my step, warm up/shoulder weight and then a heavier one for squats onwards

I'm on week 6 run 2 of couch 25K
Ran for 20 mins straight last week, this week it's 25 tomorrow!.
Never thought I could achieve that. I'm running slowly at less than 5mph but at least I'm doing it.
Couch 25k is awesome. I'm doing the NHS version and I love Laura the coach and her funny comments.......22 -
LOOSE PANTS48 -
I've had a couple of days recently where I thought that by the end of the day I would be well over my deficit calorie goals. And I was, but the end tally for those days ended up being maintenance numbers, not the big blow outs I was worried about before logging dinner. (I'm trying out getting a handle on portion control for out in the "real world" at home by occasionally not logging dinner immediately after measuring.) So, as it turns out, I believe I've begun to learn what feeling full with a normal portion feels like, which I think is one of the most important relationship issues with food that I have.
