poor clutch control or when the clutch itself is wearing out are the usual causes of grinding gears
  • I opened the thread ready to proceed with a ridiculously long rant of everything that annoys me from people breathing through their mouths loudly to people using their phone when they in the presence of others (including at a check out -damn rude!)..... But then I got distracted by the fleshlight talk and all my pent up frustration subsided and was replaced with a giant grin. Ha! I love mfp!

Edit to say I have come to realise that the thing that most annoys me is... People.

My best friend and I have been overweight pretty much our whole lives. I have always weighed more than her ( by about 100lbs) and I think she was happy that she wasn't the "fattest" friend in the group. A couple years ago I got a bug up my *kitten* to start making some changes in my life because I wasn't happy with myself. At first, when I started losing 20, 30, 40lbs; she was full of encouragement and started eating a little healthier herself. I think she had lost about 20-30lbs and I was so freakin happy for her! I ended up moving about an hour away and really got into a healthier lifestyle, I've lost over 130lbs so far. I came home this last weekend for her birthday and saw that she not only gained back the weight she had lost but added probably another 20lbs on top of it. After a few cocktails we started talking and she began complaining that im not being healthy in my weight loss and I've changed too much. I wont sit down with her and eat a whole pack of cookies while we chat or go to mcdonalds for a large shake and fries with her anymore. How is that healthy?!? I guess it upsets me the most because she's not proud of my accomplishments, only making me feel like I'm the one doing something wrong by changing my lifestyle. ok, rant over lol

People that think it's okay to make a left turn on a red light.

Yeah, this happened to me on Wednesday. My car is totaled and I'm in some serious neck pain (going to DR this afternoon). Thank goodness my entire family that was in the car weren't seriously hurt.

But yeah, that's what grinds my gears. There are traffic laws for a reason, people.

haha these can be a double edged sword. My co-workers and I are in a group chat text thing. It's very annoying sometimes but can also be very entertaining especially on the weekends if one or more of them gets drunk.

People who pronounce the term "catalytic" as "Cadillac". You don't have a Cadillac converter on your car. You have a catalytic converter on your car.

Also, people who don't use turn signals.

    I will start.

Cyclists really grind my gears. either you follow the rules of cars or pedestrians- not both.

cyclists know that you follow the rules of cars if you're on the road...it's generally the lay rider that does not know what they're doing.
They also shouldn't ride on narrow roads with no shoulder or a shoulder that is a 6 foot deep drainage ditch!! Cyclists also should not ride in groups of 40 in 3 abreast formation. They need to remember that a car will barely feel them as they bounce off our bumpers.

    No turn signal.
People who pass just to get one car length ahead in a line of multiple cars. Stop. Just stop. :explode:
Recumbant bikes that ride IN the road. I get it - you're too wide for the shoulder, however, you are only going 10mph. I have places to go :grumble:

or at work, when someone sends out an email to a contact group that includes the entire company. I don't need to know that you can't find your keys.

Up until fairly recently, I worked in HR. So, a few of my friends would ask me to look at their resumes, and help them prepare for an interview. I didn't mind it, so I helped. If they didn't get the job, it was somehow my fault.

I would pick help pick their clothes, edit their resume/application and give them tips.

I can lead a moron to water, but I can't make them not say something asinine on an interview.

Yep that's what I'm talkin about. When someone group texts me and I don't know any of the people in it. And they all keep replying , draining your battery, and you can't leave the conversation. It drives me batty......

I completely feel ya on this!

I have a lot of HR experience, good professional history, and a writing degree. I've given so many friends advice on their resumes and they usually don't follow it. They allow me to fix their glaring typos but that's it. They tend to favor a 2- or 3-page resume with a lengthy objective at the top, lists of skills like "typing" or "mail sorting", and of course a funky eye-catching font/style they gleaned from graphic designers via Pinterest.

Then they complain that they aren't getting interviews and it must be my fault, right?

When I use the first stall at the gym, and someone turns on the hand dryer and blows the paper off the toilet before I can sit down. Sooooo frustrating!
