Hi everyone. This is a continuation from the July Running Challenge.
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1339788-july-running-challange

Anyone can join in. New & Old. Here the details from last month that applies here again.

Anybody want to join me for a running challenge? Set a goal here and mark it every day here. You can post your progress by creating a ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com (If creating ones seems difficult, then don't let that stop you. Just type in your daily miles here.)

You can run, walk, or do treadmill. Just be consistent. I am setting a goal for 160 miles. Don't let that worry you. Some can do 25, 50; whatever you like. We can help motivate each other. What do you say? if you are new to running, set a low goal.

You can set your goal now but wait until Friday August 1 to log your runs.

Info on tickers since I know there will be questions. Sign up for an account http://www.tickerfactory.com and create your ticker.
Then you need to update it after you do a run and post it here. Here is what you will need to do.

After setting up your ticker, you will need to make note of the weblink they give you so you can return. An example would be:

http://www.tickerfactory.com/exercise/w6K1EiX/ <<<< the last part will be a part of the image link (explained below) that will be supplied to you after you initially create your link.

When you return to TickerFactory with the weblink, go to your settings page. Make sure you type your pin in that you set when you created your ticker account.
Then where it says "Your current cumlative value, there is an add button. Just add what you just did and the cumlative value automatically changes. Then hit next.

Now after you added your new miles (or km's) to your ticker you need to post it here.

After you hit next, it will give you a bunch of codes suggesting on how to display your ticker.
Use the one at the bottom where it says Direct Image URL:

It will look something like:
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png

To display that correctly in your post, make sure you place the img tags around that link. So it will look, (removing the spaces in the img tags):

[ img ] http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png [ /img ]

^^^^^^^ Don't forget to remove the spaces between the brackets. ^^^^^^^^^^

So it will look like this after you post:
exercise.png

Some key things to pay attention to when posting your ticker.

1: Use the link that ends in .png
2. Remember the [ img] and [ /img] tags go in between the link
3. remove the spaces in the img tags before posting
4. YES, there is a / in the second /img tag

Also, don't forget to join our group.

There you find lots of good info, and it's a place where everyone can talk to each other for further motivation. It's also a place to find help when there is a problem with this thread.

Good luck! And happy running (or walking or treadmilling, ect). If you have any trouble or have questions, please feel free to PM me.

Stan

I'm in! Since I did so much better than I thought I would in July, I'm going for 40 miles in August. Woot!

I'm in - I'm staying with 50 miles again, kiddo is going back to school next week so I'm not sure how that will affect my morning runs. Thanks again for setting this up and keeping us motivated.

July was 40 mi and it looks like I'll be hitting that in the next few days, so I'm just going to increase it by a little bit, and for for 45 mi. I'll get a ticker once July is over (I'm not good at juggling multiple tickers).

Oh gosh! My plan has me at 205 miles for August. Still slightly uncomfortable with the idea that I can actually do that. I'm going to declare 180 as my goal. 205 is scary!!!!

I'd like to sign up please. I'm relatively new to running. I have done a couple of 5Ks, but have some 10Ks coming up in August too. I'm going to go for 70K total.

I'm in! I haven't run since November due to foot surgery. I'm going to do intervals and shoot for 30.

If you haven't joined the group page yet, I encourage you to do so. Leave a note about yourself in the "Introduce Yourself" discussion thread if you haven't already. Some very inspiring stories many people already left, so take your time and read some of them. You guys are all doing great from the previous challenges. And to those that are new, I hope this is a great experience for you.

The group page can be found at:

    Thanks,

Since the heat is sapping my motivation and I need to start my half training in August, I am in. I will figure out my mileage goal and update this post.

  • I would love to join in on this challenge! It's been years since I ran consistently so I'm looking to get that consistency back and shed 20 pounds along the way ;) I'm not sure what to set my August goal at? Maybe I'll start conservative and say 40 miles. Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress over the next month!

I'm in for 185. Doing a 50k race in September and a 50 mile race in October. I don't have a running partner, so hopefully this forum and group can keep me motivated... I have been running for just about 3 1/2 years and I love seeing all the new runners here!

I'm in for 215k in August. I had a goal of 200k for July and hit 204k with 2 days left, so I think adding on another 15k's is do-able...(gotta love those 31day months LOL :D). I'm not training for any races (in fact I've only done 2 in my entire life) I just run to run :D. Happy trails everyone!

50 for August! I hope I can commit to this. August is typically the hottest month of the summer and I hate running indoors. Crossing fingers!

I'm in for 100 miles in August. I'm relatively new to running and new to participating in MFP challenges, so we'll see how this goes. Good luck everyone!
