My goal was 250 miles and 16 cycling days in July. I made 250 (but not by much) and was a few days short. This month I may not have as many longer rides, so it's even more important that I get my days in. My goal, then, will be 250 miles again and 15 days.

Hi all, I'm new to the group. Have been on MFP since June 2012, lost 70, then gained back 30, now back at it since my hubby finally wants to do something about his weight. He's lost 14 and I've lost 23 since he/we started. I have only gotten him on the bike a couple times, and he moans and groans about it...sure makes me feel like super-rider when he's along!
I set myself a goal of riding 600 miles this season outdoors. I have a stationary bike in the family room but hate the seat and always end up with a sore butt when I ride it. And it's much more fun and interesting to ride outside. We live near Chicago and, while Illinois is lately famous for terrible financial management and jailing its recent governors, Northern Illinois does have wonderful bike paths. We live close to the Illinois Prairie Path, and it is usually the beginning of my rides.
In early July my 7-year-old grandson finally got going on two wheels, and we have had a wonderful time riding together. He is doing great, has way too much energy, and comes home ready for more when all I want is a cold drink and a shower.
I started using "mapmyride" in the past couple weeks, and it is nice to just turn it on and ride. To continue toward my 600-mile goal for the season, (I hit 300 earlier this week), I set a goal there of 150 miles over the next 4 weeks. Since I'd ridden 6 of the past 7 days, I did not ride yesterday. Today I rode 16.25 miles. Didn't realize how hot it was, and had to stop to rest/hydrate a couple times on the way back, but it was a good ride. I like that MMR and MFP can link with each other and only have to enter info once.
I am a 58-year-old grandmother, work full-time, love music, gardening, photography, my family, kitties and my bike.

Hi, CJ in Wheaton. I'm in Chicago and have as one of my summer goals trying out more of the suburban paths. So far I've mainly done the North Shore Channel Trail, the North Branch Trail, and the Green Bay Trail, but the Prairie Path is high on my list of what to do next.0

CJ, you might want to try a padded gel cover for the inside bike. You've got nice trails in your area. You are lucky [of course your winters are major].

I've not joined in with this challenge before, but use cyclemetre for my daily commute and other rides. Last month I rode a total of 180.64 miles, so I'm going to aim for 200 miles this month.

***August Goals = race well in mountain bike races on my calendar for the 3rd, 17th, 24th, and the big "50 miler" on the 31st. That's a lot of mountain bike racing for one month meaning I will have to taper and recover as best as possible this month to pull it off.0 -

I just saw this on the boards and would like to join. I started biking this spring to get ready for a tri and have been enjoying it enough to stick with it as cross training. I've been sick and injured and not able to do much the last couple weeks. Of course we've had perfect running and biking weather too. I'm looking forward to getting out again, likely tomorrow.0

Join in! I work 2 jobs so I commute to work every single day so I can get my riding in without losing time or exercise. 18-19 miles a day every day! Mother Nature has been gracious enough to have given my area some excellent riding conditions over the past few months. I hope the trend continues.0 -
