Well, I did not complete Week 4 day 2... Last Wednesday, during my workout I tweaked my hip. Today when I started jogging, my hip started hurting. I tried, but decided not to push it. I switched from podrunner to pandora and listened to music while on the treadmill for a total of 75 minutes. I walked mostly for 4.5 miles. I'm bummed...

    Great job everyone!!!!

Completed Week 6 Day 2 today. I had to bring it forward as I can't run tomorrow and Friday is my rest day before my 3k race on Saturday. Im still nervous about doing it and wondering if im ready but i figured if the 20 min run was ok i should be able to make 3k.

Well done everyone - you are all doing great :)

Good Luck on Your 5K! You will do just fine...let us know how it went
  • I am going to get started as well. I want to use the treadmill. My only concern is how to hop speeds quickly back and forth. I need to know if there is a button I can press to make the machine do it on its own or do i just keep pressing up and down?
  • Did W6D3 today, the 25 mins seemed a little bit hard today I don't know if it is because I'm really tired or just because it's 25 mins but i had to push myself to do it and turn it down one level but i still ran and finished it. Can't believe i only have three weeks left of this program now, it's gone so fast :noway: Great job to everyone this week, Happy New Year!!!! :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou:

Completed Week 6 Day 2! Had to push the kids while doing it. I had to get it done because Im suppose to be doing a 10k run/walk on New Year's Day. I havent decided if I want to do it a the gym or in my neighborhood. I'll wait and see what the weather is like.

I manually push the buttons to the different levels. However, someone mentioned that some treadmills have the option for interval running. So, you should ask an associate at your gym. Good Luck!

Oh, you're scaring me. Congrats on completing Week 6. 3 weeks to go! Have you decided which program you plan on using for the 10k. I'm thinking about using this one: http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10kintro.htm

Nah don't worry about it you can do it!! That looks like a good program, I'll show you the one that I've planned to use, because i use a c25k app on my iPhone I'm going to use another app called bridge210k.. here's the website http://blog.c25kapp.com/about-bridge-to-10k/

Are you planning to start your 10k training straight after you finish c25k?

I think I like Bridge210k better. It's straight to the point and similar to C25k. Yeah, Im going to start right after I finish Couch to 5k so I'll stay motivated to run. After I finish the Bridge210k, I'll work on my speed.

Well done everyone. I have my 3k run tomorrow and although its just a fun run it's my first ever one and Im really scared. Im going on my own so its a bit daunting especially as I am still over 200lbs (just) so im not exactly the shape of a runner.

I hope i get the courage to go to it.

I also like many of you want to continue onto the bridge to 10k program after this one. I will do week 6 day 3 this weekend then im back on track.

Im back home now after the holidays and looking forward to running on the flat again :) Happy New Year to you all.

    Thank you!!

So i just finished my first 3k race. Wow i feel so proud of myself for actually completing it. I didn't walk once and although the pace was faster than i expected I settled into my own pace and really enjoyed it. I am in week 6 of the C25K program so i feel i have done really well to complete it and what a great start to the new year. One thing i did find hard was running with no music. Overall though glad it's over, onto my next goal of the 5k.

    Happy New Year everyone!!

That's so great congrats on your run!! Yeah i think i would feel really weird running without my music;O
  • Wow it's awesome to hear that you are all going to be doing bridge210k too, it'll be great to be able to all do it together:smile: I agree with wanting to pick up speed though, i just wasn't sure whether i was going to do that and then bridge210k or bridge210k and then my speed but i think i'll do the latter. W7D1 tomorrow, i find that i actually look forward to my running days even if they're sometimes difficult which i'm happy about.

Fliegenschwein that's amazing that you're nearly finished, keep up the great work! :drinker:

This felt exactly the same for me today. I had missed my rest day due to my race yesterday and should have taken it today but i wanted to catch up. Running on tired legs wasn't much fun but i completed the 25 mins in full with no stops so im pleased but i really had to push myself for the last 10 mins, and found it quite hard. I think i found the earlier 20 min run we did much easier.

Hopefully with some rest the next few runs will feel more comfortable. Im really please that im on Week 7 Day 1 next with only a few weeks to go im ready to move onto the bridge to 10k after this.

Im going to sign up for an end of the month 5k to keep me focused. Well done everybody!!

Week 6 Day 3 Complete! I also had a tough time towards the last 10 mins but I DID IT. I thought I would have to decrease my speed towards the end but I didnt, I just kept pushing myself.

Im so excited that we will be all moving on to the Bridge to 10k in a couple of weeks. Good Job Everyone! :flowerforyou:
  • Great job finishing Week 6 everyone! :) Did W7D1 today. It was easier than my first 25 min run and i didn't have to turn down my speed but it was still a bit difficult, but i guess it's just a matter of getting used to it. I mean when we first had to do the 3 min runs that was difficult at the time and now 3 mins is so insanely easy. So I'm hoping that's what will start happening with running for the longer distances.
  • Oh oh oh! YES! A marathon is my dream goal. This is a great way to begin! How should we stay in touch with one another? Daily? Weekly?

You can report your progress as much as you'd like! Most of us tend to report back after each run we do during the week :) Welcome to the thread!
  • I just thought I'd ask, what other exercises are you all doing as well as the running to lose weight?

it's hard to say since i'm also doing cardio classes.
since i started running in mid december (w/ a 2 week break for an ankle injury) i've lost about 6 pounds - which is H U G E for me. My body love to retain water.
