There's nothing worse than flying off the handle about something in public.

Except flying off the handle about something in public...and you were completely wrong to begin with.

It's like...this level of awkward right now

There was a man who was born with two penises who might appreciate that urinal set-up very much.

Some people get them, some don't.

My mother has none, I have a belly full of them. And you know what? No one cares. None of them men I've been with over the years ever cared and I don't care. They're just part of me and nothing to stress over.

The bottom line is there isn't anything you can do about them and you are probably the only person who even notices them, so why stress?

I KNOW I SAID THIS AT THE END OF THE ABOVE THREAD BUT IT SHOULD BE REPEATED SO WOMEN WITH CHILDREN DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT THEMSELVES OR HAVE UNREAL EXPECTATIONS, AND TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT HAD KIDDIES KUDOS TO YOU, I USED TO HAVE RIPPED ABS BEFORE I HAD KIDS ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS!! LOL....I don't care how skinny you get, how much weight you lose, or how many sit-ups or training you do, how much self discipline, self will you have, if you have had babies, especially 2-3+ there's no way you will have a ripped stomach EVER AGAIN. Although it can be IMPROVED WITH EXERCISE AND MOSTLY IMPROVED BY SURGURY. There will always be that extra skin from STRETCHING.....but for me I am PROUD AND OF MY STRETCH MARKS those are my BATTLE SCARS and I would not have my BEAUTIFUL SONS WITHOUT THEM :)

I have two daughters... aged 7 and 9 now.

    This.

Also, I pointed out some of the stretch marks (from 35 pounds I gained in college) to my husband years ago. He told me that they are because I work out all the time. So, anytime I notice any of the ones on my thighs, I think of how much I work out.

I'm not stressing over it, just want to do as much as I can to improve it for myself. Even if my loose skin and stretch marks on my stomach do in fact prevent me from having what I want, that's fine and pretty much irrelevant. Without hope, there is no reason to do anything so I will hold on to my hope and continue working towards it.

We'll see what I end up with! I'll love it no matter how it turns out because I know the years and the work that went into it.

This is asinine on several levels. The OP of that thread has two children and was obese. And dozens, if not hundreds, of mothers on here have gone from overweight/obese to fitness model bodies.

Your projection and excuses are sad to me. Reporting this post to have it removed.

I was going to post about the several women I know with 2, 3, 4 and in one case 5 children who have gone on to compete in fitness and body building competitions but I see that's been covered already.

I think almost everybody has the potential for ripped abs, it all comes down to whether or not one is willing to do the work (in the gym and in the kitchen) and make the sacrifices to get them. I'm not. I'll never have a 6-pack because I don't want it bad enough. Doesn't mean it's not possible.

Ummmm I didn't read through every post, so if someone said this before, Im gonna repeat it..

If you have DOCTORS in your family saying it is physically IMPOSSIBLE for a woman to get her shape/figure/muscles/body back after having kids, they need to go back to med school because that is pure quackery. And I need to hope I never have a visit with one of them.

As far as I know, most men don't really give a crap about that anyway. Most men, not the self-centered, perfectionists who probably aren't happy themselves, and not the ones who are really into aestetics, but most men.

So, it's good to know that we don't have to get crazy over that, but it's sad to know that so many of us still think we have to be perfect.

And Yanicka, way to rock the good genes, girl! And the obvious exercise, too.

can someone please tell me when this thread became about what "most men" want?

Never. There was that post, one response and now your reaction. It's mostly been "Wow, maybe I could do it?!?"

but wut if i'm hoping to derail it?

Make an analogy between this and religion?

Talk about curling in the squat rack?

There hasn't been a Planet Fitness rant in a month.

Stretch marks don't stop a woman from having a toned tummy. They just aren't something that ever go away without major surgery -- though they fade.

You can hope all you want that your stretch marks will disappear, but that's silly. Hoping for a toned tummy and working for it is an entirely different thing.
  • Geloza
    Geloza Posts: 315 Member
I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I don't expect magic to happen by hoping the will disappear and I do not plan on having surgery to remove them. I know they will always be there.

I was also referring to having a "toned" stomach and working for it with diet and exercise. I meant we'll see how the stretch marks and loose skin affect the overall change when I finally lose the excess body fat in that area, which is really the only thing in my control.

Every single person is different. Period. And what about those who lose lots of weight? This IS afterall a weight loss forum, not a ***** session about what kids do to your body. What about what major weight loss/gain does? Same thing for some people. The bottom line is those who do have wonderful "ab genetics" congrats. Do consider yourself lucky because for some, it does not come easy to lose extra skin. There is some truth to what this gal is saying, as I too have spoken with doctors and done lots of research and I would also need surgery. I am an avid runner and fitness instructor. And, I am probably one of the most diciplined eater that i know of. All about genetics people. Food plays a HUGE part in fat loss, even more than exercise but I know my stuff. i've kept 95 pounds off for almost 20 years. Last time I checked, statistically that is less than 5% of people who lose a significant amount of weight. So, therefore me and my stretch marks and lose skin, YEP, we are fabulous. :)
